Kuzan was strong enough to hold his own against Teach for a while, but in the end the Emperor would either play dirty or reveal another card he had kept in his sleeve until now. Something that would tip the scales in his favor.
And the ex-admiral would die or go through something even worse. He probably thought nobody would care about it, that they had all discarded him because of his choices. And maybe they should have. But neither Sengoku nor Garp were prepared to lose someone else to duty.
Especially not Roci’s friend. Garp’s student. The lanky and idealistic young man that became a strong and disillusioned admiral. So much potential and so little self-worth.
