Chapter 1: Author's Note
Chapter Text
So, an explanation is in order
In 5th and 6th grade (yes, that long ago), I was REALLY into the Harry Potter series. So into it, in fact, that I planned on making a series of 7 full-length fan films about the Marauders. Obviously, nothing ever came of this, but I had written the entirety of a movie script for the first one.
The script was hot garbage and full of song performances of copyrighted music (tell me you're a Glee fan without telling me you're a Glee fan) and also really fucking long.
Seriously, this thing had ninety scenes
I've avoided it for trauma reasons, but I think I'm finally in a proper headspace to share it. I plan to rewrite it (I kinda have to anyways since the script is on paper) so that :
A) It's in the format of a fanfiction and not a movie script
B) It's less trash
So... That's what this is. I don't know how many chapters this will be, but considering the film script had ninety scenes, it'll probably be kinda long. Let's do this, I guess
Chapter 2: Chapter 1
Chapter Text
James woke up one morning, excited. Today was the day that he was to go to Hogwarts, the school he always wanted to go to. He was finally old enough to attend, and he couldn't possibly be more thrilled. He was gonna learn spells and hexes and maybe even make friends and get up to all sorts of mischief.
So, he finished packing his bags and ran downstairs to his parents, who brought him to the King's Cross train station. He stood in front of pillar nine and decided to take a look around him, all the while fantasizing about what life at Hogwarts would be like. I need to get into Gryffindor. I have to. Then, I can make some cool Gryffindor friends he thought to himself. It was then that he spotted a pale and scrawny boy standing somewhat nearby. For some reason, James really did not like that kid.
Given that the other boy was also eyeballing pillar nine, it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he too was a wizard. He's probably a Slytherin James thought to himself, his hostility towards this kid growing. He didn't even know the guy, but that didn't stop him from hating his guts.
Suddenly, a girl walked up to the probably-a-Slytherin kid. James felt his face heat up slightly at the sight of her. She was a very pretty girl, in James' opinion. The other boy seemed to also think so, as a small blush came to his face as he talked with the girl. James felt the anger towards this other boy growing more and more by the second. New mission James thought to himself Get the girl. Get rid of the boy.
Now, with his new plan in mind, James decided to actually pay attention to the conversation happening between the other two. "You better be in Slytherin" the boy said playfully, confirming James' suspicion that the kid was the snakey type. The girl just playfully rolled her eyes before running through the pillar with her stuff and disappearing. The boy followed close behind.
Here goes nothing James thought to himself before running into the pillar as well.

Platform 9 & 3/4. That's where James found himself after running through the pillar. He brought his things onto the Hogwarts Express and soon found a compartment that wasn't full yet. He set his luggage under the seat and sat down, only then full taking in the other kid in the space.
It was a young boy with black hair. He also appeared to be a first-year, as he lacked any sort of clothing related to any of the four houses, and he just seemed to be around the same age. James sat down next to him, because why not? Might as well get to know this kid in case they ended up in the same house, right?
"First year as well?" James asked. The other boy smiled and nodded, holding out his hand, which James accepted in a handshake. "My name is Sirius" the other boy said. "Sirius Black. You?" he asked with a big grin. Something didn't sit right with James when he heard the boy's surname. "James" he responded "James Potter. So... Part of the Black family? I suppose you want to know of my blood status then?"
Sirius' eyes went wide at this accusation. He really didn't want to come across as the type to be obsessed with blood superiority and all that. "No no no" he said nervously, holding his hands up "Please don't think I'm prejudiced. I don't care about that stuff. My parents do, but not me. Big fans of You-Know-Who, they are. But me? No. Not at all. Mum actually wants me to be in Slytherin but..." he trailed off, looked around, and then whispered "I actually want to be a Gryffindor"
James smiled now. He was glad to hear that this Sirius Black kid also wanted to be in Gryffindor. He seemed friendly enough. Maybe they could even be friends. "Me too" James said with a grin "Honestly, if I were to end up in Slytherin, I'd probably just move schools" he joked, gaining a small chuckle from Sirius.
Suddenly, they heard the sound of the compartment door sliding open, and looked up to see another boy, also seemingly their age. One thing really stood out about this kid though, besides his overall kind of nervous presentation.
The kid had several big marks across his face.
"Who are you?" James asked in a friendly, curious tone. The new kid smiled and sat across from Sirius. "Remus" the kid replied "Remus Lupin. And uh... Apologies if I'm a bit irritable" he said with a nervous grin. James wasn't sure what to make of that last statement, so he just gave a small "It's fine" before focusing back on those scars.
