It was easy to be sad about the things you couldn’t change. It was hard to let go of those things even if they were the same type of things that held you down. That’s all she knows. She knows how to be sad and angry about the things she has no power over. She has the character to fight for what she wants. Others have told her it’s not character but desperation that leads her. That she wants so badly to be loved, to be claimed and kept that she fights against what she already knows. And what she already knows is that Eren just doesn't love her. He doesn’t even like her. It was something that had come out during a predictable game of truth or dare. Floch had thought of the question for Eren and Mikasa had been surprised he didn’t choose dare.
** This is the stupidest most cliché, idiotic story but I'm posting it anyway just for fun even though it's so unoriginal. It's not complete yet and may not have a good plot or characters or story line so sorry in advance. Honestly this may make you cringe with how stupid it is, so fair warning! also spoiler, this isn't technically an Eren/Mikasa fic even though it'll seem that way while reading. It will be more focused on Mikasa in general and the end game is not Eremika.

A mirror sat a few feet to his left. Floch couldn’t help but peer out from the corner of his eye, watching himself shiver with anticipation. He looked like a man deep in prayer, with his hands reaching up to take hold of something holy and his head bowed in respect.
If Eren was a God, then did that make Floch an apostle, or a blasphemer?
He tried not to overthink it; his actions were ones of worship all the same.

“Don’t get sentimental on me.” Eren said seriously.
It was always that. A life of holding back, of not saying the things you wanted to. Eren was doing that now, purposely not talking about the things that would hurt. If he did, then it would become too much at least that’s what Floch thinks.
“I won’t.” Floch is firm with the reassurance he knows Eren needs. Eren needs him to agree, to pretend not to care as much as he does.
Eren’s so precious, so important and needed but he won’t speak on it. He won’t show his devotion in its fullest because it’ll only cause more problems. It’ll just be that much more that Eren won’t speak on. Floch can see it in his eyes, he can see how alone Eren feels. He can see the fear and the desire for things to have been different. He can see the power too, the confidence and inability to falter. He believes it all, that Eren can be so many different things at once. He used to think Eren was so simple and weak minded but looking at him now he doesn’t know how he ever believed that.

Somewhere along the line it blurred for him, turning into admiration, need; want. Eren could sense that about him just like he could everything else that made up Floch. He noticed the lingering glances and maybe he used that to his advantage. Maybe that was his leverage.
