Chapter Text
“Aww, c’mon, Deku! It’ll be fun!” Ochaco squealed, in her usual cheery voice.
“I have to train, you know that…”
“Ahh but you’re always training! Just take one day off!”
Izuku sighed, “Okay.. I’ll join you for a little bit.. But then I’m going back!”
Ashido whooped, walking past them. “TO THE PARK!!”
All of, with the exception of Katsuki, class 1A had been convinced into joining Ashido and Ochaco to the park. As they walked out of the dorms, Izuku saw Katsuki, “Are you sure you don’t want to come, Kacchan?”
“Yes, I’m sure, damn Deku. The park’ll be full of annoying brats.” Izuku sighed, and continued to follow the rest of the class.
The second they walked onto the grass, a little boy bounded up to them. “You! I seen you guys on the TV! The sports festival! You was really good!” The boy rambled on a bit, seemingly knowing everything about each of them. “Hey! Do you think I can get into U.A., too? I been training real hard for it!”
“Of course you can kiddo, what’s your quirk?” Ashido seemed honestly interested in what he had to say, which wasn’t so much the case for the rest of 1A after he bombarded them all with information.
“I can do this!!” The boy then lifted his hand in the air, and each of his fingers changed form, one was seemingly the end of a dagger, another a tentacle, and so on. “It kinda hurts, but it’s really cool, right??”
“Yeah, dude! You could totally become a hero in no time!” Eijiro laughed, and said “So where’s your mom at, little man? She must be pretty worried!”
“I’m here with my friend and his mama! My mama’s busy. Oh! Oh! My friend is over there! Go meet him!” the boy paused, “Wait no, just one of you, he’s real shy, and when he’s nervous his quirk activates without him wantin’ it to.”
“Which one of us do you think should go?” Ochaco asked him,
“Hmm.. He wanted Midoriya to win the festival, he should go! C’mon!” The boy took Izuku’s hand, and started running off with him, towards a smaller boy, sitting in the sandbox.
“Heey! Touma! Come meet Midoriya!”
The smaller boy, presumably Touma’s, head shot up at this “Ah! Wait! You scared me Kaito!”
The first boy, Kaito, stopped immediately. “Oh, did it activate?”
“N-no… maybe? I’m not too sure, I can’t tell-” As Touma looked up at Izuku, his face lit up, “You- you’re… Izuku Midoriya? I-I…” he rushed up, took Izuku’s hand and shook it vigorously. “I- I really liked you in the sports festival! You did really good! I-it’s an honor to meet you!”
Izuku was taken aback from this, he wasn’t quite used to having ‘fans’ let alone have anyone this excited to meet him, he hadn’t even placed the top 3 in the sports festival, “I- um… Thank you so much! I’ll do my best to become a great hero, okay?”
Just then, an older woman called them both towards her, “O-oh.. that’s my mama." Touma said," Goodbye Midoriya! Good luck!” Both boys waved goodbye as they ran up to the woman, both embracing her.
“Deku! I’m jealous! That kid was so cute! And he was so excited to meet you! That must’ve felt awesome, huh?” Ochaco smiled at him, “What was his name?”
“I’m pretty sure it’s Touma, he was so great!”
Ochaco and he continued talking, some others from 1A joining them as well. Before they knew it, it was almost curfew, and they all knew Aizawa wouldn’t excuse them if they were out even a minute past 10pm.
Midoriya took longer than usual to fall asleep that night.
--
Everyone awoke to an ear piercing screech.
“MAMA? WHERE ARE YOU? W-WHERE AM I? ”
A child? What’s a kid doing in the dorms…? Aizawa thought, as he lugged his tired body through the hall, trying to find the source of the screams. One by one, students started bursting out of their rooms,
“What’s that screaming?" One said, “Did a kid get in here?”
Everyone was panicking at the sudden chaos. Aizawa could only do his best to ease them, “Calm down, everyone. Jirou, use your quirk to find where that shrieking is coming from, everyone else, quiet down!”
Kyoka plugged her earphone into the wall, closing her eyes. “It’s coming from… Midoriya’s room?”
Odd, he thought.
Aizawa threw open Izuku’s room door, only to find a smaller, toddler looking Izuku, huddled in the corner, crying his heart out. Jesus fucking Christ… Aizawa whispered under his breath, walking towards the child.
“W-who are you? W-where’s my mom? Did she send me away?” Little Izuku could barely get the words before everyone saw him, and the chaos started all over again.
Everyone was talking over each other, and Izuku was crying even harder now, but through all the noise, one voice still reigned over them all. “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON OUT HERE? IT’S 4 IN THE FUCKING MORNING.” Katsuki’s voice boomed through the halls, making everyone but Izuku silent.
