Work Text:
1
Jisung loved his boyfriend. The only problem was that he, on the contrary, might not anymore. They had been together for four months now, and everything had been going well, or so he thought.
They had been on multiple dates, and he had even met Jisung’s parents. Well, it was out of the blue and not really planned, but it happened still, a morning after he stayed to sleep at Jisung’s place.
Ever since that, his boyfriend had been acting a bit weird and had been a bit more distant. Jisung thought he needed some time for himself, and he was more than okay with giving him that. Although, on the third day of getting ghosted, he needed some clarification. But Jisung being Jisung, he obviously did not send another message, afraid he’d annoy him.
He was now scrolling helplessly down his twitter timeline, till his thumb stopped its repetitive motion when he saw a particular tweet.
@rosequartzluver111, or whatever was the name of the account, had posted a tweet that was retweeted by Felix, one of Jisung’s friends. The tweet contained pretty text symbols, stars and a lovely, yet kinda cliché, quote, as well as a carrd link.
He didn’t even know why his fingers clicked on the link before his brain could even comprehend it, but when the nice pink and purple shades flashed on the screen, he couldn’t find it in himself to go back to his night mode version of Twitter. He started reading. The person behind the account was named Minho, he went by he/they, and he was 24, which was only two years older than him.
He kept reading, and now, he slightly understood why Felix retweeted it. Minho was a tarot reader, and presented himself as clairvoyant. He knew how much his friend was into that and believed in astrology, so it only made sense. What surprised him was reading the name of his city in the presentation part, meaning that they weren’t that far away. Not much else was written, but there was a link for possible clients to book appointments with him.
Curiosity wasn’t that bad, Jisung thought as clicked on it. He was now reading plenty of options, and he couldn’t really get what this was all about. Sure, he had heard about tarot cards and astrology, but what were the ‘crystals’ and ‘help for the future’ about?
Underneath the booking, another link displayed his clients’ opinion, which were all positives. Some even claimed that Minho had changed their lives, and Jisung thought it was a bit of a reach, but hey! whatever floats their boat.
He left the carrd to return to their account, just to look a bit more at what they were tweeting about. He didn’t really know how, but he spent at least thirty minutes looking at their tweets, some being daily affirmations, others being astrology related, and Jisung was dumbfounded whenever he found something that he could actually relate to based on his sun, moon, rising and even venus sign - which he all knew thanks to Felix.
He thought it was just a basic understanding, not really wanting to admit that it might be real, cause then, it would revolutionise a lot of things he believed in. But still, he was intrigued by the idea, and he still had no news from his boyfriend, which was probably why he clicked on Minho’s carrd again, and decided to book an appointment with him.
Soon after that, he received a text, not from the boy he had been waiting for, but from Minho, simply confirming the information Jisung had given him, and giving him the address where to meet.
And so, that’s how Jisung found himself knocking on a stranger’s door, not even a week later. The apartment was in a pretty nice neighbourhood, and Jisung wondered if Minho had another job apart from that one.
He didn’t have the time to reflect that much on that thought that a boy, who was just as pretty as the neighbourhood, opened the door, a smile on their lips.
“Hi, Jisung, right?” he asked right away, and Jisung nodded, a bit intimidated. “Can you show me the appointment text you received? So that I know it’s really you,” Minho said, and Jisung applied to avoid staring for too long. He was still dating someone, after all.
Once Minho was content with what he saw, they let him in, closing the door behind him as Jisung familiarised himself with the environment. The apartment was cosy, plants and candles almost everywhere. Minho then directed him to a table that was at the left, where crystals and cards could be seen, the smell of incense making Jisung feel at ease.
“So, what did you come here for?”
Minho sat in front of him, and Jisung couldn’t form a single sentence anymore. His brain shouted that he should just run out of here and that the whole thing was a terrible idea, but he spoke despite that.
“I’m not going to lie, but this is actually the first time I've come to see…” Eh. “a… witch?”
To that, Minho broke in a fit of laughter, but once he was met with Jisung’s lost stare, he tried to keep a composed face. “People have never called me that before, but I might start going by that name. I’m a tarot, or oracle reader, a clairvoyant as some would call it, but a witch is fine by me.”
