... It's a duck.
There's just a tiny bit of magic floating around after Willow ends the Will be Done spell, and it turns the resident captive vampire into a duckling. And he's so adorably angry about it. Question is now... who's going to take care of duckling!Spike? Oh, it's Buffy, of course.
But Spike being a duck doesn't mean everything else goes away. He's got a new perspective, and over time, so does Buffy. Changes to Season 4 grow as time goes on.
I'm sure someone's written something like this before, but I got the idea and here we are. The plot also started to happen, and now I can't stop it.

What if Sunnydale was a whole country and/or kingdom instead of some small town in California? In this kingdom, the 18 year old Crown Prince Angel is betrothed to fellow female student, 17 year old Buffy Summers due to an old promise made by their grandfathers. While the Royals have been anticipating the day to unite both families, Buffy’s family has no clue!
I got inspired to write this story after watching a Korean drama which was from a comic titled ‘Goong’ which means Palace in Korean. So as I was watching I thought what if the whole story was in Buffyverse?
It’s a take on monarchy in a modern setting. The language used will be casual. So, if they are in a relaxed situation, like say just hanging out, regular English is used but in a event or conversations within the royal family, may sound slightly formal but not extensively lofty.
Disclaimer: All Buffyverse characters belong to Joss Whedon and affiliated parties. I'd like to apologise upfront for any discrepancies or incorrect terms of information used throughout the story.