“Is that a fucking kid? What the fuck is a kid doing in here? Little brat.”
“Bakugou, that’s Deku! He’s... He's a kid again!” Ochaco answered.
Katsuki’s scowl let up, and he pushed past everyone to get to Izuku’s doorway, only to see that she wasn’t lying. Aizawa was kneeling on the floor, clearly unsure of what to do, next to a crying, toddler, Izuku.
Katsuki started marching towards the scene, Kaminari started, “Dude, wait! Don’t do anything to scare-”
“I won’t, shut up, Pikachu.”
Aizawa glared at him, intent on making sure he did nothing to hurt this innocent child.
“Izuku.”
Everyone stopped, mouths agape, did Katsuki just call him Izuku?
“What’s the last thing you remember” Katsuki’s voice was stiff, seemed calming to the little boy crying in front of them all.
“I- I remember Mama… she was holding me and she kept saying ‘I’m so sorry.’” He paused for a second, “Kacchan? When did you get so tall?”
The blond kneeled down to Izuku, “Yesterday was really something then, huh?” Katsuki avoided the question as best he could, everyone still gawking at how he was treating Izuku.
“Bakugou, what happened to Deku 'yesterday'?” Ochaco asked,
Tears began to form in Izuku’s eyes once more, “P-please don’t call me that…”
Ochaco flinched, she forgot that he wouldn’t know her yet.
“None of your business. Now tell me what the hell happened at the park.”
Asui chimed in, “It must have been that child he met with the unstable quirk, what was his name again? Ribbit”
Ochaco’s eyes lifted, “Ah! I think his name was Touma!”
Aizawa stood, “We have to find that child, and figure out how to reverse his quirk immediately. Uraraka, you saw what he looked like yes?” Ochaco nodded. “Then you’re coming with me, we’re going to find him.”
“Yes sir! But what about Deku- er, Midoriya?”
Aizawa sighed, “I hate to do this, but, Bakugou, I’m leaving him in your care since you knew him during this time, take him to his mother.”
Bakugou looked up at him, “He won’t recognize her, auntie’s changed a lot”
Auntie? The class thought almost in unison, Bakugo's demeanor had completely changed.
“Then figure something out, take him to your mom or something, and explain to him the situation.” Aizawa then sped out, with Ochaco tagging along right behind him.
As they left, Katsuki picked up the now calm Izuku, and started out as well.
Eijiro stopped him, “Wait, Bakubro! Let me come too!”
The others started to come forward as well, all their words tumbling together, Me too! I want to go! C’mon, man, let us come!
Tenya held out a hand in front of all of them, silencing them. “Everyone! I think it would be most appropriate if we were all to go, Midoriya’s mother will need comforting, and we should all be there to-”
“You really are set on making a single mother worry as much as possible, arn’t you?” Bakugou interrupted.
Class 1A all erupted at once, 'SINGLE MOTHER?' 'Midoriya never told us anything about that!' 'What happened to his father?'
A small voice made them all stop, “Kacchan, who are those people? I wanna go see Mommy and Auntie… Do you think they’ll take me back after what happened?”
“Of course they will, Izu. Let’s go.” and he started out for the door once more, again, being stopped by Eijiro, “At least tell us why you’re being so good with him… I thought you were terrible with kids”
Katsuki sighed, “Yesterday was shitty for him. Now get outta my face, Shark Teeth"
--
Katsuki rang the doorbell of his house, which he shouldn’t have to do, but if he just waltzed in he would definitely get hit upside the head.
He rang again, and again, and almost a third time until the door swung open. “WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT? IT’S SO FUCKING EARLY- oh. It’s just you. What did you do this time?” An expected response from his mother, and another reason he didn’t want anyone else to come.
“I didn’t do anything hag, Izuku got hit by some shitty quirk,” he put down Izuku, and gestured to him.
“Auntie! A-are you mad at me?” Izuku almost looked scared to approach her, but still looked at her with those sparkling eyes he looked at everyone with.
“No, of course not, Izu! Why would I be mad?” Mitsuki knelt down next to him, and pulled him into her arms. “Katsuki, does Inko know about all of this?”
“No, not yet. Do you really think he’ll recognize her?”
Mitsuki looked almost offended, “Hey, you know sure as hell that she’s still as beautiful as ever!”
Katsuki sneered, “Yeah, yeah, you can talk about your woman-crush later, old hag. I need you to help explain to him what’s going on, the last thing he remembers is finding out he has an extra toe joint, and he thinks auntie sent him away.”
Mitsuki’s eyes widened at this, “Oh, you poor thing, your mom loves you a whole lot, even if you don’t have a quirk, okay?”
