Summary
“You act like you don’t want a cat as bad as I do,” James scoffs. There’s no malice behind it, and he knows Regulus knows that. He can feel it in the way Regulus’ knuckle gently trails down the side of his face. “But don’t leave me in suspense, love! I want to know –”
“Be quiet and I’ll tell you,” Regulus cuts in, laughing at James. James feels his heart flip at the sound of Regulus’ laugh; it’s like something of his dreams. His laugh manages to strike something deep in his chest, something that makes him feel so warm and whole and he feels his cheeks start to hurt with the force of his smile. “So I know I’m home kind of late, but I was picking up a few things…”
James watches Regulus reach into his right pocket after he trails off, pulling something out slowly. He watches his hands shake as he holds it out to James, and James looks at him funny.
“What –”
“Read it, baby,” Regulus breathes out shakily, and James nods, taking it between his fingers.
