How Pro Gamer Yoo Joonghyuk's Twitter Alt Became a Thirst Account

Summary:

Yoo Joonghyuk stares in shock as what looks to be a mage’s skill damages the squid in huge amounts. A skill that summoned a big book over the giant squid appears and soon, lightning starts surrounding the squid in what looked to be an AoE attack.

A player flickered into existence. Their character was dressed in what seemed to be a white coat similar to Yoo Joonghyuk’s black one but the rest was a blur due to how fast the character moved and because their appearance was being obscured by the barrage of skills they used.

Yoo Joonghyuk gets sponsored to play a game. He plays and on an unfortunate early encounter with a boss, somebody swoops in and saves him from death.

Yoo Joonghyuk falls. And he falls hard.

Notes:

read a fic about simp yjh. badly needed to write it so I did.

also ! some of the thirst tweets get SUPER SUPER explicit, just a small warning smile

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

People think that playing games for a living is a dream come true. Normally, Yoo Joonghyuk would agree with this assumption. It pays good money, it’s not hard to do and it’s enjoyable.

Though a certain woman named Han Sooyoung makes him second guess all his life choices until now. His manager pulling him aside to tell him about an offered sponsorship isn’t unusual. The offered payment may have been higher than normal and had been too good of a deal to turn down. He should have been more skeptical of the offer. The sponsor wanting to personally meet up with him was unusual but for that sum of money, he was willing to meet them.

His first impression of the head developer of the game Ways of Survival is that she’s irritating . They meet at a homey cafe that he has never heard of. He finds a woman with a beauty mark underneath her left eye sucking on a lollipop seated at one of the tables in the corner of the cafe. A cup of coffee sits on the table. She looks up and enthusiastically waves a hand at him. He heads over to the table and seats himself across from her.

“Hello, Supreme King Yoo Joonghyuk,” she says as soon as he settles into the chair, “My name is Han Sooyoung. You can refer to me as ‘Your Majesty.’”

“No.”

“Tsk. You’re no fun.” Han Sooyoung bites the candy she’s sucking on. It makes a cracking sound. “What kind of name is Supreme King anyway? What are you, a middle schooler?”

Yoo Joonghyuk glares at her. Supreme King wasn’t a title he came up with himself. One of his viewers started calling him that and it stuck. He was so widely known by the name, he had to start using it as his official brand.

“Get to the point.”

Han Sooyoung glares back at him.

“Aren’t you going to order anything first?” She proceeds to take a sip from her coffee.

“I don’t eat anything made by other people.”

“Paranoid bastard. I wanted to meet with you to further discuss the sponsorship conditions,” she says, “I would have sent someone else to do this but I’ve been working on this game for years so I have to make sure it’s handled right. Understood? This meeting isn’t because of your status in the gaming industry so don’t let your head get bigger than it already is.”

Yoo Joonghyuk resists the urge to physically harm the woman in front of him. He grunts in response.

“Good. The first condition for this sponsorship is for you to only play Ways of Survival while streaming. This means no offline grinding. As a sub condition, you have to engage with the game’s lore as well.”

He nods his head in agreement. The conditions were a bit annoying but it wasn’t anything he couldn’t deal with. It made sense from an advertising point of view.

“The second condition is for you to take note of any glitches you encounter during the game. I know you’ve had experience as a beta tester so this shouldn’t be too hard for you.”

He nods his head again. So far, none of the conditions were dealbreakers.

“That’s all, really.”

The briefness of the conditions almost makes him jolt from shock but he’s careful to maintain his blank facade. Instead, he glares harder at the woman across him.

“How boring is your game for you to pay me so much with barely any restrictions?”

“Hey! It isn’t boring.” Han Sooyoung sighs. “The account you’ll be playing with is registered on one of the hard mode beta servers. Only a handful of our beta testers can play it without too much trouble. It hasn’t been publicly released yet. The reason why the pay is so high is that the game will be time-consuming.”

“My account has been made already?”

He didn’t really care much about the character’s appearance or what server he was in as long as it was a fast one but he wanted to at least be able to look through the character classes he can choose from.

“In a sense, yeah. Don’t worry, only the name, appearance and server have been set. You can still choose the class you want.”

He nods in response.

A minute passes in silence and Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung have been angrily holding each other’s gaze.

Yoo Joonghyuk is the one who ends it, clearing his throat.

“Is that all you had to say?” he asks, still glaring at Han Sooyoung.

“Yeah, you bastard.” Han Sooyoung throws a business card at him and he catches it with his quick reflexes. “Contact me if you have any questions.”

Han Sooyoung stands up first but Yoo Joonghyuk walks out of the cafe before her. Han Sooyoung opens her mouth, presumably to yell at him but he was already outside of the cafe. He fights the childish urge to stick a tongue out at the woman.

That’s how Yoo Joonghyuk finds himself an hour into playing the game Ways of Survival.

He expected the game to be boring but surprisingly, it was easy to immerse himself in the game. Han Sooyoung wasn’t lying when she said it was difficult. His fingers move quickly to activate his character’s skill and to trigger a combo against the waves of giant rats he was currently against.

Being a Warrior meant his character was a heavy hitter, albeit the skills he could use were limited due to his lower mana. His current stats were pretty high for a beginner with his equipment mostly boosting his mana and speed due to the limitations of his class.

It had been easy enough to master maneuvering his character in-game and he pushed his newly found mastery to its limit to survive the incoming rats.

It was all for naught however as he found himself staring at the Game Over screen.

“It’s fine, chat,” he says, gritting his teeth.

He clicks on the Revive button and his jaw almost drops at the level of his character. His character’s levels had been on 6 prior to his death. It was now back at Level 1.

He glares at the screen as if somehow he can pressure the game to give back the EXP he lost upon death. The game, however, does not give back his missing EXP.

He sighs deeply, frustrated.

“It’s fine.”

In the end, it really did turn out fine.

He didn’t lose any of the items he grinded for and it turns out, dying had given him an EXP boost. Granted, the boost was next to negligible but it was better than nothing. He was careful not to engage in fights with monsters with higher levels than him this time around.

He was silent while he regrinded his levels, watching as his character brutally converted the monsters’ lives into EXP. He’s deeply concentrated while he’s once again fighting the giant rats that had killed him. It’s easier this time, with his character at Level 8 instead of being Level 6.

His character levels up to 9 after killing all of the rats and a chest appears. He’s quick to loot it, stopping when a dungeon key comes out.

“A dungeon key? It must be for a hidden dungeon.”

It’s the obvious conclusion. After all, all of the previous dungeon’s keys were obtained after completing a main scenario and the cave the rats had been in wasn’t a dungeon and was more of an infested area that needed to be cleared for a sub-scenario’s completion.

He puts the key into his inventory and inspects the loot from the chest. He gets a new sword and a few accessories he equips and gets out of the cave to hopefully find the hidden dungeon.

He finds the entrance to the hidden dungeon faster than he thought he would.

His almost full EXP bar mocks him and being at the cusp of Level 10 but not Level 10 is annoying. He curses Han Sooyoung internally.

He’d been staring at the entrance of the hidden dungeon, contemplating heading in or not, before a donation comes up on his screen.

FalseDirector donated 150,000 ₩!
go in u fucking coward

A wave of irritation hits him and it possesses his body to actually enter the dungeon.

He remembers exactly why he listens to the logical side of his brain more when he sees what exactly was in the dungeon.

In front of Yoo Joonghyuk is a gigantic squid boss simply named Squid. The health bar that appeared at the top of his screen indicated that it was at Level 25.

Yoo Joonghyuk wanted to punch his monitor just so he can escape from his cruel fate of death and track down Han Sooyoung and whoever FalseDirector was so he can punch them in the face. Repeatedly.

That doesn’t mean he wasn’t at least gonna try damaging the squid. He dodges the incoming tentacles and makes tiny dents at its health, its health bar still visually full. A tentacle that moved too fast for his character to dodge at his level hit him and he’s left with a staggering 3 HP.

Yoo Joonghyuk considers praying before realizing that even if there was a god, it wouldn’t help save him from death by tentacles. He considers closing his eyes so he doesn’t have to witness the three hours of grinding disappear before his very eyes.

Until the squid starts getting pushed back. Yoo Joonghyuk stares in shock as what looks to be a mage’s skill damages the squid in huge amounts. A skill that summoned a big book over the giant squid appears and soon, lightning starts surrounding the squid in what looked to be an AoE attack.

He considers filing a bug report before a player flickers into existence, mid-jump - or maybe midflight - with big black wings spread wide. Their character was dressed in what seemed to be a white coat similar to Yoo Joonghyuk’s black one but the rest was a blur due to how fast the character moved and because their appearance was being obscured by the barrage of skills they used. The wings seemed to let the player fly. Perhaps it just added a jump boost.

But that didn’t matter right now because all Yoo Joonghyuk could think of was the player beating up the squid was fucking hot.

He’s conscious of the warmth his face felt but he really couldn’t give a shit right now with the battle he was witnessing.

JudgeOfFire: OMGGG HE’S BLUSHINGGG

SPlotter: Why’s that guy kinda…

swk4: :GayPride::GayPride::GayPride:

H2OAdmiral: MASTER WHY R U JUST STARING

DeluDevi: hes obvs in shock at how that guy stole his prey duh

SupremeSimp: :BisexualPride::BisexualPride::BisexualPride:

Salvation. Level 20. Definitely a mage class.

Level 20. Against a Level 25 Dungeon Boss. And WINNING.

Yoo Joonghyuk’s grip on his mouse tightens and it takes conscious effort to keep his jaw from dropping.

Salvation makes quick work of the squid and when the HP bar hit 0, Yoo Joonghyuk feels something in him awaken. From the corner of his eye, he sees chat continue to go wild but most of his attention has been focused on the player now heading toward him.

Salvation had an intricate veil covering his character’s face and upon closer look, his build was clearly one with a male’s build.

“Holy shit, chat,” he whispers, sounding out of breath.

BlackFlame: IS HE REALLY SIMPING RN :KEKW::KEKW:

PuniUnni: STOP BEING GAY ON MAIN L

Yoo Joonghyuk’s character had reached Level 12 from his puny contributions to the fight and he’ll have to complain about the share ratio of EXP from a co-op fight later but the now Level 21 Salvation has sent a message request and he’d kill himself sooner than not accept it.

Salvation - Online

heyyy

Hello.

sorry 4 butting in
i was following u since u beat the rat lair
it was supposed to be beaten by a group
but u cleared it alone so i ended up following u
that sounds rlly creepy tbh

It’s fine.
Thanks for saving me.

np np
the squid was added to be a troll anw
the key drop rate was rlly low but having
it in ur inventory limits ur lvl to 9
the dungeon entrance only appear when
ur almost lvl 10 so the squid can kill u
and you’d have to grind ur lvls back up

Yoo Joonghyuk was going to kill Han Sooyoung for adding that mechanic.

btw do u want this sword the squid dropped lol

You can sell it.

nah that’d be a waste
it’s an s class and i can’t use it cuz im a mage
just take it

Salvation sounded stubborn and it was a star relic sword. Good at the game and generous. The stars were shining upon Yoo Joonghyuk’s favor after all.

Okay.

good !

Incarnation Salvation has sent you a gift!

Yoo Joonghyuk opens the message, clicking the button Accept Gift.

You have received Cthulhu’s Slayer (S-Class) !

He feels a tug at the corner of his lips and he doesn’t try to hold the forming smile in. He equips his new sword

Thanks.
You fight good.

!!!
you do too !

He stares at the screen, contemplating his next course of action. Deciding to take the risk, he sends Salvation a friend request. His already manic chat somehow becomes faster at the action.

DeluDevi: HES DECLARED HIM HIS LIFELONG RIVAL

SupremeSimp: OMG HE[S NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE IM GONNA THROW UP

JudgeOfFire: MY SHIPP IS SAILING

H2OAdmiral: MASTER ACTUALLY KNOWS HOW TO SEND A FRIEND REQUEST???????

SPlotter donated 15,000 ₩!
How much to buy your account?

swk4: :BisexualPride::BisexualPride::BisexualPride::BisexualPride:

Incarnation Salvation has accepted your friend request!

You are now friends with Incarnation Salvation !

Yoo Joonghyuk has to fight against the need to fist pump and scream at the notification on his screen. Mentally, he’s doing a very happy gay dance. He checks his face cam to see that his face still held the same stoic expression, albeit his ears were flushed red.

we’re friends now yeyyyyy
i do have to log off now tho
i’ve been playing for hours lol

A pang of disappointment hits Yoo Joonghyuk. He does not let this show on his face. Somehow, his chat still mocks him for it despite no physical indication of the emotion. Why did he ever decide to become a streamer?

That’s fair.
I will be logging off too.

cool cool
c u 2morrow king !

Yoo Joonghyuk once again does a mental fist pump.

Same time?

sure sure
byeeeeeeee

Goodbye.

He watches as Salvation logs off and follows quickly after.

“Well, chat. That was it for today,” he says slowly while reading the chat’s goodbyes, “I’ll be streaming again tomorrow. Same time.”

SupremeSimp: byeeeee <3

JudgeOfFire: Take care, king!!!

BlackFlame: are u rlly ending stream bc salvation logged off?

SPlotter: Can you consider my offer more?

He gives one final nod to the camera before ending the stream and shutting down his PC. He stares at the black monitor before calmly flopping into his bed and abruptly screaming into a pillow.

He rolls around, pillow being strangled in his arms, thinking about the player that had saved him from the squid. He knows that person is attractive. He knows. He feels it in his bones.

He grabs his phone and opens Twitter, already knowing what to expect from his feed. His face had maintained his signature look but his actions would have left an impact on his viewers.

It was evident by the first tweet that showed up on his Home page.

Uriel
@cutieangel

SOOO UHMMM ARE GONNA TALK ABOUT SALVATION YET OR WHAT

Several similar tweets showed up and there were even clips of Salvation’s gameplay that he hungrily rewatched.

Salvation really was an attractive man.

Yoo Joonghyuk had to leave bed to cook dinner for his little sister soon but first…

He stares thoughtfully at his phone before switching to his alt and tweeting something in the span of 10 seconds. He turns off his phone so he wouldn’t have to deal with the consequences of his actions.

Han Sooyoung sees that the Supreme Bastard had finished streaming. She would ask him about it but she was certain that the only reply she’ll get would be a simple ‘Good.’

She had checked in on the stream earlier, even donating to make the bastard hurry up and go into the dungeon, so she knew the stream went well. What she needed was feedback.

She doesn’t ask him and instead opens the number 1 fastest hell feast of information in the world: Twitter.

Supreme King and Ways of Survival are predictably trending. While the man was an insufferable piece of shit, she can’t deny that his reach had its benefits. She scrolls under Ways of Survival, reading the reviews and Yoo Joonghyuk fans wanting him to play more. She goes back to the trending page to check if WOS had also trended except something catches her eyes before she can start searching.

Salvation was trending. Now, she expects that all she’ll see under the tag would be some religious shit but her curiosity had been piqued and she’s already tapped on the tag before having any second thoughts about it.

An ungodly screech comes out of her mouth when the page has loaded in and her fiance, Yoo Sangah, runs into the room in panic. Han Sooyoung wordlessly passes the phone over to her, still screaming.

Yoo Sangah takes a second to read the tweet before promptly dropping the phone on the ground.

On the now cracked phone screen is an unexpected tweet.

yjh
@Punisher

I want WOS player Salvation to sit on my face.

Small giggles start to bubble out of Han Sooyoung’s mouth and it soon turned into hysterical laughter.

“Is he-” Yoo Sangah starts, “Is he talking about Dokja-ssi?”

Han Sooyoung nods at her partner while still laughing breathlessly.

This was going to be very interesting.

Chapter Text

Yoo Joonghyuk does not know how long he’s been streaming. All he remembers doing from the moment he woke up was cooking breakfast and Mia’s lunch then seeing her off to school. The next series of events are a blur of sitting down in front of his PC, silently starting stream and grinding WOS for hours on end.

His once Level 12 character now stood proudly at Level 19. Things had been going well for him since he’s unlocked the Dokaebbi Bag at Level 15.

He’s earned a lot of hidden dungeon keys from his grinding and has even found some of the hidden dungeons the keys were for. He refused to enter any of them due to yesterday’s traumatic events.

SupremeSimp: king u are failing to stay hydrated !

JudgeOfFire: ahhh joonghyukkiee u need to take care of urself more :-(

BlackFlame: YES SLAY THE ENEMIES AND OFFER THEM TO ME, YOUR EMPEROR

SPlotter: When is Salvation coming back?

He squints at the chat. Has he really been streaming for that long? Now that chat had mentioned it, his throat did feel dry.

He gets his character into one of the safe zones and stretches his arms.

“I’ll be back, chat. I’ll just go and get something to dri-”

His physical thirst is replaced by a different kind of thirst when he sees the Offline status next to Salvation’s name turn Online with a small green dot to replace the previous grey dot.

His hands move faster than they ever have before and he’s sent a message, his quest to drink water completely forgotten.

Stay put.
I’ll be there.

Yoo Joonghyuk sees Salvation running around in circles and his vision tunnels as he uses his newly acquired skill, Red Phoenix Shunpo, to get to the man faster.

The moment his character is facing his saviour, he starts sending Salvation S-Class mage items that some mobs had dropped.

????
did u mean 2 do that????

Yes.
It’s thanks for yesterday.

u can just sell it tho????

That would be a waste.
They’re S-Class items.

touche…

He feels a smile tug at his lips and he tries his best to keep it from forming. Someone in chat tells him that he looks constipated. He’s a mature adult so he doesn’t flip the camera off despite something in his brain telling him to.

Oh, yeah.
I forgot to mention yesterday that I’m a streamer.
I apologize for telling you so late.

it’s fine lololol

we’d still end up together

This man was going to be the death of him.

He knows Salvation meant that he would have co-oped with him to beat the hidden dungeons but that doesn’t stop Yoo Joonghyuk from imagining Salvation with a white veil and wedding bells. An in-game marriage might be unconventional but he thinks he should include the place where he and Salvation met on their special day.

Can you ask him if he has any social media? pls pls pls

Yoo Joonghyuk furrows his eyebrows at the donation and contemplates banning SPlotter for being annoying. Except chat has now started asking for the same thing and he tries to find a way to tell them to shut the fuck up without being cancelled on Twitter.

At the same time, he was also curious if Salvation had a social media account. He would have asked already if he wasn’t being watched by thousands of people.

king??
whyd u suddenly stop???

Sorry.
Chat was being annoying.

oh
what were they doing lmaoo

They were annoying me into asking if what you
social media was.

ohhhh

Yes.

sorry chat i have absolutely no social media presence

Disappointment bubbles up in his chest but at the same time he huffs smugly.

“You can shut up about it now, chat.”

He sends a look at the camera, specifically for one viewer whose name started with and ‘S’ and ended with ‘Plotter.’

holy shit
the drops r INSANEEE
my luck has never been so good until i met u
maybe ur my lucky charm?
haha jk jk
but STILL

Yoo Joonghyuk sincerely considers changing his branding from Supreme King to Salvation’s Lucky Charm.

After clearing all of the hidden dungeons, Salvation logs off, telling him that he had some errands to run.

Without the presence of his future husband, the hunger and thirst that he had been ignoring comes crashing in in full force. He decides to end his stream.

He looks at vod and the realization that he had streamed for eight hours startles him. This does not stop him from punching his pillows due to the fact that Salvation came back and spent nearly four hours with him.

He takes a quick shower before heading into his kitchen and deciding to make something simple for his late lunch. Mia will be home soon so he cooks her dinner as well.

He’s in the middle of eating his fried chicken when he receives a text from his little sister telling him that she’ll be staying over at a friend’s house to work on a project.

Mia

Oppa
I’m sleeping over at Yoosung’s house

What for?

Our teacher assigned us a group project

Okay.

Can you bring me clothes?
And school uniform for tomorrow

Okay, I will.
Just send me the address.

You’re the best, oppa <3

Mia sends him the address and he continues eating.

His phone rings before he could stand up to put his plate in the sink.

Han Sooyoung was calling.

“Hello.”

“What’s up, supreme bastard?”

“What do you want?”

“Come to a bar called Underworld. We’re celebrating the success of the game my girl genius made.”

“No.”

“I’ll ban your account.”

His eyebrow twitches.

“I’ll kill you.”

“Try it, bitch.”

“I’m not going.”

“Yes, you will. I know where you live.”

“No, you don’t. My address wasn’t needed for the contract to be signed.”

“I have my ways.”

Somehow, Yoo Joonghyuk believed her.

He sighs deeply.

“Okay.”

He doesn’t know why he said that. Perhaps it’s due to his very good mood after spending so much time with a certain WOS player.

He still had to get revenge on Han Sooyoung for the Squid anyway. He hasn’t known the woman for long but he’s known her long enough to know they speak the same language of violence.

“Good. I better see you.”

Mia rushes out to greet him when he steps out of the taxi.

“Oppa!” she shouts out as she attempts to jump in his arms.

He crouches down to meet her and kisses her forehead before handing her a bag containing her clothes and a tupperware of fried chicken.

Another girl, who he assumes is Yoosung, comes out of the house and briskly walks to his little sister.

“Hello, ahjussi. I’m Shin Yoosung,” she introduces herself, slightly bowing her head.

He nods at her in response.

“Take care of Mia for me. There’s fried chicken in the bag in case you two get hungry.”

Shin Yoosung nods and mumbles a soft thank you at him.

“Oppa! You’re leaving already?” Mia pouts at him.

“I’m going out to meet with someone,” he says after grunting a confirmation.

“A girlfriend? A boyfriend?”

He raises an incredulous eyebrow at her.