For a second, Jisung was scared he had said something offensive, without even knowing, but Minho’s smile remaining on his lips was enough for him to not want to hide in a corner.
“Keep going,” they encouraged, and Jisung had to look down again so as not to fall for the stranger.
“I’m sorry if I use weird phrases? It’s just that I don’t really know what this is all about… But I’m willing to listen and understand!”
Minho eyed him with an indecipherable expression, the gaze making him shrink on himself a tiny bit more.
“It’s okay. Why did you book an appointment, then?”
“Well. My friend put your page in my timeline, and I kinda have some problems with…”
“Your partner?”
Jisung’s mouth fell open. “How do you..?”
“I don’t know. It’s just written all over you and your aura.”
Jisung was surprised, and not really believing all of that yet. But he was at the very least respectful enough to not spit on Minho’s work, especially if he was going to help him.
“So, hm, yeah. I have problems with my boyfriend. I don’t really know why though, I thought things were going nicely? We’ve been dating for four months, nearly five. But he just simply stopped texting me after meeting my parents,” Minho’s facial expression kinda gave away what they were thinking, but Jisung was quick to clarify, “it wasn’t on purpose! I’m not a weirdo!”
He didn’t know why he felt the need to justify himself to Minho, but he did nonetheless.
“When was his last text?” he said, as he removed a deck of cards from their pack.
“He texted me two days ago, but completely avoided the topic and asked about something irrelevant,” Jisung explained, fingers fidgeting between them as Minho started mixing and shuffling the cards together.
The moves were sloppy yet fast, enough for some cards to fall on the table. Minho kept going till two cards fell, and he gently dropped the pack of cards he still had in his hands aside. He then proceeded to take in hands another pack of cards and repeated the same action, two more cards falling. Then, he put aside this pack, picking up the four cards that were pushed aside till now, putting them in the same sense, identifying them before looking at Jisung.
“Well, first of all, I just want to say that if he refuses to have a heart-to-heart conversation with you, he’s not really worth it. I know you probably don’t want to hear that for now, but that’s just my personal opinion.”
Jisung thought it was rude, no matter how true it was. Maybe it’s because it was that it stinged more.
“Now, concerning the cards. I used two oracles, I only pulled four cards cause it’s the first time you’re coming, and you talked about one topic only. I wouldn’t want to read something you’re not asking for.”
Jisung nodded; it made sense. He wondered how many people complained to Minho for what he had told them, but it was short-lived, since Minho started turning the cards for him to see and placing them on the table.
“The first card which got out of the pack is changes. This could be either positive or negative, but I’ll go with the latter option, since the second card which fell was rupture,” Minho explained, showing the cards, which had the words written in bold letters at the top, the illustration picturing a woman looking at herself through a mirror, reflecting something different, and the other one, two persons not facing each other.
His vision started to be a bit blurry, as his eyes became watery. He blinked multiple times, as if to repress the upcoming tears. He looked up as he felt Minho’s fingers poke his, a comforting face greeting him, with no judgement behind it.
“We can stop if you need more time..?” Minho asked, and Jisung’s fingers squeezed theirs as he replied.
“No, it’s okay. I’m okay.”
Minho caressed his fingers for a minute more, just the time for Jisung to calm down and bottle his feelings down.
“It’s not even that deep.”
“Doesn’t mean it’s not valid,” Minho completed. Jisung’s lips pressed into a thin line, and Minho’s eyes asked him if it was good for him to continue. He simply nodded.
“With the second oracle, the first card to fall down was ‘You are worthy’. I do not know you personally, but I can feel that you usually put your partner’s needs above yours, or that you feel like you’re not good enough compared to them. The second one reads ‘Listen to your intuition’. You probably know it’s coming, but still, you don’t really know how to face it, am I right?”
Jisung sat there, astonished. How did Minho, and the freaking cards, know that?
Minho laughed as his hand left Jisung’s, the spot tingling him.
“I’ll take that as a yes.”
