Work Text:
Jen was running excitedly to the hospital base. "We're home, Pat! We're actually home! Lenny is gone and-"
She was interrupted by Boulder. "You don't know if he will come back, though."
Behind him, Notch was muttering, "I can't believe you gave him the Core to my house!"
"Chill, man," Pat said, "it's probably destroyed now from the lava bombs."
"That doesn't make it any worse!"
Carter scurried forward. "Jen! You did such an amazing job taking down Herobrine-"
"Um, Carter, we did it together," Pat said, only to be pushed away.
"How did you take down Lenny, anyway?"
"Ohh, um... I, er, put some poison in that ant cake and gave it to him as a gift. He ate it and then when we came back, he was lying on a death bed... I feel so bad!"
"He was a bad person," Pat stated.
"I don't think we should have poisoned him! He said that he regretted everything in the end, too..."
"What about Herobrine?" Dr. Boom added. "What happened to him?"
"Lava bombs never fail," Jen said.
Notch was frowning. "Yes, but he's Herobrine. He knows stuff that even I don't, but I know things that he doesn't. Lava would hurt him, but he'll be back."
"And when he does, I'll step on him like the puny ant that he is," Boulder grunted.
Lisa was being assisted by Dr. Pain to the hospital base. He was very jittery from the zombies and possible dangers, but getting some fresh air and walking around would help him, according to Pain.
"Psst, Jen," Pat whispered, pulling Jen aside from the group of people leaving the giant golden apple to the small hospital by the sea.
"Yeah?"
"What if Lisa gets suspicious of you, again?"
"We can just blame it on Evil Jen, she looks just like me!"
"That's true." Something in the distance caught his eye. "Oh, is that-"
"Honey Boo-Boo!" Jen cried, excitedly, running up to the friendly iron golem and giving her a hug. "Wow, you're so skinny- Hang on, I think I have a cookie for you!" She dug around in her bag. "Honey Boo-Boo... dinner's ready!" She threw the cookie to the golem who caught it, eating it with one massive gulp, in return, gave Jen a hug again. The disguised man came trailing behind, rather slow and still dressed like a zombie.
"You save us," he said, smiling through his mask. "Thank you."
"No problem," Pat said, aiming hid Death Machine and shooting down a couple of zombies limping their way over to the group. "When do you think the zombies will leave?"
"Probably not for a while," The Disguised Man said, turning to walk towards the hospital with the group. "Herobrine's still out there and he's the one who brought them into the world, but things have definitely settled since Lenny died and you blew up his clone."
Overhearing the conversation between the three, Dr. Pain said, "so this is our world now?"
"It appears to be," Notch answered, stopping at the wall around the hospital. "This is where I leave you guys."
"You're not going to stay?" Jen asked.
Notch shook his bald head. "Wherever Herobrine goes, I follow. Right now he's well away from all of you, I sense. I want the core back to my house and I'm going to get it. No thanks to you guys." He turned around and started walking back.
"Well, um, see you, I guess," Pat shrugged.
---
It was much later, the sun was going down, but torches were lit everywhere so everyone could see. Bomby, the creeper minion and Pat's friend, came running out to greet Pat like an excited dog when they arrived. Now the three- Jen, Pat, and Bomby, sat on the roof of the hospital together watching the sun set below the watery horizon.
Below them, the Disguised Man was with Honey Boo-Boo, walking along the beach together. Liza and Dr. Pain were working together to get Liza to bed. Boulder was watching over the wall.
"I wonder where the others are..." Jen said, eyes staring off far away.
"What do you mean?"
"You know, everyone who we've met along the way... The Mayor, Valentine, Hoss, Captain Cookie, Allie, Chewwy, Chad-"
"I wonder what happened to him. He left his skull-bathing kit down there," Pat said, pointing to a cauldron which was rusted and the water turned brown. "I'm concerned about Bob."
"We should find Evil Jen," Jen eventually said.
"Why?"
"I'm worried about her."
"Weren't we going to blame her if Lisa got suspicious of you?"
"Yes, but I still care about her. She's my sister."
"I suppose."
"But not today. Today and tomorrow, we get settled and make this place a home."
"That sounds good," Pat agreed, finally taking off his helmet.
They each bore a lot of battle scars from the constant attacks from zombies, bombs, and accidental gunshots on each other. The most noticeable one on Pat was the recent burns from the lava bomb, snaking their way up his arms, back, neck, and part of his face. Jen was less scarred, but she limped around from constantly falling in holes.
That didn't matter.
For now, it was a time of peace and recovery.
For now they could enjoy the sunset with tomorrow to care about once it was here.
