Rush Clovis is happy to be with a kind a man who genuinely values him. He's begun to dress differently and has sought therapy for his attachment issues. Realizing he put too much blame on himself, he's chosen to distance himself from who he thought was an old friends.
When Padme and Rush cross paths at the first seven delegate balls, things come to a harsh head and both are left with salt in wound they didn't know they had. Outsiders watch and hope that its not the tone for the other gatherings.