With that, Jisung nodded and started to explain more in depth their relationship; how they started dating, and almost every little detail Minho didn’t ask for but Jisung couldn’t keep to himself. Once he finished, he looked around — he couldn’t handle Minho’s piercing gaze on him —, and his eyes fell on the clock, which made him gasp. He had spent almost an hour and half here.
“Don’t worry, you were my last client today.”
“I’m sorry.”
Minho pouted. Jisung couldn’t comprehend how someone could be so intimidating, and yet, look so adorable. “No need to apologise, it’s alright,” he said as he began putting the cards back in the little cardboard pack.
Jisung nodded and took his phone out as Minho spoke again.
“Concerning what I told you today, don’t think about it too much. The cards were there for a reason, whether it was a warning or the real thing, only the universe will tell you. But you have to trust it,” they then took Jisung’s hands in theirs again, “It’s going to be alright in the end, even if right now, it can be a stressful period to you. Remember what the card said, you are worthy.”
Right. What the card said, as if it was impossible for Jisung to have his boyfriend to tell him that. He nodded again still, asking Minho his price, paying him before going out of the cozy apartment. Minho simply whispered a sweet ‘bye’, and Jisung knew it was his job, but ugh, if it could not tell him sad things he’d overthink at night.
He didn’t really believe in those types of things, and yet, meeting Minho changed his perception of it. It wasn’t as dramatic as movies and books made it look like.
But still, Jisung thought it was a bit ridiculous that cards warned him his boyfriend would break up with him.
Even more ridiculous when he found himself single, not even a week later after seeing Minho.
2
The second time Jisung went to see Minho, it’s more to prove himself something. Sure, the stupid cards had spot on his break-up, but it didn’t mean they could see everything.
Plus, it only felt right that after telling Minho his whole life story with his boyf- ex , he came to announce the news. So he booked an appointment again, and he was sitting in the chair in front of them a month later.
Minho had smiled at him, warmth emanating from him. Mixed with the smell of incense, they both made the younger feel at ease, again. There was just something about Minho, he thinks he heard them call it aura before. Whatever the heck that meant, Minho’s aura was amazing.
“Hey Jisung! So what are you coming for today?” he asked, putting in display the two packs of cards he had used last time, as well as others Jisung didn’t recognise, and a pendulum. He felt a bit stupid, coming here just to let Minho know he was right.
“I wanted to let you know that… I’m not with my boyfriend anymore.”
Minho’s mouth opened and closed just as quickly. He didn’t seem to know how to react.
“So basically, you were right,” Jisung said, accompanying the words with a giggle to make it less bitter. Minho tilted his head, a smirk forming on his lips.
“I guess the cards were.”
They stared at each other without talking for a minute, Jisung slightly getting lost in their eyes. And hey! He could do that, now that he was single. Well, could was a huge word; being single didn’t mean that his confidence leveled up enough for him to think he’d have a chance with Minho. Not that he wanted one. Why was he thinking of that?
Minho cracked a laugh too, watching Jisung being lost in thoughts.
“Do you have a question about something in particular?”
Jisung didn’t. He just felt the need to see Minho and tell him the news. It was kinda stupid now that he thought of it; he had only seen Minho once, and a dm would have been enough. He’d rather blame his visit on the future’s uncertainty, rather than Minho’s attractiveness. He couldn’t just say ‘I don’t know why I’m drawn to you and wanted to see you,’ otherwise the freak card would have been given to him immediately. Instead, he lied.
“Hm, well. I was wondering if there was something to be said about my studies?”
“Your studies?”
“Yes. I study engineering at university. I’ve been a bit stressed out lately, I guess.”
It wasn’t a complete lie. Sure, he was stressed out, but it was mostly because of his break-up with his ex. Although it did affect his marks, since he didn’t take as much time revising as he used to.
“I guess… I could ask the pendulum some questions about it if you want?”
Jisung had no idea what it was, but he agreed nonetheless. At this point, he just came to see Minho act cute more than to get an actual answer to some questions he didn’t even have to begin with. But no one needed to know that.
