Fingers pressed firmly against his neck, searching.
“He’s freezing,” someone muttered.
“He’s going into shock, get that blanket over him!”
“Sam, open your eyes!” one of them said firmly, gripping his chin. “Come on, let me see those baby blues. Don’t you quit on us now!”
A weak groan escaped Sam’s lips, his body still shaking uncontrollably. His head lolled to the side, but firm hands steadied him.
“No, no, you’re not checking out on me,” the voice growled. “Eyes open, Sam. Right now.”

Jazz’s expression flickered, some small twitch before he smoothed it over. “What do you remember, Sam?”
Sam frowned, trying to sift through the haze. He remembered talking… then feeling strange, then nothing. Except—no. There was something. “You guys… were angry. You hit the wall. You and Prowl sat on the floor.”
For a heartbeat, Jazz’s face went blank. Then he gave a smile, warm and gentle, like a blanket tucked around him. “Ah. You remember that, Sam.”
Sam wanted to ask why Jazz had been angry, but the effort was too much. His eyes slipped shut, breath evening into a soft snore.
He didn’t see Jazz lower his head to the mattress, drawing in a long, unsteady breath before lifting it again to gaze at Sam.
