Osamu is just stupid enough to announce he’s gonna stop volleyball after high school. His bed is too short for his now six-foot tall frame. His appetite is enormous. His love for volleyball is infinite. His thirst, the need to be something, anything, is unquenchable. “They took my tongue!” he yelled again, hands poking at his inflamed cheeks, desperately trying to shove his fingers into his mouth to mess with the gauze.
Atsumu snorted, gently moving his hands back to his sides, “They didn’t take your tongue, Omi, they removed your wisdom teeth because they hurt, remember?”
Kiyoomi’s eyes widened, and he looked between the hygienist and Atsumu, eyes growing watery, “They stole my teeth?!?!

Summary
At sixteen, he discovered that kicking the top bunk where Osamu was sleeping would lead to a bloody nose and a month's worth of being grounded. At seventeen, he had the unfortunate realization that bleach would strip your hair if you didn’t deep condition it after. At eighteen, he may have learned the hardest lesson of all: arguing with a referee over a bad call would get you ejected from the game…and benched for the next two.
Or: Atsumu spends his time trying not to argue with refs, so Kiyoomi decides to do it on his behalf. Atsumu copes about as well as you think he might.