"What's with those marks on your face?" James asked. Sirius wanted to slap him for being so blunt about it, but Remus just chuckled nervously, avoiding eye contact with both boys. "They're s-scratches" he stuttered out quietly. James bit back a sarcastic comment of Yeah, no shit because he actually wanted a chance at being this kid's friend, even if he was a bit odd.
"Where did the scratches come from?" Sirius asked gently, his tone serving to reassure Remus that he didn't need to answer if he didn't want to. Remus froze a bit at hearing the question but slowly mumbled out a small "I... Am a werewolf"
He had been expecting fear or rejection, but instead, he was met with understanding and concern for his well-being. "Are you okay?" James asked, being genuinely kind for the first time. His mask of "I'm a badass Gryffindor" had slipped away, and now he just seemed to want to make sure that Remus was alright.
"Yeah, I'm alright" Remus reassured nervously "If you don't want to talk to me ever again, I understand" he continued, looking away and nervously scratching the back of his neck "I'm not exactly the type that people want to be around knowing I could go completely mental"
"We'll be your friends" Sirius and James both said in unison. They exchanged a look at each other once they realized they had said the same thing. Sirius' was one of... Jealousy? James didn't know why Sirius would be jealous but it didn't really matter anyway. At least Remus would have some friends, even if one was an asshole and the other was kind of awkward.
"Thanks" Remus said with a small smile before lying down against the window to sleep. Werewolves (especially those that were children) often had a lot of energy, but he hadn't actually slept in several days and finally felt tired enough to rest, so he took the opportunity. It would be a long train ride anyway. Sirius smiled and took off his jacket, slowly placing it over the sleeping boy before going to sleep himself.
At some point, another boy walked into the compartment and quietly sat next to Remus. "Who are you?" James asked, quietly as to not wake either of the sleeping boys. The new boy flinched slightly at the sudden talking but then actually responded.
"Peter Pettigrew"

Summary:
The sorting ceremony happens
Chapter Text
Eventually, the ride to Hogwarts came to an end.
Eventually, everyone was in the Great Hall. The older students goofed off with their friends in their respective houses, whilst the first years were gathered near the Sorting Hat. Each and every one of them was mentally prepping themselves to be sorted. Some had specific preferences on what house they got in, while others didn't have a specific want. Either way, it was a bit nerve-wracking, just waiting to be called.
Professor McGonagall walked up to the front of the platform and began calling names. "SEVERUS SNAPE!" she called, and that boy from back at the train station walked up and sat down, smiling as the Sorting Hat was placed on his head. James chuckled to himself. Now he had a name to put to this kid. Severus Snape he thought to himself More like Snivellus Snake!
Unsurprisingly, Snape was sorted into Slytherin only moments later.
"What a shocker" James remarked sarcastically, gaining a small chuckle out of Sirius and Peter. Remus seemed a bit less amused by the joke, as he didn't really have any disliking to the kid, but still smiled to be polite to his new friend. "LILY EVANS!" McGonagall then shouted, and the ginger girl from earlier went to get sorted. James found this "Lily Evans" girl very pretty and was very glad to hear the Sorting Hat put her in Gryffindor.
"PETER PETTIGREW!" McGonagall shouted, and Peter nervously went up to the sorting hat. "Hmmm" the Sorting Hat hummed, deep in thought "Heart of a Slytherin... Aura of a Hufflepuff... What's this?" He said suddenly, picking up on Peter's thoughts. He sensed a strong want for a specific house and decided to just give the kid what he wanted. "GRYFFINDOR!"
Peter walked off to the Gryffindor table and began a friendly conversation. James felt some jealousy stir in the pit of his stomach. "That rat" he said to himself, quiet enough to not be heard "He better not take my girl" he said, gritting his teeth in anger. "JAMES POTTER!"
James' returned his attention to the Sorting Hat and walked up. Before the hat even touched his head, it yelled "GRYFFINDOR!", and James smiled as he went to the table, sitting with Lily and Peter. Remus turned to Sirius as other names were called. "He's gone mad" Remus said flatly in reference to James' behavior. "We're eleven! Why does he care about dating?"
Sirius just chuckled nervously at that.
"REMUS LUPIN!" McGonagall shouted. "Here goes nothing" Remus said to Sirius with a nervous expression before running up to the Sorting Hat. He was soon sorted into Gryffindor, which brought a small smile to Sirius' face. He took Remus for more of the Ravenclaw type, but he was glad to see that Remus got to still hang out with James and Peter, even if James was an asshole and Peter was kind of creepy.