“T-then why did she send me away…” Izuku sniffled, looking up at her.
Mitsuki continued to explain how his future self, (present self?) was hit by a quirk, that his mom still loved him, that she didn’t, and would never send him away.
“Where was I when I woke up?” Izuku looked at Katsuki;
The boy sighed, “You were at U.A.”
Izuku jumped up, ecstatic. “You got into U.A., Kacchan? I knew you would! What’s it like there? Do you learn a lot about being a hero? You have to become the best hero ever!”
It was funny, in a way. Izuku had completely ruled out the possibility that he had gotten into U.A..
“You’re in there too, y’know. Why else would you wake up there, dumbass?”
Izuku’s eyes lit up even more, if that was even possible. He bombarded Katsuki with questions, Am I doing good? Are we heros together? Is that why all those people in there knew me? How did I get in?
Katsuki stopped him, “Don’t you wanna go see your mom?”
Izuku jumped up, “Yes! Let’s go!”
--
As Katsuki, Izuku in his arms, (he seemed to like it there) went wo ring the doorbell, his mother grabbed his arm. “Wait. let me call her first to make sure she’s not too surprised when she sees him”
Katsuki put his hand down, and leaned against the railing as his Mother talked on the phone with the woman theoretically only a few feet away, “Hey, Inko, yeah, I know it’s early, but it’s important. Izuku was hit by a quirk that seems to have replaced him with a younger version of himself. Yeah…”
You could hear Inko through the phone, and if you listened closely, through the walls. “Mhmm, I’m outside with him and Katsuki”
As she said that the door flew open, and Inko lunged herself at Izuku, taking him out of Katsuki’s arms and into her own. “Oh, my poor baby! Izu, you recognise me right? Did I change too much?”
Izuku hugged her as tight as he could, “Mama! I thought you sent me away because I don’t have a quirk! You won’t, right? Promise you won’t!”
Inko was starting to form tears in her eyes, “Never! I Promise! I’ll never send you away!”
They continued like this for a while, about an hour, both crying into each other, (they really were the same) until Katsuki got a call.
Call From… Shitty Hair
“Oi, Is Aizawa back? Did they find the brat?”
Eijiro chuckled, “I’ve never seen you care this much about Midoriya man, it’s weird! But yes, they found the kid. You should come back here so Aizawa can give you the details, I wasn’t really listening, so I can’t tell you, sorry. Anyway, come by soon, I’ll talk to you later”
He hung up.
“Auntie, we have to go to Aizawa to get the details of the quirk, are you coming?” Inko looked up at him, her face still wet with tears, “Of course, lead the way.”
--
“Come sit down, Ms. Midoriya.”
Aizawa gestured to a couch in the lounge. “The good news is, It’s not permanent,”
Thank God
“The bad news is, it will last about 6 days.”
Damnit.
“Whatever happens while he’s here will not affect his past self, nor his future, neither will have any recollection of what happens during this time, but it would still be best for him to get proper care.”
Inko turned into a stuttering mess at this, “I- there’s no way I’ll be able to- I have work and- it’s been so long since I-”
“Inko, calm down,” Mitsuki, whom had come along, rubbed her back a bit, “we’ll figure something out, alright?”
“But- There’s no way he could stay with you, you’re always so busy and-”
The doors swung open (that’s been happening a lot recently, huh?) and All Might, in his newfound, lanky, form came bursting in. “I heard what happened, is Young Midoriya okay?”
“Yes, everything is fine." Aizawa stated, "We’re just trying to figure out where he’ll be staying. Ms. Midoriya and Ms. Bakugou are too busy to take care of him. Any recommendations?”
All Might paused for a minute, “Why not have Young Bakugou care for him? I’m told by the students he’s been doing well so far.”
Katsuki shot up, “WHAT?” Izuku looked up at him, almost looking disappointed by his reaction.
Inko looked up at All Might, “That might be a good idea, if it weren't for Katsuki having classes, Izu has been attached to him the entire time, but I couldn’t ask him to disrupt his class time for my sake...”
Aizawa spoke up, “It seems like the most convenient option for now, of course I could also have the rest of the class help out, it would be a good learning experience for them to take care of a child. Besides, we already had to cancel classes today because of this little… issue.”
Inko still looked torn, “I suppose it would be alright but… is Katsuki okay with this?”
She looked up at him, hopefully, while Mitsuki glared daggers at him, it would be a crime not to accept. “Fine. I’ll take care of him.”
Izuku hopped up and clung to Katsuki’s thigh, “Hooray! I get to spend time with Kacchan!”
Katsuki rustled his hair, “Yeah, I guess you do.”
