Summary
It has been some time since Uther's death and magic is still forbidden in the Kingdom of Camelot.
After Merlin is forced to use his magic to save Gwen's life within the castle's very walls, Arthur finds evidence to convict an innocent woman of sorcery.
Gwen finds out that Merlin was the one responsible for the act that saved her, and offers to support Merlin, along with Lancelot and Gaius, in coming up with a way to help the wrongfully accused from meeting an undesirable fate.
When they can't think of a timely solution, Merlin forces it upon himself to take matters into his own hands and reveals his magic to Arthur.
Follow the story and watch it unravel as Arthur decides if he will follow the path of his father or become the once and future king Camelot deserves.

This journey covers riches to rags, roads of difficulties and staying incognito from both foes and allies yet under the worst circumstances the duo finds themselves nurturing a bond stronger than friends whilst learning to embrace their flaws to adapt and overcome hurdles together.
Slight Inspiration: From the scene where Arthur tells Gwen (his literal queen) that if he wasn't the King, he would become a farmer and bring Merlin with him.

He needed to put an end to all of this and manage to put his magic at Arthur's service while ensuring he was no longer the intermediary between the two. He had found a spell to do exactly that. It was probably a completely insane plan and certainly very dangerous, but… Merlin couldn’t help but wonder if this wasn’t ultimately what the prophecy wanted. After all, it had just been said that he would protect Arthur with his magic and allow him to fulfill his destiny, right? As long as his magic did the job, he didn’t really need to be there, did he? -

Depuis maintenant plusieurs mois, il était de temps en temps envahi par le sentiment que l’Ancienne Religion avait commis une terrible erreur en faisant de lui Emrys et devait s’en mordre les doigts. A présent qu’il avait tué la personne qu’Arthur aimait le plus, il n’avait plus aucun doute sur le fait qu’Emrys aurait dû être quelqu’un d’autre que lui. La seule chose de bien chez lui était sa magie mais, malheureusement pour tout le monde, il semblait ne jamais faire les bons choix quand il fallait s’en servir : plus il s’efforçait d’arranger une situation, plus celle-ci empirait…
Il fallait qu’il mette un terme à tout ça et qu’il parvienne à mettre sa magie au service d’Arthur tout en faisant en sorte de ne plus être l’intermédiaire entre les deux. Il avait trouvé un sort pour faire exactement ça.
C’était probablement complètement fou comme plan et c’était très certainement dangereux mais… Mais Merlin ne pouvait pas s’empêcher de se demander si ce n’était pas finalement ce que la prophétie voulait. Après tout, il avait juste été dit qu’il protègerait Artur de sa magie et lui permettrait d’accomplir son destin, non ? Tant que sa magie faisait le boulot, il n’avait pas vraiment besoin d’être là, n’est-ce pas ? -

If Merlin were to be honest with himself, a thing he so rarely allowed, he would have not been surprised by it in the slightest. "Merlin. I’ll help you.”
“Kill me. I don’t want to feel anything anymore. Burn my corpse in the courtyard - serve it for dinner, for all I care.” He laughs, swaying towards Arthur’s chest a little. Arthur doesn’t move. His throat feels scratchy. What’s he supposed to do or say?
“I know you want me to die.” Merlin states. Arthur’s brows pinch and he shakes his head with a wince.
He wanted to retire to his chambers forever. He wanted to throw up his guts.
“You’d enjoy it, right - killing me?” Merlin asked as if he was already certain of the answer. Pale and frail fingers twisted the sword so the sharp edge scraped against the King’s armor. Arthur gulped but made no intention to move.
Merlin slid his fingers up the side of the blade, leaning in closer until his lips were centimeters from Arthur’s ear. “You don’t have to hide how you truly feel. I accept all of you - even the part that wishes people like me dead.”
