    Yet, his hand was intercepted before he was able to.

    “Let it heal, Katsuki,” a voice gently ordered. It was Shouta; Katsuki could tell.

    He met the eyes of his teacher, surprised to see tears pooling under his eyelids.

    Killua hesitated.
    Then, finally—“…Killua. Killua Zoldyck.”
    Aizawa nodded.
    “Alright, Killua. We’ll figure this out. You’re not in trouble. You’re not under arrest. But you’re not safe out there alone, either. Not in this world.”
    Killua’s eyes narrowed. “…I don’t trust you.”
    “That’s fair,” Aizawa said calmly. “But I’ve got no reason to hurt you. And I’ve got every reason to make sure you don’t get hurt again.”

    After a violent weekend in his foster home, on a surprisingly rainy night, Aizawa finds Shinsou, soaking wet and absolutely covered in bruises.

     

    Shinsou should be filled with rage, with the want or need for some form of vengeance, but all he feels in the moment is alone. It’s 9 p.m. on a sunday night, he has no money, no phone, and no energy left. He finds a decently dry spot to hunker down near the mouth of an alley. Sitting with his back supported by the concrete wall behind him he tries to take mental inventory of his injuries. His whole body aches, but that's what no food for two and a half days worth of being slapped around will get you, and it’s honestly nothing new for him.