“A… friend?” she says after a period of silence, “oppa, you have friends?”

He lightly flicks her forehead before walking away to find another taxi.

Han Sooyoung is angrily tapping her phone when he arrives. He has never seen her look so irritated.

He takes the opportunity to slap the back of her head and her face slams into her phone. She lets go of the phone and it clatters on the floor. Upon closer look, the screen had a crack.

Yoo Joonghyuk would feel bad if it wasn’t Han Sooyoung’s. However, it is and he believes that she completely deserves it.

Her head swerves to face him.

“WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!”

“You deserved it,” he says as he takes a seat on one of the bar stools.

Han Sooyoung picks up her phone and glares harder at him when she sees the cracked phone screen.

“You fucking bitch, I just got this this morning.”

Okay, maybe Yoo Joonghyuk felt a little guilty. Unfortunately for Han Sooyoung, his pride was higher. He grunts at her in response. It’s not like she couldn’t afford it.

She scowls menacingly at him.

“Fuck you.” She turns to call at the bartender. “Jung Heewon, please get me whatever can get me drunk as fast as possible.”

The bartender, Jung Heewon, raises an eyebrow at her.

“Wasn’t Dokja supposed to be with you?”

Han Sooyoung glances at him. He ignores her.

Jung Heewon starts mixing what looked to be vodka and absinthe.

“He’s been shutting himself in his house again,” she mumbles in response, “This is probably a new record. It’s almost been a month since I last saw him outside of his house.”

Yoo Joonghyuk would be concerned for whoever Dokja was if he cared. As it stands, he has no idea who Dokja is and he finds himself judging the faceless man.

He stops paying attention to the conversation when he sees a familiar face enter the bar.

Lee Hyunsung’s face brightened when their eyes met and the man jogs over to sit on the stool next to him.

“I didn’t expect to see you here, captain!”

“...Lee Hyunsung,” he starts, “How have you been?”

“I’ve been well. I usually come to this bar to destress so I’m really glad to see the captain here!”

He didn’t think Lee Hyunsung was someone who drank a lot.

“Hey, pretty boy,” Jung Heewon says, batting here eyelashes at Lee Hyunsung’s direction.

…Though, it seems like the alcohol wasn’t the main reason for Lee Hyunsung’s “destressing.”

After some drinks and a few hours of watching Jung Heewon flirt with Lee Hyunsung, Yoo Joonghyuk was slightly tipsy.

He was nowhere near the level of inebriation Han Sooyoung was in though. The woman was angrily ranting to him in a language that he didn’t know and he nods every now and then to appease her. He thinks it’s very sad that she had to call someone she barely knew to drink with.

He might be emotionally constipated but he still felt pity for the woman. It's hard not to when she looks so pathetic.

At some point, he decides he’s had enough of her drunk venting and tells her he’s leaving.

Surprisingly, she lets him.

“...he didn’t even show up,” he makes out from her incoherent babbling. “whas the point of you being here…”

He leaves with reassurance from Jung Heewon that Han Sooyoung will be able to go home safely.

When he’s in a taxi, he takes out his phone, opening Twitter and editing his alt’s profile.

Now with a new header of a screenshot of him and Salvation, he taps the Tweet button, adding pictures of Salvation that he had saved from yesterday’s stream.

Salvation’s Lucky Charm
@Punisher

Look me in the eyes and tell me you wouldn’t let him shove his dick down your throat.

[Three photos of Salvation’s WOS character and one photo of Supreme King standing side by side with Salvation]

Supreme King being a streamer hadn’t been a surprise to Kim Dokja. After all, Han Sooyoung had talked his ears off on her plans to sponsor a few select streamers to play Ways of Survival.

What surprised him, however, was how the guy had befriended him and chose to drag him with him to clear dungeons. The guy was a pretty good player for someone who just began the game. It probably had something to do with his Protagonist luck.

Needless to say, he was intrigued.

A quick google search reveals the Supreme King’s identity.

Yoo Joonghyuk. The most attractive man he has ever laid his eyes on.

Eyebrows seemingly drawn by a single, uninterrupted stroke of a famous artist's brush; a nose and a chin shaped in perfect angles that defied attempts to measure them through mere devices of men; a pair of deep eyes seemingly carved out of beautiful jewels…

His game avatar doesn’t do any justice to his actual looks.

Something jumps into his lap and he looks down to see his cat purring up a storm. His hands come down to pet her soft fur.

“Biyoo-yah, I think I just met a protagonist,” he whispers to her like it’s a secret.

Biyoo meows curiously at him.

He sees the link to Yoo Joonghyuk’s twitch channel and clicks it. He makes himself comfortable on his bed and clicks the stream from this morning.

His eyes stray away from the actual gameplay and he is magnetized by the man playing it. Yoo Joonghyuk has what he can only describe as a resting bitch face, though the occasional twitch of an eyebrow and scrunches of his nose betrays his emotions.

Kim Dokja is two hours into watching the stream when he drifts off to sleep.

He is completely oblivious to Han Sooyoung spamming him texts and missed calls to get him to come to the bar and meet a certain someone.

Chapter Text

Yoo Joonghyuk has successfully trapped Salvation into being his official unofficial partner in Ways of Survival. And it only took him two weeks.

He pats himself on the back and huffs proudly at the thought and his short internal boasting causes him to be distracted enough for Salvation to have to block a hit aimed at him from the boss they were currently fighting.

Yoo Joonghyuk quickly gets his head back in the game and resumes attacking the giant praying mantis. He moves in sync with Salvation, covering the man’s blind spots and continuing the combos the man deals on the boss.

Their teamwork (more commonly referred to as the power of their love in his head) quickly defeats the boss and Salvation runs in circles in what he now recognizes as an indication of happiness.

The bosses in Ways of Survival were surprisingly easy to beat for what was supposedly the harder mode of the game. Perhaps the Salvation buff was just too effective.

The nickname still makes his face flush pink even when it’s been a week since Salvation had started calling him that. The number one perk of having your identity publicly documented on the internet is that your future husband will call you endearing nicknames before you’ve even met. He’s winning life, he thinks.

Yoo Joonghyuk watches as his chat zooms by in despair. He feels absolutely no remorse for blaming them. They deserved some humbling.

DeluDevi: YES SUPREME KING INTIMIDATE UR NEMESIS

BlackFlame: YOUR EMPEROR AGREES WITH @DeluDevi !

Yoo Joonghyuk takes a deep breath.

He turns on the in-game mic.

“Hello?” his voice quivers.

Salvation stops running in circles.

“Sorry. This probably surprised you,” he says, barely keeping himself from stuttering, “Someone donated and asked me to do this. Just send a message if you’re uncomfortable.”

He waits.

No message comes but instead, a smooth voice is heard from his headphones.

“Hello, Yoo Joonghyuk,” Salvation says his name like it’s the first time he’s said it and he’s tasting something new and foreign but not unwelcome and Yoo Joonghyuk has stopped breathing.

Salvation lets out a tired chuckle like he hasn’t changed something fundamental in Yoo Joonghyuk’s life, like his voice wasn’t a revelation from a god, like this was something that could just happen on any normal day in Yoo Joonghyuk’s life when it wasn’t.

“Or should I still call you Hyukkie?”

Yoo Joonghyuk can die in peace now.

He’s vaguely aware of SPlotter donating more suicide baits and death threats and JudgeOfFire screaming in chat. He’s vaguely aware of his death grip on his poor mouse and the way his face was flushed red and how his mouth hung slightly open for the whole world to see.

Surprisingly, he still does not give a fuck. His future is speaking to him right now and everything else was irrelevant.

“Meow.”

“Biyoo!” The sound of shuffling is picked up by Salvation’s mic and the muffled sound of Salvation’s scolding comes through his headphones.

“Sorry,” Salvation says, “My cat jumped up on the table.”

His future had a cat. He has a cat.

Yoo Joonghyuk has to cover his mouth with his hand to keep himself from squealing, subtly biting his palm hoping the pain will help clear his mind. It did not.

“Hyukkie? Are you still there? Hello?” Salvation calls, drawing out the last syllable.

He only manages a vaguely constipated sounding grunt in response.

“Hello! We’ve never actually gotten to introduce each other, huh?” Salvation’s voice is akin to wind chimes.

Yoo Joonghyuk takes deep breaths. He grunts out another response.

“I’ll start then,” Salvation says, “I’m Salvation. Nice to meet you!”

He kind of hoped the man would give him his real name but somehow, he expected this. From previous observations, Salvation was clearly a private man. He wouldn’t broadcast his name recklessly like that.

“...I’m Yoo Joonghyuk,” he says, careful to keep his voice steady.

“Well, Hyukkie,” he starts, “How did you find yourself playing the wonderful game that is Ways of Survival?”

“A witch came by one day and offered a lot of money for me to play,” he answers with no hesitation.

Salvation bursts out laughing. Yoo Joonghyuk would like to hear his laugh more.

“That ‘witch’ promised me that I’ll be the first one to play her game,” Salvation says after calming down, “My account was the first one ever made but I still wasn’t the first to play it because of beta testers. The moment hard mode was playable, I was the first one in.”

Salvation sounds like he’s smiling so hard right now. His now calm breathing hitches.

There’s a comfortable silence between them for a solid minute.

“So, Hyukkie, what’s your favorite color?”

“Black.”

“Oh! That makes sense. Mine is white. Perhaps that’s why we’re so good together?

All good things come to an end, and unfortunately, Yoo Joonghyuk had to cook dinner.

Yoo Mia keeps sending him concerned glances as Yoo Joonghyuk happily hums while cooking dinner, still riding the high of the one-hour verbal conversation with Salvation.

The conversation mostly consisted of Salvation asking him things about himself while imparting various tidbits of information about himself. Yoo Joonghyuk carefully stores each fact about Salvation neatly organized in a part of his brain unofficially titled the Salvation shrine.

He thinks of alternatives for tomatoes as he and Mia eat in silence. Mia finishes her dinner first, hurriedly putting away her dishes and retreating into her room like she’s trying to hide from something.

Yoo Joonghyuk’s happy humming resumes as he cleans the dinner table and washes the dishes.

After brushing his teeth, he settles into his bed and hurriedly opens his phone’s Twitter app, searching for the account that archived every Salvation appearance.

After some brief scrolling, he finds the clip of when Salvation first revealed his voice. He maximizes the volume of his phone.

“Hello, Yoo Joonghyuk.”

“Hello, Yoo Joonghyuk.”

“Hello, Yoo Joonghyuk.”

He loops the clip again and again, holding his phone in front of his face as he kicked his feet in the air, a wide grin on his face.

“Hello, Yoo Joonghyuk.”

He plays the clip one last time and he squeezes his phone to his chest, rolling around in his bed as little giggles erupted out of him.

Holy shit.

Earlier that morning:

Han Sooyoung sighs as her texts are once again left on read.

“Sooyoung-ah,” her beautiful fiance that she had dragged to the cafe with her calls out, “I think you should stop trying to set Dokja-ssi and Yoo Joonghyuk-ssi up.”

She pouts at Yoo Sangah, not wanting to respond verbally.

“You don’t need to meddle with them so much.” Yoo Sangah takes a sip of her chamomile tea. “I have a feeling they’ll find their way to each other whether you interfere or not.”

“Yeah, but that’s no fun,” Han Sooyoung replies, sighing deeper.

“It would be more fun for you if you don’t spend so much time worrying your pretty little head over this.”

Han Sooyoung looks at her steaming cup of coffee.

“You’re right,” she admits, grumbling.

“I’m always right,” Yoo Sangah replies with her signature polite smile.

Han Sooyoung scowls at her instead of sticking her tongue out because she’s mature like that.

Chapter 4

Summary:

“It’s a bit unfair that I know so much about you when you barely know anything about me…”

Yoo Joonghyuk waits for him to continue, breath baited.

“Would you like to meet up?”

Notes:

hello hello!

i saw there was a lot of confusion on yjh's alt.

yjh's alt was created solely so that the fans could relate to him more! his manager forced him to make it. none of the others were forced into making an alt but they did in solidarity w their captain.

yjh's main tweet was mostly used to announce streams/competitions he'll be participating in and his alt, pre-salvation, was mostly filled with pictures of the food he would make. most of his fan interactions on twt are on his alt. regardless, he becomes A LOT more relatable after his thirst tweeting starts so really he's just doing what his manager asked from him.

also wanted to clear up that from other characters' pov, yjh still acts like the same emotionally constipated bastard that we all know and love. but bc the fic is written from his pov, he's hyperaware of his own reactions. the parts where he gets all giggly is completely accurate w no exaggeration tho this man is WHIPPED.

with that on the way, let's proceed to the chapter WOOT WOOT!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

“Hey, Hyukkie.”

Yoo Joonghyuk hums out a response.

Salvation’s voice didn’t elicit as strong of a reaction from him anymore. That wasn’t to say he’s stopped reacting to him, no, not at all. His body still jolts at the sound of the man’s silvery voice, though it’s a lot tamer compared to when he was still getting used to Salvation’s voice.

“So I’ve been thinking…” Salvation trails off.

“What have you been thinking about?”

Yoo Joonghyuk hopes that he’s been thinking about him, he hopes he’s on Salvation’s mind as much as Salvation is on his.

“It’s a bit unfair that I know so much about you when you barely know anything about me…”

Yoo Joonghyuk waits for him to continue, breath baited.

“Would you like to meet up?”

His whole body freezes and wedding bells start chiming in his head. He glances at the chat and gets a headache from how fast it was going.

H2OAdmiral: CONGRATULATIONS MASTER

DeluDevi: YOU CAN FINALLY PUT SALVATION IN HIS PLACE!

“You don’t have to, of course,” Salvation backtracks nervously, “It’s just-”

“I want to meet you, Salvation.” Yoo Joonghyuk finds his voice again, Salvation’s voice bringing him back to the (disappointing) reality where they weren’t married with 15 beautiful children.

“Oh, good!” Salvation audibly brightens, “I’ll give you my number when you end stream then.”

Yoo Joonghyuk has already ended his stream before Salvation could finish the sentence.

“Okay, tell me now.”

“What?” Salvation asks weakly.

A small smile appears on Yoo Joonghyuk’s face.

“Give me your number. I ended stream early,” he answers smugly.

“Why did you end stream? You just started!” his future husband protests.

A frown replaces the smile on his face.

“Just give me your number, Salvation,” he insists with a petulant pout.

Salvation sighs and starts reciting his number.

“Do you still want to play?” he asks after Yoo Joonghyuk repeats his number to him to confirm that he copied it down right.

“I’m contractually not allowed to play it without streaming,” he responds, brows furrowed.

“Well,” Salvation says like he’s about to point out something obvious, “Restart your stream then.”

Yoo Joonghyuk grunts in response.

“Okay. Let me tweet it out first.”

Yoo Joonghyuk
@SupremeKing

Apologies for the stream ending abruptly. There were technical difficulties. Will be restarting the stream in a bit.

Someone replies to his tweet immediately after it’s posted.

most genius girl writer
@FalseDirector

He contemplates blocking Twitter user @FalseDirector. He turns off his phone instead.

Salvation sends him a text after stream.

Future Husband <3

heyyy

Hello.

what day r u available???

The only day I’m not available is Thursday.

cool cool

is friday fine then?

Sure.

Salvation sends him an address and tells him to just show it to the taxi driver. They’re meeting at his house and Yoo Joonghyuk honestly can’t believe it.

Yoo Joonghyuk spends a few more minutes staring at his phone before he starts twirling around his room, a gleeful smile lighting up his eyes.

He kisses his phone’s screen a few times before collapsing in his bed and screaming into his mattress.

“You’ve been happier lately, oppa,” Mia says in the middle of dinner.

He looks up to look at her as she observes him like she’s trying to solve an unexplainable puzzle.

“I suppose.”

“Why is that?” She starts poking at her dumplings.

“Don’t play with your food,” he scolds. “I’m meeting a friend in a few days.”

Mia continues to stare at him.

“I see.”

A few seconds of silence pass and Mia starts eating her food again.

“Are you sure your ‘friend’ isn’t a serial killer?”

He raises a brow at her.

“I’m just worried!” She pouts at him.

Yoo Joonghyuk huffs in amusement.

“I’ll be careful then.”

They continue to eat dinner in silence.

“Master!” Lee Jihye calls out to him when he enters their practice room.

“Have you met up with Salvation yet?”

“Have you put the squid ahjussi in his place yet?”

Lee Jihye and Kim Namwoon ask at the same time. Lee Jihye, however, takes offense to being interrupted and starts chasing Kim Namwoon around the room. The boy does his best to escape her wrath, pleading for her mercy. His pleas, like usual, fall on deaf ears.

Yoo Joonghyuk watches the two squabble with an unimpressed look.

Lee Hyunsung enters the room and calms Lee Jihye down enough for them to start actually practicing.

After a few rounds, Lee Hyunsung taps lightly on his shoulder.

“Captain, our manager wants to talk to you before you go home.”

Yoo Joonghyuk frowns at that.

“Master! You didn’t answer my question earlier,” Lee Jihye says, suddenly standing beside Lee Hyunsung.

Kim Namwoon perks up at this, turning all of his attention to them.

“...we’re meeting up tomorrow,” he finally relents.

He starts hurrying out when Lee Hyunsung stops him.

“Good luck on your date, Captain,” he says with knowing eyes.

Lee Jihye starts bullying Kim Namwoon again.

He sends a determined nod in Lee Hyunsung’s way.

“Joonghyuk-ssi,” his manager, Bihyung, starts, “Please refrain from using your alt Twitter account as a diary.”

Yoo Joonghyuk’s stare burns a hole in Bihyung’s head. His manager doesn’t react due to his long experience of dealing with Yoo Joonghyuk for most of his professional gaming career.

“No.”

Bihyung's eyes tear up.

He wakes up on 6:30 in the morning.

He makes breakfast for both him and Mia and packs Mia’s lunch in advance. He eats first, leaving his little sister’s plate on the table.

He then proceeds to lock himself in the bathroom with several of the fancy body wash and shampoo someone had given him a few months back.

When he comes out smelling of sandalwood and apples, Mia had already gone to school. He only retreats into his room after checking that she had eaten and hadn’t forgotten to bring her lunch.

Upon entering his room, he throws his closet door open and starts going through every article of clothing he owns. After putting on a black, fitting turtleneck and a pair of brown pants, he stares at himself in the mirror.

He looks at his reflection, dissatisfaction clear on his face. He’s aware he looks good. He’s been told many times in his life that he was handsome. But right now, he was a man on a mission. He was moving on to the next step of Operation “Marry Salvation and Carry His 15 Children.” He cannot fail now.

He takes out the Rolex watch his parents had sent him on his 19th birthday and quickly puts it on, adjusting it once it was on his wrist.

He checks himself out in the mirror before scowling and taking out his secret weapon: eyeliner. His hands are steady as he draws on a sharp wing.

He looks at himself and his mouth forms in a small satisfied smile.

He sprays on a bit of cologne before putting on his best shoes and leaving his apartment.

He’s dropped off in front of what looked to be a mansion in what must have been the fanciest neighborhood he’s ever been to.

He stares contemplatingly at the doorbell before ringing it.

There’s a shuffling on the other side of the door before the prettiest boy he’s ever seen opens it.

He’s not beautiful the same way magazine models are, rather his beauty is subtle like field flowers. Long eyelashes curtaining his wide galaxy eyes flutter as he examines Yoo Joonghyuk. Long, lithe fingers hold the door open and Yoo Joonghyuk catches the smell of jasmine and old books.

He was of average height but still shorter than Yoo Joonghyuk. If he leans forward just a little bit more, he’s certain he can smell more of the jasmine scent wafting from the man’s hair. His small, plump lips arch into a small, unassuming smile.

Their eyes meet and Yoo Joonghyuk gets lost. He gazes into the man’s eyes and he sees things he was never meant to; he finds the secrets of the universe, he finds a million different worlds, he finds his purpose in life. He sees his future.

“Hello, Joonghyuk-ah,” the man says, “It’s nice to finally meet you. I’m Kim Dokja, though I suppose you know me more as Salvation.”

He doesn’t know when he stopped breathing but when he starts again, the smell of jasmine fills his lungs.

Yoo Joonghyuk is in love.

Yoo Mia sighs as she slumps over on her desk.

“Mia-yah, what’s wrong?” Yoosung asks her friend in concern.

“Oppa has been acting really strange lately.”

“Strange? How?” Yoosung pats her friend’s back.

“Well.” Yoo Mia pauses to think. “I hear him giggling in his room alone sometimes. And he hums a lot when he cooks now.”

“That sounds really creepy,” Lee Gilyoung says.

Yoo Mia glares at the boy.

“Well… doesn’t it sound like he’s just happy?” Yoosung tries to remember the one time she had interacted with Yoo Mia’s older brother.

“Yeah, but that’s not how he usually expresses his happiness. He’s like a whole new person. I’ve been considering asking Seolhwa-unnie for help,” Yoo Mia grumbles out.

Yoo Mia’s older brother certainly didn’t look like the type to giggle out loud from what Yoosung remembered.

“Help you with what?” Lee Gilyoung asks.

“Sending him to therapy. Getting him professional help,” Yoo Mia answers.

Lee Gilyoung nods in understanding.

The teacher comes in before Yoosung could convince her not to send her brother to therapy.

Han Sooyoung throws her phone at the wall upon seeing Yoo Joonghyuk’s latest tweet.

“Sooyoung-ah.” Yoo Sangah smiles blankly at her. “How many phones have you broken this month already?”

Han Sooyoung screams into the couch in response.

Salvation’s Lucky Charm
@Punisher

On my way to meet my lord and savior, Salvation.

