Twin Flames Kingdom (Status: Paused)

Summary:

When mankind slaughtered all of the monsters, only one survived. With the power of a spell the monsters had used more than once to keep going, Sans is the last monster alive to cast it. Now, four years later, he has located the elusive devil/angel 'Frisk', and his journey to reestablish the kingdom has begun.

Except, this time, the kingdom would never be the same.

(Usually my Undertale's focus monstly on Sans and Frisk, but this one will actually feature multiple main characters with their own arches.)

Notes:

We all know Undertale really good by now. We know the genocide. We know the pacifist. We even know of the genocide route that became pacifist that marked out all the pictures of the monsters at the end, making sure you never get that perfect ending.
Well, what if . . . it wasn't Chara that was responsible for that picture?

Chapter 1: New King of Monsters

Chapter Text

You want to go back. You want to go back to the world you destroyed. It was you who pushed everything to it’s edge. It was you who led the world to its destruction. But you cannot accept it. You think you are above consequences.

Yes.

Exactly. Perhaps. We can reach a compromise. You still have something I want. Give it to me. And I will bring this world back.

It wanted control of her soul, if it restarted the world for her.

If it could correct her mistakes. I swing with my soul. Not a stick. Not a knife. I don’t want to swing with my soul anymore against monsters. Please help me with this. Help me control my soul’s anxiousness and fear, and I promise, you can have my soul afterward. I don’t care.

Then it is agreed. You will give me your SOUL.

Yes

. . .

Then it is done.

She found herself back where she had started when she fell. At the flowers. She met the flower again. Her soul didn’t swing anymore. She kept a little stick, but nothing else.

She met so many ruin creatures, and her soul never swung against her will anymore. It didn’t swing at all. She remet Toriel, and even saw the weird skeleton brothers again.

It was just like before, everyone was smiling and happy, and trying to tell jokes that were ‘ice’ but not quite hitting the mark. She figured out how to fight without even needing a stick, just dodging.

No more smacking with her soul. No more heartlessness. Sans was a lot less creepy now too since she left everyone alone. He even met her along her journeys a little here and there. Which was good. Papyrus too.

Staying in touch with those silly weirdo’s via text made her feel better. She tried to do the best she could. She even dealt with Asgore right, until that flower showed up.

The flower from the beginning challenged her. It was crazy, but she had become powerful enough, she was able to actually get other human souls whose bodies were long since dead to help too!

After that? She was trapped alone again. This time, without a chara voice. An endless void. But, the flower she spared at the end? The flower gave her interesting advice.

She learned how to do something new.

She had been able to turn back time!

She got through it all again easily, helped Undyne and Alphys, and fought Asriel. Only Sans seemed to notice that she seemed to know things before they happened, but he was still friendly all the way too. He even saw her at Grillbys.

It was the same, traveling back in time, but it was better too. Newer experiences. Newer feelings. Different options to take and other places to explore. Especially with such good eyesight now. There was only one thing wrong though.

One thing she knew that she couldn’t change.

She felt sorry for Asriel. There was no way she could save him. She could help so many others, but she couldn’t save him. She gave the poor kid a hug, knowing she couldn’t actually save him. He was about her age too.

Of everything she could save, and everything she did save, there’s no way she could stop the fate of Asriel going back to being Flowey.

But, with bad comes good, and the Underground finally opened up.

The silly skeletons and the fish woman, and everyone else was there. Including Toriel. They all headed outside, glad to finally be free.

The humans were going to be excited, she just knew they would be so surprised that she found trapped monsters! Knowing her world, a lot of them would probably end up as celebrities. People loved new and cool things.

Monsters were thought to be mythical, and now they were real. Yep. People were going to love them. Toriel asked if she wanted to stay or go, but Frisk knew she had to leave. She knew exactly where she was now, considering the view ahead.

It had been more than hours, it had been days. She needed to get back home. It was okay though, the monsters had learned their lesson. They would peacefully meet the humans themselves. No one needed a ten year old as an ambassador, that was silly. No one would listen to a kid like her. They could talk to the monsters directly and get the story. That would be the best way since they weren’t ‘fighting first’ anymore.

