"Ugh, for Gaia's sake-- Eggman's alive!" Sonic cuts him off. "If you had just let me talk before trying to kill my family, I could have got to that! He's inside, perfectly safe."

Stone is shocked to find out Robotnik's still alive, albeit having lost his memory, and is being taken care of by their former enemies, the Wachowskis. He's even more surprised to find out Robotnik was pregnant when the Eclipse Cannon exploded, and now has a baby girl with big, shiny brown eyes. His big, shiny brown eyes.

"You seem upset." Shadow pipes up suddenly. "Why is that?"
"It's not important." Stone lies easily, breathing through the slight nausea that hit him at the mere thought of that...asshole Gerald.
"Is it about the professor?" Shadow asks, and damn these pregnancy hormones straight to hell.
"Can you keep a secret for me? Like, not tell the professor?" Stone asks, setting the bowl and wooden spoon away. Shadow nods, confused. "The reason...the reason I'm upset is because Robotnik seems to be pushing me aside in favor of the professor, and that really hurts my feelings because... because I'm having a baby with him. I'm carrying his child, his heir, and yet he seems to care more about his grandfather whom he's only known for less than a day."
Or
Stone is pregnant with Dr. Robotnik's child, and a conversation with Shadow convinces the hedgehog to decide against revenge and betray Gerald, saving Ivo and the entire world in the process.

Summary
It has been a hundred years since Eggman’s death. The passing of Cream’s childless daughter frees Gemerl from his service to the rabbit family. He searches to catch up with some old allies, Shadow and Omega, who have remained adventuring together due to a promise to their late friend Rouge. Meanwhile, A grown-up sage talks a malfunctioning Metal Sonic into looking for the help he needs. Once reunions happen, it appears the malfunction is not unique to the one who carries it. A race against an unforseen force begins in order to discover what secrets Eggman buried with him 100 years ago.

I had always wondered, but surely it had to be overconfidence, right? I had to know-
“It's just a hero's job, y’know?” he beamed at me as he uttered such nonsense, dripping with confidence.
Right, he's overconfident. No matter though, he had always said we’d win no matter what, maybe it was because we had the protection of silver watching over us to correct any deaths that were not written in the stars. Or perhaps he's just that good? I'll still remind him that losing is still a possibility, though, to keep him in check, just so he can prove me wrong every time.
Except for once..I was right, that's exactly what had happened, we lost, Sonic drowned. Well, just about. I saw the tan arms that waved just barely above the water, seeing those arms disappear under the blue depths was like a wave of dread I have not felt since..
