For the prompt, 'it takes a village' for Polyship Week:
Most days, they're a pretty smooth-running machine. Ed and Izzy have lived with Stede long enough, spent enough time with the kids to be a part of their routines; in this case, what should be a normal Friday in the fall. Kids go to school, they go do their respective things for the day, kids get picked up, everyone is happy.
This Friday? Not so normal, and not so happy a day for any of them! Were Stede a single dad dealing with this day, it would be a nightmare. For the three of them, it's slightly less so. The three of them plus some of their friends helping out too? ...it's still a pretty rough day, but going from the nightmare end of the Bad Day Scale to this is about as good as they can ask for.