They would talk it out in their adult ways. They’d be great. Knowing her world, Papyrus would probably get into something like a cooking judging show. Sans would probably get his own kind of TV comedy show and make so much he’d never have to work another day in his life. Undyne would probably end up in some kind of cop show, or a stunt actor, or something dangerous but fun to her.

Everyone would have something wonderful.

They’d be great!

People were going to love them.

Still not feeling it. Sans had come out to see the sun like everyone else. The kid actually did it, which was . . . nuts. He tried to keep an open mind. Even tried to stay positive for the picture that was taken of them. Hell, he was just 14, he’d never even met the surface before. Still?

It felt risky. He even decided to go back inside for a bit, to try and relax. Papyrus had already hurried ahead, wanting to meet it all head on. He’d have to eventually go. Come on, yo. This isn’t bad. It’s great. I mean, it’s what we all wanted, right? Eh. Not really him. He just wanted the human to chill out, make friends around there, and just not do anything big. Like, this whole knocking out the barrier thing. How’d they even do that? Oh well.

Not that he loved the Underground, but it uh, it had more control of itself? While the human was being good, it also didn’t just breeze through. Monsters could still be in control down there. Now? Surface. A lot more hu . . . Uh? That don’t feel good.

Inside, inside, inside, Frisk!

Tori had dragged the human girl back inside.

So, no big party outside? Sans asked, knowing that wasn’t it. He watched Tori sharing some kind of magic over Frisk’s head while they both cried. There’s a party outside. It’s a bad party. Is he . . . ?

He’s gone. Most are gone. Tori looked backwards. We tried to even be peaceful. There’s just no way.

Sans felt her grab onto his coat arm.

Just one needs to make it out.

Oh. Sans noticed that she was bleeding, but didn’t want to mention it. Can I go get . . .? He already knew.

I’ve erased her memories of this whole time Underground. She’s human, she’ll be fine as long as she isn’t found here. Tori sighed and picked up the human. That should hold at least five years. Maybe ten, I don’t have enough for a lifetime. She looked toward Sans. Get away. Find a way out, they are coming, Sans! Not just down there, they are coming in here too! She ran in the other direction.

Sans just stared at the ground for a bit, before leaving out towards the sun again. The sight. There was a lot of monster dust, and humans, crawling forward. Damn.

He headed deeper inside, teleporting to Snowdin. It was empty for awhile. He started hiding in the house.

He heard monsters screech in all kinds of ways ahead. The house wasn’t gonna be enough. He went to the isolated home, but knew that probably wasn’t gonna be enough either. There were still monsters trying to reach and hide in it too.

Just one. Just one needs to make it to the surface. He heard a Temmie as they passed by.

Humans would think of a house. Where could humans not go? Sure, they weren’t there yet, but there wasn’t second chances. Human souls were powerful, and he saw at least 50 outside.

He backtracked and then saw some eyes in some holes. Never go in there. Not even a way in for something bigger than bats. He teleported inside.

Yeah. Real shithole. But? Best bet. He teleported to his house to get essentials. Not over, it’s not over, Pap! I promise. That barrier is opened now. These humans got no idea what’s coming.

He gathered some of the things from the basement, as well as the TV, and some simple inventions. Some knick knacks here and there.

He brang everything into the bat cave. He double checked any entry. Okay. We’re good. Okay. It sucked though. Life? Life was always hard for monsters. In fact, if he reached the age of 20, he would have beat out 60% of the monsters already. It’d be nice to see 20. Hell, it’d be nice to see just 15.

He stayed quiet as he heard the screechings. The sound of fighting, it never lasted long. He could see dust swirling in front of his view briefly from the outside peep holes.

He heard one of them speak, but he couldn’t understand it. He moved away further in the cave and hid behind a rock as they shined a light in. The human made some kind of sound again and then the light shined away.

