Work Text:
“Will you hurry up Bax? You been working at that machine for hours.”
“It’s only been half an hour, please have some semblance of patience, will you?”
The guys were all located back in Baxter’s lab waiting for Baxter to reset up the ultrasound. Alastor rolled his eyes at his sweetheart spider’s childness whining, though it was difficult to put the blame on him for being so anxious. After all, this will be both his and Angel’s first look into the ultrasound results. It has been two months since his darling Husker has been discovered he is will child and only now have both he and Angel found the time to looking thru the ultrasound results. Up until now, Alastor has been distraught that only his dear Husker had the time to preform said test. He was ashamed of himself for leaving all the infant testing to the expecting male mother; he was the father, as well as Angel, but he didn’t have such a schedule constraint as his spider lover.
He was upset with himself for the longest time, but that no longer matter!
Alastor sat beside Husker who was laying down upon the table presented, Angel was walking around nervously as Baxter finished setting back up the machine.
He started tapping his fingers to the table, growing impatience himself. He had to wonder how his child was faring, yet it was also the right time to finally discover the possible gender of the child, maybe. He was a first-time father after all.
Still, he couldn’t wait to see the results all the same.

Soon enough, the screen came into the few for a moment to complete the process before Baxter devolved the picture. Alastor’s idea, the idea of watching thru a screen of any kind unnerves him.
“And here we are,” Baxter spoke out as the picture was now in his hands, scaled to the size of printer paper so they could all see it clearly. Angel Dust snatched it out of Baxter’s hands, to the annoyance of said scientist.
“Thank you!” Husk rolls his eyes while Alastor stands up.
“Lovely, let's see what we have.”
Alastor noticed in an instant when Angel’s face dropped its smile. The demon spider did nothing as he just gripped the photo, acting as though he saw an unpleasant sight.
This action alone terrified Alastor to his core.
“Darling?” He causational walks over to him. “Is something the matter?”
That’s when Angel slowly hands over the photo, and Alastor feels his legs turn to grape jelly.
The photo showed not just one baby present in the womb, not by a long shot.
“Ohl-Oh,” He tries to steady himself, but he just can believe what he’s seeing with his own eyes. He even fixes his monocle--that’s more for a decorative purpose nowadays—Just to see if what he is witnessing is clearly there on the page.
Yet, there’s no mistaking it. He and Angel started gripping both edges. He heard the other gulp in shock.
“How many are yuh seein'?” He mumbles under his breath to which only Alastor hears.
He mumbles along with him. “I can’t tell, five, six?”
“I don’t think those are just six kids, Alle.”
“What do you mean?”
“Look a little closer. See that? Those are clusters. Al, I think they’re eggs, tiny little eggs all bonded up together.” Alastor heart climbs to his throat. Dear God in heaven.
“You guys alright?” His ears caught the sounds of his still native Husk resting upon the mattress. He can’t seem to find the right muscles to move his head, nor work his mouth. Oh, dear God, how was he going to explain this to him. How were either of them going to tell him?
He swallows down his throat and looks into Angel’s pink heterochromia eyes to look for some snark or brave words to work in some spark of courage, but he too was left speechless. Neither of them had seen this coming, but how was it possible in the first place?
“Dese can't be de right results, right doc?” Angel tries to joke, but he’s shaking to his long-booted legs. Baxter only blinks and walks over, exams the picture for a moment.
“What’s the hold up? Come on already! Okay? I wanna see my baby!”
“Aspetta un minuto Kitty!” No else tries to point out that, in his fit of panic, Angel just spoke out in Italian. All Husker does is raise an eyebrow at this. Alastor turns to look at him and, without saying another word on the matter, takes the photo and hands it over to Husker.
This sweet grumpy cat looks over the photo, scanning it most likely as his eyes are darting throughout. By the end, he sets the paper down, his face is completely neutral of emotion.
“Oh, okay.” He then hands the paper over to Baxter. Alastor and Angel watch as the other two don’t react what so ever to the dire subject matter at hand.
Angel suck in his breath. “Caro Dio, sono in negazione.”
“English Dear.” Alastor corrected him.
“They’re in denial. They got to be, neither of them is reacting.”
“Indeed,” Alastor simply agreed with him, not sure of what to make of it. However, he realizes how it has to be himself that must make the first motion of continued communication.
“So!” He feels sweat build upon his forehead. “I suppose that it’s going to be more than one!” He hears the laughter of his shadow minions in the background and wishes to throttle them.
Baxter simply relies, “It would appear so, and to think, there could even more in the back somewhere hiding.” Alastor and Angel are both ready to drop, but Baxter goes on. “It’s quite difficult to tell with pregnancy without unpredictable they are, wouldn’t you say Husk?”
“I suppose.”
“Then again, cats are widely known to have large litters up to ten or even twelve kittens. Although, I suppose the real culprit here would be the fact that one of the fathers is a spider; those animals are known to have hundreds, if not, thousands of eggs. I can’t say the same for Deers however, they are best for smaller births, but they are rather mess ones all the same. You are lucky it’s only around seventy or so.”
“Yeah, good think I don’t know how many rooms Alastor’s house has, but I guess the kids will have to share, no harm no foul, am I right?”
“No, you would just have to worry about all those mouths to feed and change the diapers, schools are going to be a completely different ball park when their older. Not to meant that siblings are known to fight among themselves.”
“I wouldn’t know much about siblings, but I have a ton of cousins that used to butt in my head all the time. Though, they are going to have both Italian and French genes.”
“Oh, may the seven circles help you three!” Husk and Baxter shared a causal laugh.
Meanwhile, neither of them noticed how Alastor and Angel have collapsed onto themselves, with sheer terror written all over their faces; Alastor’s eternal smile is ready to drop.
That’s when Husk gives Baxter a smirk. “Ok Bax, show them the real picture now.”
Both the Radio Demon and Hell’s Porn Star stand up in surprise; they look at Baxter, then Husk, then at the picture that’s being torn up causally by Baxter. Then he pulls out a real photo and waves it around.
Alastor is ready to tear him apart when Husk cuts in. “Relax will ya? We had this prank planned out for days. The looks on your guys’ faces!” Both he and Baxter laughed outloud once more. It took another minute before Angel joined in, then Alastor with a sound of recorded radio cheers from all around.
“Ho Ho, you two certainly had us going.”
“Yeah Huskie, you and Bax did a good one! Hey, I know you just tared up the one, but can you reprint a copy for me? I wanna prank my sis and the girls upstairs.”
“Later Angie, I wanna see the real ultrosound now.”
Alastor looked surpised, “Really, I thought you would’ve already had a peak.”
“Nay,” Husk smirked. “I still wanna see the baby with you guys first.”
“AWW!” Angel cood before kissing Husk head.
“Well, isn’t that just sweet,” Baxter remarked. “Still hope you all are prepared to see the real deal though.”
“Ha Ha, you don’t have to prank us anymore Bax” Angel smirked.
“Really Baxter, let's not over blow the matter and hand over the photo” Alastor stated, with his hand stretched out. Baxter, with a strange smile on his face, did hand over the photo.
And all three soon to be parent’s eyebrows shot up. They all started gobsmacked at a causally smiling Baxter. “I wasn’t lying before about your different earth counterparts giving multiple births. I’m surprised you didn’t expect this; you should be surprised that it wasn’t hundreds or thousands of tiny deer-spider-kitten hybrid babies.”
“Triplets are a breeze in comparison”
