Tang Mo had already put the popcorn on the stove, and he was patiently waiting for them to get ready, when the phone rang. He frowned, staring at it for a few seconds, then he grabbed it and pressed the button to pick up the call.
“Who’s this?” The person on the other line asked in a low, metallic voice.
“You called me,” Tang Mo blinked, clearly confused, “who’s this?”
“Right, I guess I did,” the voice hummed, and Tang Mo immediately realized that he was quoting Scream 1996.
“Who’s there?” He asked, even though he had his suspicion.
“You should never ask who’s there~” the voice replied, confirming all of Tang Mo’s doubts, “don’t you watch horror movies? It’s a death wish.”
“Bai Ruoyao,” the guy sighed, turning off the stove and picking up the pan with his hands while he used his shoulder to keep the phone on his ear, “what do you want?”
“Why must I want something?! Can’t I call you without an actual reason?” The other protested, pretending to be offended, “what if I just wanted to hear my dear friend’s voice?!”
“Well you did, so can I hang up now?” Tang Mo replied, placing the pop-corn in a bowl and picking up the phone with his hands again.
“No, Tang Tang, wait!” Bai Ruoyao desperately yelled, and Tang Mo sighed, exhausted.
“What?” He asked in a hiss, “I was about to watch a movie, you know?”
“A movie alone? On Halloween night? That’s so lame, Tang Tang~” Bai Ruoyao teased him, and Tang Mo felt his patience fly out of the window at that.
“I’m just gonna hang up if you’ve got nothing to say,” he said, knowing fully well that he wouldn’t do that, or Bai Ruoyao might have appeared on his doorstep and rang the doorbell for the whole night — it had happened before.
“No, wait! I’m having a party! At my house, you’re going to love it~” Bai Ruoyao finally revealed his true goal, and Tang Mo sighed.
“Why the hell should I want to come to your party?” He asked, “Chen Shanshan’s dad is going to drop her at my house in a few minutes, I don’t have time for a party.”
“Watching a movie alone with the kid you’re babysitting on Halloween night?” Bai Ruoyao gasped, “my, Tang Tang! You’re basically begging Michael Myers to kill you!”
“Very funny,” the boy rolled his eyes, “I’m serious, Bai Ruoyao, I won’t come.”
“No way! I told Fu Wenduo that you’d be here, that’s the only reason why he accepted to come!” Bai Ruoyao pretended to cry and wail, “what will I do?! Everyone will think that I'm a liar and I’ll get bullied!”
“As if I believe that,” Tang Mo snorted, “Fu Wenduo would have known that I would never willingly be there.”
“I told him that you accepted only because he was there~” The other shamelessly admitted, and Tang Mo had to hold himself back from snapping the phone in half, “but it’s fine, I’ll find another cute boy for him. I just hope that this won’t destroy all the progress you’ve made until now.”
“How do you—” Tang Mo hissed, then he stopped and shook his head, “when does your stupid party start?”
“It’s already started~” Bai Ruoyao replied, and Tang Mo could feel his grin even through the phone, “you can bring Chen Shanshan, Fu Wenduo told me that he’s bringing his cousin because he needs to babysit him. They can stay in my room, I’ve got games and a TV.”
“Okay,” Tang Mo sighed, passing a hand on his face: he was already regretting it, and he wasn’t even there yet.
“Oh, one last thing!” Bai Ruoyao gasped, and the other wished very hard to strangle him, “it’s a costume party, so remember to wear a costume~”
Tang Mo opened his mouth to protest, but Bai Ruoyao had already hung up, and he found himself staring at the phone with an angry expression.
The doorbell rang, and the guy jumped, snapping out of his murderous thoughts — all directed to a certain baby-faced youth.
“Coming!” He yelled, placing the phone down and running to the entrance.
Once he opened the door, Chen Shanshan and her father smiled at him on the doorstep.
“I’ll be back to get her tomorrow's morning, is that okay?” The man asked.
“Of course,” Tang Mo nodded, taking the girl’s hand, “see you tomorrow, sir.”
“See you tomorrow, dad,” the little girl waved goodbye, and Tang Mo closed the door behind them.
“Chen Shanshan, we need to prepare and go out,” the guy announced once they were alone.
“Weren’t we watching a movie today?” The girl asked, confused.
“Forget the movie! There’s years and years of progress on the line here!” The guy hissed, thinking back to Bai Ruoyao’s words and getting even angrier, “anyway, Fu Wengshen will be there, you don’t need to worry.”