Still, Sans stayed behind the rock. He only moved to get some of his essentials he brought. Namely, ketchup. He needed at least ketchup to survive.

He laid behind the rock and didn’t do anything. Didn’t move. As long as he heard any sounds outside, he wouldn’t move. Every once in awhile he’d hear a squawk or a yell, knowing someone else had been discovered.

The last squawk he heard, he felt his whole skeleton start to vibrate. Shit. Really? It would be him? Damn. Come on, fate? I’m the last one that deserved this. He knew, from the power he felt inside of him. He knew.

He was the last monster in existence.

Eventually, the sound of anything. Footsteps. Voices. It was all dead.

Sans finally emerged. The Underground was completely empty. He could feel it. There was nothing left around him. I did it. He started to walk slow, getting a feel and watching for any human soul he felt around the area. Nothing

He walked farther. Nothing.

He walked all the way to the cliff. Where they once saw the sun. Now? It wasn’t the sun. It’d be a moon. Better. He headed outward a little more. Don’t worry, I got this. I’m gonna get this. Don’t be lazy for once, Sans, you gotta get this done.

He found a good clearing, and looked toward the top of the mountain. Mount Ebbott was a big mountain range. Still. Boy, of all the shitty monsters that could have been it. You poor schmucks get my sixten year old lazy ass. He finally allowed himself a chuckle and spread his hands out.

When all of the monsters had first been shoved down there, the royalty had cast a spell. That spell cost a lot of power and took several months according to what he heard. But? It was about to be a pain in the ass for the humans!

Sans didn’t feel one bit sorry about it either. Geez, there’s a lot of power in here. It’s like a massive fart. Well? Probably what one feels like. He allowed himself to chuckle again. Starting off with the best first! I’ll see you again one day soon, Papyrus. He watched a piece of green fog creep from him and slowly head away.

It would move up into the mountain. Somewhere, when it felt someone compatible for him. Then?

Then it’d kill the human soul, but not the memories or the human body. It wouldn’t remember anything about being a monster, but they’d become Papyrus. Eventually though, the human skin would wear down, and the real monster underneath would emerge. Years down the road, unless the King of Monsters came near them. Then it would be fast and instant.

At least, for the monsters that were alive the closest to the end. Sans let off more of the steam. Most were green. Some steam was white. Some were pink too, and red. The darkest reds really wore him out. I am gonna need a nap for a week after this.

Which he could do. The next part would take years to do, but he didn’t have to really do anything. His body was just radiating monster energy outward toward the mountain. The monster energy wasn’t new, it was from the 40,000 monsters they once had sealed down in the barrier in the beginning. The ones that lived. The ones that died. Anyone down there, it was coming forth.

That energy would fall into the humans. Into their bodies. Into their bones. Into their souls. Tiny flecks of the old souls would settle, and when they reproduced?

Their next generation would be part monster. Humans still wouldn’t be able to tell. They wouldn’t know, until the next generation after that. Then? Then the monsters would be reborn.

He could have done it with all the power, but he didn’t want to. Who cared if he killed off like 300 humans? He wasn’t going to be the only monster for 150 years while the rest incubated inside the human’s.

Even now? Pap? I hope your back soon. I hope you get a good body to cannibalize. Get a good mom and dad this time. You know? Something we didn’t really get much of. Hope you get a good job, being something you like. Hope you get to enjoy pasta soon. He looked at the ground. The dry ground, was getting wet. Everybody’s gonna be okay. I can’t get you yet. I don’t know how long it’ll be.

Damn! You’ll be out there soon, if you aren’t yet. You might already. All the Underground people. Wish I could see ya! Wish I could joke witcha, just a few more times. He chuckled. Can’t wait to tell ya your big brother became the King of Monsters. What a messed up world we got, huh?

Yeah. Right now, all of them were out there, finding somebody to cannibalize. Take over their memories and their life. Maybe okay humans. Maybe not, but that spell would let their soul basically eat the other one in a single gulp. Nothing would remain except the top layer.

Didn’t matter. Survival, baby. Now? I need to find Frisk again.