Minho set the pendulum, creating rules for it to follow. Once Minho thought it was okay and ready to receive their energy, he started talking about the topic more in depth with Jisung. They asked simple questions, nothing that needed an extraordinary answer.
The pendulum said Jisung was in the right pathway, and although he didn’t believe in it, he was grateful for the answer, ‘cause he couldn’t just find himself without that as a hobby in two days, just like he did with his ex. It also said that Jisung would be successful in that domain, and even mentioned a past bad experience with another field Jisung had tried going into before entering engineering. He was surprised, his face making Minho snicker.
One thing that the pendulum predicted however, was an upcoming test, which was nearly impossible, since they had just finished their midterms exams. Jisung simply listened to the news, not knowing where to stand yet. They asked a few more questions before time was up, and Jisung paid Minho.
At the end of the session, Minho accompanied Jisung to the door, thanking him for today, and Jisung did the same. It was not like he was the one who did something. He walked past the door that Minho kept open for him with his arm, as Minho spoke again.
“You’ll keep me updated?”
For a second, Jisung didn’t know what they were talking about. But then, he smiled timidly.
“Yeah, sure.”
Minho then nodded with a smile on his face too and closed the door. Jisung didn’t know in what way he meant exactly, but if he could take that as an excuse to come see Minho once more, then so be it.
Jisung started to trust the universe a bit more when his maths teacher announced a written test, two weeks after Jisung’s last visit. Thankfully, he had started revising his lesson after coming back home, just in case Minho’s magic was true.
It didn’t mean it was anyways, right? He could’ve simply been lucky.
But for the sake of seeing the pretty boy again, Jisung would pretend he had faith in it.
3
When Jisung entered the flat for the third time, he didn’t really know how to feel about Minho’s magic anymore. Sure, he had found some spot on things and they did end up happening, but did it mean something?
Jisung didn’t really know anymore as he took place on the chair where he usually sat. Minho was in the kitchen, preparing himself a drink before joining Jisung with a smile that made Jisung’s toes curl
They had seen each other three times only, and yet, Minho seemed to know Jisung’s whole life. He was a bit embarrassed at the thought, but at the same time, he got eager ; he, too, wished he’d know more of Minho, outside of his work.
Sure, he had texted him after the test to tell him that it happened, but that didn’t lead to a conversation about Minho. Jisung wondered if Minho had performed some kind of magic he didn’t know about to have him already whipped for him. He shook his head at the thought, because, even though it meant Minho would think of him like that too , the idea of everything being just an illusion scared him a bit too much.
Once the brown haired boy sat down, the session started. They talked a bit more about what they would do today, and what was the theme to tackle. Jisung didn’t really have anything to talk about in particular, so a general reading would do, according to Minho.
He took the cards out again, mixed them and let them down, just for some of them to be picked; and they mostly all said the same thing. Renouveau, Changes, Connection and Self-Care.
Minho guessed that something new was coming to his life, and that it would be sooner than they expected. They didn’t know what exactly, whether it was a person, news or a job opportunity, but what Minho was sure about was the love overflowing from it.
Jisung was baffled by the words, as he couldn’t see someone or something new coming into his life to sweep him off his feet. Well, there was Minho, but he wasn’t new, as it had been almost three months since the first time he had come into his life.
The rest of the session kept going naturally, although Minho seemed annoyed. Jisung wondered if it was because of something he did, or if he knew something more and refused to tell Jisung about it. Whatever the reason was, Minho did not talk about it, accepting his money as he closed the door behind Jisung.
That night, Jisung had replayed the events in his head countless times, trying to find out what went wrong. He fell asleep without figuring it out.
Eventually, three weeks later, he understood what Minho meant by new connections, changes and overflowing love when he saw an abandoned kitten by the roadside as he was driving back from visiting his parents in his hometown.
He ended up adopting it, taking it to the vet, and giving it a name; Isla. Once everything was settled down, he took a pic of Isla and him, and sent it to Minho, explaining what the new connection and changes were about. To that, Minho had melted, being friendlier than expected in their responses, letting finally Jisung get in his life, and getting to know them more, as well.
Life had been crazy ever since he met Minho, that was for sure, but he didn’t regret it in the slightest.
