If we had 5 more minutes

Summary:

"Cale, you need to tell me what’s going on!" Alberu yelled. His hands were closed into tight fists.

“Why should I?” Cale defiantly looked him in the eye.

"You’ve been so suspicious!"

"Oh so you think I’m cheating?" Cale narrowed his eyes, his body backing off.

"You leave at night! You don’t even sleep in our bed anymore!” Alberu only got louder and more aggressive.

"I see how it is.” A tear flowed down Cale’s face. Alberu softened seeing it but couldn’t tame the unbridled anger within him.

"You didn’t even deny it."

"I didn’t cheat on you." Tears flowed faster and faster, Cale couldn’t breathe. “I didn’t. I love you…”

Alberu clenched his teeth. He didn’t know what to do.

“I truly love you…” Cale whispered.

Or, Cale is dying but no one except him (and his APs) know, not even his lover.

Probably won’t be updated for a while, really sorry! But I wanted to just put it up first and see if anyone likes this idea.

Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Sunlight streams into the room from between the curtains. Three piles of paper on the floor next to the couch lay dormant even as the gentle wind in the room circulates.

 

The couch and the floor near it is decorated by small crumbs, the only areas spared from its contamination is the area around the three piles and a neatly organised desk.

 

The gold gilded desk held more stacks of paper. Where the sunlight hit, it would reflect back at a higher intensity.

 

The wardrobe was no better. Though it was not as near, the wardrobe faced contamination of a different kind.

 

Between the fancy, royal clothing were clothes that were smaller, daintier almost. While the fancy clothes were bombed with miniscule details, the smaller shirts were simple and plain.

 

In the midst of all of this, lay 2 noblemen. The sunlight that poured in highlighted all their best features. Their skins gave off a golden glow and the hair a myriad of red and black.

 

"Alberu, the sun's too bright." Red eyes squinted and furrowed. Cale lightly gave his lover a nudge, as if telling him to do something about the sun. “Close the curtain for me, please?”

 

"Why me?" The Crown Prince frowned as he made eye contact with the ex-Commander. "You can do it."

 

"My loveliest Alberu, Sun of the Roan Kingdom, the light of my-" A gentle kiss interrupted Cale.

 

"Sigh, shut up. I'll do it." Alberu with great effort lifted his body up. He looked towards their bedside table and grabbed his necklace. "I have a meeting anyways, you can sleep in."

 

"Another meeting?" Cale begrudgingly sat up behind Alberu.

 

"I said you could sleep in." Alberu turned and raised an eyebrow at Cale. His lover usually despised the idea of getting out of bed if it was before noon.

 

"Yes, yes." Cale leaned down to give Alberu a kiss on his bare shoulder before he slipped the necklace out of Alberu's hands and clasped it around Alberu’s neck for him.

 

"Oh, thank you." Alberu flashed Cale a smile.

 

"Whatever, now you're really the Sun of the Roan Kingdom, the Glory of all-" Cale laid back down with a smirk.

 

"No." Alberu shut Cale down before he could tease him any further.

 

Unlike Cale, who had a habit of sleeping with all of his clothes on (because he used to sleep with the children), Alberu typically slept shirt off.

 

Golden hair tousled as he grabbed a dress shirt from the bedside table and wore it. Then, as promised previously, he closed the curtains fully.

 

He may not have been able to see it but he could definitely feel Cale's loving gaze on him.

 

Alberu walked to their now shared wardrobe and grabbed a few garments he thought would go well together.

 

Ever since his lover was able to move in with him, Alberu’s requested the removal of a personal servant who would normally dress him for Cale’s comfortability. Besides, it wasn’t as if Alberu was incapable of dressing himself.

 

As he was dressing himself, Alberu noticed an absence of any quips that would have come from Cale by now. He looked over at his other half and was met with the sight of Cale peacefully back to sleep.

 

Once Alberu was done, he walked over and sat on the side of their bed. He combed his hand through Cale’s hair and let out a sigh.

 

“If you were any prettier, I think my heart would explode.” His hand continued its motion, as though massaging Cale’s scalp.

 

Once he had his fill of caressing his lover, he stood up and walked to the door.

 

“I love you.” With that, Alberu opened the door and left their room.

Cale woke up and felt like absolute shit. The sun was too bright and the whole room felt like an incinerator.

 

“Alberu, the sun’s too bright.” He let out a whine. The process of opening his eyes felt nearly impossible and when he did manage to do it, he was practically blinded.

 

-Cale, are you okay?
-I think the body is sick

 

‘Ugh, this feels like when I overuse record and I didn’t even do anything.’

 

Cale lightly bumped against Alberu in an attempt to shift the blanket off of him. Everything was too hot, too heavy.

 

“Close the curtain for me, please?” His body felt as though it weighed a hundred tonnes.

 

-Why aren’t you healing?
-Where’s the crybaby?

 

“Why me? You can do it.” The two made eye contact but Cale could barely tell apart Alberu’s features.

 

-Crybaby?
-God XXXX it.

 

"My loveliest Alberu, Sun of the Roan Kingdom, the light of my-" Cale tried to tease his lover into doing it but got something even better out of it, a kiss.

 

"Sigh, shut up. I'll do it. I have a meeting anyways, you can sleep in." Alberu conceded to him.

 

"Another meeting?" Cale used his shaking hands to push his body into a sitting position.

 

-Cale, I think it would be best if you stayed down.

 

"I said you could sleep in." Alberu turned and raised an eyebrow at Cale, not that Cale could really see it but he could feel it.

 

"Yes, yes." Cale’s body slumped down. To hide it, he gave his lover a kiss on the shoulder then with great effort, brought his hand in front.

 

Instead of hugging Alberu, the hand lost strength and fell onto Alberu’s hand. Cale grabbed Alberu’s necklace and then put it on for him, pretending as though that was his intention.

 

-Cale, you need to rest
-Lie back down!

 

‘I don’t want to worry Alberu.’

 

"Oh, thank you." Alberu flashed Cale a smile.

 

-Lie down!

 

"Whatever, now you're really the Sun of the Roan Kingdom, the Glory of all-'' Cale laid down with a smirk.

 

"No." Alberu shut Cale down before he could be teased any further.

 

-Crybaby, explain!
-God XXXX where the XXXX is the crybaby?

 

As Alberu did his usual morning routine, Cale kept his eyes on him.

 

‘I feel like I’m dying.’

 

-Hang in there!
-I think you should just sleep first, we’ll find the crybaby in the meantime.

 

‘Okay, thanks…’

 

With that, Cale drifted into the land of sleep…

 

 

 

 

Only to be woken up by intense nausea.

‘Shit.’