“Okay then!” The girl, who had more or less understood what was going on, smiled brightly and nodded.
Tang Mo picked her up and went to get his house and car keys and the wallet, before exiting the house.
“We’ll need to buy some costumes,” he warned the girl, “as soon as I see that baby-faced idiot, he’s dead.”
.𖥔 ݁ ˖🕸️🕷.𖥔 ݁ ˖
In the meantime, said baby-faced idiot was giggling after closing the call.
“Did Fu Wenduo also say yes?” He asked, turning towards Mu Huixue.
“He did!” The girl replied, and the two hand-shaked while grinning mischievously.
“Did you even think this thing through?” Ning Zheng, who had been forced by his two childhood friends to take part in their messed up plan, finally spoke up, “they haven’t confessed to each other after three years of pining. What makes you think that they will today?”
“Oh, Ning Ning, you’re so stupid~” Bai Ruoyao sighed melodramatically, resting all of his weight against the other.
“Don’t call me stupid!” Ning Zheng hissed, glad that Bai Ruoyao had his eyes closed and couldn’t see the red on his cheeks, “I’m just saying! What’s so special about Halloween?”
“It’s Halloween!” Bai Ruoyao exclaimed, as if that explained it, “the day of love~”
“Halloween is not the day of love,” Ning Zheng replied, looking at the other with an unimpressed expression.
“It’s the bridge effect,” Mu Huixue explained, clearly aware that they would have gone on like that for the whole night if she didn’t do something about it, “Halloween is the night of fear, and fear means adrenaline, and adrenaline means kissing.”
“Oh, now I get it,” the other admitted, and Bai Ruoyao gasped in betrayal.
“That’s exactly what I said!” He protested, “Ning Ning must really hate me~”
“Sure, whatever,” the guy rolled his eyes to the sky, turning his attention back to Mu Huixue, “so, what’s the plan?”
“Okay so, look at this,” Bai Ruoyao smirked, getting up and pointing at his Batman costume, “I’m Batman, aren’t I?”
“I’d say that you have ADHD,” Ning Zheng corrected him, “but if that makes you happy then sure, you’re Batman.”
“Oh, you think I only have ADHD~” Bai Ruoyao beamed, “flattering; I mean, I’m dressed as Batman, aren’t I?”
Ning Zheng nodded, and his childhood friend continued.
“Well, under my Batman costume, I actually have a Ghostface costume,” the guy kept going, smirking evilly, “but obviously, Tang Tang and Major Fu don’t know that! Which means that they’ll get scared when I’ll attack them in the basement, and they’ll protect each other and get close to each other.”
“That’s such a dumb plan,” Ning Zheng commented, “Tang Mo will realize that it’s you, like, immediately.”
“That’s why I’ll be there,” Bai Ruoyao smirked, taking out the vocal modifier that he had used before to scare Tang Mo and handing it to Mu Huixue, “or my twin will be there.”
“Eheh, Ning Ning, we have a second Batman costume~” Mu Huixue smirked, using the vocal modifier to get her voice to sound like Bai Ruoyao’s, “as long as we wear our Batman masks, they won’t recognize us.”
“Huh, this is actually not such a bad plan,” Ning Zheng commented, “I bet it wasn’t Bai Ruoyao’s idea.”
“Hey, Ning Ning!” The guy in question protested, “you’re right, but do you have to say it like that?”
“But why not just put Mu Huixue in the Ghostface suit, then?” Ning Zheng asked, tilting his head to the side.
“I suggested that at first, because that would have been easier,” the girl agreed, then she pointed at Bai Ruoyao and explained: “He insisted that he wanted to attack Tang Mo himself.”
“Of course, I’m the only one who can truly tick off Tang Tang~” Bai Ruoyao confirmed, “you see, we have such a special relationship! He refuses to admit it, but I’m sure he considers me as his best friend!”
“You’re delusional,” Ning Zheng huffed, starting to feel annoyed, “he hates you.”
“He does not hate me !” Bai Ruoyao gasped, softly hitting Ning Zheng’s shoulder and pretending to cry, “he adores me, he just doesn’t know that yet!”
Ning Zheng didn’t say anything, as his unamused frown deepened and he stared at the table. When he finally raised his eyes, he noticed Mu Huixue smirking at him, and his whole face reddened in shame.
“Well then, let’s get this over with!” He huffed, getting up and storming outside, “stupid party and stupid Halloween day and stupid people and stupid Bai Ruoyao and stupid—”
“What is wrong with him?” Bai Ruoyao blinked, confused.