4
It wasn’t until the fourth time he came to his place that Jisung thought Minho was probably a real witch. What started off as a joke between them was now something proven. Or maybe Minho was just a really good magician, picking the cards beforehand and moving the pendulum himself.
Jisung came as soon as he received his grade, proudly showing off to Minho as the boy put their thumbs up with a smile.
“You did great, Jisungie,” he said, messing up with his wet hair as he let him in, protecting him from the pouring rain outside. “I’ll go find you a towel to dry you off.”
The fact Jisung just came unprompted on a Friday night, without taking an appointment, was new, but Minho didn’t seem to mind. They had been talking a bit more through texts ever since their last appointment, and it wasn’t uncommon anymore for Minho to be more affectionate towards the younger boy, much to his delight.
He couldn’t really deny that his life seemed to go for the better now that Minho had entered it. Sure, his ex had broken up with him, and he had an exam and a new cat, but in the end, those were the things that made Jisung grow up and feel better and more confident within himself.
Once Minho came back with a towel, Jisung only noticed he was in pajamas. They must have felt him staring as they started scratching his nape sheepishly, a blush appearing on his fair skin. The red colour was probably because of the LEDs that were now attached to the top of the walls, but Jisung liked to think he had an effect on Minho; as much as they did on him.
After drying himself, he sat next to Minho on the sofa, as they kept rambling about a client they had to deal with today.
“I don’t get it. I mean, I do, but I don't. Why would you come to me if you don’t believe in magic?”
Jisung’s throat was as dry as his body now. He kept his eyes on the TV, although the movie was paused.
“Well, maybe sometimes, you need to be proven wrong?” Jisung said after some time, still not looking at Minho, who was trying to gauge his reaction.
“Did I prove you wrong?”
Jisung knew Minho could see the blush creeping on his neck and ears.
“Maybe?” he turned to eye Minho, who had now raised a brow and was smirking.
“Oh yeah?” he said playfully, making Jisung groan.
“Okay but it’s not my fault! I literally know nothing about what you do, or what the term magic covers, and it’s only normal to get a bit dubious on the first meeting.”
Minho giggled softly, and Jisung had to refrain himself from falling deeper for them. “I get that. But you have never been disrespectful about it, and you tried understanding what I was doing at least!”
Jisung grew more confident these last few months, and maybe he was right to do so, since he was standing in Minho’s place right now, without having to pay for it. He held his hand while he put another one on his chest, before dramatically joking that ‘There was no one else like him.’
Minho had punched him in his shoulder gently as he groaned, making the two of them laugh at his stupidity. But then, as a silence settled, Minho whispered words Jisung would probably never forget, “You are like no others.”
They kept talking about what happened ever since the last time they saw each other, till Jisung had to leave, the sky turning dark.
As always, Minho accompanied him to the door, holding it for him. Jisung thanked him for the night, and Minho made him promise to send more pictures of Isla, as they were missing their own cats, who stayed with their parents while they were studying here.
Jisung nodded and was ready to leave, but Minho’s hand caught his wrist, making him shiver at the touch.
“Send a message once you’re home. Be careful not to slip on the stairs, I know they get slippery with rain.”
“No problem! I’m a big guy, I’ll make it out alive,” he assured.
And well, maybe Minho was truly a witch, Jisung thought as he felt his pants get dampened by the rain, since he did fall down the stairs, just like they had predicted.
Once he arrived at his place, he texted Minho, and quickly opened a few more tabs on his laptop; all of them concerning magic and witchcraft. He wanted to know more about Minho’s interest, wanted to know what Minho was doing exactly, wanted to somehow impress him the next time he’d see him.
He wanted to know more about Minho, wanted to know if it was okay for him to try something, to ask him out for a date.
He looked over to his cat, who seemed unbothered by the tricks Minho had been playing on his mind.
5
The fifth time Jisung came to see Minho is the time he gathered enough courage to finally ask him out. Or so he thought.
But life had a fun way of messing with Jisung, as when he knocked on his door, Minho was already with someone. His heartbeat raced for a second as he looked at the other person, but then, when his eyes met Minho’s, he felt at peace. Jisung started to hate how whipped he was for the boy.
