Bucky: hi

Sam: hey, what's up? about to board

Bucky: I was just wondering, since I know you're getting in kind of late and I don't know how tired you'll be

Bucky: should I make up the couch or are you just going to crash in my room?

Sam: I'm good with either, totally up to you

Bucky: it would just be a little easier to have the couch free I feel like

Bucky: and I feel bad making you sleep on the couch when you let me take over your room while I was there

Sam: really wasn't a big deal

Sam: like I said, I don't want you dying of heat stroke

Bucky: yeah, I know. and it's fine if you'd prefer the couch

Bucky: it's actually probably safer, I've been having more nightmares since I got home

Sam: buck, I'm not afraid of you having a nightmare

Sam: your bed is fine if you don't mind

Bucky: I don't

Sam: do you know why you're having more?

Bucky: no

Sam: I feel like this is just a ploy to get me to help you relax by playing with your hair tonight

Bucky: it's not

Bucky: although if it was, would it be working?

Sam: was already planning on it

Bucky: oh

Bucky: why?

Sam: I don't know, you seemed to like it

Bucky: aren't you the one who's stressed and trying to sort shit out?

Sam: I can multitask

Sam: if you don't want me to, though, that's fine

Bucky: I didn't say that

Sam: so bucky just asked me whether I wanted him to make up the couch or just stay in his room

Sarah: so you said couch, right?

Sam: funny

Sam: he tried to backtrack because it's probably "safer" on the couch

Sarah: well, I know that that's really your primary concern

Sarah: jokes aside, how are you doing?

Sam: okay

Sam: before this summer I wouldn't have felt quite as confident in his ability to help me sort through a lot of this shit, but you were right - he's not always great at talking through his feelings, but he is good at listening to mine

Sarah: yeah, it definitely seemed that way.

Sarah: I'm glad. I mean, I'm always here for you, but I think that some of the things you're grappling with right now are just things that I'm not going to get.

Sam: which is fine. it's really, really fine. you don't need to get everything.

Sarah: sam, I love you, but stop trying to take care of me and focus on you right now, okay?

Sarah: jokes aside, I'm really glad you're trying to dig into some of this stuff, because the way you haven't slowed down since you got back really had been starting to worry me.

Sarah: I love you. hang in there.

Sam: I know. I love you, too.

Sam: thanks, sarah.

Sarah: always.

Sarah: call if you need to, and let me know how things are going when you get the chance.

Sam: I will.

Sarah: and don't do that shit you do sometimes where the minute another person walks into the room you're trying to lighten the mood with bucky or your therapist.

Sam: I feel called out

Sarah: I know how you work

Bucky: do you want me to meet you at the airport, or are you planning to just fly from there?

Sam: no to flying, I was planning on just grabbing a cab

Sam: but you don't have to come meet me, I'm not made of glass

Sam: I'm just working through some stuff

Bucky: yeah, well

Bucky: I could use a run

Sam: right, of course

Sam: those nice relaxing late night 15 mile runs

Bucky: it's like 13, stop being dramatic

Sam: well, that changes everything

Bucky: I'll meet you there

Sam: because you need a run

Bucky: right

Sam: I'm not even going to bother arguing with you

Sam: thanks for giving a shit, even though this particular way of showing it is completely unnecessary

Notes:

sam's putting off dealing with his own issues by distracting himself with everyone else's and lightening the mood with laughing and jokes (that's what the show read like to me, anyway) spoke to my goddamn soul.

in today's 🌈 news: sha’carri richardson, who just qualified to represent the united states in track & field at the olympics this past weekend, said that her girlfriend chose her hair color (because she's on fire 😭🔥) and has mentioned being bi in the past. 💖💜💙
