As of this announcement, casualties among the garrison are still being determined, but the number is likely to be high. The Emperor has devoted his personal attention to the matter, and the issue is well in hand. Further details will remain classified. If you are receiving this message, you are to report for an in-person briefing upon His Imperial Majesty's return from the Conformatorium. You will be subjected to a full screening upon your arrival.
Information security is critical at this time. An approved version of events is being prepared for issue through official channels, and there will be a press conference later today. Be advised that anyone found to be spreading rumors to the effect that the Emperor's Coven was or is concealing the operation of an experimental biothaumatics lab from the public will, regardless of rank or station, be charged with seditious libel and imprisoned under the provisions of the Imperial Security Decree.

Hunter was always taught to be resilient. Special treatment or no, he was made to be a soldier. One that could, at the absolute minimum, survive until he'd reached safety.
So, he survived. He fled, fell apart, and got back up again. Life doesn't pause when ones whole world is turned inside out and backwards, so he won't try to make it. He'll adapt, learn, and survive. He can do that. He's done it before, and even if it won't last, well, at least he tried.

Luz Noceda lives with the most skilled swimmer on the Boiling Isles, Eda Clawthorne. She's been living with her for a year, and things are going well! However, as the new swim season starts, a new Golden Guard on the Emperor's team is assigned. And Luz realizes how absolutely lonely and sad this guy is.
Throughout swim meets, texts, and high school life, she makes it her personal goal (along with her friends' help) to befriend the Golden Guard and help him learn how to live as a happy and mentally well teenager.