“Hey Ji! I’m sorry, I’m with a client right now. You’re okay?”
Jisung nodded. “Yeah. Just needed a reading, I guess.”
They both were surprised at his spontaneous request, but Minho never refused him. Instead, he let him in, apologising to his client and explaining that he’ll be back soon as he pushed Jisung through the living room, all the way to a room he had never been to before.
Minho opened the door, quickly looking over if there was anything weird on display, and then let Jisung enter the room. Their bedroom. Jisung saw Minho blushing as he told him to make himself at home, just the time that he finished his session with his client, and then walked back in the living room, leaving Jisung alone.
Jisung took his phone out of his pocket, his stress only being postponed. He tried to focus on something else, and fifteen minutes later, he heard Minho accompany the client to the front door, thanking them for today and saying goodbye. Only a minute later, Minho opened his bedroom door, finding Jisung lying there comfortably, the vision making him laugh.
“Well, you said to make myself feel at home.”
Minho shook his head, and led Jisung to the living room, although he already knew what to do.
“So why did you come here today?” Minho said playfully.
To ask you out , would be a bit too straightforward, he figured.
“For a simple reading! I have a feeling that something is coming for me, and I need to know,” he said, not voicing that said thing might be a change in their relationship.
So Minho read the cards, and considering his face, things weren’t as good as he expected them to be. They even took out a die with twelve facets, each one picturing an astrological sign. He rolled it, and it landed on Capricorn. Jisung had no idea what the fuck was going on, but it seemed like a big deal.
“Was your ex a cap?”
Jisung didn’t know. He didn’t care before meeting Minho. “He was born on the seventh of January?”
Minho’s mouth pressed in a line. “Did you two talk lately?”
Jisung’s eye widened. “Not at all. We haven’t talked since… five or six months? Ever since the breakup, actually.”
‘Ever since I met you,’ are the words he refrains himself from saying.
“Well, the cards I pulled are Reconnection, Past and Love. So yeah, maybe that’s what you were sensing…” Jisung didn’t really know how to tell him that the cards were wrong, and that he was, too. What Jisung was hoping for was a cute dinner with Minho where he’d finally tell them how he had been feeling about them, but the universe clearly wasn’t on his side.
“Have you been manifesting him?” Minho asked again, after the room stayed silent at the prediction.
“What’s manifesting?”
Jisung had learnt about it when he had done research for Minho, but saying that he knew what it was without explaining how would make him look suspicious.
“Nevermind,” Minho said as he shook his head. “Well, he might not have texted yet, but expect something from him, I guess?”
He sounded dejected, and Jisung tried taking his hands in his, just like he had done for him on their first meeting. He opened his mouth to try to calm the situation down, but at the same time, his phone rang, screen lighting up, making the two boys look at it.
Jisung’s mouth stayed open, but this time for another reason, as his ex just texted him that they needed to talk. He looked at Minho quickly, who probably had seen the text as well, as if he needed to justify himself to them.
“I promise I didn’t talk to him,” Jisung tried, and Minho nodded.
“Well, the cards are always right, aren’t they?” Minho tried, but Jisung could see they were hurt. He didn’t want to get ahead of himself and think that Minho was jealous, but the thought didn’t leave his mind as he walked back to the door.
He tried paying Minho at least, but the elder refused, a sad smile on his face.
The universe, the cards’, crystal’s and pendulum’s magic were true; Jisung was sure of it. But another thing he was sure of was that they hated his guts.
Later in the night, he responded to his ex, kindly declining his offer of talking. He had moved on, and he didn’t need to try to fix whatever it was that they had. He was better off without him, better having a crush on Minho. He just hoped that the feelings were reciprocated.
+1
It was Minho’s turn to be surprised when Jisung visited again, the next day. He didn’t sleep well because of their last meeting, and he didn’t feel like giving his energy today.
“Hey Ji,” he looked over himself, still in pajamas. He mentally punched himself for making more of a fool of himself in front of him. “I’m sorry. I didn’t expect anyone’s visit.”
