Loki stood in the cold room and stared at the wall. It’s pattern bothered them somehow because it wasn’t really a pattern. Just by sliding and twisting it a bit it would all line up perfectly but it never will. That somehow reminded Loki of themself.
How couldn’t have they saw this Situation coming?
All of this was actually very logic. The TVA recruited them to fix timelines while they themselves was the Result of a flaw in the flow of time. Of course they had to return to their timeline. They are the most intelligent Person they know how couldn’t have they saw this coming?
But that actually wasn’t the biggest Question that was floating through their head right now. They was actually way more confused by the rising feeling of melancholy. It felt like they was saying goodbye to something beloved. But what could that be? Even though at this point they didn’t really wanted to burn the whole TVA to the ground they didn’t exactly liked it here either. But this Place had to had something good that Loki would miss.
Right on cue the second person entered the room. Loki hadn’t even had to turn around to know it was Mobius.
“What are you doing here?” ,they finally asked but without turning around.
“I actually wanted to say goodbye, asshole.” ,he answered and let a little smile wander on Lokis face with that.
“Friendly as always.”
“With every sentence you say i feel like Im going to miss you less.”
Oh that Loki turned around and smiled a little smug at Mobius.
“So, you are going to miss me, huh?”
Mobius rolled his eyes but still answered as he probably thought that they where never going to see each other again anyways and so he might as well be honest. “Yeah, actually I am going to miss you.”
Loki was honestly pretty surprised by that answer. It was quite a nice thought tho that Mobius liked them enough to miss them. The two of them stood in silence for a bit thoughtfully looking in the eyes of the other. Lastly Loki asked after a while, “Aren't you going to ask me if Im going to miss you too?”
A distend smile formed on Mobius face before he answered, “I am honestly kind of afraid of the answer.”
“Of course Im going to miss you.” ,they blurred out before they could think about it.
Mobius grinned again.
“Like, I absolutely hate to say that but working with you was really… great.”
The other kept grinning while he shook his head at Lokis words whilst Loki thought about them. It wasn’t in question that they had meant it. Working with Mobius was way better than they originally expected it to be.
Loki was a diva and Mobius a bureaucrat. They were the perfect and the most chaotic Team at the same time. They where constantly teasing each other and made each other crazy and that was why they harmonised so well. Actually Loki thought that they were such a good couple because they were so different. Mobius drove them crazy but somehow they liked it. It also was very hard to be mad at someone who looked way to cute while reading some reports.
They maybe shouldn’t let their thoughts wander in such directions.
Loki suddenly realised that they and Mobius had been silently looking in each other’s eyes for way to long. Maybe Loki should do as Mobius and admit to themself that they were never going to see each other again. Now wasn’t the time for lying.
They had sought the one thing in the TVA they was going to miss and he was standing right in front of them.
Both winced a bit at the orange portal that opened beside them with the ding of an elevator.
“I guess this is goodbye then.” ,said Mobius and hold out his hand for Loki.
Loki took that hand and pulled the bureaucrat in for a hug. Thankfully Mobius wrapped his arms around them. For a few Moments that felt like the time has stoped and was over way to soon at the same time they just stood there and held onto each other.
Then they let go of each other but didn’t quite stepped away jet, but locked eyes.
“Im really going to miss you.” ,said Loki but didn’t know why they was whispering. There was no one else here.
There looks trapped each other again. The Moment stretched and stretched like a rubber band and finally ripped. Loki pulled Mobius just a little bit closer and kissed him softly.
Mobius tensed up for a second and Loki had to be afraid they had done a horrible mistake, but than Mobius kissed them back and the whole room around them faded away as it wasn’t nearly as important as the man in their arms.
They’re kiss was short and sweet. As they pulled away and suddenly returned to reality Loki felt a wave of sadness flow over them and almost let him drown.
“You do realise that you made the whole saying goodbye thing way more harder than it already was, do you?” ,Mobius finally asked. Loki couldn’t do anything but be impressed by this wonderful Man who even in this moment didn’t fail to make them grin. They continued to hold him tight as if they didn’t had to leave him if they just held them tight enough.
But before Mobius gave the god a change to further think about this Mobius pulled him down into another kiss. This second kiss was way less short and sweet than the first one tho. They kissed like there life’s were depending on it. Maybe in a way it was. They kissed with clashing of Tongues and bites and they only stoped after a little eternity to take a breath.
Slowly the cruel reality started to show itself to them again. They only were in this situation because Loki had to go.
Nearly in the same moment the two of them looked at the portal.
Loki would be transported to the exact point where they went after they got the tesseract. They then could do whatever they wanted to do. Loki wasn't quite sure what this was anymore tho. When they met the first time Mobius had shown them how their life would have played out if they hadn’t picked up the tesseract. He showed them how they got locked up in Asgard, how they mourned over their mothers death, how they where king of Asgard for a few years, how they and their brother got closer again and how his life ended.
Loki looked back at mobius and realised they had to go. It was time.
It wouldn’t make any sense to further bath in the elusion this moment wasn’t finite. They had to go and there was no other way. All the “What if’s” floating in his mind where unnecessary and idiotic. Their and Mobius time had been finite from the beginning and now it all came to its tragic end. It was time.
“Look out for yourself and stay away from purple aliens.” ,mobius said with a sad smile on his lips. The same lips that where still red and marked from Lokis bits.
The god smiled back. They then took the tesseract and wanted to step through the portal.
But before that they turned around and gave Mobius one last biter-sweet kiss. They looked eyes once again and understood each other in silence. With a last longing look on the man in the grey suit Loki stepped through. All of the sudden everything was gone.
The god stood fully alone on a Field with Cornflowers fluttering in the wind. Now they couldn’t resist but to ask themselves what could have been but never will be.
