Work Text:
Derek could only run so fast but he might have been too late. Theo had already done what he wanted to do and Scott was lying against the library staircase, limp and unconscious as he was bleedy out.
Derek runs closer to Scott, gently dragging him from the staircase and onto the library floor.
“Come on, Scott, wake up,” Derek said, trying to shake Scott awake.
Scott doesn’t respond. Derek tried to listen for a heartbeat but there was none. He grows frantic, mind panicking as he thought that Scott was dead.
He holds Scott’s forearm, trying to pull pain. It doesn’t work.
“Wake up, you can’t die,” Derek pleaded, “you’re far too young to die.”
“CPR,” Mason barely said, he was a few feet away, possibly just waking up after Theo had knocked him out, “do CPR.”
Derek obeys, quickly getting in position to do chest compressions. Counting, getting harder with each try providing futile attempts as Scott wasn’t responding.
Then it happens, Scott gasps for breath. Derek stops, scared.
“Der-” Scott said, weak and gasping for breath after.
“I’m here, it’s okay,” Derek said, moving to hold Scott.
“Please, don’t- don’t leave.”
“I’m right here, I’m right here,” he said, repeating himself.
He tries to pull pain again, this time it happens. Scott lets him pull pain, he eases, exhaling long and in a sigh.
Melissa runs in a few minutes later. She had run all the way from the hospital after Liam appeared in the hospital for Hayden.
