    Summary

This Prologue sets the stage by retracing the broad emotional trajectory the 2015 BBC adaptation showed, a path often sharply divergent from Winston Graham’s novels. It follows the years shaped by Ross Poldark’s fixation on Elizabeth Chynoweth, the strain this placed on his marriage, and the choices that ultimately drove Demelza to leave Nampara.

At the same time, this AU restructures the 1790–1795 arc to serve the story that follows. Several threads shift earlier or unfold differently: Demelza’s friendship with Caroline Penvenen, her first meaningful encounters with Hugh Armitage, and the quiet strengthening of her independence. Certain series plotlines are condensed, reordered, or set aside entirely to keep the focus on Demelza’s emotional journey and the consequences of Ross’s choices.

Spanning 1790–1795 (unpublished Chapters 1–25), the Prologue provides the revised history through which this AU emerges. Only then does the true narrative begin. From Chapter 26 — The Gulf Between Us onward, this story follows the aftermath the adaptation never confronted: a marriage bent past breaking, a woman reclaiming her dignity, and the reckoning that unfolds when Ross finally seeks her out.

    Summary

    A tale for Christmas

Sudden prosperity brings good fortune and wealth to the Poldarks of both the Trenwith and Nampara estates just at the point Cary Warleggan planned to ruin the Trenwith side for good by calling in their loans and taking possession of Trenwith House from the increasingly dire financial circumstances Cary and his nephew, George worked purposefully to produce for them. The Warleggans' goal, gaining control all of the Trenwith assets, seems soundly dashed. Cary is vexed and George is convinced there is some sort of nefarious witchery afoot as all of their dastardly schemes are rendered useless from solutions that not only save the day but strain all credibility. Can the Warleggans find out the Poldarks' secret? Can they destroy it? Can they capture control over it for themselves?

    Summary

Disclaimer. I am still working on this, however the genie is out of the bottle, so I am posting what I have. I apologize that this is such a very long story. It took on a life of it's own. And this might not suit many readers.
A story set in Cornwall in the year 2000. The main characters are included. Some as they were portrayed in the books and TV series, some modified.
This is an AU for the story of Ross Poldark and Demelza Carne.
It eventually become explicit. It is long. It's nothing more than my take on what if Demelza met Ross in the modern world? How might that work out. So it doesn't adhere exactly to the time line and story from the books or series.
They meet under very different circumstances and this is the story as it plays out in that time and place.

    Summary

He felt another pang of fear, this is not something he knew how to deal with. Soon Dwight would be here, and George would have to face him.

He would look into the eyes of a man that has more intimate knowledge of his own mind than he does.

George felt like he was going to be sick, sicker than he apparently already was.

    Summary

    War is Hell

Ross and Dem become separated by circumstance in the frantic need to leave France under the Vichy government and threat of Nazi occupation. Their love is true but, when it comes down to the wire, they both leave Europe by accepting marriages of convenience. Ross weds Elizabeth Chynoweth, a rich socialite and patron of the arts who brings him to safety in New York City. Dem weds Hugh Armitage, a diplomat who can assure safe passage from France to Mexico. When a dinner hosted by The Riveras at Casa Azul inadvertently brings the two couples together, three years later, the guilt, bitterness and jealousy, feelings of gratitude and disloyalty in each configuration of relationship are the potent emotions that swirl around them all in this difficult reunion.

    Summary

Blessed are they who stand before
The corrupt and the wicked and do not falter.
Blessed are the peacekeepers, the champions of the just.

Blessed are the righteous, the lights in the shadow.
In their blood the Maker's will is written.

Chant Of Light, Canticle of Benedictions 4:10-11

Kestrel Poldark has been holding on to hope that their cousin would return from the war. Once he does, they both get plunged straight into the currents; the peace of the county is disrupted not only by the shaking of its very foundations, but also the ripples from the Fifth Blight, forcing the smallfolk to overcome difficulties like never before.

    Summary

He was not proud of what he had done. Regret was now his constant companion, as was shame. Intimacy with anyone other than his wife was cheap, shallow…unworthy to be compared to the true, deep devotion shared with the woman who was his equal in life. He had no excuse to offer Demelza, however. Words were useless, futile…particularly when everything, including his heart and mind, were so torn asunder by his actions.

An introspective piece surrounding the events of S2/Warleggan (book).

    Happy Reading.