She knew they were going to meet up. She was watching the stream. She didn’t know anything else though because Kim Dokja had been stubbornly ignoring her and she’s been too busy to drop by his place and demand information.

Still, she was frustrated thinking of all her previous attempts to get the two to meet.

Han Sooyoung felt like crying.

Fuck gay people.

Chapter 5

Summary:

“Kim Dokja.”

“Stop calling me that. Call me Dokja. Dok. Ja.”

Yoo Joonghyuk doesn’t need to look back to know that he was scowling. A small grin appears on his face.

“Well,” he says, drawing the word out, “Why don’t you call me Hyukkie first?”

Chapter Text

Yoo Joonghyuk’s fist forms into a ball, squeezing his thumb to ground himself.

Salvation - no, he has his name now and it’s Kim Dokja - continues to watch him with bright eyes.

“Joonghyuk-ah?” Kim Dokja says, snapping him out of his daze.

Yoo Joonghyuk nods at the man in acknowledgment. Kim Dokja's smile grows wider.

“What are you waiting for?.” He raises a brow. “Come in.” He beckons for him to enter, stepping aside so Yoo Joonghyuk can walk into the house.

Once Yoo Joonghyuk is inside, Kim Dokja gives him a pair of slippers. He quickly switches into it and leaves his shoes on the shoe rack. He follows Kim Dokja inside, not once taking his eyes off of the man, taking in the opportunity to etch the man’s features into his brain.

It was nice to have a face for the person he had thought of building a future with.

Kim Dokja abruptly stops walking and turns to him with a serious face. Yoo Joonghyuk freezes with him.

“I’ll be completely honest,” he starts, his voice low.

Yoo Joonghyuk focuses all of his attention on him, carefully listening for what Kim Dokja will say next.

Kim Dokja opens his pretty little mouth.

“I have absolutely no idea what we’re going to do here.”

A stomach’s rumbling is heard immediately after. Kim Dokja’s face flushes pink.

Yoo Joonghyuk’s eyes narrow at the sound.

“Kim Dokja…”

The smaller man looks away from him, fidgeting but still smiling, albeit nervously this time.

“You can just call me Dokja, Joonghyuk-ah,” he squeaks out. “After all, we’re friends now, aren’t we? Haha, of course, I don’t mean to presume but we have known each other for a while now-”

“Where’s your kitchen?” he interrupts.

Kim Dokja wordlessly points at an entrance on the right side of the house. He’s still blushing and Yoo Joonghyuk can’t help but let his eyes linger more at the sight. How cute.

He starts briskly walking to the kitchen but pauses for a second.

“Also, we aren’t friends.”

After all, what he and Kim Dokja had built was way more substantial than simple friendship. Maybe he should ask for the man’s hand in marriage now.

“We… aren’t?” a broken whimper is heard.

Well, fuck. Maybe he should have worded that differently.

“We’re… companions.” he settles before he resumes walking to hide his flushed ears.

Kim Dokja hurries after him, newborn enthusiasm apparent with every step. It’s adorable, really.

The kitchen is a big, pristine thing. Most of it was a stark white with little black and gold embellishments to contrast.

There’s a wide kitchen island in the middle and he drags his fingers along its cold surface and stumbles upon what looked to be a wine refrigerator built into it. He’s tempted to open it but the rest of the kitchen was begging to be explored. The white cabinets’ handles were golden and the faucets were too. There was a coffee bar with bags of expensive-looking coffee beans. There were two built-in ovens next to the countertop.

He stops in front of the fridge, his heart beating faster than it ever had in his life. His breath comes out shaky as he examines the fridge. It looked like the latest model available as of now. After seeing the rest of the kitchen, he wasn’t surprised anymore.

In short, this kitchen looked like something that came from one of his wet dreams.

Maybe he really should ask for Kim Dokja’s hand in marriage right now. He kind of wants to see the man sprawled on the kitchen island, breathless and body flushed against his as he moans out Joonghyuk’s name.

His thoughts are broken off when the soft padding of footsteps on marble tiles reaches his ears.

“What are you even doing in my kitchen?” Kim Dokja asks.

Instead of answering, he opens the fridge, expecting it to be as luxurious as the kitchen. To his surprise, the fridge is instead filled with what looked like space food nutrient packets. He holds one in his hand and almost drops it when he discovers that it’s jelly.

The packet is snatched away from him by an indignant Kim Dokja and he gives the man the most disappointed look he could muster, one that he reserves for Mia when she doesn’t finish her food.

“What? Stop judging me! They’re efficient.”

Kim Dokja is going to die young because he lived too efficiently and that will not do because if Kim Dokja dies young, then he won’t be alive long enough for Yoo Joonghyuk to live out his fantasies of having a big family.

He can feel tears forming in his eyes. He rummages through the fridge more and sighs in relief when he finds some eggs and a few vegetables in the bottom drawer of the fridge. He finds a plate of leftover rice and asks Kim Dokja when it was from.

“Oh, the kids were over yesterday,” he answers. “I cook when they visit.”

This piques Yoo Joonghyuk’s interest because Salvation had never mentioned having kids. Though, Salvation didn’t mention a lot of things, to be fair.

“Kids?” he urges him on.

“Well, they aren’t my kids,” Kim Dokja hurriedly explains, “Not yet, anyway. I’ve been sponsoring them with money because their families… aren’t in the best situation. I’ve been working on gaining custody for a while now but it’s still getting processed.”

Yoo Joonghyuk randomly chooses a cupboard to open and finds the frying pan right away. He does the same to the drawers and soon he was holding the nicest spatula he’s ever seen.

Kim Dokja asks him what he was making.

“Omurice.”

His future husband lights up significantly at that and he makes a note to practice making omurice more.

“So, Joonghyuk-ah…” Kim Dokja calls out with a lilting voice.

He hears a hitch of breath and he doesn’t need to look back to know that Kim Dokja was blushing. He’s enjoying how easy it is to predict the man’s reactions.

Kim Dokja mumbles something behind him.

“Speak up,” he orders.

“I SAID IT’S EMBARRASSING,” Kim Dokja confesses. “It’s different calling you… that when you’re in front of me.”

“And why is that?”

“Because you’re unnecessarily handsome, you bastard king,” he continued.

He preens at the answer. Satisfaction curdles in his chest and he refrains from fist pumping in victory at the raised chances of his mission succeeding.

He presents the omurice to Kim Dokja. He plated it to look as elegant as possible and Kim Dokja claps as the dish is put in front of him.

Yoo Joonghyuk watches as Kim Dokja takes his first bite, his glossy, pink lips wrapping around the spoon. A hum of satisfaction comes from him at the taste and his throat bobs prettily when he swallows. Yoo Joonghyuk wonders how much his hands can wrap around it.

“This is really good, Joonghyuk-ah,” he tells him, smiling happily. “I might even ask for your hand in marriage just to have your cooking everyday.”

Yoo Joonghyuk almost gets on his knees and proposes right then and there.

“Just kidding! It is really good though.” Kim Dokja continues eating.

Yoo Joonghyuk wilts a little bit.

They move back to the living room after Kim Dokja finishes eating.

He takes a look around the living room, as he was a little bit too occupied to actually see it the first time around. There’s a huge cat tower next to shelves upon shelves of books and a huge TV in front of the leather couches. There’s a gaming console and a few games under the TV but what really catches his attention are the books stacked on the coffee table, at least six of them with bookmarked pages and cracked spines.

“Do you want to play a game?” Kim Dokja asks.

He shakes his head in response.

“Tell me about the books you’ve been reading.”

This, evidently, opens a dam and Kim Dokja starts talking and talking, explaining the plot of each book with wide hand gestures and more emotion than Yoo Joonghyuk has ever heard from him in the two months he’s known the man. He listens attentively, of course, like every good malewife should do, and asks questions that Kim Dokja is more than happy to answer.

Kim Dokja is halfway through explaining King of a Kingless World when they hear a soft meow.

“Aw, hello, baby.” Kim Dokja lifts Biyoo up and puts her on his lap, petting her fur.

He continues to explain the book but Yoo Joonghyuk was currently busy trying not to keel over from the cuteness in front of him.

He really, really wished he could permanently tattoo this moment on the back of his eyelids so he can see it whenever he closes his eyes. Alas, the world is a cruel one and therefore it isn’t ‘possible.’

He curses possibility under his breath.

At some point, Biyoo decides to vacate her owner’s lap and move to Yoo Joonghyuk's.

He freezes when the little ball of fur jumps on him and looks to Kim Dokja for help. Kim Dokja, however, did not help and instead watched them with awe and started taking pictures which was something Yoo Joonghyuk wanted to do, damn it.

He calms down a little when Kim Dokja started taking selfies with him in the background.

There now exists pictures of him and his future husband on the day they met. He’s going to add it to his ever-growing folder of Salvation interactions that he will present on his wedding day.

“Can I post that photo?”

Kim Dokja freezes at the question.

“Sorry, Joonghyuk-ah, but I try my best to keep my face off of the internet,” he explains apologetically. “I don’t really ever get on any social media to keep my privacy. Your streams are an exception though, but only because I like you!”

He nods at the answer and Kim Dokja smiles gratefully at that.

He wonders if he notices the redness of his ears.

Mia texts him to ask where he is at 6:30 and he tells Kim Dokja that he needed to go home for his little sister. He nods understandingly.

“I can drive you, just tell me how to get there,” he offers.

Yoo Joonghyuk accepts, not only because his little sister was waiting for him, but also because he’s taking any chance to spend more time with Kim Dokja.

He’s led to a sleek black Ferrarighini and his heart almost stops at the sight of the car.

Of course , Kim Dokja drives one of these. This man drives him a little crazier with every new thing he learns about him.

It turns out that his future husband is a really good driver. It’s like the universe created this man to be the most attractive person to ever exist. Yoo Joonghyuk is in love. Yoo Joonghyuk is also thinking about letting Kim Dokja bend him over and fuck him silly in this car, so maybe he should clear his head a bit.

He crosses over his legs to hide Little Joonghyuk making a tent in his pants.

Kim Dokja gets focused on another level when he drives. He keeps his eye on the road and shivers run down Yoo Joonghyuk’s back at the intense gaze on the man’s face. He wonders what it would be like to have that gaze on him.

They arrive in his apartment much too fast for Yoo Joonghyuk’s liking but it was to be expected with how smooth and efficient the drive there was.

He’d still like more time with Kim Dokja though.

“Stay for dinner.”

The smaller man jolts at his voice, turning to look at him apologetically.

“Sorry, Joonghyuk-ah,” he sighed, “But the kids are coming over tonight and I need to be there.”

He nods at that, trying to hide his disappointment.

When he leaves the car, he doesn’t go into the building and instead waits until Kim Dokja drives away.

When he enters his apartment, Mia is waiting for him on the couch, wine glass in hand. Though, the glass is filled with orange juice than actual wine, so he doesn’t take it away from her.

“Oppa,” she says upon seeing him. “We need to talk. Sit.”

Yoo Joonghyuk sits on the armchair across her, wondering what was happening.

“Where were you?” she demands.

“I was with a companion,” he answers.

“I thought you were with a friend.”

He stays silent.

Mia sighs.

“Oppa, I know that you’re a grown-up now but that doesn’t mean you can stay out so late and worry your poor little sister like that!”

It was around 7:00 PM. This was not the latest that Yoo Joonghyuk had stayed out for. Still, he nodded in response.

“This companion of yours…” she trails off. “Do you love him?”

Yoo Joonghyuk nods with no hesitance.

Mia’s stare hardened.

“You’ll need this then.” She slides something on the table.

He looked at it and blinked hard, wondering if he was seeing wrong. He was not. He was going to have a heart attack.

“Mia… where did you get this from?”

Mia grins at him proudly.

“Gilyoung’s auntie said that this protects people who are in love,” she explains, “So I made him steal it so I could give it to you.”

Yoo Joonghyuk wills the small, square package away from existence.

To his dismay, the condom does not go away.

“She also said that if you poke it before using it, you can make sure the person you love will stay with you no matter what so it’s extra useful.”

Yoo Joonghyuk was going to cry.

Yoo Joonghyuk was so much more handsome in real life than in his streams.

Kim Dokja mentally curses Han Sooyoung for not introducing him to the man herself. That selfish brat, and after he set her and Sangah up together too. Good deeds truly go thankless in this world.

Yoo Joonghyuk had been good company too, listening attentively to Kim Dokja and even cooking him food. He thinks back to the flavor of the omurice and almost cries at the fact that he had to turn down eating more of Yoo Joonghyuk’s food for dinner.

His phone rings and he answers it, putting it on speaker so he didn’t have to hold it while driving.

“Ahjussi!” “Hyung!”

“Why aren’t you at home?”

“We miss you!”

He chuckles at the two’s voices.

“I’ll be home in a little bit. I had to drive somebody home,” he reassures them.

“You actually went out?!”

“So you weren’t kidnapped?”

“Hah! I told you hyung didn’t get kidnapped! He’s too cool for that.”

“Ahjussi hasn’t left the house in months so I’m sorry for being worried!”

He listens to his kids bicker as he drove home, smiling contently to himself.

Chapter 6

Summary:

Yoo Joonghyuk brings his face closer to Kim Dokja’s. Starry eyes widen as it’s met with molten gold and Kim Dokja gulps.

They’re so close. If Yoo Joonghyuk tips himself over a little more, they could kiss. He could finally feel those soft, pink lips on his.

Their breaths mingle and it’s silent in the kitchen, save for the sound of the dishwasher.

“Joonghyuk-ah?” Kim Dokja sounded so small.

Yoo Joonghyuk brings his hands up to the man’s face carefully, afraid of scaring him off.

Notes:

hi!!!! here's a chonky silly chapter with *clears throat* an actual nsfw scene. have fun!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Yoo Joonghyuk thrusts his hips up, a groan slipping from his lips at the effort.

He exhales as he holds the position before bringing his hips down and taking a breath. Sweat rolls down his forehead, his body running hot from the repetition of the movements. Thankfully, his body wasn’t sore. Though, he wouldn’t have stopped either way.

He was doing this to please Kim Dokja after all.

He thrusts up his hips again. His face was flushed and so was the rest of his body. He tries his best to keep his breathing in control but finds his lungs are struggling to catch up to his body's needs. His arms and legs start slightly trembling, a testament to how hard he’s worked.

He thinks of Kim Dokja. He thinks of his Salvation telling him he’s doing so good and his determination sparks back up in full force.

A tap on his shoulder snaps him out of his thoughts.

“Sorry to interrupt you, captain, but I think you’re overdoing it with the hip thrusts.”

He looks up to meet Lee Hyunsung’s worried eyes. He nods at the man in thanks.

“I got lost in my thoughts. Thanks,” he says while looking at his shaky hands.

Lee Hyunsung chuckles lowly before saying, “It’s okay. We all do that sometimes. Would you like to talk about it?”

Normally, Yoo Joonghyuk would take his offer and reveal a bit of information, talking vaguely about what was weighing on his mind. Lee Hynsung was a dependable teammate and a good man. He would have lent an ear without sneaking in any obnoxious advice.

He just doesn’t think Lee Hyunsung would want to listen to his current dilemma on his speculations of which position Kim Dokja would prefer in bed. Salvation - Kim Dokja - was a smaller man with a delicate disposition. The man looked like he would fall over from a gentle breeze - he should really feed him more and throw out the weird jelly-like astronaut food stocked in his future husband’s fridge.

In summary, Yoo Joonghyuk was sure that Kim Dokja was a bottom. He wasn’t worried about Kim Dokja’s sexuality because even if the man was straight, Yoo Joonghyuk’s beauty transcended sexuality. These were not his words but he’s heard them many times since he started streaming. He’s pretty sure the line was featured in at least half of the news reports on him.

He wasn’t bothered by being the designated top in their (future) relationship, but this does mean he had to revise Operation “Marry Salvation and Carry His 15 Children'' to Operation “Marry Salvation and Have Him Carry Yoo Joonghyuk’s 15 Children,” and he wasn’t sure if Kim Dokja would be as receptive to carrying their babies to term as Yoo Joonghyuk is. Or if Kim Dokja could survive giving birth once, let alone 15 times. Maybe they’ll just have 12 kids, accounting for Mia and Kim Dokja’s two sponsored-slash-future-kids. Hell, he’ll settle for 11 considering Kim Dokja called Biyoo his baby.

He’s positive Lee Hyunsung doesn’t want to hear about his (unnecessary) homosexual panic. So he shakes his head in refusal of the offer.

The bigger man was understanding about it and he returned quickly to working out. Yoo Joonghyuk spent a few more minutes catching his breath and contemplating the entity that is Kim Dokja.

His phone pings, a tiny meow that he set specifically for a very special man, and he quickly unlocks it to read the text he’d been sent.

Future Husband <3

heyyy
hyuk-ah
r u busy

I’m at the gym right now.
Why?

ohh i seee
i was gonna ask if u wanted 2 play wos

I don’t think I can play today.
I’m free tomorrow though.

awww
im going to my parents' 2morrow

Yoo Joonghyuk freezes at that. In his haste to marry Salvation in his mind, he had completely skipped over the fact that Kim Dokja had parents. With his luck, his (future) in-laws would be strict and hesitant to give their consent. He wouldn’t blame them. He isn’t Mia’s father but he’d raised her since she was still a little 2-year-old abandoned by their no-good parents at his doorstep and he’d kill anyone unworthy trying to get her into their filthy claws.

Luckily for him, he’s nowhere near unworthy. He could take care of Kim Dokja more than the man could take care of himself, he earns a decent amount of money, he’s not bad-looking and he’s decently good with kids. And willing to have many more kids. Old people usually wanted to have many grandchildren, right?

This is fine. He’ll be fine .

He sighs deeply before looking at his phone again, trying to ignore the concerned gaze on his back.

What day will you be free?

hmmmm
im not sure
theyre holding a few charity banquets
and i need to attend
but i’ll try to b home asap
bc the kids will miss me

Yoo Joonghyuk will miss him too.

His eyes lingered a bit on the ‘charity banquets.’ He knew Kim Dokja was rich but he didn’t know he was that rich. It seems he will have to work very hard to earn the approval of his future husband’s parents.

I understand.
I’ll be busy for a few days as well.
I’m playing in a tournament
over the weekends and my team
will be busy practicing prior to the event.

!!!!!!!!!!
i wanna watch :((

He feels his heart clench at the small sad emoticon, imagining a small pout on Kim Dokja’s pretty face.

I’ll be streaming it.
You can watch it there.

yea but i wanna watch irl
and cheer u on
or laugh at u if u mess up lol

I won’t mess up.
I’ll win.

ok “supreme king”

I didn’t choose that name.

dont worry i wont judge
middle schooler u for liking that
name

Shut up, Salvation.

A small smile blooms on his face and he hears the sound of someone tripping. He raises a questioning brow at Lee Hyunsung when he sees the man sprawled on the floor.

“I was just surprised to see such a happy expression on the captain’s face,” he explains.

Yoo Joonghyuk looks away, ears flushed. He didn’t think he’d been that obvious.

Kim Dokja’s smiling face stares at him from his phone’s home screen.

He supposes being in love has turned him into a fool. A happy fool, but a fool nonetheless.

Something unexpected comes up on his screen during the tournament.

The donations for their streams were enabled due to the tournament’s nature of being a fundraiser for the LGBTQ+ youth but it was heavily moderated by both his own moderators and the tournament’s staff. The donations trickled in slowly as the gaming hadn’t started yet and he watched as his viewers gave him words of motivation, thanking the ones he could catch.

Then, someone he wasn’t expecting donated.

Salvation9158 donated 350,000 ₩!
win this, hyuk-ah! im cheering 4 u <3

He stares at the screen, completely stunned.

JudgeOfFire: OMG SALVATION????????

SupremeSimp: HE’S WATCHING??????????

swk4: :BisexualPride::BisexualPride::BisexualPride::BisexualPride:

SPlotter: How are you, Salvation?

Salvation9158: I’m doing great, @SPlotter!

SPlotter: That’s good <3

JudgeOfFire: WELCOME TO THE STREAM SALVATION!!!!!

He’s banning SPlotter later.

But first - he stretches his arms and fingers before refocusing on his monitor - he had a tournament to win.

There’s too much at stake here.

He absolutely demolishes all of their opponents.

It was a shame that Kim Dokja had to leave in the middle of the stream but the man watched the VOD and praised him through their texts. The archiving features of Twitch were added solely for this moment, he thinks.

Unfortunately, Kim Dokja got so busy with his duties that he barely sent any texts for the next couple days. They were the most miserable days of Yoo Joonghyuk’s life.

Salvation’s Lucky Charm

Yoo Joonghyuk
@SupremeKing

WoS stream now.

twitch.tv/SupremeKing

“Hyuk-ah, watch out!”

Salvation teleports to his side to kill a mob that would have taken half of his health in one hit if it had gotten any closer.

That was so hot , Yoo Joonghyuk thinks.

“Thanks.”

Salvation started running circles around him.

“You’re usually a very competent player, Hyuk-ah, but somehow I always have to save you from certain death when we play together.”

He tensed. Yoo Joonghyuk knew that he tended to let his guard down when he was playing with Salvation because he trusted the man with his life (and also watching Salvation’s reaction time and gameplay up close made something in his stomach churn - it was attractive.) He just didn’t think he was doing it so much to the point that it was noticeable and now he was being called out.

This was so embarrassing.

Salvation - Kim Dokja - thought he was incompetent. The love of his life who was also the person he was courting (not that the other man knew) thought he was inept. Maybe he should drop dead right now.

“It’s very cute. You’re like a mola.”

Mia has been playing a game titled Survive! Mola mola! lately and several times, she had barged into his room to complain about how the fish kept dying at every little thing. He was forced to install and play the game himself so he could sympathize with her little sister more.