Remus sat with James, Peter, and Lily at the Gryffindor table. He and Peter exchanged a small nod of acknowledgment, but James seemed more invested in talking to Lily. "So..." James started with a shit-eating grin. "That Snivellus McSlytherin Snake guy... He's your friend, Lily?" Lily gave James a glare at that before replying with an annoyed "If you're talking about Severus, then yes. He's my friend"
"He's a bit dumb though, isn't he?" James asked judgmentally, causing Lily to glare at him and stand up. "You're rotten, James" she said coldly before moving away to the other end of the table. "Probably for the best" Remus said flatly, getting an offended look from James. "You're far too young for romance anyways"
"GRYFFINDOR!" the Sorting Hat suddenly shouted, and soon Sirius joined them at the table. "That gross old hat tried to place me in Slytherin" he said, clearly a bit annoyed. "Why?" Remus asked, confused (mainly because, if he was supposed to be Slytherin, why did it say Gryffindor?) "My parents were Slytherins" Sirius replied flatly. "Oh"
"So, James" Sirius said suddenly, turning towards the Potter. "How's it going with that Slytherin girl?" he asked with a curious expression. "DON'T ENCOURAGE HIM, SIRIUS!" Remus suddenly shouted in anger, causing the other three boys to look at him with scared expressions. As soon as Remus realized what he just did, his own face turned to horror. "S-Sorry" he stuttered out, anxious. "I didn't mean- I- I don't- I'm so sorry"
"What was that for?" Peter asked suddenly. "Who are you?" Remus asked instead, deflecting the question. "Peter" the blonde introduced himself. "Peter Pettigrew, now answer the question" he turned the conversation back to Remus. "Well, Peter Pettigrew, I think it's nearing a full moon. I'm sorry I snapped like that" he explained vaguely. "So what, you're like a werewolf?" Peter joked, but no one laughed.
"Wait, seriously?" he asked, growing nervous. "You scared, Pettigrew?" Sirius teased, but he stopped as soon as Remus gave him a slap to the arm. "Yeah, I'm a little spooked" Peter defended his honor. "Werewolves are mean and vile creatures! Who let you into this school!?"
"Oh, please" Remus replied, growing annoyed. "We're only creatures on full moons. The rest of the time, we're just normal people" he explained. "Yeah Peter, that was a little inconsiderate" James said, a bit uncomfortable with Peter's bias towards Remus. "It's not like he has any control over his lycanthropy"
"I hope you all enjoyed the dinner feast" A voice suddenly boomed from the front of the room. Everyone looked up to see Albus Dumbledore (the headmaster) talking. "However, it is now time that you all go to your dormitories and get some rest" he continued. "The Heads of Houses will lead all first-years to the dorms, and the rest of you may go on your own"
The Gryffindors got up and lined up by Professor McGonagall. "Once I get to the painting, I shall tell you the password and you shall go straight to your dormitories!" she instructed, getting a cheer of agreement from all the new Gryffindors before leading them to the painting. "Partio" she announced, and the painting suddenly opened to reveal a hole. "Goodnight, children" she said before leaving, and all the first years walked in, took a look around, and went to their dormitories.
"So, Remus, where are you gonna go on the full moon?" James asked as they all settled in their new beds, taking bunks that were all by each other. "I mean, it's not like you can transform in the castle" he added, getting a small nod from the werewolf. "Dumbledore conjured a special tree called the Whomping Willow" Remus explained. "Apparently he stocked it with everything I'll need during transformation days. It's essentially an underground shack I can skip class in during full moons"
"Lucky!" Peter interjected, a bit envious at the fact that Remus was allowed to skip class on those days. "Peter, he's not lucky" Sirius corrected. "He has to endure a painful transformation, and skipping classes just means he'll have more work the next day"
"I'm tired" James suddenly said with a yawn. "Me too" Sirius agreed. "Me three" Peter added. "Goodnight, guys" Remus said to the others, pulling out a book since he wasn't tired.
"Goodnight, Remus"
Chapter 5: Chapter 4
Chapter Text
The next day, James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, Lily, and Severus were some of the many first-years who found themselves sitting in potions class.
"Hello, class!" the teacher began with a warm smile that made the children feel welcomed. James had been a bit skeptical when he heard that the potions teacher was a Slytherin, but his friendly demeanor outweighed his reservations. "My name is Horace, however, you may all call me Mr. Slughorn"
Peter thought on this for a moment before raising his hand. "Yes, Peter?" the teacher called. "Why is your name Slughorn?" Peter asked with a mischievous smile that made James finally think that he and the blonde kid might be on the same wavelength after all. "Shouldn't you be called Snailbugle or Bugtrumpet?"
