“I’d like to kiss you,” she says, and she doesn’t feel sorry about it, doesn’t feel shame. He swallows like there’s a lump in his throat, and his eyes flick from her lips to her eyes. He doesn’t necessarily look scared, but he does look a little bashful. She wonders if he’s thinking about her being a nun, decides that he probably is.
“Is that even allowed, for you,” he says, his voice a little teasing but not teasing enough for it not to actually be a question.
She nods, says, “In my opinion, yes. For myself—I cannot speak for what other nuns think on the matter. And for you, then? Is it even allowed,” she says, a little teasing, a little bit of a question—if he’s interested, if he wants this at all, or if she or he should really take the floor, now—if the bed has become not enough room.