Needless to say, he was more than a little indignant to be compared to the pathetic, ugly fish.

“I am not like a mola. A mola dies when it mistakes a plastic bag for a jellyfish, not while fighting an annoyingly overpowered boss with secret clear conditions,” he argues.

PuniUnni: i think that was the longest sentence ive ever heard him say

BlackFlame: I fear you are right, Twitch User @PuniUnni

SupremeSimp: CLIPPED POSTING ON TWT NOW

JudgeOfFire: another moment for the supreme salvation video compilation… srs tearing up rn…we’re being FED

swk4: :BisexualPride::BisexualPride::BisexualPride:

DeluDevi: CAPTAIN!!!! JIHYE JUST CHANGE YOUR GC NICKNAME TO MOLA MOLA

H2OAdmiral: U WERE LITERALLY THE ONE WHO DID THAT????

Salvation laughs that pretty wind chime laugh of his. Yoo Joonghyuk relaxes at the sound.

“I miss your cooking,” he says, obviously changing the subject, “When are you coming over and cooking for me again?”

“Are you only my companion for my cooking?” Yoo Joonghyuk replies playfully.

“Noooooo. It’s obviously because I love you.”

Yoo Joonghyuk almost combusts right then and there.

“I’m kidding,” Salvation continued hurriedly.

This man is not good for his health.

“Shut up, Salvation.” Yoo Joonghyuk’s ears and neck were positively red right now and he’s sure that the chat had noticed.

“I’m serious about you coming over, though. I can even pick you up.”

He wouldn't mind that arrangement. He would not mind that arrangement at all. In fact, he would actually really like that arrangement.

He glances at the chat and watches it go by, taking note of the new Twitch user Kkoma_41 that he suspected to be SPlotter in a new account due to how the comments were written. He’ll ban him again later but for now, he watches as his viewers freak out at Salvation’s boldness, a few congratulating him for earning a date (he huffs his chest proudly at those ones.)

“...sure,” he says after a moment of contemplation. “Let me just wrap up the stream and we can discuss the details after.”

Future Husband <3

we’re picking up my kids first
then we can go buy ingredients
dont worry i’ll pay

Okay.
Can we pick up Mia too?
She’s at xxxxx-school

oooohh
same school as my kids?
makes sense
it’s near ur place
do u think they know each other lol

Possibly.

ok u go get ready bc i will too
i’ll text u when im there
<3

<3

A wide grin strains on his face, like the surface area isn’t wide enough for it to stretch out completely, and he twirls a stray piece of hair before tucking it behind his ear.

He sends a quick text to Mia to stay put because he’s picking her up.

Kim Dokja doesn’t end up sending him a text because he was already waiting for him outside the building.

When the familiar car’s window rolled down to reveal a face Yoo Joonghyuk now intimately knows after studying Kim Dokja’s photos for hours on end, his heart does a little twirl in his chest. He kind of wants to do a little twirl too.

“Joonghyuk-ah! Hop in,” Kim Dokja shouts cheerfully.

When Yoo Joonghyuk opens the car and the smell of jasmine assaults his nose. It’s a bit overwhelming but very comforting. He takes a deep inhale and lets the floral scent fill his lungs, slowly getting accustomed and grounding himself in the scent.

“It’s nice to see you again,” Kim Dokja greets.

“It’s nice to see you too,” he replies.

It’s a bit of an understatement, really. It’s lovely to see his future husband again. Amazing. Great. Maybe the best thing to ever happen in his life.

Kim Dokja starts driving and Yoo Joonghyuk has to look away lest his body reacts… indecently to the man again. He was picking up Mia. He’d rather be completely calm and not horny when he sees his little sister.

When they get to the school, two kids approach the car parked in front of the entrance. He sees Mia still inside the school gates and opens the car door to call her.

Surprise colors her face when she spots him and she runs to him. The two kids who had been watching him with suspicion in their eyes since he left the car. One of them was awfully familiar

“Oppa!”

He meets her halfway and hugs her back when little arms encircle his neck.

“What are you doing here with Gilyoung and Yoosung’s dad?” she asks, tilting her head to the side.

“Yeah, ahjussi, why is Mia’s brother with you?” The girl he now recognizes as Shin Yoosung throws another suspicious glance at him despite her question being directed to Kim Dokja.

“Is he threatening you, hyung? Mia said that sooty bastard was in-” Lee Gilyoung gets cut off when Mia hits the back of his head.

“SHUT UP, GILYOUNG!” his sister shouts.

Lee Gilyoung looks up with teary eyes.

This is when Kim Dokja finally decides to intervene. The man clears his throat to gather all of their attention.

“Joonghyuk-ah volunteered to cook us dinner. Get in the car, kids, we’re still going to get groceries,” he says, amusement clear in his voice. Shin Yoosung and Lee Gilyoung climb into the backseat, elbowing each other as they try to squeeze as close to the driver’s seat as possible.

Mia looks between both of them like they were a puzzle that needed to be solved. Yoo Joonghyuk raises a brow at her and she gives him a cheeky, knowing grin before climbing into the backseat as well.

Yoo Joonghyuk sighs before going back into the car.

“Fasten your seatbelts,” he tells the kids while fastening his seatbelt.

“You don’t tell me what to do,” Lee Gilyoung, the only one who didn’t fasten his seatbelt, protests.

“Gilyoung…” Kim Dokja warns.

“Yes, hyung!” Gilyoung fastens his seatbelt.

Kim Dokja is such a dad. A dad he’d like to fuck. A DILF, perhaps.

After being glared at by a little boy for far too long as the two girls talked at the back, Yoo Joonghyuk was more than ready to leave the car. Maybe take Kim Dokja with him on a date to First Murim where he can hand feed the man dumplings. That would be better than being glared at.

Yoo Joonghyuk let out a sigh of relief when the car was finally parked outside the grocery store.

They all entered together, Kim Dokja holding both of his kids hands and Yoo Joonghyuk holding Mia’s.

“Is there anything in particular you’d like to have for dinner?” he asks.

Kim Dokja and Mia both tell him that whatever he cooks is delicious (he preens a bit at the praise) and Shin Yoosung says she doesn’t mind.

“I want fried chicken,” interrupts Lee Gilyoung’s petulant voice.

Yoo Joonghyuk nods at the demand before heading to the deli aisle to find chicken.

The kids ran off with Kim Dokja to explore the grocery more while he examined the quality of the chicken.

When they meet up again, the three kids are each holding a different snack in their hands. Mia held a bag of gummy bears, Shin Yoosung had a bag of animal marshmallows and Lee Gilyoung had what looked like a weird insect-shaped candy. Kim Dokja avoids his eyes.

He sighs.

“You’ll spoil your appetite if you eat that,” he reprimands.

“They’ll eat it as dessert,” Kim Dokja replies, nervously chuckling.

He narrows his eyes at the man.

When it’s his turn to check out, the bagger tells him that it must be nice to have such a big, lively family while looking in the direction where Kim Dokja and the kids were waiting for him.

Something in his brain short circuits at the implication. Did they look like a family right now? Did he and Kim Dokja look like a married couple? With kids?

He flashes a small smile at the bagger, something soft and warm bubbling in his chest.

“It is,” he says instead of denying the misunderstanding.

Biyoo greets them when they arrive.

Mia is absolutely mesmerized by the little ball of fur purring against her leg and Shin Yoosung looks at them in awe.

“Ahjussi! Biyoo likes Mia,” she states excitedly.

“Biyoo likes Joonghyuk-ah too.” He pats her head with his free hand. “Maybe the Yoo family has some sort of special catnip attributes.”

Yoo Joonghyuk rolls his eyes fondly at the man.

“Mia, let’s go see Titano!” Lee Gilyoung tugs at Mia’s arms.

“No, Titano is gross,” Shin Yoosung argues, “You’ll scare Mia!”

“I don’t get scared.” Mia’s brows furrowed.

The three of them bicker as Lee Gilyoung leads Mia to one of the many rooms in Kim Dokja’s house and Shin Yoosung tries to stop them. Biyoo chases at their heels before they all pause so Mia can carry the cat in her arms. They go upstairs.

Yoo Joonghyuk watches Kim Dokja watch the scene, fondness brimming in the man’s starry eyes.

How domestic.

“Well, Joonghyuk-ah, it seems like it’s just us two now.” His eyes sparkle with mischief. “What ever shall we do?”

Yoo Joonghyuk gulps.

That’s how they find themselves in the kitchen.

Cooking. Just cooking. And not whatever activities Yoo Joonghyuk had in mind when they’d been left alone.

It’s a very heartwarming activity, albeit a bit disappointing compared to his very vivid imagination of Kim Dokja sprawled on the kitchen isle, his clothing disheveled as Yoo Joonghyuk kisses him breathless.

Oh well.

Cooking with Kim Dokja isn’t that bad. He can settle.

Kim Dokja is… average at cooking.

Just good enough that he can be trusted with making the marinade with careful instructions.

They work together, cooperating as easily as they did when gaming. He didn’t need help, really. Fried chicken is easy to make and it would probably be faster if he didn’t have to guide another person around. He could just let Kim Dokja sit down and watch as he expertly weaves through the kitchen.

He can’t bring himself to when he sees the content smile on his future husband’s face.

When the chicken is cooked with perfect crispy, golden skin, Kim Dokja goes up to call the kids for dinner while Yoo Joonghyuk sets the table.

He hears little feet running down the stairs and Kim Dokja’s warning to slow down.

He hides the smile on his face when they start trickling into the dining room but the fondness in his eyes are easy to decipher.

Mia looks at him knowingly, his expression familiar to her, one that she sees in the quiet moments in the kitchen when the feeling of being home encompassed his entire being. He wonders if she’d like to have this permanently as much as he does. A little voice in his head tells him yes.

They start eating and he watches as the kids bicker, with Kim Dokja sometimes being dragged into the conversation. The man, in turn, asks for Yoo Joonghyuk’s opinions, forcing him to participate.

Cheeky bastard. He’s lucky he loves him.

By the end of dinner, Yoo Joonghyuk has earned Lee Gilyoung’s reluctant approval and the kids are too full to eat the snacks they bought earlier.

“Oppa, can I play with Gilyoung and Yoosung more?” Mia looks up at him with pleading eyes.

“Well…” he contemplates.

“Let them play, Joonghyuk-ah. It’s Friday. They can stay up a bit late,” Kim Dokja interrupts.

He didn’t need to say anything. He was going to let Mia play more so he can stay with his future husband for a bit longer, but he supposes Kim Dokja didn’t know that. He nods at Mia in consent.

“Thanks, oppa! And ahjussi! You’re the best.”

The three once again disappear upstairs.

“I have no idea where they get their energy.”

“Mia didn’t really have friends before,” Yoo Joonghyuk starts, “I suppose I’ll have to thank you for that.”

Kim Dokja snorts as he starts picking up the dishes.

“Gilyoung and Yoosung did that themselves. I didn’t lift a finger for them to befriend your little sister.”

Kim Dokja starts disposing of the chicken bones and Yoo Joonghyuk approaches to help him.

“You raised them well,” he says, observing as Kim Dokja’s cheeks flushed red.

“They were already like that when I first found them,” he replies. “They’re good kids.”

Yoo Joonghyuk stares a bit more.

“I can wash the dishes,” he volunteers, trying to shoo the other man away.

His hand is lightly slapped in return before Kim Dokja opens what looked to be a dishwasher.

“No one is washing the dishes,” he says smugly.

He then flicks his fingers at the man’s forehead, completely ruining the moment.

“Ow! What was that for?” Kim Dokja asks indignantly, clutching his forehead in pain.

“It’s revenge for slapping my hand, Dokja-yah.” He sticks his tongue out at the man, throwing away his maturity.

“You sunfish bastard!” The smaller one calls out as he leaves the kitchen to sit in the living room.

Kim Dokja settles beside him.

They spend a few minutes in comfortable silence, not really doing anything.

"You did really good in the tournament," he says.

Yoo Joonghyuk grunts in response.

"Sorry I didn't respond to your texts at that time. My parents kept trying to set me up with people," he chuckles.

A nerve tenses in Yoo Joonghyuk’s forehead. Kim Dokja was his.

"Set you up?" he says carefully, "Why would you need that?"

"They’re worried that I'll end up alone. I'm already 28 and still unmarried. Their marriage was arranged and they swear they'll find me a good spouse," he answers, "They have good intentions but I feel sorry for the ones they introduced me to. I'm not really much."

Kim Dokja's parents did not need to do anything. Yoo Joonghyuk is the one who'll marry their child and he'll make the man so happy that their marriage completely outshines all marriages.

There were more pressing matters at hand, though.

"What do you mean you aren't much?" he asks, voice low.

"Well, I'm just Dokja. All I am is a reader and, well, I'm just not much I guess."

Yoo Joonghyuk shifts so that his eyes meet Kim Dokja's and something in the atmosphere shifts . It's like the ozone thickens at the intensity of his gaze and Kim Dokja’s breath hitches.

"You're perfect. You're more than just a reader. You're a loving father and from what I can tell, you're a good friend. You're an infuriating man who can't take care of himself but somehow manages to survive and take care of others. Your love tends to overflow and spill on the people around you but somehow you never keep any for yourself," he lists down, "And you're my companion. That alone makes you so much."

They stare at each other for a few more minutes and he tries so hard to convey with just his eyes alone that he loves Kim Dokja, that the man is more than anybody else in the world will ever be. He wonders if he gets through him. He wonders if he didn’t even when he spilled his heart out, his own love pouring and pouring.

Kim Dokja snaps out of the trance, body jolting as red creeps up his face once more.

"Let's go check on the children."

He watches as the man hurries away from him like a startled rabbit.

Yoo Joonghyuk watches him disappear up the stairs.

He follows.

The room the kids were in had glow-in-the-dark stars in the skies, its room painted with various animal and insect murals. There's a shelf filled with books on animals and insects and a tank containing a giant praying mantis. A PC setup sits on one of the corners of the room. In the middle of the room is a large bed, with the kids laying on it.

Mia was sleeping soundly between Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung, who were also fast asleep. They were using Mia's arms as pillows. Lee Gilyoung had an arm across her stomach and Shin Yoosung was nuzzled into the crook of her neck.

"They look like siblings," Kim Dokja coos at the sight.

"We'll stay over."

Kim Dokja’s head snaps to face him, looking away when he accidentally meets Yoo Joonghyuk’s eyes.

"Okay. I'll show you to the guest room," he says slowly.

Yoo Joonghyuk nods and Kim Dokja leads him to a room on the other side of the hall.

It's a bedroom with similar motifs as the rest of the house, black walls and golden embellishments scattered around. There's a queen-sized bed in the middle and a night stand with a lamp. There's a door beside the head of the bed. A large window covered with golden curtains sits at the wall opposite of the door. Other than that, the room was mostly empty.

"Would you like something to change into? The bathroom should be fully stocked with what you need for the night," Kim Dokja informs him.

He grunts out a response and watches him leave the room and listens to the footsteps slowly fade away.

Yoo Joonghyuk breathes.

The room doesn't have the same jasmine scent that lingered in most of the house. Kim Dokja didn’t spend a lot of time here, then. Instead of the floral scent, the room smelled like vanilla.

He sees a few vanilla candles on the nightstand. Two of them had been used. Is this where Kim Dokja's friends would usually sleep in when they stayed over? He wonders if the other doors lead to rooms as extravagant as this. He wouldn't be surprised. His future husband's house was a lot bigger than his two bedroom apartment.

It must be a pain to keep clean but he wouldn't be surprised if there was a housecleaner who comes by every week. There were definitely a housecleaners who visited regularly. He doubts Kim Dokja has the physical prowess to keep a mansion this size dust-free and he doesn't think the man even knew how to keep a household clean.

He lies down on the bed, feeling the black silk sheet slide against his skin. It's comfortable. More comfortable than anywhere he's ever slept on before.

The bedsheets smelled freshly washed.

He wonders if it would stain if Kim Dokja's cum spilled on it, wonders if it'll absorb the scent of their sweat. He wonders if perhaps, the smell of sex could overpower the scent of vanilla, if Kim Dokja's moans would be heard from outside the room.

His wondering is interrupted by the door opening, Kim Dokja walking in with sweatpants and an oversized shirt. It looks like it would fit Yoo Joonghyuk… decently. It might be a bit tight.

"Here." He hands him the clothing. "I couldn't find anything bigger. Sorry about that."

There's an awkward silence as Kim Dokja still hasn't let go of the clothes. Yoo Joonghyuk pointedly glances at his hand and Kim Dokja lets go like he was burned.

"I'll go now- good night, Joonghyuk-ah," he says, scurrying off.

Except, Yoo Joonghyuk grabs his wrist. He doesn't know why he does it but he did. Kim Dokja's skin is warm under his fingers, the thumping of his heartbeat going fast.

"Joonghyuk-ah?"

"Kim Dokja."

Yoo Joonghyuk didn't really think this far. He's never touched Kim Dokja for so long before, except for the occasional brush of skin. His heart feels like it’s going to burst into his chest.

He wants to pull the man into his arms. Hug him, hold him, keep him. Yet, he can't bring himself to do anything else.

Surprisingly, Kim Dokja moves.

He plants a firm kiss on Yoo Joonghyuk’s lips and his shock from the action makes him let go, leaving Kim Dokja free to run away.

He lets him go this time, his emotions too much of a mess to do anything else.

They kissed.

Yoo Joonghyuk stares at empty air in a daze, the thought repeating over and over in his mind. He touches his lips softly, remembering the warmth that was there just mere seconds ago.

They kissed.

They kissed.

They kissed.

Salvation kissed him.

Kim Dokja kissed him.

He bites his hand to prevent the squeal that wants so badly to erupt from him.

He shakily locks the door and lies down on the bed, putting the clothes he was lent beside him. It smelled like jasmine.

The little problem he got from earlier's bouts of imagination has grown harder due to recent events.

He unzips his pants and pull down his underwear, his cock springing up in its full glory.

He plays with it a bit, starting slow. He thinks of Kim Dokja, thinks of pale white skin flushed red and warm, soft pink lips hung open as a moan slips out.

Pre-cum trickles from the tip of the head and he gently spreads it on his length, gasping at the sensation.

Kim Dokja would look so, so pretty with his lips – lips that had been on him – around the wide, veiny girth of his cock. His starry eyes would become teary from trying to take all of Yoo Joonghyuk in and Yoo Joonghyuk would shush him, tell him he's doing so good.

He thinks of Kim Dokja telling him the same as he takes in the man's cock in his mouth, sucking it with enthusiasm and holding Kim Dokja's thighs down as the man trembles and mewls from the pleasure and a warm bitterness filling his mouth.

He pumps the length faster, biting his lips to keep the erotic sounds from escaping out his mouth. Something tense builds up in his stomach as he hastens.

Would Kim Dokja let him have his way with him? Or will he be more dominant? Will he find a way to make Yoo Joonghyuk thrash under him even with his bigger build? Yoo Joonghyuk would submit to Kim Dokja easily, he thinks. He'd let the man ride him, use his cock as nothing more but a dildo – anything as long as it pleased Kim Dokja.

He wants to breed the smaller man, wants to leave his mark in and out of his body. He wants to fill Kim Dokja up until all he can think about is Yoo Joonghyuk.

He wants Kim Dokja to mark him too. He wants to be owned by Kim Dokja. He wants Kim Dokja to claim him and call him his .

He wants Kim Dokja.

He grabs the clothes he was lent, pressing it to his face. Its fabric was soft and worn out. He imagines Kim Dokja wearing it, his shoulder and collar bone peaking from the large neckline of the shirt.

His hips thrust into his palm as he cums to the smell of jasmine filling his lungs, the scent reminding him of home and love and desire.

His semen splatters onto the silk sheets and he pants, trying to catch his breath as he comes down from the orgasm high.

The white liquid is stark white against the black sheets.

He wonders if it will stain.

A few days ago…

"What's our Dokja-yah watching?"

Persephone walks to where he was crouched down with his phone in hand.

"I made a friend and he's streaming right now." He tilts his phone so his adoptive mother could take a better look.

Persephone gasps when her eyes land on the corner of the stream featuring Yoo Joonghyuk's facecam.

"Oh my! What a pretty face." She nudges at him teasingly. "Is this why you've said no to everyone we've introduced you to?"

He shakes his head in denial.

"Our relationship… isn't like that."

"Well," she starts mischievously, "You were certainly absorbed with watching him. I thought you were reading another one of your webnovels."

He looks at streamer's face.

"I don't think I have a chance," he whispers.

Persephone rubs his back, comforting him.

"Why don't you send a donation, then? Say hi. There's no way my Dokja-yah hasn't caught his eye at all," she encourages.

He thinks about it, finger hovering on the link that will lead to the donation page. Eventually, he taps the link and sends a small sum of money and a short message.

When his donation comes through, Yoo Joonghyuk visibly freezes. Kim Dokja catches a hint of red on the man's ears and watches as chat welcomes him and teases the streamer at the same time. He responds to someone asking him how he was in chat before refocusing on Yoo Joonghyuk’s face.

"I think you have more of a chance than you think, Dokja-yah," Persephone says, mirth clear in her voice.

Kim Dokja stares a bit longer at the most beautiful man he knows. He'd seen wrong. He swears his eyes were playing tricks on him.

Persephone looks at him knowingly.

"We'll stop finding you a fiancé if you at least tell him how you feel."

He looks up at her.

"And how exactly do I feel?" he asks.

Persephone chuckles before ruffling his hair.

"You're not that much of a fool, Dokja-yah. You have a crush on him," she points out, "You should make a move. He won't be able to resist your charms. After all, you take after your mother and she certainly swept me and your father off our feet."

