could it be wrong, when shes just so nice to look at?

Summary:

“Gill? Are you good?” Jay asked, snapping Gillion’s eyes back onto her face instead of just her eyes.

“Yes, why wouldn't I be?”

“Well, uh, normally you dont like eye contact. And you just stared into my eyes for two minutes straight,” Jay smiled fondly at Gillion.

Work Text:

The Albatross was docked at Allport, and it was just Gillion and Jay on the ship.

It was a nice day, so Jay suggested she braid Gillions hair for a bit and they can just… talk.

Which is why they're both sitting on barrels in the middle of the deck.

Jay was braiding Gillions hair in the front, intricately weaving the hair together. She would occasionally add little clips or shells because in the undersea, they would weave trinkets like shells and coral into your hair during celebrations. It reminded Gillion of home.

“I'm not pulling your hair, right?” Jay whispered, leaning back from where she was braiding to look at Gillion.

Gillion almost forgot what question she had asked him, just looking at her. It was insane to him how stunning Jay was, even with a glance.

“No. It's nice,” Gillion smiled at her, holding out his hand and letting Pretzel climb up his arm and onto his shoulder.

Gillion always liked Jay. He looked up to her since they met, and she's always found a way to make Gillion smile.

He tried to look at what Jay was intricately braiding into his hair, but his eyes couldn’t stop trailing over to her eyes.

Two beautiful, orange and blue eyes.

She was warm, too. Ever since one of her eyes turned orange she's been warmer than usual. Not like Chip levels of warmth, he’s a walking furnace. Jay is more like sitting in the sun, a nice cool breeze occasionally coming by.

She was so nice to just sit by, and her eyes, god, her eyes.

Gillion couldn't let himself look away. The way sparks danced around in her orangey red eye just mesmerized Gillion, fire was one of the newest things to him, but it was so pretty on Jay.

Let alone her blue eyes. Before she got her magic eye, she only had the blue and Gillion still could not get himself to stop staring. It reminded him of the ocean, and home , yet it was still so, so Jay.

Jay had already finished braiding the tritons hair and was just looking at him. Pretzel had hopped off of Gillion and into the pile of shells and other garb to put in Gill's hair.

“I finished. Do you like it?” Jay asked, digging through some of her stuff and pulling out a mirror that was undeniably a little fucked up. The wooden handle was chipped, and the mirror itself was cracked at all the edges. You could still see yourself in it though, which is probably why she still has it.

As for what Gillion looked like, he loved it. The front two chunks of his hair  were braided perfectly, and the little shells and pink coral weaved  into it made it perfect. The braids were tied together by pink ribbon.

Jay had already practiced braiding his texture of hair by doing it with smaller chunks around his head, and all of it together looked perfect.

“I love it, Jay,”

Jay smiled at him before lunging in to squeeze the air out of his lungs in a giant hug. It was warm, it was Jay, and it was home.

Gillion could not ask for more.
