'Mmmm, Devon.''
Miriam says, smirking as they stare at Devon, the store clerk who works at the local Daisy Mart. He has black hair with pretty ocean eyes and freckles on his nose as well as cheeks a bit.
''My mom cuts his hair at the salon and i felt it. IT'S VERY SOFT!,'' Abby said as she gritted her teeth.
''Woah, can I have some?,'' Priya asked.
''Yeah! Hook a sister up Abby!''
''He looks like so attractive...'' Mei swoons as they look at Devon with dreamy eyes.
'' Ugh. He looks like a hobo,'' Bo snorts as she jumps off of the girls.
''A HOT hobo,'' Abby corrects jumping off the wall as well. After that, they all get up from the floor and look at Mei.
''Might I remind you what REAL men look like?,'' Mei wipes out a 4*Town magazine and they all swoon as they put their hands on their faces.
''4TOWN!!!''
''Jesse went to art school.''
Jesse was Priya's favorite member.
''Tae Young fosters injured doves.''
Tae Young was Abby's favorite member.
''And also Aaron T. and Aaron Z. are really talented too!''
Aaron T. was Miriam's favorite member and Aaron Z. was Bo's second favorite.
''And Robaire speaks french!''
Robaire was Mei and Bo's #1 favorite member.
''We are 4*Townies, remember? Ride or die!''
The girls imagine themselves in a sunset setting on top of a mountain surrounded by the 4*Town members.
''Yeah, but like, tickets to 4*Town are like, a bajillion dollars and Devon's right here.'' Priya says, snapping them back to reality.
''And he's free!,'' Abby finished.
Mei pouts her foot on the floor and that's when they hear a train in the distance.
''Mei! Our train!,'' Bo says frantically.
''Ah fudgesickles, we gotta go, Bo,'' Mei says as she grabs Bo by the arm and drags her before Miriam stopped them.
''Wait! We're going karokeing tonight!''
''Yeah!''
''You two should go.''
They all beg the two girls while looking at them with puppy eyes. ''We... can't. It's cleaning day!''
''Mei, every day is cleaning day! Why can't you two just lay it off for once?'' Miriam asks.
''But, we like cleaning days,'' Mei replied. ''Plus, me and Bo got this new feather duster and omg, it picks up SO much dirt! You wouldn't believe it!'' The trio looks uninterested.
''Just go ONCE. Maybe your mom would understand.''
''Are you kidding? My mom would be disappointed in us. I wouldn't want that.''
''Fine,'' Miriam sighs. ''I'll let you two go...'' She looks at Priya and Abby with a smirk. ''... IF you guys can pass the GAUNLET!!''
She starts to dance and bumps into Mei and Bo. ''C'mon, you guys!''
''Jee, Mir...'' Mei said. ''Here we go!''
''You're never not on my mind, oh my oh my...'' All 4 of the girls started to sing. |
''I'm never not by your side, your side, your side!''
''That was good!''
''Dope.''
Miriam puts a hand around both of the sisters. ''You both passed! Here are your awards!'' She wipes out 2 big CDs from her backpack. ''1990 Australian Tour with Girl, I Love U Remix.''
They both can't help but hold in their excitement and squel as they clutch the CD to their chest.
''We'll going Karaokeing another time, I promise!,'' Mei hollers as they run to the train.
When they got to the temple, Bo and Mei say hello to the 2 red panda statues that guard the place. Then they go to the kitchen and see their mother, Ming Lee. Standing there with her arms crossed.
She turnes to face them with a serious expression on her face which then turnes in to a nervous one. ''Mei-Mei, Bo, there you are! ''
''Hey Mom!''
''You guys are 10 minutes late! Where have you been? What happened? Are you hungry? Hurt?'' She says as she examines both Mei and Bo's face for any injuries and then stuffs dumplings in their mouths.
''So, how was school?''
''Haha! It was great, as usual.''
''We got a good score on our exams!'' Bo shouted and she and Mei held their exams to her face.
''Those are my little scholars! Today honor students, tomorrow secretary general!'' She takes their exams and places them on the table.
''The ancestors would be proud.'' Ming passes out some of her infamous dumplings to them and they eat. After that, they put the dishes away and got some cleaning supplies out.
''Ready, you two?''
''Mhm!''
''Let's do this!''
They sweep the temple and clean it. Some teenage boys came to litter around the temple, but Ming ses them and scares them away.
''I'm going to tell your mother!'' Ming shouts at them as she raises her broom in the air. The sisters share a laugh and once Ming sees, she joins in.
Bo and Mei are in the temple the two red panda statues guard. Ming sets down a tray on the table with three bowls, three candles, and three chopsticks. She grabs three big chopsticks and pulls out three red pillows for them to sit on.
Ming pulls out a lighter and burns the ends of the sticks so smoke can come. She hands them to Mei and Bo and they began their prayer.
''Sun Yee, revered ancestor...''
Mei and Bo peak to look at the poster of Sun Yee with the two red pandas by her side.
''... guardian of the red pandas, We humbly thank you for protecting and guiding us...''
She peaks to look at her two daughters. ''... especially Mei-Mei and Bo.'' They both smile at her.
''May we continue to serve and honor you and this community. Always.''
All three bow down at the same time. Ming puts the supplies away and they all walk outside.
They breath in, listen to the sounds of the water, the wind howling, and the birds singing.
Breath out.