"Mother!" He gasps scandalously.

Persephone leaves and he goes back to watching the stream.

Yoo Joonghyuk is a handsome bastard. He cooks well and he listens to Kim Dokja. He's a soft man despite his outer appearance and demeanor. He's stubborn and he responds to Kim Dokja’s bickering and taunts without getting too annoyed.

He did not have a crush on Yoo Joonghyuk. He just found the man slightly attractive. Just slightly. Nothing serious.

As he watches Yoo Joonghyuk absolutely slaughter his opponents, he wonders what he should do next.

He remembers the cute abashed look on the usually stoic man's face.

He'd really prefer not to meet more prospective love interests.

Chapter 7

Summary:

“You’re finally done ignoring me?”

“Well,” Kim Dokja takes a seat, “It’s hard when you’ve been glaring at me to death. Did you hate my kiss that much?”

How dare he call Yoo Joonghyuk’s loving and affectionate gaze glaring. Foolishly oblivious is apparently Kim Dokja’s true name. Yoo Joonghyuk wants to kiss him.

“The opposite, actually. I’d like it if you kissed me again.” He looks into Kim Dokja’s eyes.

Chapter Text

They don’t talk about it in the morning.

Kim Dokja resolutely ignores him and he in turn ignores the little glances he feels the man of his dreams throws at him. Frankly, Yoo Joonghyuk doesn’t think he can look at Kim Dokja without remembering the things he made up in his mind last night.

The kitchen smelled like pancakes. Yoo Joonghyuk flips one, his body moving automatically at the practiced movements. He’d rather think of making breakfast instead of the lingering tension from the events of the night before.

Thankfully, after their awkward bumping in on their way to the ground floor, Kim Dokja had chosen to stay with the kids instead of accompanying Yoo Joonghyuk in the kitchen. They both hadn’t spoken a word to each other, their minds obviously weighed down by last night’s transpirations. Though, admittedly, Yoo Joonghyuk had been thinking about more than just the kiss.

The post-nut clarity had hit him rather hard and he’d scrambled to clean up his released fluids as fast as he could before it left a visible stain on the expensive bed sheets. To his luck, It had come off rather quickly and he’d stepped into the shower after to clean himself up.

It wasn’t the first time he had masturbated while thinking of Kim Dokja. He’d done it when he still knew the man solely as Salvation and he’d done it on the night of the first day they’d met. The latter had involved a lot of car sex fantasies while the former was done with his well-loved pink dildo half of the time. All of it was done in the locked safety of his room, though, and not in the object of his desire’s home.

A burning smell catches his attention and he looks down to see a smoking pancake on the pan. He hurriedly places it into a plate and pours another batch of batter into the pan. Fabric strains against his skin as he moves.

He’s wearing the shirt Kim Dokja lent to him. It fits but the chest area is a bit tight and it hugs his pecs. The outline of his nipple is stark against the worn fabric.

Kim Dokja had accidentally glanced at it earlier after shyly looking away from his eyes. The man had somehow flushed a brighter red. He looked like a very ripe tomato. It was adorable.

When the pancake is finally finished, he puts it on top of the dangerously wobbling stack and turns off the stove. The pancakes are distributed onto five plates, the slightly burnt one hidden under the stack on a plate he’ll claim for himself. He sets the plates on a tray and carries the food to the dinner table. Mindlessly, he arranges them and places the glasses and utensils beside each one.

Yoo Joonghyuk walks to the doorway of the dining room and living room. He sees Kim Dokja and the kids on the couch. Kim Dokja sits in the middle of the couch and both Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung’s heads are on his lap, lying on opposite sides of the couch. Mia is on top of Shin Yoosung, her head on the other girl’s chest.

It’s a tight fit on the couch but they look comfortable. It’s almost a shame that he had to disturb their peace.

“Breakfast is ready.”

The sound of his voice breaks the silence and Kim Dokja’s starry eyes are revealed as they snap open. He looks towards the source of the sound. Their eyes meet and the man looks away again.

“Gilyoung-ah, Yoosung-ah, it’s time for breakfast.” He shakes the kids awake and the little ones both stretch their arms at the same time. Shin Yoosung’s actions jostle Mia enough for her to stir awake.

The kids start slowly waking up. Mia rolls off Shin Yoosung and starts heading to the dining room. Yoo Joonghyuk ruffles her hair when she passes by him and she weakly swats his hand away.

Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung sat up at the same time and rubbed sleep out of their eyes. At the same time. It was getting a bit creepy how in sync the two were. Their synchronization is blessedly halted when Shin Yoosung stands up first and follows the scent of the pancakes before sitting next to where Mia already was. Lee Gilyoung, however, whines in protest and throws his torso over Kim Dokja’s lap and clings to the man like he’s trying to seep in all of his warmth. Kim Dokja simply laughs at the boy’s antics before lifting his limp body into his lap and proceeding to carry Lee Gilyoung to the dining room.

“What am I gonna do with you,” he chuckles fondly as he adjusts his hold on Lee Gilyoung.

That was… really hot. So DILFy. Yoo Joonghyuk had never seen Kim Dokja in anything but baggy clothes so he’d always assumed that the man was virtually a stick under all of the soft cotton sweaters. He was obviously wrong. Kim Dokja definitely worked out at least a little. When and where he did, Yoo Joonghyuk had no clue but he wouldn’t be surprised if the mansion had a gym somewhere.

Their arms brush against each other as Kim Dokja passes by him in the doorway and Yoo Joonghyuk gulps. When everyone else has finally settled into their seats, Yoo Joonghyuk finally takes his place next to Lee Gilyoung and across Mia.

Kim Dokja was at the head of the table with Shin Yoosung on his right side and Lee Gilyoung on his left. Mia was sitting beside the other girl.

They start eating in silence, partly due to the fact that the kids weren't fully awake yet and partly due to the lingering tension between Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk.

"Honey?" comes Kim Dokja's voice.

"Yes?" he responds automatically.

He feels warmth creep up his neck when he realizes that Kim Dokja wasn't calling him. In his defense, he'd thought of the man calling him honey and many other pet names when he'd daydream about the future where they were married. With their 15 kids, of course.

Yoo Joonghyuk awkwardly passes over the bottle of honey. Kim Dokja's eyes wander to his chest again and when the man finally reaches out for the honey bottle, their fingers brush against each other. The reader practically snatches the bottle away from Yoo Joonghyuk and pours over half of it on his plate.

He can't help but cringe a bit as he sees the syrupy liquid practically flood the plate. The pancakes sag sadly. Kim Dokja looked more than content while looking at the tragedy he'd created, though.

"Hyung," Lee Gilyoung says, sounding a bit more awake, "Can we go to the park with Mia?"

"I'm sorry, Gilyoung-ah, but I don't wanna trouble Joonghyuk-ssi more," Kim Dokja replies.

Joonghyuk-ssi? What happened to Joonghyuk-ah? Yoo Joonghyuk is going to kill himself.

"Can we still go, though?" Shin Yoosung asks.

"But I wanna go to the park too." Mia pouts at him, her eyes widened and teary.

Yoo Joonghyuk sighs but mentally finds himself thanking Mia for the opportunity to spend more time with his future husband slash her future brother-in-law.

"We're dropping by the apartment to bathe first." He declares.

"Thanks, oppa!" Mia exclaims excitedly.

Kim Dokja opens his mouth to protest, however, the look of happiness on the kids' faces makes him shut it abruptly.

A small smirk blooms on Yoo Joonghyuk’s face and he smugly huffs at Kim Dokja. The man glares at him, annoyed. He grabs the honey and empties it on his plate. A little trickles at the side and down the table.

He scoops a spoonful and sips on it like its soup. The horrific scene has Yoo Joonghyuk captivated with disgust. It was like watching a car crash in motion.

He feels a bit like throwing up, honestly.

He does not throw up. Instead, he finds himself sitting on the couch with Mia sitting across from him.

Their current positions fill him with anxiety. He really hopes there are no condoms involved in this conversation.

"Are you in love with Yoosung and Gilyoung's dad?" She goes straight to the point.

Yoo Joonghyuk nods readily. He would have answered the same if Kim Dokja and his kids weren't busy getting ready in their personal rooms.

"He likes you," she informs him. Well, he already knew that; the man kissed him.

Mia's face contorts into an expression of conflict.

"He's not good enough for my oppa…"

"Mia," Yoo Joonghyuk scolds, "That's not something that you can decide."

"But, oppa! You’re way too good for him!" Mia argues. "No one can match you… you're the best and you need to be someone you really love."

Mia's eyes tear up and Yoo Joonghyuk feels his heart ache a little. He beckons her over and she comes hurtling into his arms. He pets her hair as she sobs, her tears soaking into his shirt.

"Mia-yah, he makes me happy," he explains, "Give him a chance. Besides, wouldn't you like to see your friends everyday?"

"Oppa would let me see them everyday, anyway!" she sobs out, "Because oppa is the best! That ugly ahjussi isn't good enough for you! He probably cursed you. Or used a love potion. Oppa never would have looked at him otherwise."

He pats her hair a bit longer, lost in thought. His little sister had always taken after him, or at least that's what he thought. Black hair, underlying molten gold in their eyes and a tendency of being too direct; Mia was almost a carbon copy of him, but more expressive. Mia enjoyed the time they all spent together yesterday, so he never really thought this would be an issue.

“Can you talk to Seolhwa-unni first? She can fix you,” she pleads.

“What?” His body freezes in surprise.

Lee Seolhwa was a close friend. They’d dated for a very brief period of time and had mutually decided that it felt wrong and broke it off. Mia had been ecstatic when she first saw them kiss but had only been slightly disappointed when he gently broke it to her that they’d broken up. He knew that Mia hadn’t been particularly hung up on their break up. Was his little sister homophobic?

“Is it because he’s a man?” he asks slowly.

She shakes her head in response.

“No! It’s because you’ve been acting weird!” she whines.

Weird? He’d been acting pretty normal. Relatively normal.

“How have I been acting weird?”

Mia sniffles.

“I hear you giggling in your room a lot. And you keep humming when you cook. You’ve never done that before.” Her little hands grip the fabric of his shirt. Frankly, the tightness was getting a bit uncomfortable but he made no moves to make her let go. “That ahjussi cast a spell on you.”

Well, this was a bit embarrassing. He supposes that the humming had been a bit odd but their rooms were supposed to be soundproof. How did Mia hear him giggling? Color drains from his face at the implication that their soundproofing wasn’t working.

“Did you hear anything else from my room?” he inquired gravely.

Mia tilts her head curiously. “Sometimes, you talk to yourself.”

Yoo Joonghyuk sighs in relief.

“I’m sorry I worried you, darling.” He shushes her. “People just… act differently when we’re in love, I suppose.”

“So, you’re just really in love with him?”

“I am,” Yoo Joonghyuk declares.

“Okay.” Mia wraps her arms around his neck. “Okay…” she repeats. her voice barely a whisper.

Once Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung come down in a new set of clothes and still wet hair, Mia carefully removes herself from their hug to meet her friends halfway.

Shin Yoosung runs at the sight of her and halts to cradle Mia’s face in her small hands.

“Mia, were you crying?”

Lee Gilyoung’s head swerves to look at Mia’s puffy, red eyes and he turns to look at Yoo Joonghyuk furiously.

“Oi! You sooty bastard! Why’d you make Mia cry, huh? I’ll kill you.” he growls. His body moves to cover the two girls. Shin Yoosung fussed over Mia, trying to figure out exactly why she cried.

Yoo Joonghyuk only raises a brow in response. He’d never make his little sister cry.

“Oppa didn’t make me cry!” Mia rises to defend him. “I didn’t cry. I’m a big girl!”

“Big girls are allowed to cry,” Shin Yoosung scolds, “Even adults cry sometimes!”

“I’m better than adults then.” Mia pouts petulantly.

“You’re not better than hyung,” Lee Gilyoung argues, turning to face the other two.

The three quickly get lost in their own argument, Yoo Joonghyuk forgotten in the background.

Kim Dokja comes down a solid one and a half hour from the time he’d disappear to take a bath. His reappearance is accompanied by the sudden saturation of a jasmine scent in the air and Biyoo’s soft purring.

Biyoo hops on Yoo Joonghyuk’s lap and stretches before curling up. He runs his fingers through her fur.

“You’re slow,” he tells him, “What were you doing up there?”

“Hyung isn’t slow!” Lee Gilyoung defends his adoptive soon-to-be father. “That was the fastest he’d gotten out of the shower.”

This does not produce the effect the boy had planned on eliciting. Yoo Joonghyuk stares at Kim Dokja with the most unimpressed look he can manage.

“It’s good to take your time when showering. It helps you relax but you won’t know anything about that, would you, Joonghyuk-ssi?”

“Why don’t you accompany me while I shower and teach me then, Dokja-yah?” He purposefully keeps his voice low and raspy.

Red comes back in full force in the face of one Kim Dokja and if Yoo Joonghyuk didn’t stop, he was half-sure that the poor man would faint from the blood running up his cheeks.

“There are children here!” he chastised.

Soft stomping is heard as Mia marches in front of Kim Dokja. Biyoo shifts in his lap.

“I don’t like you,” she declares.

Twin gasps are heard and Kim Dokja’s jaw dropped open, his eyes widened and confused. Truthfully, Yoo Joonghyuk was too. Didn’t they just have a whole conversation about this?

“But!” she continues, “You make oppa happy so I’m giving you a chance. Don’t make him sad.”

Children are enigmas.

Kim Dokja continues to just stand, rooted to the ground, clearly still unsure what to say.

Yoo Joonghyuk really couldn’t blame him.

Biyoo meows.

The drive home isn’t quiet, what with Shin Yoosung and Lee Gilyoung trying to convince Mia that she should at least like their beloved Kim Dokja. The front seats were a stark contrast, with Kim Dokja’s hand gripping the steering wheel like his life depended on it and Yoo Joonghyuk unabashedly staring at him.

When they’re finally inside his apartment, Shin Yoosung asks if they have a pet.

“Our apartment doesn’t let us have pets,” Mia answers sadly.

“Maybe you can keep one in hyung’s house! My aunt didn’t want Titano in the house so I keep him in hyung’s house and he takes care of Titano,” Lee Gilyoung interrupts, “See? Hyung’s great!”

Mia grumbles out something incoherent.

“Mia, do you wanna use the bathroom first or do you want me to go first?” he asks while he takes off his shoes.

“I’ll go first,” she replies, bounding across the apartment.

“Don’t run.”

“Yes, oppa!” she shouts, still running. “Yoosung! Gilyoung! Come see my room.”

Yoo Joonghyuk massaged his temples.

“Kids, right?” Kim Dokja chuckles as he watches his children go after Mia.

The stars in his pupils are swirling. He can get lost in them, he thinks. Kim Dokja’s own personal galaxy.

“You’re rather forward aren’t you, Joonghyuk-ssi?” the starry-eyed man asks, teasing and breathless at the same time.

Yoo Joonghyuk frowns, brows furrowing closer.

“Stop calling me that.”

“Oh? Alright, Yoo Joonghyuk.” Disappointment tinged his voice bitterly.

Silly. Silly, foolish Kim Dokja.

“Call me Joonghyuk-ah again. Or Hyuk-ah,” Yoo Joonghyuk demands.

“Do you say this to anyone who shows interest in you?” He nervously chuckles.

“No,” Yoo Joonghyuk admits. “Just you.”

“For how long?”

“Since I first met you.” he confesses.

He brings their faces closer together, his hand touching Kim Dokja’s cheek. Their breaths mingle, minty and the scent of pancakes meet to create something beautiful. If he tips his head over just a little bit, their lips would meet again. Maybe he’ll get more than just a quick peck this time. Maybe he can finally taste Kim Dokja, taste Salvation. He wonders if the man will taste like flowers.

“Oppa! I’m done.”

He’s pushed away abruptly. The back of his head hits the armrest of the couch and he hisses a bit at the force he was thrown back.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” Kim Dokja tries to help him sit back up but Mia rushes over and helps him before the perpetrator of his injury could.

“Why did you try to kill my oppa!?” Mia loudly accuses. “I knew you weren’t good for him… Oppa, are you okay? Do I need to call Seolhwa-unni?”

Yoo Joonghyuk rubs the back of his head. “It’s okay, Mia, it was just an accident.”

“Yeah, it was!” Kim Dokja defends himself.

“But-”

“I’m fine, Mia. I’ll go get ready now so you can go to the park.”

Mia peers at him with a wet sheen now present in her eyes. “Can I kiss the pain away, please?”

Yoo Joonghyuk smiles fondly at her and kneels down so she can kiss the spot that hurts.

“Did the pain go away?” she asks worriedly.

“Yes, darling, it’s all better now.”

Kim Dokja watched the scene with an unreadable emotion on his face.

“Where are the kids?” Yoo Joonghyuk asks as he steps out of the bathroom, a towel haphazardly tied around his hips.

Kim Dokja doesn’t respond. His eyes trace the outline of Yoo Joonghyuk’s body. Water drips down from his hair. It travels down the defined crevices of his abs, until it’s soaked up by his towel.

He watches Kim Dokja’s focused gaze and shivers, knowing that it was Salvation looking at him so hungrily.

“Do you like what you see?”

The eyes trained on his body flutter up to meet his.

“The kids are in Mia’s room,” Kim Dokja finally answers.

“Would you like to come to mine?” he teases.

A pillow is thrown in his face in response. Rude.

“GET CHANGED!” Kim Dokja screeches.

The kids run around in the park and the two adults sit together on a bench, overlooking the three.

“How’s the custody papers going?”

Humming softly in thought, Kim Dokja shifts to sit closer. “It’s been going well. The foster agency works things out quickly. The current homes they’re staying in treat them well but I’d rather they stay with me.”

“I see…”

Truthfully, Yoo Joonghyuk knew little about how foster homes worked. His acquiring of the knowledge he holds about fostering isn’t something he’s proud of. He’d briefly considered giving Mia up when she first showed up at his door. He’s glad he didn’t.

“I’ll drop you off at your apartment so you can have lunch with Mia.”

Yoo Joonghyuk pauses at that.

“Do you not want to have lunch with us?”

“I don’t want to intrude,” Kim Dokja explains, “And I have to take Yoosung and Gilyoung back.”

He reaches out for the man’s hand and squeezes it tightly.

“Stay,” he pleads softly.

Kim Dokja never gets to answer as their conversation is interrupted by a shout.

“Dokja!”

A woman he vaguely recognizes and a man he definitely knows run towards where they were sitting. Kim Dokja tries to pull his hand away but Yoo Joonghyuk only holds it tighter.

Lee Hyunsung somehow didn’t look surprised when he saw him but his eyebrows did raise at the sight of their hands. The woman, who he now recognizes as the bartender from the bar Han Sooyoung dragged him to, assesses him from head to toe.

“Dokja, are you being harassed?” She asks, slowly creeping a hand around Kim Dokja’s shoulder. She looked ready to snatch the man away from him.

Yoo Joonghyuk growled at her and pulled Kim Dokja closer to his chest. This only served to make her wariness skyrocket and she pulled Kim Dokja back towards her. Kim Dokja tried to explain the situation, but he was too busy being used as a tug rope.

Their impromptu game of tug of war halts when Lee Hyunsung gently pats the bartender’s shoulder to get her attention.

“Heewon-ah, please let go of Dokja-ssi. He doesn’t look very comfortable right now.” Jung Heewon promptly lets go of Kim Dokja and he hurdles straight into Yoo Joonghyuk’s waiting arms. Lee Hyunsung holds Jung Heewon back when she starts to lurch forward again, possibly to try and take Kim Dokja back. “That’s my captain. You met him back in Underworld when Han Sooyoung brought him. He won’t do anything to Dokja-ssi.”

Now, how did Lee Hyunsung know Kim Dokja? Why were they on first name bases? This is sickening.

“Dokja, this guy isn’t harassing you at all? Not even a little bit?” Jung Heewon glared at Yoo Joonghyuk like he was the most suspicious piece of shit she’d ever seen.

“No! Not at all; Joonghyuk-ah came to the park with me so we can watch over the kids,” Kim Dokja hurriedly explains.

“You’re disturbing us,” Yoo Joonghyuk snapped, “Leave.”

This riles up the evidently volatile woman again and she tries to attack him. Thankfully, the kids come running back in time and she composes herself at their appearance.

“Oppa! I’m hungry,” Mia declares as Shin Yoosung and Lee Gilyoung run into Jung Heewon’s arms.

“Heewon-unni!”

“Heewon-noona!”

“Hello, you brats.” She pats their hair. “Has Dokja been taking care of you?”

Shin Yoosung nods in confirmation and Lee Gilyoung lets out an enthusiastic ‘Yeah!’

“Oppa,” Mia whines, “Food.”

“Hi, Mia-yah,” greets Lee Hyunsung.

“Hyunsung-oppa, I’m hungry,” she turns her pout at the man.

“Should I take you home now?” Kim Dokja starts to stand up and stretch. “You and your brother can eat at your house.”

Mia shakes her head. “I wanna eat with Yoosung and Gilyoung.”

Yoo Joonghyuk sends Kim Dokja the most condescending smug look he can muster. He’s not letting Kim Dokja go so easily.

“Ah.” The man stops mid-stretch. “Would you like to eat out then?”

“Captain doesn’t like eating out,” Lee Hyunsung informs him.

“I don’t eat food made by other people,” he confirms.

Kim Dokja squints down at him. “Picky sunfish bastard.”

“Oppa likes eating at First Murim,” Mia says, “He takes us there on his birthdays!”

First Murim made good dumplings and the owner had hired him when he was at the lowest point of his life, still establishing his presence in the gaming industry and having a child left on his front doorstep for him to raise. His preference for the restaurant was clearly justified.

