Summary
Caitlyn takes a deep breath and lets her forehead rest on the wall besides the door. The knob is loose. This is not the time to be thinking about that. She can't imagine the field day her grief counselor would have if she told them. And that's before she considers their fathers and what in gods name the rest of the department would think. Which is all fine and good and not her problem because this cannot be happening. And even if it was for her, she's the one who's lost her mind. Not Vi. Vi has spent so long trying to convince the system she's crazy so she can go into the special penitentiary with her sister that Caitlyn is very certain Vi is sane. And sane people do not develop feelings for people who met like they did. Who have the history they do. She just won't think about what is happening on the other side of the door and everything will be fine.
Takes place in SWW's firefighters AU. Pre-relationship the hot water boiler breaks at work and Caitlyn offers her shower to Vi. Vi takes a bath instead.

Summary
“Why the hell are they doing this anyway?” Vi demands, the letter still clenched in her hand, “and sending me a stupid letter, like I live here?”
In her hand the letter is written in some formal script informing her that she has been selected for a special honor for her bravery and commitment to the people of Piltover. There’s a ceremony and a promotion and some other kind words that are more difficult to see. Her throat aches and her arm throbs. Twin hurts that make her desperate for anything to take the edge off. No matter how much she reminds herself that she’s a fighter. A survivor. She can weather the storm. But when you’ve felt the safety of shore, the sea is so much more terrifying no matter how confident you are you can swim across it.
The Enforcers decide to give out medals post-final battle.

Summary
The next morning Vi’s model is between them as the boat makes its way through the lock. Vi’s eyes are wide as she looks up at the mechanics of the structure as they pass through it. It’s difficult to think that Vi lived her life here, depended on this system of chambers for everything from food to clothing and she never got to see it like she wanted. Vi looks down at the model and Caitlyn points to where they are in it.
“It’s incredible,” Vi says, her voice full of wonder.
“It’s yours,” Caitlyn blurts out, lost in the look on Vi’s face.
Vi and Caitlyn visit the Piltover Lock.

Summary
She undoes the first two buttons of Vi’s shirt and slides her hands against her skin. Her fingers slip between Vi’s skin and those impossibly silly ropes looped around her body. She adjusts things, keeping their gazes locked together as the knots obey Caitlyn’s commands. She fixes the top of Vi and does up the buttons of her shirt before opening several on her waist. Another adjustment happens around Vi’s hips, one that makes her have to swallow a whine as the knot between her thighs shifts. Caitlyn doesn’t move until she sees Vi relax. Then she does the buttons back and tugs Vi’s jacket into place.
Caitlyn and Vi attend a fancy party with a twist.

Summary
Her mind catalogues things instead. How Vi is always drawing up her knees, how she always pulls her arms around herself near the fire—things Caitlyn attributed to being cold. She can tell that the cold makes Vi nervous. Which makes sense given the years spent in that damp hellhole of a prison. But sometimes when she wakes up Vi’s head is on the mattress, her arms locked around her pillow. Vi isn’t a blanket hog but Caitlyn gets the feeling she might be if she was given the opportunity—or the blankets. One night she brings in an extra throw blanket just to see and when she wakes up, Vi has it bunched against her middle, her arms firmly locked around the fabric.
Caitlyn notices Vi looking at plushies at the market.