Following that, James and Sirius burst into laughter. Remus and Lily also seemed amused but they managed to keep it contained. "They're making fun of you, professor!" Severus said, exasperated at the disrespect that his classmates were showing to the man. "Mr. Snape is a snitch, professor!" James mocked.
"A snitch is an item used in Quidditch, James" Slughorn said flatly, walking up to where the black-haired boy sat. He suddenly seemed a lot less confident in his clownery. "Everyone knows that. Did I overestimate you?" he asked rhetorically, causing the boy to blush in embarrassment. "Because of the disrespect, I look forward to seeing James, Sirius, and Peter in detention"
Severus let out a loud laugh at this but was cut off by a sharp "You too, Severus"
"Anyways" Slughorn continuing, his tone returning to the warm and cheery one from the beginning of the class. "Today we will be going over how to make a Polyjuice potion" he explained, smiling as he saw Remus' hand shoot up. "Yes, Remus?" he asked kindly. "Sir, isn't that dangerous?"
"Indeed it is, Mr. Lupin" Slughorn replied with a smile, glad that someone brought up this talking point. "That is why I am only going to be showing it and not drinking it. The only time that one should ever drink Polyjuice is in a life or death situation, and you should never use it for a prank or to hurt someone"
"Hear that, Potter?" Lily asked, excited for the chance to finally scold the annoying kid who had been flirting with him all morning. "No misuse of the potion" she continued with a smug grin that made Severus have to hold back a chuckle. "So, don't try any funny business!"
"What's it to you what I'm doing, Lily?" James shot back before being suddenly elbowed in the ribs by Sirius. "I- I mean" James nervously backtracked, remembering that this was the girl he wanted and bullying her would do no good. "I am curious as to why you take interest in my whereabouts. Do you mind telling?"
"Yes, I do mind!"
Chapter 6: Chapter 5
Chapter Text
James, Remus, and Peter were all sitting at lunch together.
"So, Remus..." James started as he chewed on his food (a sight that made Remus recoil a bit). "When's the next full moon?" he asked, swallowing a bit of his mashed potatoes. Remus gave a disgusted look before replying with a small "Tomorrow"
"Well, could we visit during breaks?" the Potter asked, causing Remus to laugh. "I'd love to see you try!" he exclaimed, with a chuckle. Peter, who had been listening in on the conversation, gave a look of concern and slight confusion. "What do you mean by that?"
"The Whomping Willow attacks anyone who goes near it" Remus explained before carefully taking a bite of his chicken. "Wait, then how do you get in?" Sirius asked, very visibly confused. Remus swallowed and then growled in annoyance, growing tired of all this explanation bullshit. "Professor Dumbledore taught me a spell that stops the tree from moving for about 10 seconds" he explained.
"What spell?" James asked curiously. "Immobulus" Remus replied, seeing no point in hiding it from the boy. He doubted James had the skill to learn it anyways. "It's a second year spell" he added.
James grinned, and Peter could tell he was forming some sort of scheme. "James, w-we're first years!" the blonde said, a bit exasperated at the thought of James trying to get past a dangerous tree with magic beyond his level. "That doesn't stop us from learning it" Sirius cut in.
"SIRIUS, DON'T!" Remus shouted in objection, slamming his fist against the table. Peter flinched slightly at the sudden commotion, but neither James nor Sirius seemed particularly bothered. "Cool it, Moony" Sirius said, taking a bite of his chicken. "Moony!? That's what you're calling me now!?"
"Yup!" James said with a mischievous smile. "Now..." he turned to Sirius. "About that spell?"
"My brother Regulus is a third year" Sirius explained. "I can just steal his second year spell book"
"Brilliant!"
Chapter 7: Chapter 6
Notes:
Just a short little chapter
Chapter Text
Remus was abruptly awoken in the early hours of the morning by James yelling at him. Figures.
"REMUS! WAKE UP!" the Potter shouted with such intensity that an onlooker may assume there was a murderer in the room. "James, it's like..." Remus muttered, turning over and checking his clock. "6 AM" he said, reading off the time on the clock. Class wasn't for another 3 hours. "What do you want?"