“Would you like to come with Hyunsung-ssi? It’s almost lunch after all.” Kim Dokja finishes his stretching. His back makes a little popping sound and he groans like an old man.

“Me and Heewon were discussing where to eat for lunch already so we might as well,” Lee Hyunsung chuckles, “Besides, I think she missed you quite a bit, Dokja-ssi. You haven’t been visiting the bar or going out at all lately!” He scolds.

“Ah, yeah, sorry about that…”

Mia gives Kim Dokja a judgemental look. If Yoo Joonghyuk had to hazard a guess, she was probably thinking something along the lines of: ‘ Oppa likes this shut-in of an ahjussi,’ but he’d like to think that she’s finally considering that he was worthy for Yoo Joonghyuk.

The kids are all gathered back into the car and Yoo Joonghyuk watches Lee Hyunsung and Jung Heewon head toward a motorcycle. He was a bit confused because he knew that Lee Hyunsung didn’t own a motorcycle but today had been a day of revelations and perhaps, he shouldn’t be surprised. Jung Heewon gets on the motorcycle first and suddenly everything makes sense.

He finally gets on the front passenger seat where Kim Dokja was patiently waiting for him on the driver’s seat.

“Kim Dokja.”

The man looks at him.

“How do you know Lee Hyunsung?”

Kim Dokja scrambles to explain himself.

In summary, his parents hired the boy to be Kim Dokja’s bodyguard despite him being older than the former soldier and had become good friends by the time he’d convinced his parents that he didn’t need a bodyguard.

He finally starts the car when Yoo Joonghyuk’s tense shoulders relax.

“I’m hungry,” Mia whines. Her stomach growls. He can’t help but feel guilty for dragging the time out.

Yoo Joonghyuk orders Murim Dumplings.

Kim Dokja got himself gyoza but the dish has gone ignored for the past 10 minutes in favor of catching up with Jung Heewon.

“Dokja-yah,” he calls out.

Kim Dokja doesn’t even glance at him. Unacceptable. He picks one of the man’s gyoza between his chopsticks and grabs Kim Dokja’s chin gently.

“Open your mouth.” He didn’t really need to say that; Kim Dokja’s mouth was already open. He shoves the gyoza in the gaping mouth and lets Kim Dokja go. “You need to eat more.”

Kim Dokja angrily chews in response.

“Do you have any plans for Valentine’s, captain?” Lee Hyunsung awkwardly asks.

Come to think of it, the 14th is in three days. He curses himself for forgetting something so important. Kim Dokja gulps down the gyoza and starts choking. Yoo Joonghyuk hits his back a few times to dislodge his airways.

“Why would we have plans for Valentine’s?” Kim Dokja questions when he can finally breathe properly.

Yoo Joonghyuk frowns.

“Eh? Aren’t you two dating?”

“What? No!” Kim Dokja denies. “Our relationship isn’t like that.”

Kim Dokja denied the dating allegations so easily. Yoo Joonghyuk hoped a meteor would fall on him right now and eradicate his existence.

“Yeah!” Lee Gilyoung, who'd been engaged in a conversation with the other kids, interrupted. “That sooty bastard isn’t good enough for hyung!”

“NO!” Mia protested. “My oppa is the best. Ahjussi is the one who isn’t worthy of my oppa!”

The two start bickering again and Shin Yoosung does her best to calm them down.

“So, you’re free, then? Because we’d really like it if you went on a trip with us and the rest of the group,” Jung Heewon says.

“Yea-”

“No.” Yoo Joonghyuk announces. “He isn’t free.”

“I’m not???"

“We have plans.” He continues.

“We do?????”

“Yes.” He holds Kim Dokja’s hand.

He’d never seen Kim Dokja so confused. His brows were furrowed and his nose was scrunched up. His pretty pink lips are pursed together. He’s so adorable, Yoo Joonghyuk wants to squeeze his little face and kiss every surface of it.

Jung Heewon starts scrutinizing him. He feels a bit like a convict, and she is the judge who will give him his sentence. Unfortunately for Jung Heewon, he is also his own lawyer and he knows full well he is not guilty of whatever metaphorical crime he’s being tried for.

A serene smile stays on Lee Hyunsung’s face. His expression is knowing, considering he’d bore witness to Yoo Joonghyuk’s thirst tweets. He still feels a bit betrayed that the man knew who Salvation was and didn’t tell him. Hm. Maybe he’ll give Lee Hyunsung a bit of a hard time on their next practice. Just a bit.

Kim Dokja drives his kids to their respective temporary houses and brings Yoo Joonghyuk and Mia home. To his surprise, the man doesn’t immediately drive away when they get to the apartment building. Instead, he walks them to the door of their actual apartment.

Mia goes in first and she quickly disappears into her room before Yoo Joonghyuk could say anything. She doesn’t even bother to say goodbye to Kim Dokja.

“I didn’t know we had plans for Valentine’s,” he says.

That’s because Yoo Joonghyuk forgot about Valentine’s. It’s okay, though. He can fix this.

“Well,” Yoo Joonghyuk starts, “Will you be my valentine, Dokja-yah?”

He rests his palm against Kim Dokja’s cheek and traces the man’s features, stopping at his ears. He never noticed that they were pierced. His breath hitches.

“You won’t let me go if I say no, will you, Joonghyuk-ah?” He’s looking up at him, eyes twinkling impossibly bright.

“Never,” he whispers softly.

“Then I’d love to.”

Yoo Joonghyuk brings their lips together and pulls Kim Dokja into a deep kiss. Kim Dokja gasps and he takes the opportunity to explore the caverns of the man’s mouth. He tastes like gyoza. He tastes like flowers, like honeyed jasmine tea. He tastes so incredibly perfect and Yoo Joonghyuk isn’t sure if he can ever eat anything again and not think about how inferior it is compared to Kim Dokja.

They pull away from each other, a string of saliva connecting their lips.

“I’ll see you on the 14th?” Kim Dokja pants.

Yoo Joonghyuk nods in response. They part and he watches as Kim Dokja leaves, staying out until he couldn’t see the man any longer.

When his apartment door is closed, he excitedly throws his hands in the air.

“LET’S FUCKING GO!”

He still has no idea what they’ll do for Valentine’s but really, who cares? He’s spending it with Kim Dokja, with Salvation. That’s already as perfect as it gets.

Kim Dokja whips out his phone the minute he gets into his car.

The Troubles of Yoo Mia (A few weeks ago…)

Yoo Mia’s oppa has been acting very strange lately.

He’d hum while cooking and skip a little when walking around the apartment. The off-tune humming and the loud skipping wasn’t really the problem here, though, but instead it was the fact that her oppa didn’t do things like that. Her oppa was cold, cool and aloof! Not whatever this is.

When he said that he was out with a companion, she realized that her oppa had been bewitched by an evil, evil person who wanted her oppa for his looks, fame, money and cooking. That simply wouldn’t do!

She’d asked Lee Gilyoung for help, and he’d given her a Love-Protection equipment. Her oppa had taken it and scolded her for having it which just wasn’t fair because she was just trying to help. She’s not sure what he’d done with the square package but she thinks he threw it away because he was still acting weird.

Today, the weirdness was thick in the air.

She’d gotten home from school and wasn’t greeted by her oppa. His room’s door was left slightly ajar and she peeked in to see if he was perhaps sleeping.

He wasn’t sleeping.

Instead, he was in the middle of the room, a blanket placed on his head like it was a veil and holding a weird pink thing that Mia didn’t recognize.

“I,Yoo Joonghyuk, take you, Salvation, to be my husband. I will accompany you in every dungeon and save every S-Class item to give to you, solely. You will always be in my party and you will always be my companion in life and death,” he vows to the wind.

There’s a long pause and Mia watches as her brother wipes an imaginary tear off of his face.

“I love you too, Salvation. I do. I do take you as my lawfully wedded husband-”

Mia decides to leave and contact Seolhwa-unni. This just wasn’t normal anymore; her oppa needed help, therapy and an exorcism.

Chapter 8

Summary:

Did you know Valentine’s Day was named after some Christian saint? He didn’t know before today, but now he can confidently retell the story of how St. Valentine would secretly officiate marriages between couples so the husband would be exempt from fighting in war. But the ruler of the time was a complete asshole and had the saint executed on the 14th of February. Yoo Joonghyuk didn’t need to know this. Yoo Joonghyuk didn’t want to know this.

He’s, as his Twitter stans would say, shitting and crying all over himself. How has he not decided on something yet? He wished Kim Dokja had social media now; at least he’d had more to base off on instead of just books and the generic chocolates, flowers, and teddy bear combo on a dinner date in a fancy restaurant.

Chapter Text

Yoo Joonghyuk is about five seconds away from smashing his head against a wall.

His Google search history is so full of the word ‘valentines’ that he isn’t sure if it’s a real word anymore. Valentines. Valentine. Va. Len. Tine.

It had started simply enough; he searched for ideas on what to do for valentine’s day. Then, he searches for ideas on what to give your special someone for valentine’s day. Then, he searches for places to go to for valentine’s day.

Now, somehow, he has 27 tabs open with enough information about Valentine’s day that he could write an academic research paper on it.

Yoo Joonghyuk had never celebrated Valentine’s day before. He’d been in exactly one relationship before, and even then, he and Lee Seolhwa only dated for a week nearing the end of the year. He was flying blind here and being very brave about it.

Speaking of Lee Seolhwa.

Lee Seolhwa

Seolhwa.
What do you get someone for Valentine’s day?

Hello to you too, Joonghyuk-ssi
For Valentine’s?
Hm…
Flowers, I suppose

No.
Something special.

Oh
That depends on the person
Ask them

Okay, but what if I want it to be a surprise?

Ask that person’s friends.

He’s glad that the woman had responded; it was so late into the night that he’d expected her to be passed out from exhaustion. However, was the answer really that simple?

Oh. I see.
I will try that. Thank you.

Wait

Yes?

How have you been?
Mia-yah called me crying the other day
She asked if she had to have you
admitted to a psych ward

Mia did?

Yes; she was very worried

There was just a misunderstanding.
That’s all.

Is it because of this person
you’re researching Valentine gifts for?

How could you tell?

I know that Joonghyuk-ssi can be a very
romantic person
But Mia-yah doesn’t
It was just a guess

It’s all okay now. Don’t worry.
We talked about it.

Haha
It’s okay
I hope your Valentine date goes well

You too.

Shit, why did he send that? Lee Seolhwa wasn’t even seeing anyone right now; she was too busy being a doctor and saving people.

I wouldn’t call spending time with
my patients a date but I’ll still try to enjoy it!

Yeah. You do that.
Thank you.

Anytime!
And introduce me to this boyfriend of yours
Don’t think I don’t see your tweets
Some of my coworkers talk about you too much

Lee Seolhwa had no choice but to meet Kim Dokja. He’s planning to ask her to be his best woman, after all.

His future wedding with Kim Dokja; what a thought it was.

It’s something he imagined at least a dozen times by now. He’d even acted it out on several occasions.

So far, this is what he knows: he’d like it to be grand, Kim Dokja wearing a ballgown dress and Yoo Joonghyuk waiting for him at the altar. He isn’t opposed to Kim Dokja wearing a suit, just as long as he still wore the veil. A veil that will be modelled exactly like the one on his WOS avatar, of course.

He won’t make the food in their reception, but he’ll make a portion solely for him, Kim Dokja, and the kids. He’ll even bake a small cake just for their table.

He’s still torn on whether he should stream it or not, though. His viewers had witnessed the start of his romance with Kim Dokja; they should be there to watch the story bloom at its full glory. And maybe so SPlotter can froth at his mouth from jealousy. Regardless, he’d have to ask Kim Dokja about it first.

But first, he pulls up his group chat with his party. He had no doubts that his team would be awake; they were all streamers and gamers. None of them had a normal sleeping schedule. And he was more than ready to spam Lee Hyunsung with calls if the man was fast asleep.

Pacheonmaeng

@Lee Hyunsung

LJH: Kim Dokja?

LJH: WAIT CAPTAIN NO TELL US MORE
LJH: IS SALVATION KIM DOKJA

KNW: can we watch your irl duel????

Yoo Joonghyuk sighs as he switches to his conversation with Lee Hyunsung. Kids.

Lee Hyunsung

Lee Hyunsung.

Hello, Captain!
What did you want to ask?

What does Kim Dokja like?

Dokja-ssi?
It’s hard to tell, actually
His parents spoiled him, so we’d
usually just spend time with him

Yes, I will do that.
However, is there anything in particular
he like doing?
Or anywhere he likes going to?

That’s difficult to answer…
Dokja-ssi does tend to stay inside the house
We usually have to force him out
He loves reading if that helps

It really didn’t. If Kim Dokja were a game character, books would be his main theme. Hell, he had a skill called Bookmark in Ways of Survival.

This was… going to be harder than Yoo Joonghyuk initially thought.

I think Dokja-ssi would be content to
spend time together with you in his house!
He’s been talking a lot about your cooking too
so maybe you should cook for him

Kim Dokja talks about Yoo Joonghyuk’s cooking to his friends. Kim Dokja talks about Yoo Joonghyuk to his friends. This is great news for Yoo Joonghyuk. He's going to scream.

I see…
Are there any book genres he prefers?
He had a big collection, so it was hard
to assess his preferences.

Dokja-ssi learns to love every book that
he gets his hands on
That won’t be hard to do

That is so incredibly endearing. Kim Dokja had so much love in him. Yoo Joonghyuk is going to keep some of that love for himself.

Thank you.

You’re welcome!
I hope your date goes well.

With a new fairly coherent plan in his head, Yoo Joonghyuk exits all the opened tabs on his browser and starts searching for chocolate recipes.

He’s gonna make chocolate so good that the cliche will be completely overlooked. Besides - he remembers Kim Dokja’s honey-flooded pancakes - Kim Dokja had a sweet tooth and - as Lee Hyunsung pointed out - loved Yoo Joonghyuk’s cooking. He isn’t sure if making chocolate counts as cooking, but there’s no way to go wrong with this.

The best way to a man’s heart is through the stomach, after all.

In the morning, he prepares to go out and buy chocolate ingredients.

One might think that the list he had prepared was excessive, but frankly, Yoo Joonghyuk doesn’t think he had enough.

Currently, he was prioritising looking for a chocolate box that could fit 30 chocolates. The second thing to look for was a silicon ball mold. If he couldn’t find one of the two, or both, he’d have to readjust his plans, which aren’t much trouble but still slightly disheartening.

Thankfully, he found both easily, though there was only one of the molds left.

The next thing to do was hunt down the ingredients for the 15 flavours of chocolate he wanted to make. While 15 might seem excessive, he only planned to make two pieces of each flavour. He wasn’t sure what flavour Kim Dokja’s favourite was, so he’ll make all of the ones he could think of; it was simple enough.

It takes him the whole day, but somehow he manages to buy everything he needs to woo Kim Dokja completely. He’s exhausted on his walk back to the subway station, his arms full of grocery bags. It’s around the time Mia comes home. Hopefully, he’ll be home on time to cook something decent for his little sister.

The plan was to go straight back home when he noticed a little antique shop, shy between a bakery and a clothing store. His curiosity wins him over, and he pushes the door open, slightly struggling due to his baggage. The small chime of a bell sounds as the door opens, and he looks around the surprisingly well-kept shop.

“Oh, a cus tomer?” A slightly stuttery serene voice echoes through the store.

Yoo Joonghyuk looks at the source and finds a young man with white hair sitting on a rocking chair. The man’s eyes are closed as he rocks back and forth.

“It’s been a while since a ny one has come in here. Any thing, in particu lar, you're loo king for?”

Yoo Joonghyuk starts to shake his head but stops when he remembers that the man’s eyes are still shut tight. “Nothing. I just wanted to see what was in here.”

“Ah, but e very one who comes here has left with some thing they were miss ing.” The man’s eyes slowly flutter open, and blood-red pupils twinkle with amusement. “I think I know what you’re here for.”

The man stands up and starts shifting through the trinkets around the room. Yoo Joonghyuk notices that most of the things were books. They looked old but in good condition. He should bring Kim Dokja here sometime.

“Aha! He re it is.” The man holds up a black book with golden engravings that Yoo Joonghyuk couldn’t decipher. “Sor ry for the wait. Biyoo is the one who knows how most of the things here are ar ranged, and she’s been gone for a bit now.”

“Biyoo?”

The name of Kim Dokja’s cat wasn’t common and he couldn’t imagine anyone naming a child Biyoo. Maybe it was just a weird coincidence. Kim Dokja’s mother had named her son Dokja after all. As fitting as the name might be, he had to wonder what went through her head the first time she held his son for her to name him reader.

“If you see her an ytime soon, plea se tell her Ives is loo king for her,” The man - presumably named Ives - says, pushing the book into Yoo Joonghyuk’s already full arms. “Biyoo is an i diot.”

Before Yoo Joonghyuk could answer, he was shoved out of the door.

“Go now. Run a long, pro tagon ist. You have th ings to do.”

The door is slammed shut on his face, and Yoo Joonghyuk is left to stare at it in bewildered silence.

What the fuck just happened?

He finally gets to look at the book that was forced on him. The title was intricate writing of the words ‘Companions Separated by Life and Death.’ A weird nostalgia overtakes him as he examines the book he’d never seen in his life before. Ives didn’t even let him pay.

He supposes Kim Dokja would be more than happy to add it to his collection.

The weird encounter was quickly forgotten when he finally set his groceries on the dinner table, completely covering half of it. Mia was in her room, most likely on the phone with her friends.

He makes dakgangjeong for dinner, and the smell lures his little sister out. She was already sitting at the table before he’d finished cooking.

Mia talks about her, Shin Yoosung and Lee Gilyoung’s plans to do sleepovers at each other’s houses. On the 13th and 14th, they’ll be sleeping at Shin Yoosung’s. On the 15th and 16th, they’ll be at Lee Gilyoungs. On the 17th and 18th, they’ll be at their apartment.

Yoo Joonghyuk isn’t sure how kids come up with the most contrived plans, but he indulges Mia. He tells her it’s fine if they all ask for permission from Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung’s current guardians. Mia happily informs him that they’ve all agreed and they’d only been missing Yoo Joonghyuk’s approval.

He sighs softly as he plates their food and places them on the table.

“Blow on that before you eat it. It’s hot,” he warns his little sister.

Mia still finishes her plate in record time and presses a kiss on his cheek before hurrying back to her room, saying she wanted to tell her friends the good news.

Yoo Joonghyuk rolls his eyes fondly at her antics.

Once he washed the plates they had just used, he laid out the ingredients on the kitchen table, examining each one. He’d spent quite a lot today, making sure only to pick the highest quality ingredients.

He arranged them by what flavour he was going to use them for. Different toppings with matching flavouring and various dried fruits and nuts are aligned in small columns to make tomorrow easier for him.

It shouldn’t be hard even if he did finish it tomorrow. It was the 11th of February, two hours away from becoming the 12th. He should get some sleep.

He wakes up at the usual time to prepare Mia’s breakfast and lunch.

By eight in the morning, he’s ready to start making the chocolate.

It goes well at first. Caramel wasn’t particularly hard to make, and he didn’t break a sweat by the time he poured them into the mold.

The problem starts here; Yoo Joonghyuk only had one silicon mold that could make two chocolate molds simultaneously. He isn’t sure how long it takes for the chocolate to harden, especially not the particularly well-sized ones he was making.

He needs to use the mold fourteen more times.

In the end, making one pair of chocolate amounts to one hour and 30 minutes, the one hour dedicated to preparing the chocolate and the 30 minutes waiting for it to freeze. In other words, it was doable.

He’s in the middle of making the second batch - dark chocolate - when he gets a call from someone he did not want to speak to right now, simply because dealing with her was draining. He stares at the insistently ringing phone, willing for it to stop. It doesn't.

Sighing, he picks up the phone and puts it against his ear.

YOU SUPREME BASTARD, WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG TO PICK UP? ” comes the shrill shriek of Han Sooyoung.

“I was busy,” he answers very honestly.

I don’t care if you’re busy! You’re messing up our birthday plans with Dokja!

What birthday plans?

“Whose birthday?”

Are you dumb? Dokja’s birthday, idiot .”

The world stops turning.

“What.”

...

“...”

“Did you not know?

He didn’t know Salvation’s birthday. This is sickening. Yoo Joonghyuk is going to stab himself.

“When is it?”

The 15th. We were going to take him to a resort or something, but someone had to ruin it.

His eyesight turns blurry. The 15th. He didn’t even have Kim Dokja’s Valentine’s gift finished, and now he had to worry about a birthday gift? The title of ‘Companions Separated by Life and Death’ sparkles intensely at him, like it was begging to be picked. Well, he supposes he could give the chocolates on Valentine’s and the book on Kim Dokja’s birthday.

“Why is this a problem? He’ll be free by the 15th; our date is on the 14th. You don’t even sound like you had a concrete plan.” He points out.

Oh, trust me. Neither of you will be free for at least the morning of the 15th. Call it a hunch. As for the other thing, trips are more enjoyable when you don’t know where you’re going. Besides, Lee Hyunsung said you didn’t have one either .”

That was weirdly ominous. Why did Han Sooyoung make it sound like Kim Dokja was gonna murder him? And would torturing Lee Hyunsung be against the law? He thinks this is a valid enough excuse to be exempted. Just this once.

“Are you the reason why Lee Hyunsung is gone for days on end at random intervals?”

Yes .”

Every day, Han Sooyoung tests how far she can go. She will die very young at the hands of one angry Yoo Joonghyuk.

“...”

