The Jade Emperor decides that Wukong's punishment would be better served in heaven's servitude. And Wukong can't do anything to escape because the Emperor has control over the circlet.

By the end of Duplicatnation a 'clone' had stuck around. Mei was disappointed in Mk, but even with how much he pressed pressure points or some wavy kung fu it wouldn't disappear like his other look-a-like.
Macaque needed to regain his strength. He was in no position to be able to get his Revenge. Though the fact Monkey King had got a successor and many clones of said kid running around town. He thought of the perfect plan to steal the kid's power. Pretend to be a clone, stick around the kid, and sap his power away! Should be easy!
Who would have thought he would....get attached.

[This Is An Inspired Au]
MK, Mei, and RedSon are all around the same age (6-7). MK is Monkey King's son but Monkey King had Pigsy and Tang watch MK in hope that would keep the boy away from those who wanted to claim his power. RedSon MK and Mei were all friends as kids and always played together (Btw DBK wasn't sealed away in this Au but that doesn't mean he likes Monkey King, though he does like MK and Mei)
One day the children went missing while they were playing at the playground. Everyone looked for days for them. There was no trace of them, no one knew specifically who would want to take them, and till this day they have never been found. But to add to the fact the kids went missing without a trace, Nezha (who was one of the ones looking for the children) also went missing, seeming to never be found as well.

MK's been struggling a lot since the fight with Azure. After training for so long to be better, he's scared with his new found powers he's going to hurt more than help. With a bit of help, and a few suprising twists, MK slowly find his way towards healing from his trauma - mostly thanks to Mei and Sandy insisting he take therapy.
