Summary
“Mr. Le Livre, wait! My mother was Yael Shahar,” the boy says, words rushing out so fast that Booker barely has time to register them.
But, when he does, the world seems to come to a screeching halt. Booker’s heart slams forward against his sternum and all the blood rushes from his head as the boy finally releases his grip. He doesn’t even need to hear the words that come from the boy next because, in his heart, he already knows, but they come anyway.
“My mother was Yael Shahar and…and I think you’re my father.”
Booker has it all: a wife he loves, a job that he doesn't hate, and the cutest three-and-a-half-year-old he could ask for. It's safe; It's normal. But when the mistakes of his past in Israel bring a far-away conflict right to his doorstep, he's forced to come to terms with his changing family, the reality of his country, and his Jewish identity.

Summary
He sees the crimson flood of blood before he even hears the crash of the door or Booker calling his name.
“Nicky, goddamn it, HELP!” the younger man shouts, desperation dripping from every syllable as Andy quickly ducks in front of him and sweeps the papers and books off the table.
Booker’s hands and face are stained with dirt and blood, mud caked on the knees of his pants and boots, but it’s the cutting fear and grief in his eyes that makes Nicky’s heart plummet into his stomach when he watches the younger man lay the little girl in his arms down.

Summary
They all have their reasons for doing this.
For Joe, it’s the inherent drive to meet injustice head on—the same reason his heart called him to Jerusalem almost eight and a half centuries ago. Joe can’t run from a fight, not when innocent people are involved. For Nicky, it’s because he knows firsthand what men like this can do—the destruction they can cause when left unchecked as he once was. He’s not about to let fascism win, especially not here at home.
For Booker, it’s personal.
It’s his people being packed into the ghettos and crammed into train cars. It’s his people being sent to camps built specifically to eliminate them. It’s his people, his community, his faith, and Booker refuses to stand by for even a single second.
In the wake of Nazi Germany’s attempted extermination of the Jewish people, Booker takes matters into his own hands. But, after a high-stakes mission leads to unintended consequences, he’s left to pick up the pieces. Joe and Nicky are there every step of the way.

Summary
“Are you sure you’re going to be able to handle seeing Mama again?” Benjamin asks, almost reading his mind over the phone. “I know you haven’t—”
“I’ll be fine, kiddo,” Booker mumbles, the lie coming out a little too easily. “Whatever issues your mom and I have don’t matter this weekend, not at your wedding.”
After a devastating accident and a vicious divorce ruins any hope of a happy ending for childhood sweethearts turned teen parents, Andy and Booker find themselves on opposite ends of the Mediterranean with no contact aside from strictly necessary emails.
But, after twenty years, they're forced back into each other's orbits when their now-grown son is getting ready for a wedding of his own. Can they put aside their differences and find civility for a single weekend or will they realize past wounds haven't healed as much as they thought.
After all, breaking up is hard to do.

Summary
“There…there is something I wanted to ask you.” His palms feel clammy as he dries them on his legs, unable to meet Andromache’s eyes. “How old are you?”
A bright, ringing laugh spills from the woman’s mouth, and it takes him a moment to remember whether or not she’s ever made such a sound around him. “Too old to remember, most days,” she jokes with a roll of her eyes. Andromache’s smile fades, though, when she looks up and notices the absence of one on his face. “Why do you ask?” she questions, that familiar wariness in her eyes. “After a certain time, it’s not important, but I think this matters to you for some reason.”
When Sébastien asks Andromache about a piece of her history, it fills in the gaps of his own.

Summary
The pair of candles are burnt down barely halfway before Sébastien drags her out of her chair and onto the divan.
Andromache’s head falls back with a soft moan as he frees her breasts from her dress, drawing one into his mouth and sucking gently. “Aren’t you—aren’t you suppose to be praying or something?” she asks breathlessly, fingers tangling deep in Sébastien’s sandy blond hair as he circles his tongue around her nipple.
He pulls off with a wet pop of his lips, grey-blue eyes already dark with want. “This is just as important.”
As the sun sets and Shabbat begins, Andromache finds out just how Sébastien plans to worship.

Summary
Okay, look, Booker wasn’t going to go around and say that most, if not all of the Hanukkahs that had passed during the long stretch of time since he had been forced to temporarily kick the oxygen habit for the first time had been anything but heartbroken or emotionally lonesome affairs for him.
It was the polar opposite of it this time around.
This Hanukkah was full of the comforting smell of Lykon and Joe’s pharmacy worth of luxurious hair care products, Nicky being the snuggliest overgrown Italian tomcat in existence, great food and even better company, and getting to spend some quality time with Yitzhak in their shockingly cozy cabin while he got an eyeful of their more fashionable and less socially paralyzed side.
Booker wouldn’t trade this for anything, and he didn’t think that Yitzhak would either.

Summary
When Booker was seven, Sundays meant playing pretend with Nile in the synagogue basement while their moms worked. Twenty years later, Booker receives a letter from a country he’s never heard of claiming that the ketubah he wrote in magic marker that one time he played pretend wedding with Nile requires his presence forthwith, so he can begin courting the heir to the throne. Booker insists it’s all an elaborate prank right up until his arrival on the lush Caribbean Isle of Nok. Instead of mischief afoot, it is an ancient fey magic, and Booker now faces the very real possibility of being married to a gorgeous soon-to-be queen.
Regardless of what anybody else thinks, Nile and Booker must figure out how to reconnect and decide if they think they have a future together on Nok.
Or, rom-com fantasy tropes crash landed into an exploration of intergenerational trauma, oppression, and liberation.

Summary
For a multi-millionaire partner at a private equity firm, Sébastien Lelivre looks incredibly unsure of himself. That doesn’t bode well for someone who wants to be her sugar daddy.
He doesn’t want to call it that, Nile thinks. He said it was a mutually beneficial companionship. And he wants me to call him Booker.
It's summer in New York, and Nile wants an adventure. Booker offers that— and so much more.

Summary
These supernatural bonds drawing them together, drawing all of them together; she guessed they were necessary, given everything. And now one of those bonds was going to be frayed. Soon Andy’s would be cut. Nile couldn’t help but feel like she’d come in at the second to last chapter.
Nile successfully argues for the benefits of apology and, eventually, grants a little mercy to herself, too.