More importantly, Dokja’s birthday, ” Han Sooyoung changes the topic.

“Yes, that’s more important.”

At least Han Sooyoung had her priorities in order. Kim Dokja first before making fun of Yoo Joonghyuk.

We’ll celebrate it at the Underworld. You remember that bar I took you to?

Yoo Joonghyuk grunts in confirmation. Everything leads back to that bar.

We’ll celebrate there. Bring him by one in the afternoon. It’d be easier for the kids and his parents, anyway.

Kim Dokja’s parents. One in the afternoon. Yoo Joonghyuk would like more time to prepare to meet his future in-laws. Otherwise, he might just collapse. Maybe even drop dead spontaneously.

He can picture his headstone now: Rest In Peace - Yoo Joonghyuk; a good brother, loving almost-boyfriend, pretty cool gamer, hot enough to transcend sexualities. He died from being too nervous about meeting the parents of his salvation. He will be missed.

“No. Six in the evening,” he protests.

This isn’t something to negotiate on, you bastard. One in the afternoon , no ifs, no buts ,”

“Five.”

Two .”

“Four.”

Three .”

“Four.”

Three .”

“Four.”

Ugh. Whatever. Deal. Four in the afternoon, then. ” If he could see Han Sooyoung right now, he bets she’s thrown her hands up in irritated surrender. She would have tried to punch Yoo Joonghyuk’s face too. Not that she could reach him; Han Sooyoung is too short to do that.

“Okay,” he humphs triumphantly.

I’ll text you the details later. Have fun, you simp. ”

She hangs up before he can even respond. He puts his phone away, silencing it at the onslaught of ding for every text Han Sooyoung sends him. He’ll deal with it when he’s done with the chocolates.

When he’s about to start the 4th batch of chocolates, a familiar notification sound fills the kitchen, and he books it to get to his phone. Two people go through his Do Not Disturb status, and only one of them has that unique tone.

Yoo Joonghyuk’s stomach drops at the invitation. He wanted to; he did, but he was already cramming for Valentine’s. He couldn't afford to waste any more time; not that spending time with Kim Dokja was a waste. Simply put: he didn’t have time.

Apologies, Dokja
But I’m busy right now.

oh :((

Be still, my heart , Yoo Joonghyuk thinks to himself. Restrain yourself. This time away from Kim Dokja is for Kim Dokja. Inhale. Exhale.

I miss you too.

The world… is a dark and cruel place. To have light, there must be darkness. To have darkness, there must be light. Kim Dokja is Yoo Joonnghyuk’s light. Not spending time with Kim Dokja was the darkness. The world was dark enough to blind him now, so coldness had seeped into his bones. Will he ever recover?

Mia comes home at the end of his 6th batch.

She looks at the chocolates hungrily, looking up at Yoo Joonghyuk with her pleading, puppy eyes. One might think that Yoo Joonghyuk would say no because of how hard he’d work to make these chocolates for Kim Dokja. What wasn’t taken into account, though, is that Yoo Joonghyuk is an older brother first and foremost.

He’d predicted exactly what would happen. So in advance, he’d made an extra batch for Mia during his lunch break. And he’d frozen the leftover chocolate from the previous batches into sheets, so he could crush them and make it look intentional for Mia to take to school the next day. The sleepover marathon with Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung, aka Kim Dokja’s official unofficial kids, started the next day too.

Two birds with one stone, he thinks.

He ensures Mia has eaten dinner before handing her a piece of chocolate. Her eyes sparkle a bright gold, and the most blissful smile ever to grace the face of a Yoo blooms.

As Kim Namwoon would say: All according to keikaku ( keikaku means plan.)

If he was quoting Kim Namwoon of all people, he might do what his sister wanted to do and talk to a psychiatrist.

Breathe in. Breathe out. He was fine. Not exhausted, not tired at all. He could do this.

When he starts his 13th batch, it’s already one hour into the 13th of February.

Needless to say, he was more than a little sick of chocolates by now. He’d taste test so much his teeth ached.

He persevered, thinking of his teammates: as Lee Hyunsung would say, no pain, no gain.

Yoo Joonghyuk is actually unsure if Lee Hyunsung said that. It didn’t matter; it’s not like anyone was reading his thoughts right this very second.

The smell of mint chocolate makes him gag a little. This is hell.

It's fine. This is fine. Anything for Kim Dokja. Everything for Kim Dokja.

Yoo Joonghyuk finishes just in time for Mia to wake up and get ready for school.

The last batch of chocolate has finished chilling in the freezer, and the box he’d been slowly filling in since last night waits for its final pair of balls.

Pair of balls. Hah. That’s funny.

Mia is ecstatic to receive the leftover chocolate but more than a little concerned about him.

“Oppa, did you not sleep last night?” Her voice is so far away.

Yoo Joonghyuk grunts sleepily in response to the table. It still smelled like chocolate. Thankfully, he cleaned it from the dripped chocolate, so it didn’t have any of the sticky residue.

Mia’s little feet patter as she jogs to him. She gets at the tip of his toes and pats his head reassuringly.

“There, there, oppa. You should get some sleep; you did a good job,” she comforts him.

This is a completely new low for Yoo Joonghyuk. The worst part was that he was used to sleeping late, but those nights were usually for gaming. Chocolate-making is exhausting. He lifts his head to see Mia concentrated on petting his hair.

“I’m okay, darling.” His voice is rough from accidental dehydration. It only serves to make Mia’s already furrowed eyebrows furrow deeper. “Go to school now; I’ll sleep in a bit.”

“Okay…” Mia didn’t sound entirely convinced. Which was fair, honestly. He probably looked like a mess right now. “I’ll be off now, oppa,” she whispers instead of her usual enthusiastic declaration. Yoo Joonghyuk raised her so well.

Yoo Joonghyuk gives her a quick hug and sees her out of the apartment.

God, he wanted to sleep.

He wakes up at around 9 PM. Somehow, he’s still sleepy despite sleeping more than half the day away.

There are a few disoriented minutes where he worries about Mia not eating dinner before remembering that Mia was staying over at Shin Yoosung’s. She even brought a bag full of clothes and spare uniforms for her four days away from home. He should call her to check on her later.

He grabs the phone on his nightstand and opens it to see the notifications.

Apart from his thousands of social media notifications, two of his contacts’ texts sit unread in his Messages.

One was from Han Sooyoung; the other was from Kim Dokja. Obviously, Yoo Joonghyuk had priorities.

He reads and rereads the texts lovingly. Of course, they’d spend their first official date in Ways of Survival. They met in Ways of Survival - it would make sense that the game tags along with their romance.

Would they have to hold a wedding in Ways of Survival too? Yoo Joonghyuk wouldn’t be opposed; it sounded cute. Maybe they can force Han Sooyoung to make models of their in-real-life wedding outfits.

Anything you want, Dokja
I miss you too.

Kim Dokja doesn’t respond. It wasn’t that late, but he suspects the man was taking another one of his unnecessarily long complex baths. Yoo Joonghyuk had asked him in passing why he takes so long in the shower, and the only information his brain retained was something about moisturising and exfoliating. Otherwise, the conversation was just a blur.

When they finally get to take a bath together, it will last twice as long. For completely different reasons. Like sex.

He checks Han Sooyoung’s messages, ignoring his slowly erecting cock.

Han Sooyoung (deserves no respect)

Yoo Joonghyuk doesn’t even bother responding to the woman. He closes his phone and snuggles back into his pillows, head filled with thoughts of Kim Dokja.

At the sleepover:

“We all know why this week-long meeting has been scheduled,” Yoo Mia says gravely, looming over Shin Yoosung and Lee Gilyoung.

The other two nod back at her, just as serious, in response.

“My oppa is in love with your dad, which clearly means they’re getting married soon.”

“Hold up,” Shin Yoosung protests. “Why are you so sure Dokja-ahjussi returns your oppa’s feelings?”

“Yeah! There’s no way hyung would want that sooty bastard.” Lee Gilyoung exclaims, banging his fists into a pillow.

“Because…” Mia starts, “My oppa is perfect, and your dad is a mess! He’s a shut-in! I’ve heard oppa say that he eats astronaut food, which is a waste of resources because he isn’t even in space! Your dad is the reason why we can’t live on Mars yet!”

“I don’t think that’s how it wor-”

“Who cares about Mars?! Mars isn’t even that cool, anyway. Mars doesn’t have bugs!” The sole boy of the group justifies.

“No bugs…” Shin Yoosung exhales in awe.

“They don’t have any other animals either,” he adds dryly. The awe in Shin Yoosung’s eyes hardens into bitter disappointment.

It’s silent as the trio looks at each other, at a standstill.

Finally, Mia sighs and puts her hands at her side. A new sort of seriousness crosses her face, and the other two hold their breaths as they wait for what she will say.

“If my oppa marries your dad,” she says slowly like she’s trying to soften the blow of the other shoe dropping, “I will legally become your aunt.”

Despair falls on the faces of Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung.

They had to stop this wedding.

Chapter Text

Yoo Joonghyuk did not know what to expect to see when he rang the bell of Kim Dokja’s door.

In his hands is the box of chocolate, carefully wrapped in a golden ribbon. He’s dressed in one of his more expensive shirts. The first three buttons at the top were undone, showing off his toned chest. He’s wearing a simple pair of trousers to go along with it, sleek and fitting. It makes his legs look longer.

He did his best to create a plain look that still showed that he put effort into choosing the outfit. It was a gruelling process. Yoo Joonghyuk had tried on at least 27 different outfits before settling for this one.

The door cracks open, and it reveals a sleepy Kim Dokja. The man’s hair was ruffled, standing up in odd parts. It looked fluffier than it normally was. He was wearing an oversized shirt, so big that it slipped off one of his shoulders, milky white skin and prominent collar bones exposed for the world to see. there's a slight sheen on his chin, and upon closer look, it was obviously dried-up drool.

Yoo Joonghyuk stills, starstruck at the sight.

Kim Dokja looked so incredibly beautiful. He looked well-rested, the rawest he’ll ever be. Yoo Joonghyuk exhales shakily as he thinks of waking up every day of his life to this sight: Kim Dokja, eyes heavy from dreaming, a soft good morning slipping from his mouth, their faces inches away from each other. Their limbs are tangled in a way that declares undying affection to anyone who’d set sight on them: here are two men who are in love. Here are Kim Dokja and Yoo Joongyuk; lovers, companions - the label does not matter. What matters is they are both assured that neither life nor death can separate them.

Yoo Joonghyuk snaps out of his daydreaming when Kim Dokja's mouth twitches into a lazy smile, though it looks closer to a smirk.

“You’re early, Joonghyuk-ah.”

“We didn’t agree on a time," he replies breathlessly.

"Ah. You're right. Come in." The door is swung open, and he watches as the drowsy man stumbles back inside, feet dragging.

Yoo Joonghyuk pauses thoughtfully for a second before rushing in and scooping Kim Dokja's figure into his arms. The man yelps in surprise, eyes widening at the sudden movement, but he stares at the soft, gentle look directed at him and goes limp. He rests his head on Yoo Joonghyuk’s chest, closing his eyes, taking deep breaths, and inhaling the subtle cologne.

He can’t help but wonder if Kim Dokja could hear how fast his heart was beating. It felt like it was going to rip itself out of his chest and into the hands of this beautiful being of perfection.

He sets Kim Dokja down on the couch slowly, careful not to wake the man up. A small smile graces his face as he takes in the sight of the reader’s sleeping form.

Yoo Joonghyuk tiptoes his way into the kitchen, putting his fancy chocolate box inside Kim Dokja’s fancy refrigerator. He rummages around for ingredients, grabs a few and closes the fridge when he feels satisfied.

He’ll make breakfast for the sleeping love of his life. After all, he had to take responsibility for waking up his future husband at six in the morning.

In his defence, he’d been too excited for their date, and he’d woken up in the middle of the night imagining the things that could possibly go wrong and creating elaborate countermeasures for each and every single one.

This day had to go without a single hitch. He’d never live it down if it didn’t.

Kim Dokja wakes up to his kitchen table full of side dishes. Yoo Joonghyuk watches in satisfaction at the look on Kim Dokja’s face, one that had been drowsily confused before it turned into alarm, then into sudden realisation when his starry eyes landed on Yoo Joonghyuk.

“Good morning, Dokja-yah.” He takes off the apron and hangs it back where he found it. “I made you breakfast.”

“How did you get into my house?” Kim Dokja asks, aghast, but Yoo Joonghyuk can tell that the man was still not fully awake with how he blinked a little longer than he normally would when he was awake.

Yoo Joonghyuk’s brow furrowed in confusion. “What do you mean? You let me in yourself.”

The man searches his face for any signs of lying. He doesn’t find any. “I answered the door… looking like this?” He gestures at his whole body.

“Looking incredibly pretty? Yes.” Yoo Joonghyuk points at the fridge. “I bought you chocolates.” He adds, hoping to distract the man long enough so he could keep looking at Kim Dokja in this oversized shirt.

Kim Dokja’s head swerves to where he is pointing, and he dashes the fridge, except Yoo Joonghyuk catches him by the collar of his shirt. Lifting Kim Dokja from under his arms, Yoo Joonghyuk positions the man in front of the table pointedly.

“No sweets before breakfast.”

“But-”

“No.”

“Just one-”

No.

Pleading, starry eyes look up at him, and he bites his tongue, trapping it between his teeth so he can’t say anything he didn’t mean.

“Hyuk-ah,” Kim Dokja whines, eyelashes fluttering. “Dokja-yah wants chocolates, please.”

Nails digging into the palms of his hand and teeth separated by a muscle essential to say the word ‘no,’ he instead furiously shakes his head. His eyes are shut tight to avoid the puppy look Kim Dokja was giving him. It was too similar to his little sister’s, and he always had difficulty saying no to Mia. He wasn’t sure to what lengths he’d go for Kim Dokja.

He’d probably kill for the love of his life, slash future husband, slash fiance-to-be.

A resigned sigh makes its way through the pleading man’s throat. “Okay, okay; I’ll stop. You can open your eyes now.”

Cautiously, he opens his eyes, the brown melting into gold as it meets light. Kim Dokja is standing mischievously in front of him, and Yoo Joonghyuk eyes the smaller male suspiciously.

All doubts leave his mind when Kim Dokja presses his lips against his cheeks, his heart bursting like a balloon at how much love pours in and out of it.

“Go eat breakfast, Dokja,” he whispers, face red.

The man giggles as he walks away and sits on the table. Yoo Joonghyuk notices something dark peeking through the shirt's collar, but he’s too distracted to think about what it was.

The kiss was sweeter than any of the chocolates in that box, and he hadn’t even tasted Kim Dokja’s lips.

Ah. Maybe he shouldn’t marry Kim Dokja after all. He’ll die young from diabetes.

He glances at the man who was silently but happily, feasting on his home-cooked meal. Who was Yoo Joonghyuk kidding? He never had any other choice. He would stay with Kim Dokja even if it killed him.

When Kim Dokja returns from his one-and-a-half-hour shower, he’s fully awake. He stutters an apology for his earlier conduct, unable to look into Yoo Joonghyuk’s eyes. He’s red from his face down to his neck.

Yoo Joonghyuk would think it was adorable if it wasn’t for the fact that Kim Dokja wasn’t being as affectionate as he was earlier.

“Dokja-yah,” he says, interrupting the man’s endless streams of apologies. “Shut up.” He leans in to kiss the shorter man, bending his neck slightly to meet his lips.

“Oh,” Kim Dokja blurts out very intelligibly after they part.

Yoo Joonghuk stares at him in anticipation.

“Let’s go to my room,” the man murmurs, voice cracking— a new hope blooms in Yoo Joonghyuk’s chest. Was this it? Is this the part where they make love and confess to each other? “You should start the stream soon; the event is time-limited.”

The hope shatters abruptly in his chest. Luckily, the metaphorical shards weren’t sharp, so he picked them up and molded them together into something new.

Kim Dokja will be his by the end of the day. Only if he wanted to be, of course.

“It’s a bit messy; please let me clean up a bit,” Kim Dokja said as soon as Yoo Joonghyuk decided he wanted to explore the room.

The master bedroom was, of course, unnaturally spacey. Surprisingly, it didn’t follow the same theme as the rest of the house. While the main colour was still white, pops of colour drew in the eye. It was a welcome break from the monochromes and golds.

A king-sized bed stood snugly in the middle, an uncountable flood of pillows and blankets tousled messily on it since it wasn’t made. One wall was filled with picture frames and polaroid pictures alike. Upon closer look, there were also drawings drawn by the kids; most are with either one of the two with their soon-to-be-dad, and a few are of all three of them together. All of them are in surprisingly good condition. The pictures are of Kim Dokja and his friends, albeit the man himself wasn’t in most. Still, Yoo Joonghyuk greedily memorised the ones that did hold Kim Dokja’s face.

He wonders if, one day, he’d make it up the wall of the people Kim Dokja treasured.

There are shelves of little trinkets ranging from rocks, seashells and fancy jewellery boxes. A frame with a picture of four people stands on the white nightstand next to the bed.

One of the other walls holds a bookshelf from the floor to the top of the ceiling. Even if Yoo Joonghyuk stretched out, he doubted he could reach the top shelf. A sliding ladder is set to the side. He sees the cracks in the book’s spines when he comes closer. A few had bookmarks or ribbons inserted into them.

On a corner, there’s a PC setup. It’s fancy; something even Yoo Joonghyuk couldn’t afford. He wouldn’t be surprised if it were custom-made.

Overall, it felt… right. It wasn’t minimalistic as he expected it to be but it was still clean, except for the dozens of books on the floor.

When the man finishes picking up the books scattered around, Kim Dokja explained why there were so many on the floor: a few he read made him feel enough emotions that he threw them at a wall. The others had accidentally fallen off his bed, and he’d been too lazy to pick it up, instead grabbing another book from the bedside table.

“Aren’t you supposed to take care of your books?” Yoo Joonghyuk asks, eyeing the pile of books held precariously in Kim Dokja’s arms. He moves to take some of it off and help the struggling man. He receives a grateful smile in return.

“They’re all still readable! None of the pages are torn out or anything,” he defends himself. “I know that people always make a fuss about folded pages and cracked spines but how do you show a book it’s loved if you don’t leave a mark on it?”

Unsure of how to respond, Yoo Joonghyuk keeps quiet. He didn’t know Kim Dokja had such a side to him; maybe he should have expected it from all the things the man kept in his room. With little trinkets kept dustless and arranged in a way that they were all easily seen, it was clear Kim Dokja was someone who kept the things he treasured. Sentimental might be the word for it.

"I've turned on the PC. Can I watch you set up your stream?"

Yoo Joonghyuk nods in response, sitting himself down on the fancy gaming chair. He expected it to be uncomfortable as all gaming chairs were, but of course, it wasn't. Kim Dokja got a chair that looked cool and comfortable at the same time. The blatant but unintentional show of wealth makes something in him twist.

He may or may not have found it extremely attractive.

Kim Dokja fills the silence between them by asking him questions about stream setups. Yoo Joonghyuk readily explains everything, from what each button does to why he needed to test certain things.

The setup really was so much better than what he had at home. The camera was better and the graphics ran smoother. Maybe he should marry Kim Dokja immediately, if not just to use his PC.

Between setting up stream, answering his (rich) future husband’s questions and revising wedding plans in his head, he doesn’t notice how quickly he finishes checking everything over.

“It’s done,” he informs Kim Dokja.

“I’ll go to the other room now.” The man stretches. He bends over and presses his lips against Yoo Joonghyuk’s forehead. “For luck,” he says vaguely before rushing out of the room.

The streamer takes a deep breath in as the door shuts close and screams silently into his hands.

That was so adorable. He’s never washing his forehead again; he didn’t want the luck bestowed by his lord and saviour Kim “Salvation” Dokja to ever wear off.

The game notifies him that Salvation has finally logged in the game. He turns on the mic.

“Hello, Salvation.”

Windchime laughter echoes in his brain as his head empties at the sound of pure joy in Salvation’s voice. “ We just saw each other literal minutes ago ,” he manages to hiccup out between giggles.

“Well, a few minutes apart from you feels like an eternity,” he says smoothly, intentionally deepening his voice to make it sound sexier.

A new round of laughter bubbles up from the bellows of Kim Dokja’s belly.

You’re so pretentious, ” he screeches breathlessly.

Yoo Joonghyuk didn’t care if he was being cringe. All that mattered was he made Kim Dokja happy.

“Well,” he starts, “Shall we go?”

“I will strangle you,” Yoo Joonghyuk threatens after Kim Dokja played an incredibly risky move. He doesn’t get a response but he can imagine the man shrugging with a shrewd grin on his face.

It worked didn’t it? ” comes his partner’s sly reply.

A vein throbs in Yoo Joonghyuk’s forehead. Just because it worked didn’t mean it was a risk they needed to take. There were other, safer methods for god’s sake.

“We are in the same house. I can and will strangle you.”

The event was surprisingly difficult. He’s not sure if it’s because they’re playing in the server with the hard mode but they’ve spent two hours trying to clear it and he’s sure they’re only about a quarter of the way through the dungeon.

The event worked like this: their health is shared between them and the normal healing potions didn’t work. It took them a few tries to figure this out considering there was absolutely no guide on how the event mechanics. There was a specific item that was rarely dropped that healed their shared HP bar. They had a decent stockpile due to Yoo Joonghyuk’s uncanny RNG luck but he’d prefer to save them and keep their journey safe. Especially since they even restarted whenever they died.

Kim Dokja doing risky things in the game wasn’t uncommon. While he was a reliable companion who saved Yoo Joonghyuk more often than the latter saved him, he also tended to use up his stock of HP and MP potions in the process of doing so. His HP never hit zero somehow and Yoo Joonghyuk was beginning to think it was a skill he didn’t know about.

