Obi-Wan keeps noticing a strange feeling in the back of his mind. It almost feels like a bond, but he hasn't created a bond with anyone new recently. It's strange, though---something about it is very familiar. It kind of reminds him of his lightsaber. As confused as he is, he isn't going to worry about it, though. It doesn't feel malevolent. In fact, it feels safe. So why would he question a good thing? (Even if it does keep getting stronger... and distracting him enough to make him walk into walls.)

Having already explained to his troopers that his saber's feelings do not necessarily reflect his own, Obi-Wan doesn't see the harm in letting them take turns holding it. After all, it's much better to figure out how it will react to them now, in a controlled environment, than in the middle of a battle. That's what this is about: preparing for all eventualities, and a dash of scientific curiosity. Definitely nothing to do with soulmates and who may or may not be their General's.
