Infinity Train: Splinter Group

Summary:

Takes place after Blossoming Trail.

Lucy stuck together with at least another kid after the harsh revelations of the Fog Car, but what if this wasn't the case? What if the truth became too much for her to handle?

And she broke off them to find her own journey home herself?

Work Text:

In the middle of a sandstorm, a black cloaked figure walked across the desert as a wall of text rolled across, narrated by a female voice:

To anybody who reads this journal, and hasn’t decided to burn it yet out of spite, congratulations; you might be better than just about anybody else from this stupid Train.

My name is Lucy. No second name, no family name, just… Lucy.

Once upon a time, I was a lone child taken by the Infinity Train. The reason I was taken is irrelevant; nobody cared about it then, nobody will care about it now. After all, why would anybody care about a stupid, stinky, good-for-nothing Apex?

… I’m sorry if my words come across as harsh but I'm not in the best mood because… so much has happened lately.

The ideals we lived by? A complete and utter lie

Our leader? She didn’t actually know what she was doing.

The Conductor we worshiped? An uncaring old hag who I bet was just using us to ignore her thirty year reign of terror on the Train.

Honestly it’s… it’s just too much. Even if most of us didn’t have numbers big enough that we would never see our families, the fact that we could’ve possibly locked ourselves off from ever seeing them again…

Then again, this is coming from a girl who has no family to return to, so maybe I should change the subject I can actually backup:

I’m leaving. Not the Train, I’m stuck here for a while, but I’m leaving The Apex. There’s basically nothing there for me besides a lifetime of misery and pain because everyone on the Train is just so eager to find a scapegoat to hurt for their own satisfaction.

And yes, I know leaving The Apex won’t decrease the number of people who’ll hunt me down. If anything, they’ll probably increase, thinking that a little girl by her lonesome will be easier to take down than The Apex, maybe they’ll even use it as an excuse to boast themselves up as heroes like the Red Lotus Trio or something.

But guess what? I’m not gonna go down without a fight.

I learned many things from The Apex, most of them not good. But the one thing that applies now more than ever is that we have to fight back, lest we give the Infinity Train the chance to kill us before we learn our lesson.

So, come at me if you want. Just be aware I will go down baring my fangs and taking you all down with me.

With those words spoken, the wall of text left, just in time for robotic mummies to emerge from the ground and surrounded the cloaked figure, who stopped on their tracks.

The figure smirked, and threw away their cloak, revealing themselves to be a young girl with brown hair and an eyepatch covering her left eye.

Upon seeing her, the robot mummies paused to scan her as she took out a handle, and pushed a button to summon the pink energy blade hidden within.

The robot mummies panicked and ran away, giving the girl enough time to charge her blade and swing it, unleashing an energy beam that struck the robot mummies and destroyed them, bringing a smile to her face.
