“Red,” Jace answers slowly, “It’s an away game.” Darren’s a great lacrosse player but has taken a fair few hits to the helmet.
Darrens face contorts into one that says oops and Jace sighs. “Please tell me you brought your red jersey, Darren, or so help me-“
“I did, I did, don’t worry,” Darren drops down from whatever he was standing on to peer over the stall. Jace can hear him say to another teammate, Dude I’m so fucked. Jace sighs and puts his head in his hands, thunking his forehead against the stall door. It’s only Tuesday, he thinks almost hysterically, he’s got homework to do when he gets home, two tests to study for, and Darren doesn’t have his fucking jersey.

It started with this country song that Luke forwarded to Jace, claiming that it reminded him of “Jace and his beau”. Jace’s first mistake was taking it at face value and his second mistake was trusting Luke. He blasted the song out loud in his Valhalla, bobbing his head along to the innocent, easygoing acoustic guitar. When the singer earnestly crooned about getting kissed on his “bussy” during the chorus he almost slammed his brakes in shock while racing down the motorway at lightning speed.

Jace does as he's told, bowing deeply to his grandsire and the queen. He pulls him into a brief hug anyways, running his good hand over Jace's curls.
“Your mother is right, boy, you're growing up handsome. You'll be a strong man,” he smiles, wetness in his eyes. “Your grandmother would've been thrilled to see you. Don't you agree, Alicent?”
Queen Alicent presses her lips together briefly, as she does every time the king mentions Queen Aemma. Jace can't blame her for that, since it's only gotten worse over the years, and thus, more awkward.
“Indeed, husband,” she replies anyways, and takes her time to look into Jace's face. He struggles not to squirm under the intensity of her brown eyes, but they seem less… cold, than they've been before, and as he watches they even soften minutely. It's an odd change, though not unwelcome. “Princess Rhaenyra come again, truly… gorgeous.”

Jacaera couldn’t keep the flush from running down her neck and beneath the neckline of her dress as Baelon laughed at her words, his chest shaking under her hands as she pulled the laces connecting the pauldrons to his breastplate taut. She wasn’t wrong, they did have squires for this, Baelon had just very swiftly sent them away when she’d arrived to give her husband her handkerchief as her favor for the joust.
For luck, he’d claimed, as if he needed it.
“None as pretty as you,” He teased, eyes glittering with mirth as he bent his head in an attempt to kiss the top of her head, doing his best to avoid mussing her braids and the pearl pins that shone in her dark curls, “Besides, you didn’t seem so fond of squires when you were getting me out of it.”

Jace looks down at Rickon, grinning when he finds his eyes closed, his little mouth open in slumber. A little triumphant pang shoots through his chest.
“Holy fuck. How did you do that?” Jace turns to find Cregan standing in the hall, staring. His hair is tousled like he’s been freshly scrubbing at it, his eyes red like he’s been crying. His voice is thick like he has been, too. Relief slackens his features as he takes in Rickon, limp and asleep in Jace’s arms.
Jace chuckles. “I told you, I have five younger siblings. I have my ways.”

Jace visits his classmate's apartment for a quiet study session (Not a study date. Definitely not a study date.) But what he finds is a very sleepless teething baby and Cregan at his wit's end.
And after Jace - magical, perfect Jace - manages to not only calm his son but Cregan as well, (twice, and very expertly and very hotly), Cregan faces the reality that this is more than just a study date. And it's time to go on a real one.

Jace stared down at the ditch filled with water out on the cross country course that spanned a significant portion of the Red Keep’s land. It was small really, a training question for young horses and riders. No more than two foot wide, and about the same deep, it was hardly anything. Barely a jump, more of an elevated canter stride for even young horses. Ice was more likely to step over it than jump it.
“I’m not jumping that, it’s a fucking trench.” Jace said, whilst Vermax stretched out his delicate nose to sniff at it, entirely unphased.
A lil drabble from a prompt challenge I did this summer! Equestrian Jacegan strikes again :)
