Chapter Text
Everything was a blur and blinding light for Anne one minute she was holding a…familiar pair of hands in space, the next she was sitting on a floating island, lost.
Then back standing in the water having no clue of where she was.
Her brain was fuzzy, seeing distant figures running towards her as she faced towards them. She couldn’t tell who anyone was. She didn’t think to much into it since her vision was blurred and out of place so she would really determine who they were later, but all she knew is most of them felt..familiar and what she knew was familiar meant safe and safe meant home.
(…)
Sprig held his bestfreind tight to his chest, tears rolling down his face “don’t cry sprig it’s ok, saving this world was the best decision I’ve ever made…” Anne started, Sprig listening carefully to his sisters last words “my only regret is that…I never got to see love choice 2..” in a time like this he should’ve not laughed but he did a little at Anne’s joke heck even polly and hop pop did, it seemed like a joke Anne would casually make and that made him happy for a split second.
Until his bestfreind before his eyes flew out of his life turning into grey leaves in the process. He wanted to scream. He wanted to sob his throat out until his lungs gave up. He wanted to start jumping as high as he could to try and catch the lose leaves now high in the air. But his body gave up to do any of those. Sprig just sat there watching them fly away never to be seen again, but managed to keep one tightly gripped in his left hand. Anne. The only word in his brain. Anne. AnneAnneanneanneANNEANNEENANEE. Everyone was sobbing trying not to let it all out especially the planters and Sasha and Marcy.
Sprig didn’t know how long it had been but he suddenly heard a splashing sound a distant away from him. He looked up to see Anne looking confused, sitting in the shallow water. Sprigs eyes started to tear up, he looked around everyone else but no one had noticed. All of a sudden he said out loud “Anne…?” Everyone looked at him shocked and confused by why he just said the now dead hero’s name.
Marcy looked at where sprig was looking and gasped seeing Anne alive and still here again. It was a chained reaction Sasha looked at why Marcy gasped and then so did polly when Sasha gasped and it went on. All of them staring at Anne who just looked lost and silent, not even noticing them looking at her.
“ANNE!” Sprig shouted running to Anne jumping to hug her, followed by the planters,Frobo and Marcy and Sasha. They all layed on top of her hugging her and crushing her at the same time. Anne just looked even more confused and emotionless, staring at them like they were insane. “How are you back?!” Sprig questioned quickly almost shouting which made Anne jump “I mean it’s great that your back but how?” Anne just looked down at sprig tilting her head as he hugged her around the waist. She didn’t reply and everyone was starting to get concerned. After a couple of minutes waiting for Anne’s response, Marcy Finnally perked up and put her hands on either sides of Anne’s cheek looking at her forhead and eyes “maybe…she has a concussion? When we got transported to amphibia we fell from the sky…maybe she came back from there?” Now that made them even more worried trying to search for answers.
Marcy searched into Anne’s eyes now noticing they were the same shade of the hearts clamity stone blue, but unfortunately she noticed that Anne looked like she had no recognition of anyone standing in front of her which made her stomach twist in a uncomfortable way.
Sprig pulled on Anne’s hand making Anne turn away from Marcy’s gaze. “Anne…do you understand me?” Sprig said anxiously, Anne took a couple of seconds before slowly nodding. With that answer he sighed relieved at that answer, even though lots of things seemed to be wrong with Anne at the moment.
After a couple more minutes Hop pop sighed “we should set up camp near by it’s getting dark…we will figure out Anne’s situation later” after hearing Hop pops suggestion everyone agreed (we’ll expect for Anne she was in a daze not even seeming to hear Hop pop) everyone was so tired from fighting and the whole war they just got some tents out of the wagons and
Went to bed after setting up.
Lady Olivia and Grime made sure that some of the newts that were awake would lock andrais up immediately before anything else happens.
Sprig made sure to look after Anne for a while and try to figure out what’s wrong with her. He didn’t really care much how she got back. All he cared about was Anne being here, safe and with him. They set up a big tent with two sides, one with Sasha and Marcy sleeping together the other with the planters since they wanted Anne to be comfortable and since she had stuck by them for the rest of the evening and not going to anyone else like they were her only life support.
Sprig,Marcy and Anne sat in the middle bit of the tent where the chairs and table were. While Sasha had gone to bed because of her back and Hop pop and Polly were just tired.
They sat in silent for a bit until Marcy suggested “I think we should get her to see a doctor or something…” Sprig just sighed and looked at Anne giving a emotionless face to the two it had been hard for Sprig all evening, he hoped Anne would’ve talked Atleast a word by now but nothing and she didn’t even seem to notice much when people were talking “I don’t know Marcy…everyone’s going to be going back home tomorrow and re-building and the doctors here are different from the ones from your world they won’t understand how her body works..” sprig replied. “I wasn’t talking about her body-“ Marcy confessed Sprig looked at her confused and Marcy must of noticed “I was talking about her mental health or I don’t know-“ she mumbled looking to the ground.
Suddenly Anne made the first noise this evening making a sort of mumbling in between humming sound looking rather sleepy rocking her head up and down. With that both Marcy and Sprig jumped at the sudden noise (that was quite) Sprig jumped into action springing to Anne’s side asking if she was ok constantly.
Anne’s head flopped down onto the table like a rag doll, fainting in the process. The other two was on high alert about this trying to wake up Anne but nothing worked. “WHAT DO WE DO SPRIG?!” Marcy exclaimed adrenaline rushing through her body “UH-“ Sprig stuttered for words, he didn’t know frog he was a kid but he had to help his sister some way. Anne had fainted before multiple times actually but all those times was when she used her calamity powers and they had gone now…probably. Panicking he tried to get water and splash it on Anne but it didn’t work. “Sprig…let’s just take her to bed? She’s still breathing which is a relief” Marcy said he legs shaking, sprig nodded and helped Anne onto a mattress in Marcy and Sasha’s room.
“Hey Marcy?” Sprig said just when was leaving the door of the tent Marcy perked up showing she was listening “can I sleep here with you all tonight?…I don’t really want to leave Anne’s side-“ Marcy understood perfectly what he was going through frog she experienced it herself being separated from someone and thinking if you leave them, something bad well happen to them. She didn’t want to leave Anne’s side either. “Of course sprig, get your stuff!” She replied smiling sadly thinking about all the stuff that had happened in the last days at the same time.
Sprig left to get his stuff and Marcy watched Anne peacefully sleep, gently she leaned in and kissed Anne on the forehead “don’t worry…” she whispered to herself “we’re going to sort this out I promise-“
•a couple of hours later in the night after sprig his got his stuff set up•
Marcy couldn’t sleep for obvious reasons every time she tried to shut her eyes the flame sword would show or the core or Anne turning into leaves.
She was traumatized from everything, trying to distract herself she looked around the dim room. Sasha was asleep like a rock but she did really need it, sprig was half asleep ever so often he would open his eyes for a couple of seconds before closing them again for another 20 minutes or so and Anne hadn’t even flinched seeming more dead then asleep. Which scared Marcy even more.
Marcy crouched down to still check that Anne was actually breathing to her relief, she was but it was shallow.
“Marcy?” Sprig suddenly said half asleep, that made Marcy jump out of her skin at the sudden response. “Oh…sprig your awake…” Marcy bluntly said trying not to sound annoyed at him, she was just tired “is…she still..” sprig started, marcy knew exactly what he was trying to say and she didn’t want to here the word “don’t worry she is…but she’s breathing very shallow” with that sprig frowned. “All we can do is hope she well be ok sprig..” Marcy sighed and sprig agreed. Both of them going back to bed and trying to sleep but of course they couldn’t.