Choke me, daddy, ” Kim Dokja teases, an amused lilt in his voice.

Yoo Joonghyuk visibly freezes and the pads of his fingers press into the mouse. The poor piece of plastic creaks sadly under the force of his grip.

It’s 7 PM by the time they finish the event.

The final boss battle had been a struggle and less than a quarter of their HP was left. It was yet another squid monster, this time with more tentacles and atrociously designed to be bright red with heart patterns. It blew out heart bubbles and squirted out a white liquid that slowed them down whenever they got hit by it. That particular attack was really awkward, especially since the liquid would cover their avatars slightly until the effect wore off. It looked like… something else.

Yoo Joonghyuk was really starting to question Han Sooyoung’s obsession with tentacle monsters.

The beautiful sight at the end makes it all a bit worth it though. A big lake stretched out in front of them, its waters clear with the animated flora and fishes moving with the generated flow of the lake. The plants glowed, illuminating the lake despite the dark sky. There’s a big cherry blossom tree next to the lake and a picnic blanket lies under it. A basket shaped suspiciously like a chest is placed in the middle.

Both of them approach it at the same time. Salvation steps into the blanket first, his avatar pausing in front of the basket.

It’s not opening. Hurry up, Hyukkie, ” he urges. A few of the chests in the dungeon needed both of their presence for it to be opened. It wasn't a bad assumption that this might be one of them.

Yoo Joonghyuk manoeuvres his character next to Salvation. The game transitions to a cutscene and they lose control over their characters.

" Oh, " comes Kim Dokja's surprised voice. A soft meow follows it but it's shushed quickly by the man. " Shh, Biyoo, this is important. "

SupremeSimp: KITTY??????

JudgeOfFire: OHNY GODD ITS HER ITS BIYOO

PuniUnni: i wanna see her biyoo biyoo

DeluDevi: dogs r sooo much better…

H2OAdmiral: @DeluDevi u dont like pussy? so ur gay??

BlackFlame: Your emperor agrees with @DeluDevi

H2OAdmiral: so ur gay too???

DeluDevi: IM NOT GAY

Yoo Joonghyuk ignores the chat and resolutely focuses on the screen.

There, their characters sit next to each other. Salvation opens the basket and pulls out what looked to be a pocketwatch. The veiled avatar holds it in front of him, the piece of metal dangling, before handing it to SupremeKing. Yoo Joonghyuk's avatar tries to give it back, pulling out another pocketwatch from the basket. Instead of taking the one he got back, Salvation takes the pocketwatch Yoo Joonghyuk just grabbed.

There’s an unreadable inscription carved onto its cover. The watches open to reveal that the hours weren't synced to the time, nor were they synced to each other. Instead, the hands of the clocks pointed to where the other was, Salvation's leaning towards the 1st hour and Yoo Joonghyuk's leaning towards the 11th.

The view pans to the darkening sky. A few stars are scattered but it was mostly empty.

It stops being empty as a red trail of sparks shoots up and booms like a blooming flower. Another follows, and another, and another, until the sky is filled with fireworks.

He hears Kim Dokja’s breath hitch through the headphones. Yoo Joonghyuk wants to see him right now. He wants to see Kim Dokja’s starry eyes reflect the colourful lights from the monitor as another boom signals the launching of a firework. Mostly, he wants to take Kim Dokja to see actual fireworks; if animated ones impressed him so much, how much more when he sees the real thing?

The love of his life really needed to go out more and touch some grass.

The fireworks pitters out and the cutscene finally ends, leaving them with the pocketwatch and a new skill.

<Item Information>

Name: Watcher

Rating: Star Relic

Description: Carved by the space deity for his lover, a deity of time. It was made as a pair, both pieces connected by an unknown magic. The hands point to where the other is instead of showing the time. As an additional ability, the holder of a watch may use it to teleport to the other and vice versa. This can only be used once a day.

There is an inscription at the side: ‘μαζί παρά το χρόνο και την απόσταση.

That’s a really cute item, ” Kim Dokja exclaims. “ The lore behind it sounds intriguing. I wish they’d elaborated it more.”

“I can finally track you down before you do anything dumb again…”

Hey! ” he pauses. “ Oh my god, it’s equipable… Hyukkie, look! ” Salvation runs to him, now with the pocketwatch worn around his neck.

Yoo Joonghyuk quickly equips his, refusing to miss the chance to match with Kim Dokja.

“We match,” he says curtly.

We do!

He finally decides to check out the skill they’d obtained.

<Skill Information>

Name: Companions Through Life and Death

Rating: Mythical

Description: Allows you to share your health with the partner you completed the Valentine Event with.

“This…” he starts, “is useless.”

Don’t be rude!

“We have health potions, Salvation.”

Health potions take time to consume AND they have a cooldown. This skill is more useful for battles where we don’t have time to use potions, like the volcano squid we had to face.

That boss was terrible to fight. It released so many AoE attacks that both of them never got the chance to heal, too busy taking turns taking hits for each other so neither died. If they had this skill, one of them could have hidden away, chugging health potions and surrendering their health to the other while one of them continuously attacked. It was a bit overpowered, but still not that useful.

“Okay, Salvation,” he concedes, trying to keep the sarcasm out of his voice.

I’m glad you understand. ” The sound of rustling and the creaking of a chair is heard. “ I’m gonna have some of that chocolate you got for me. I’ll be back in a bit.

Kim Dokja leaves before Yoo Joonghyuk can tell him not to spoil his appetite. The streamer sighs and slumps into his chair.

“I think I’ll be ending stream here, chat.” The chat fills with protests and a few bribes for him to not end.

“I don’t know where Biyoo is right now.”

PuniUnni: LOOK FOR HER

PuniUnni: BIYOO BIYOO BIYOO

PuniUnni: can we please have a biyoo emoji She Is So Special To Me

He doesn’t say anything. His viewers will never know exactly how hard of a task it would be to find Biyoo in Kim Dokja’s mansion.

The door creaks open and Yoo Joonghyuk’s head whips around to see Kim Dokja’s head peeking in. The man steps into the room, the box of chocolates in his hand.

“Do- Salvation,” he quickly corrects himself. “What are you doing here?”

“I wanted to see you,” Kim Dokja responds. “The chocolates are really good. Where did you get them?”

“I made them myself,” he answers, preening.

He reads chat from the corner of his eyes.

SupremeSimp: HE MADEEE CHOCOLATESSS

JudgeOfFire: I FEEL SICK SALVATION IS LITERALLY IN THE ROOM RIGHTNOW HE IS LITEREALLY THERE

SPSPSPSP: I want to see him…

Yoo Joonghyuk will ban SPlotter’s new account later. He’s preoccupied right now, Kim Dokja’s form magnetizing as he puts another one of the chocolates in his mouth. The man steps closer and it makes Yoo Joonghyuk’s heart skip a beat when he remembers that the camera was still on.

“Stop.” Kim Dokja pauses, tilting his head curiously. ”The camera is still on.”

The man rolls his eyes at him. “I know. I’ll keep out of frame.”

Yoo Joonghyuk can’t help but watch Kim Dokja instead of paying attention to chat. He knows his viewers were most likely going crazy right now but he couldn’t keep his eyes off of the love of his life. Kim Dokja looked relaxed as he munched on the chocolate, sucking on his fingers to consume the residue. He notices Yoo Joonghyuk’s utter focus on him.

“Do you want some?” He moves his head to say no but Kim Dokja had already plucked one out of the box. His hand stretches out, his arm coming into the camera’s view. His fingers glisten with the drool coating them from when he was consuming the chocolates. “Open your mouth, Hyukkie.”

Yoo Joonghyuk only hesitates for a second before moving his head to capture the fingers in his mouth. Kim Dokja jolts in surprise as he uses his tongue to pry the chocolate off of the weak grip. He delves deeper, sucking Kim Dokja’s lithe fingers even when there was no sweetness left; just the saltiness of flesh and the addicting taste of Kim Dokja.

Kim Dokja gulps. “Joonghyuk, you’re still streaming.”

He momentarily removes his mouth from the fingers, grabbing Kim Dokja’s wrist to make sure he didn’t leave. “Let them watch,” he growls, pushing the chocolate into the side of his mouth, his cheek bulging slightly.

“Joonghyuk-ah,” he calls out before shyly looking down. Yoo Joonghyuk follows his gaze and his eyes land on Kim Dokja’s crotch. Or more specifically, the bulge of Kim Dokja’s hard-on. “Please end the stream.”

His hands move quick, not even glancing at chat, to press the End Stream button. He can’t bring himself to care about the consequences of his actions and the certain reprimanding from Bihyung; all he wanted right now was Salvation.

He takes the box of chocolates from Kim Dokja’s hands and sets it down on the PC table, pulling in Kim Dokja until the man took the hint and settled on his lap, straddling Yoo Joonghyuk. With how closely they were situated, he can feel Kim Dokja’s cock against him. It was... odd. He can feel an unusual bumpiness even through the cloth. He decides not to think too much about it.

Their lips meet and Yoo Joonghyuk pries open Kim Dokja’s lips and twirls his tongue with the man’s, what was left of the chocolate passing into the man’s waiting mouth. Kim Dokja moans pleasurably at the sudden sweetness and Yoo Joonghyuk’s hips thrust up at the erotic sound.

The chocolate is squeezed between their tongues, melting quickly at the heat of their mouths. When it’s fully melted, coating the pink muscles responsible for its liquefaction, Kim Dokja pulls away. The man pants, desperately breathing air into his lungs. Drool coats his chin and the chocolate is a visible light brown on his tongue. A lusty haze replaces his usual starry twinkles and Yoo Joonghyuk can’t help but preen when he realizes he did this.

“Dokja…” he whispers.

“Joonghyuk… Hyukkie…” He grips Yoo Joonghyuk’s shoulder with unexpected strength. “I want more.”

What the love of his life wants, Yoo Joonghyuk will provide.

Gripping Kim Dokja’s thighs, he hoists the man up. Arms wrap around his neck and legs wrap around his waist as their lips find each other again like magnets. He carries Kim Dokja to the bed, grateful the reader cleaned up his books before he tripped over anything.

He bends over, setting down his lover on the bed. They part to shift into a more comfortable position but he doesn’t pause for long before diving back into the caverns of Kim Dokja’s mouth. His hand wanders around Kim Dokja’s body, slipping under the oversized shirt and twisting the man’s nipples.

The man jolts at the unexpected pain, a high mewl emitted from his throat. He rumbles, aroused at the sound and pulls back, lifting up Kim Dokja’s shirt to reveal pale white skin and two pink nubs. He twists the nipples again and Kim Dokja squirms at the sensation, mouth hung open,

Lowering his torso, Yoo Joonghyuk kisses the man’s belly. His lips leave a trail up, from Kim Dokja’s sternum to his rib cages, each kiss a prayer and worship. When his mouth captures a nipple, he sucks on it lightly, his tongue flicking out to play with it while his hand continues to abuse the other one.

Kim Dokja’s moans fill the room, the rustling of bed sheets as he squirmed under Yoo Joonghyuk creating an erotic symphony. Heavy breathing, high-pitched mewls, the demands of ‘ more, more, more…’

Yoo Joonghyuk’s imagination paled considerably to the real thing.

He’s pulled off the poor nipple and Kim Dokja looks down at him. “I want you to feel good too…”

The man twists himself around and the air is punched out of Yoo Joonghyuk’s gut at the portrait revealed on Kim Dokja’s body.

A black pair of wings stretch across the entirety of the man’s back. It was well-detailed and it felt like anytime, it would come to life and Kim Dokja would fly away.

Kim Dokja had a tattoo. A big one, at that. He hasn’t done a lot of research on tattoos but Yoo Joonghyuk knew they hurt to get. Kim Namwoon had been very vocal about his pain when he got one on his left arm. The one he was seeing right now must have been so much worse.

Yoo Joonghyuk never knew he had a thing for tattoos, but he didn’t know he had a thing for barely functioning men before he met Kim Dokja either.

Lightly tracing the outline of the wings with the tip of his finger, he doesn’t notice Kim Dokja looking nervously at him, his small slender body shuddering.

“Do you dislike it?”

He snaps out of his trance and their eyes meet, his gaze softening at the anxiety his love was so desperately trying to bury. He presses a soft kiss to Kim Dokja’s nape lovingly.

“You’re perfect.”

“Well.” Kim Dokja sends him a grateful smile. “Shall we continue?”

Yoo Joonghyuk hadn’t noticed that the man under him had managed to take off his pants, leaving the lower half of his body exposed. His plump ass presents itself to Yoo Joonghyuk, a meal ready to be eaten. His thighs are shut close, hiding his cock from Yoo Joonghyuk.

Yoo Joonghyuk grips his waist and leans forward, grinding his still clothed cock against Kim Dokja’s ass.

“Hng- Joonghyuk,” Kim Dokja calls, “I haven’t prepared myself so- please just use my thighs.”

Yoo Joonghyuk grunts into his ear in response. He moves away to take off his pants. His cock springs out, hard and leaking precum. Grabbing the length, he shimmies closer against Kim Dokja, slapping his dick twice against the man’s asscheeks before lowering it and plunging into the thighs.

Kim Dokja’s thighs are silky smooth, albeit a bit dry. Yoo pulls back a bit and thrusts back in, the tip of his cock sliding against Kim Dokja’s testicles and shaft, both of them groaning at the friction.

Except, Yoo Joonghyuk pauses when he’s fully sheathed in.

There’s a cold feeling at the tip of his cock; something metallic and contrasting to the warmth surrounding his length.

“Dokja…” it’s the only warning he gives before unceremoniously flipping the smaller man over to see what he had felt.

He was not disappointed.

“You never fail to surprise me.”

Kim Dokja’s cock stood exposed, average size and less girthy than Yoo Joonghyuk’s. It has a slight curve to it, the pink head pearling with white beads of cum. It was the prettiest cock he’d ever seen. What really caught his eye, however, was the fact that it was pierced.

The underside of the cock had what looked to be bar piercings going through it, forming a ladder-like appearance. There were six of them and Yoo Joonghyuk so badly wanted to feel it, so he palms Kim Dokja’s length, the callousness of his hands lubricated by the ever-dripping cum. It was hard to smoothly move his hand up and down due to the resistance of the piercings but he doesn’t stop.

He ignores the throbbing of his hole and dick. He ignores how his mouth watered. Yoo Joonghyuk didn’t need to rush; this will not be the last time.

“Hyuk-ah,” Kim Dokja whines, eyelashes fluttering wetly as he tears up in pleasure. “Want you to feel good too…”

“It’s okay, baby,” he shushes the man. “Let me take care of you first.”

“No.” Legs wrap around him, pulling him closer, his cock rubbing against Kim Dokja’s length. The friction makes them both jolt in pleasure. “Wanna cum together with you. Please?”

Yoo Joonghyuk can’t say no to him. Not when Kim Dokja looked so utterly debauched, minutes away from begging with his wide eyes and flushed skin.

He puts his cock against Kim Dokja’s, mourning how he loses sight of the pretty pink and pierced metals but sighs at warmth against warmth and cool against warmth.

His hand easily encases both of the lengths, using their mixed precum as lubrication. He’s on his knees, one hand on their cocks and the other supporting his body as he hovers over Kim Dokja, kissing the man senseless. He jerks them off, swallowing all of his companion’s moans and groans as he tries to hold back his own.

Between the press of the piercings and warmth against him, and the heavy knowledge that everything he was doing right now was with the love of his life, the man of his dreams, Kim Dokja , it doesn’t surprise him that he cums first. White paints his partner’s belly, a bit flying onto his face. He pushes Yoo Joonghyuk away a bit, breaking their kiss, and looks up at with a sly grin before scooping some of the cum on him and putting it into his mouth.

“Sweet,” Kim Dokja says before very forcefully gulping to make sure Yoo Joonghyuk noticed; he didn’t need to do that. Yoo Joonghyuk was hyperaware of everything about Kim Dokja right now.

“You little minx,” he whispers breathlessly, in awe. Yoo Joonghyuk shuffles on his knees, going back until his face met the still-hardened cock. He takes it into his mouth.

He’d practised blowjobs on his dildo before but he didn’t anticipate Kim Dokja’s add-ons. It was… different. He felt it earlier, of course, the stark contrast of temperatures. He just didn’t think he’d taste the difference between flesh and metal.

As he sinks deeper and deeper, each bar a milestone for how far he’s gotten, he gets used to the taste and the occasional bump of metal against his teeth. When his nose buries into a patch of curly hair, the back of his throat hit perfectly by the slight curve of Kim Dokja’s cock, he flicks his tongue against the metal ends, earning a shaky sigh from Kim Dokja. He’s careful when he bobs his head on the cock; careful not to get stuck on the piercings. Hands find their way to his hair and fingers curl in it, encouraging him.

At some point, the careful precision needed to blow Kim Dokja properly, not to mention his atrocious position, tires him and he instead focuses on the head of the cock. It’s a deeper pink now, almost red, with the way it throbbed pleadingly. He suckles on the tip, leaving light kisses before sliding his tongue through the slit.

It’s the final encouragement Kim Dokja needed before he suddenly shouts, cum spurting on Yoo Joonghyuk’s face, a few he catches in his mouth. He’s sure there’s some in his hair but he couldn’t care any less. He wanted to lick up everything and feel his belly warm up with pieces of Kim Dokja in him.

“Hyuk-ah.” Kim Dokja’s arms are stretched out wide, an invitation for him to stay in his arms.

Perhaps Yoo Joonghyuk will drink up his love’s semen on another day. He crawls into Kim Dokja’s open arms and is encased in a lazy hug immediately.

“I got your pretty face dirty,” the man says, pouting. Fingers wipe away the fluid stuck on Yoo Joonghyuk’s face but it only spreads it, making Kim Dokja panic.

“It’s okay. I like it.” He snuggles into him. “When did you get your tattoo?”

“I had a rebellious phase when I was younger. It hurt so much to get and it took so long to completely heal.” A grin spreads on his face. “It looks really cool, though.”

“It does.” He will not admit that he almost came immediately when he first saw the wings. “Why wings, though?”

Kim Dokja blushes and gingerly looks away. “Well, Sooyoung and I had been brainstorming the plot of the game. I made a character I wanted to add in as an NPC or a boss and he was a demon king. We scrapped the idea but that’s also Salvation’s origin story!”

“You got it because… it was cool?”

“Yup!”

“Hmm… how about your… piercings?”

“I got them for a dare.”

Yoo Joonghyuk stills. “What?”

“Sooyoung dared me into getting them. So I did.”

Yoo Joonghyuk owed Han Sooyoung enough for pestering him into getting sponsored to play her game, consequently leading him to meet Kim Dokja. He did not want to be in debt for what may or may not be one of his new favourite things about Kim Dokja.

“...do you top?” he asks bluntly.

“Yeah, but you looked like you didn’t like being the bottom so I thought-”

“You’re fucking me tomorrow,” Yoo Joonghyuk boldly declares.

The already prominent blush on Kim Dokja’s face glows a brighter red, to the point he looked like a tomato. “What?”

“You,” he emphasizes, ”Are. Fucking. Me. Tomorrow.”

“Why not now?” Kim Dokja teases awkwardly, trying to recover from his embarrassment.

“I haven’t had proper sleep in days because I handmade all of that chocolate. Sleep.”

“Alright,” he chuckles. A pair of lips presses onto Yoo Joonghyuk’s forehead as his eyes droop down. ”Sweet dreams, Hyukkie.”

The last thought on his mind before he drifts off is how Operation “Marry Salvation and Carry His 15 Children” can now resume its course.

Meanwhile…

“Sooyoung-ah, please don’t throw your phone against the wall.”

“I’m homophobic!” Han Sooyoung exclaims passionately.

“You’re a lesbian, darling,” Yoo Sangah sighs, exasperated.

“I’M HOMOPHOBIC, NOT LESBOPHOBIC!”

Yoo Sangah exits the room, but not before snatching away her fiance’s phone. They’ve bought too many replacements already. Just because they came from rich families didn’t mean they could waste money like that.

She’ll leave her beloved to sort out her anger alone.

Meanwhile(2)...

“How do we stop my oppa and your dad from getting married?” Yoo Mia asks, tapping the end of her pencil on the paper they’ve been brainstorming on.

The other two hum in response, Lee Gilyoung scratching his chin and Shin Yoosung tapping her cheek.

“Oh! I have an idea!” the boy exclaims.

Shin Yoosung keeps quiet, content to let her brother speak even when she was sure it wouldn’t be a good idea. A bad idea was better than no idea, especially in desperate times like these.

“Speak, Gilyoung,” Yoo Mia commands sternly, ready to write down whatever Lee Gilyoung was about to say.

“One of my old foster parents used to bring home girls a lot but they always went away when they saw that I was at home,” he explained. “He used to call me a ‘cockblock’ and he’d blame me for why he never got women or something. So! I propose we never leave hyung and that sooty bastard alone.”

“What’s a cockblock?” Shin Yoosung asks.

“I don’t know but Gilyoung’s idea is great!” Yoo Mia exclaims enthusiastically. “Operation: Cockblock will be in motion ASAP.”

Lee Gilyoung throws his hands up in the air in celebration. “We won’t have Mia as our aunt, anymore!”

The two high-five while Shin Yoosung looks on, wondering how exactly they were going to start this operation and what exactly a cockblock was.

She sighs and shrugs it off, choosing not to think about it. Their teacher will come in soon; she’ll ask her what a cockblock was. Adults knew a lot of things, after all. Maybe their teacher will even have more ideas on how to stop the nearing marriage of Yoo Mia’s oppa and her ahjussi.
