Work Text:

Puzzles were one of your favorite pastimes. It always came as a stress reliever after a long day in the field. Peter Parker, your best friend of all time, also enjoyed puzzles as much as you did.

He had brought a big box of them with him from his trip. He showed the box to you animatedly explaining each one and solving them with you. Today he brought out one you knew all too well.

The one even its own inventor couldn’t solve.

The one and only, Rubik Cube.

Even you couldn’t solve it, not until you memorized its patterns. So reluctantly Peter lent you his cube so you could study it before solving it.

And you did, you worked hard flipping the cube around in each possible pattern you could. You thanked whatever god was out there for giving you the power of super speed. For once it would come in handy.

You were sitting on your shared bed with Wanda. Crisscross applesauce, with the cube in your hand. Your eyes pierced into the cube's shape, its colors changing faster than light.

You flipped it again, getting the full white side. You huffed, it had been hours and you’d only gotten one side.

“How did Peter do it…” you mumbled, flipping the cube around.

“How did Peter do what?” Came your girlfriend's reply, sitting on her side of the bed.

You shrugged “Nothing. I’m just puzzled…on this puzzle.”

“Maybe you should take a break?” She suggested, wrapping her arms around your waist.

You rolled your eyes facing your girlfriend “you just want my attention.”

The witch raised an eyebrow “Pardon me for wanting to spend time with my girlfriend.” She sneered.

You scoffed, pushing her arms away with a smile “I’m just a pillow to you.” You sighed dramatically, falling back into the pillow.

Wanda snickered at your dramatic display. She fell back against the mattress, wrapping her arms around your arm which was still holding that damn cube.

Your needy girlfriend flung her arm around trying to shift your focus to her instead of the puzzle. You snorted at Wanda’s attempts.

Wanda whined “It’s already time for bed. Can’t you do that tomorrow?” She tried.

“In a minute, lovely, I’m trying to figure this out.” You ran a hand through her hair trying to persuade the witch “As soon as I’m done I’ll give you my undivided attention.”

The witch huffed in annoyance, snuggling closer. Your fingers worked rapidly on the cube. Wanda admired your dedication, but she also admires your undivided attention which she wasn’t getting.

She shifted closer to your neck placing light kisses. At first, you paid no attention to it instead flipping the cube around some more.

Wanda huffed and bit down.

“Ouch! Wanda!” You yelled, rubbing your neck.

Truthfully it didn’t hurt that much.

Wanda stared lovingly at you, feigning innocence as if she hadn’t just bit you.

You glared at the witch, a glare that soon faltered. You always had a weakness for her green eyes. With a defeated grunt you put down the cube on your bedside table, leaving it to rest until tomorrow.

Wanda smiled brightly as you opened your arms for her. You shook your head at the witch, Peter could never know you were this soft for her. Wanda expressed her gratitude by placing a quick kiss on your cheek before disappearing back into the crook of your neck where she belonged.

Using her powers, she turned off the lights encasing you both in darkness. Finally, Wanda could rest.

You ran your fingers through her scalp, looking at the ceiling in front of you.

“You know…it’s a good thing you weren’t solving the cube or else we never would’ve gone to bed.” You chuckled at the thought.

Wanda hummed contently, not paying much attention to your words “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I mean…I’m a genius and even I couldn’t solve it. If you tried it we would’ve been up for days.” You laughed once again, this time more nervous.

“Give me the damn cube.”

———————————————

“What did you do?!” Peter yelled, completely flabbergasted.

You scratched your neck looking at the broken Rubik’s cube in your friend's hands. Wanda glared red daggers at the broken pieces.

“Well…Wanda got kinda mad and broke it.”

“It’s impossible- that stupid piece of-“ You held Wanda back from causing the cube any more peril than it had already suffered.

“And so you threw it at the wall?!” Peter complained

You sucked your teeth ``There was more than just throwing but yes basically…” You shivered recalling the blowtorch that was involved that night.

Peter shook his head in disappointment “Well I guess it’s fine, I could get another one at least it wasn’t the Megaminx.”

Wanda tilted her head curiously “Megaminx?”

Peter eyed the witch, quickly grabbing the box of puzzles he had brought “No.” He whimpered, running out with the box.

Wanda quickly chased after him “Peter!! Let me see it!”

You sighed, rubbing your head. You already knew you’d be owning Peter a new collection.
