Holiday Spirit

Summary:

Damian is trying to get into the holiday spirit like his oldest brother does every year. Gifts aren't a real issue for most of the family, but he wants to do something special for Dick, and he goes to the one person he knows that can help. Tim Drake.

Notes:

Another little holiday drabble. I wrote it on my phone and did not edit again, so I apologize. Hope you enjoy. Hope to get the second part up soon.

Work Text:

Damian Wayne could be described as a lot of things, particularly by the members of his family, classmates and teachers. He often showed aggressive behavior toward others as a defense mechanism, and not many realized that. Since coming to Gotham, he had to deal with many things himself. Not being an only child, amongst them. It took time for him to get used to the idea, and even longer to officially accept the others as siblings, with one exception. Richard Grayson.

It was no surprise to the others that he had grown close to the man who had made him Robin to his Batman while Bruce was lost in time. Dick had given him the trust that nobody else would. He was violent and angry, and yes he did a few things he regretted now, though he would never admit it. The first Robin had taught Damian a lot about family. He learned that family didn't have to be blood like he had grown to believe in his mother and grandfather's teachings. Damian also learned that mistakes were okay and something he could learn from. Apologies made things a little better, but didn't always fix things.

Which was what was making Damian's dilemma so difficult.

The eleven year old stood outside Tim Drakes door, waiting for the right moment to knock, knowing that the teen was probably still sleeping, because he had an awful habit of not doing that often. As he was about to knock he heard footsteps approaching and then stop. "What are you doing?" Tim questioned from halfway down the hall, confusion evident in his voice.

"I need to speak to you in private" Damian stated hautely. "It concerns Richard and this stupid holiday he is acting like a child over."

"You don't know what to get Dick for Christmas do you?" Tim laughed as he walked to his door. "Fine, come in, do not touch anything." He said after hearing the younger boy huff in frustration. "I appreciate you didn't just walk in."

"I have no reason to be in here. You are no threat, and I know...this room is a disaster, does Pennyworth know you keep your sleeping quarters like this? It's a disgrace!"

"You can leave if you want." Tim rolled his eyes as he sat on his bed. Damian moved to the computer chair and sat down. "So. About…"

"I already have an idea. Father said you used to take photos. I need some." Damian interrupted.

"Okay well that doesn't narrow anything down. Do you want me to take new ones?"

"No. Do you by chance have any from when you saw the Flying Graysons? I've heard the stories…." Damian said as a smile crossed Tim's face.

"I do. I didn't take them, but I did keep them. I was really young when I met them." Tim said standing up and heading to the closet, pulling out a photo album. "It's one of the few things that I actually enjoyed going to with my mom and dad. " He paused. "What are you planning to do?"

"Richard lost everything when his apartment was destroyed. And then Haley's circus. I have.already recreated the poster, however I also wanted to do a portrait for him. There." Damian pointed to a photo of John and Mary with their son. "I think that one will do."

"I think he will love it." Tim told him. "You know. I have a few other photos that would mean a lot to him." Tim said and went back to the closet to pull out a shoe box. "I know you are aware of how much Dick loves the family and always tries to spend time with us. These are photos from patrols. This was the first time him and Jason patriled together, I got this one of him and Bruce, Alfred actually took this one of Dick and I in the cave, and then of course you and him."

Damian suddenly perked up as a new idea entered his mind. "May I borrow these photographs?" He asked, and Tim nodded, handing them to his younger brother and watched him head straight for the door." You weren't completely useless, thank you." Damian said as he paused at the door and turned to his brother.

"Thanks...I think?" Tim said with humor laced in his voice. "I can't wait to see what you end up doing. No matter what, Dick will love it."