Jisung stayed still, looking at Minho with so many emotions that Minho couldn’t pick one to try and decipher.
“It’s okay, I just… I needed to talk to you. ‘Needed your help with something.”
Minho was even more astonished at the words. Sure, over time, they had become close enough for Jisung to come to his place unannounced, but still, Minho didn’t get it. They pushed themself aside so that Jisung could get in, the younger boy immediately sat down at the table.
Minho sighed, unsure if he could go through what he had gone through yesterday.
“You came for another reading?”
“I don’t know if it’s a reading. I just need your witchcraft to tell me if… if it’s going to happen.”
The words made their heart sink down their throat, and they tried not to let it show too much. “If what’s gonna happen?”
Jisung groaned, “I don’t want you to know.”
Minho took the pendulum out, unsure of what to ask for either. “Can I at least have a field?”
“Love,” Jisung breathed, making Minho shiver.
He tried asking the pendulum if something was going to happen with Jisung’s ex in mind, but the pendulum kept answering no. Although he was happy to see that, Jisung stayed dubious, just like he used to be the first time he had come here.
“Have you asked for me to be in a relationship with someone?” Jisung asked, and Minho nodded. “With whom?”
The words stayed in the air, Minho having a hard time voicing the anwer out.
“Your ex. I’m sorry Jisung, but I can’t see anything happen between you two.”
Jisung’s doe eyes got bigger, but still he didn’t add anything more. Minho wished he was a mind reader at that instant, but unfortunately, he wasn’t that gifted.
“It’s okay, I already know why,” Jisung’s words were a mystery to Minho. He didn’t know what to think of it, but thankfully Jisung spoke again.
“But have you tried…” Jisung’s soft voice made him tilt his head, attentively looking at the lovely boy in front of him. “ Can you try asking… If it would work with someone else?”
His heart missed a beat. Everything Jisung made Minho feel, it’s dangerous, more than any magic he had been dealing with.
“Haven’t you… talked to your ex?”
“Talked about what? I’ve moved on, and that’s what I told him last night.”
The words soothed Minho’s pain away, one that he couldn’t tell why it was there in the first place.
“Anyways, I don’t think I need the pendulum anymore,” he said, wrapping Minho’s hand which was holding it, pushing it down to the table gently. “I have a question to ask you, now.”
Minho’s eyes were fixed on Jisung, and if his palm got sweaty, he hoped Jisung didn’t pay no mind.
“Yeah?” they simply said, gulping down their non-existent saliva, leaving his mouth dry. “I’m scared of what you’ll ask, but go on.”
Jisung tilted his head, a shy smile finding its way on his face. “Can’t you see what I’m about to ask? You know, with your magic?”
At that, Minho relaxed a little. “I’m not a witch, Ji. I can’t guess what people are going to say. Plus, I wouldn’t want to go behind your back and see something you wouldn’t want me to.”
Jisung’s fingers started caressing Minho’s hand, listening to him carefully.
“Okay, but even without the magic... Can’t you see what I’m trying to say?”
Minho had an idea, but it might be wishful thinking. He needed the words spelled out in front of him before he could finally understand what was happening.
"What I'm trying to say is… Can we see each other? Out of those appointments?"
“We already do that,” Minho replied, making Jisung groan.
“Well, I want more of that. Can we have it?”
Minho didn’t believe what Jisung was saying, just like Jisung did the first times they met. Eventually, Minho finally understood what he meant, hands still on theirs. He smiled as he nodded, finally relaxing into the touch. Minho’s smile was mirrored on Jisung’s face, visibly excited that his message finally came across.
“Good. Cause I’ve been dying to know more of you.”
The words made Minho’s head spin, made him feel dizzy, almost euphoric.
Their first date happened the same night, where they simply stayed home and talked for hours. Jisung finally got to catch up on everything he had been missing from Minho's life. After a few weeks, they made it official, both feeling like this relationship was meant to be.
When the couple told their friends about their meeting and getting together, Minho had to swear he didn’t cast a spell on Jisung. He didn't need magic to get Jisung, not even a rose quartz helped them get where they were today; he promises.