"You need to go to the Whomping Willow!" James insisted. Remus didn't know the guy could be so frantic and nervous. It was a little odd to witness. He also knew that he didn't even need to go to the Whomping Willow until the evening, but James seemed very insistent that it needed to happen at the ass crack of dawn. "Fine" Remus caved. "I'll just get dressed, and-"
"You're not getting dressed!" James cut him off. Remus raised an eyebrow. "You'll ruin the outfit, mate" the Potter clarified. "Just go!"
Chapter 8: Chapter 7
Summary:
Wolfstar chapter!!
Chapter Text
Remus sat around in the shack, reading a book. There were a few notebooks, stray quills and ink bottles, flasks of water, and random snacks scattered about the room. It was honestly a bit of a mess, but that didn't matter. The place was meant to contain his lycanthropic form, not to be a five-star hotel. However, as he sat there, he began to feel watched. He glanced up and was startled to find Sirius just standing there.
"SIRIUS!" the werewolf yelped, earning a small chuckle from the other boy. "WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!?"
"I thought I'd come hang out with you so you weren't lonely, dear" Sirius replied with a mischievous smile that made Remus roll his eyes. "Don't get all romantic on me, Black" he muttered out in annoyance. Sirius mocked offense at this. "You don't like it? Okay..."
"I told you not to come here, Sirius" Remus told him, setting down the book he was reading. "Oh, come on now" Sirius replied, sitting on the armrest of Remus' chair, much to his dismay. "Don't get all pissy hours before you transform" he coaxed. "That will do you no good when your brain and body is all out of wack"
"Right. Sorry" Remus apologized with a sigh. "Just... Please leave"
Sirius gave an understanding nod, patted the boy on the shoulder, and left the room. Remus sat there, alone with his thoughts, and contemplated the boy briefly before picking up his book again and continuing to read.
Chapter 9: Chapter 8
Summary:
Peter and Sirius are dyslexic and you cannot convince me otherwise
Chapter Text
James, Sirius, and Peter all sat around at breakfast. It felt a little strange to be there without Remus or Lily (the latter of which had snuck over to the Slytherin table to hang out with Snape), but it was still nice.
"Where's Remus?" Peter asked as he ate his morning chicken. "He's still in the shack, right?" James asked, turning his attention to Sirius, who gave a small "Yes" in response. "Can we go visit him?" the Potter asked. "No"
"Why not?" Peter asked, visibly confused. "I went down there earlier and he kicked me out" Sirius explained, his voice almost sad as he spoke. "I... I think he's afraid for us to see him in such a vulnerable state"
"Oh, I nearly forgot!" James suddenly exclaimed, gaining the attention of the two other boys. "We have a lesson in Defense Against the Dark Arts that's all about lycanthropy" he explained. "And?" Sirius asked with a raised eyebrow, not seeing how this could be particularly helpful to their situation specifically.
"One of us should take notes!" James replied enthusiastically. Both Sirius and Peter seemed startled at this notion because they both weren't particularly fond of note-taking during class. "That way we can know how to wrangle Moony when the time comes!"
"N- Not it!" Peter stuttered out quickly. "Not it!" Sirius quickly echoed, and he had to bite back a smug chuckle as he saw James deflate a little bit. "Fine" the Potter caved. "I'll do it"
"That's the spirit"
Chapter 10: Chapter 9
Summary:
This story does have a few OCs (since we don't know every little detail about the Marauders era), and so this chapter you get to meet Professor Launchwood- Defense Against the Dark Arts professor and a proud Hufflepuff
Chapter Text
Professor Launchwood stood at the front of the class, eyeing her students carefully.
Severus and Lily were sitting together again. James was beginning to grow annoyed at the fact that Lily always seemed to sit next to that filthy Slytherin kid, but he pushed that away and instead focused on taking notes. Sirius and Peter were fast asleep.
"Alright, students. Review time" the teacher announced. "What is the proper term for the fear of werewolves?" she asked, and smiled as Severus, Lily, and James' hands all immediately shot up. She was glad to know that some kids were at least paying attention. However, she did not feel like letting the others off so easily. "How about you, Mr. Pettigrew?"
Not wanting the blonde to get in trouble, James covertly held his wand under the table and pointed it at Peter. "Expelliarmus" he muttered, and the shock of the disarming spell made the sleeping boy jolt awake with a startled "74!"
"Mr. Pettigrew, were you even paying attention!?" the teacher asked him sarcastically. Peter realized how screwed he was at that point and decided that lying would get him nowhere, so he mumbled out a small "N- No, ma'am" in response. "It's okay, Mr. Pettigrew" she assured him with a small smile. "I expect to see you in detention later this week. The time is flexible. Us Hufflepuffs aren't picky"
