Summary
Based off an idea of a story of player character escaping.
The smiling critter cartoon was recreated years later to do right by the characters. They each have quirks based off the bigger bodies' personalities and experiences, but within the world of the cartoon and helping to teach life lessons. both one's every cartoon out there teaches, and the one's nobody teaches. Starts out as kids and may write some episodes of them as teenagers.

Summary
The Smiling Citters were made for to complete 2 goals: Raise the children kept in the Playcare, and to combine a toy body with the mind and soul of a person. Harley Sawyer lead the creation of the Smiling Citters through the Bigger Bodies Initiative. After many failed experiments, Dr. Sawyer made a breakthrough with 1170, the first BBI with intelligence. Soon after all the others were made, with 1188 being the final Smiling Critter created. For 4 years, with occasional problems, the BBI's did what they were created to do, but THoJ ruined all that on August 8th, 1995. Almost all employees were killed, putting an end to the torture that all of them faced for those 4 years.
10 years later an employee received a letter, asking for them to return and find the ones who remain. When they come back to the cured building they pause for a moment before entering, descending lower that ever, finding what they missed 10 years ago...
During those 10 years the all Smiling Critters suffered, all but Catnap, the one who made them suffer. On this fateful day, all the suffering will come to an end, and all will move onto the Afterlife.

After the Smiling Critters reunited for the summer, they decided to take a trip to a small town of Bimini, where the stories of the Fountain of Youth originated and after setting up the perfect space for a picnic, Hoppy (in the moment of burning in the sun and irrational thought) jumps into the nearby river, which begins to glow and turns the peppermint rabbit into a baby bunny. Now, the Smiling Critters have to figure out how to turn their friend back to age, while also taking care of her and finding out more about themselves.

CatNap’s friends all disappeared without a trace. He keeps on looking for answers on their whereabouts, but it all leads to nowhere. Occasionally, CatNap thinks that he hears their voices, it’s all in his head. Fifteen years after their disappearance, CatNap swears that he can hear their voices more clearly.
After DogDay’s death in the factory, he returns to the cartoon world and sees all of his friends but a certain purple cat is missing. Good riddance.
(In this au, all of the critters minus CatNap are forced to go into the factory. They come back 15 years later to find a difference in their cartoon world. the cartoon version of the Smiling Critters are AI programs for the bigger bodies project. They get mixed in with the souls but get separated once they die, meaning that the Smiling Critters go back to their world with the memories of the real world while the souls just disappear.)

After playing outside and having fun together, the Smiling Critters head inside DogDay's dog house to continue their games. Eventually, everyone gets tired, and CatNap has the bright idea to read a story before they turn in for the night.
They decide on a fantasy fairy tale, one with a princess trapped in a tower, a brave prince and his trusty knights sent to save her, an all-knowing fortune teller, a fateful messenger, an apothecary, and a special mage and potions master.
The story ends with the prince saving the princess from her tower, and they all live happily ever after.
The Critters smile sleepily as they begin to doze off, but what they don't know is that their storybook carries a little magic, and they are in for an adventure of their own!