“Who knows,” Mu Huixue shrugged, smirking, “maybe he’s on his period?”
“There can be only one of us on his period at once, and today it’s my turn,” the other shook his head, “I think that it’s puberty.”
For a second, the girl almost felt some pity for her childhood friend, whose crush thought that he was in puberty and not in love; then she remembered that he was in love with Bai Ruoyao, and she decided that Ning Zheng deserved all the bad luck he had.

“I think that this way I’ll only embarrass myself,” Tang Mo commented, for the 31163th time in the last five minutes, “maybe we should just go back home.”
“I’m sure Fu Wenduo will love it,” Chen Shanshan deadpanned, just like she had one all the other times when Tang Mo had voiced his doubts, “me, on the other hand…”
“It’s adorable,” Tang Mo commented and, although his expression was as emotionless as usual, Chen Shanshan knew that he really meant it.
She looked at herself in the car mirror again, blinking at the toothpaste-shaped costume that enveloped her, and she rolled her eyes to the sky. Luckily, her classmates wouldn’t be there, or her reputation would have been ruined forever; the only way to convince Tang Mo to go to that party, other than reminding him of Fu Wenduo’s presence at least ten times, was for him to choose her costume. And, out of all the costumes, the fashion-sense-less gay teen had chosen a toothpaste costume. Honestly, if she didn’t know him well enough, she might have suspected that he had chosen that costume so that they would have been embarrassed together.
Partially, it had been Tang Mo’s fault: after all, people usually buy their Halloween costumes some days before Halloween itself, so it was to be expected that the shelves would have been empty. For the most part, it had been Bai Ruoyao’s fault, as usual, since he hadn’t talked about this party before.
Anyway, whichever fault it was, Tang Mo was now driving in a magical girl costume, fuming in embarrassment and anger, and Chen Shanshan found it a little funny. To be honest, after getting over the fact that a grown male teenager was wearing a magical girl costume, Tang Mo didn’t look bad at all: but that was something that the kid would have never said out loud, unless she wanted to get murdered.
The car finally stopped, but Tang Mo didn’t go out, hitting his head against the wheel.
“I want to die,” he complained, “I’m going to turn around and get us back home, this was so stupid.”
Chen Shanshan rolled her eyes to the sky but, before she could say anything, someone knocked on the car window on Tang Mo’s side. The two people in the car both jumped in surprise, turning around to look at Fu Wenduo, who was smiling at them. He was wearing a Spiderman costume, extremely tight on the chest, with his mask off, and waving for them to get down.
“Suddenly you’re glad to be here, aren’t you?” Chen Shanshan commented, noticing Tang Mo staring at Fu Wenduo’s chest, “you’re drooling.”
“Thank you,” the guy coughed, passing a hand on his mouth and unlocking the car.
Fu Wenduo opened the car door for him, which made Chen Shanshan roll her eyes to the sky, then he helped Tang Mo to step down.
Instead of greeting each other like normal people would, Fu Wenduo immediately attacked Tang Mo, who skillfully avoided the hit and pressed him against the car.
“Good evening,” Fu Wenduo smiled up at the other, completely unaffected by the fact that his back was resting on the car’s hood.
“Good evening,” Tang Mo smiled, finally backing away and helping the other up.
Chen Shanshan didn’t know why they always greeted each other like that — it must have been some homosexual habit, she probably needed to study more about it.
“Nice costume,” Fu Wenduo commented, “is Mario also going to be there?”
Chen Shanshan face-palmed, while Tang Mo just stared blankly at Fu Wenduo, clearly not understanding what he had just said.
“Is there— Isn’t that a Peach costume, from Super Mario?” The guy in question blinked after a while.
“No it’s not,” Tang Mo deadpanned, “it’s a magical princess costume, and I’d rather not talk about it.”
“Got it,” Fu Wenduo coughed in embarrassment, and Chen Shanshan found him slightly pitiful.
“You’re Spiderman?” Tang Mo finally smiled, “it suits you.”
“You think so?” Fu Wenduo hummed, a bit embarrassed, “it was the only costume left, so it’s a bit tight, especially on the chest.”
“Yeah, I can see that,” Tang Mo coughed, and Fu Wenduo looked at him confused, “anyway, is Fu Wengshen also here?”
“Oh yes, he’s right here,” Fu Wenduo nodded with an amused expression, turning around and yelling at a tree, “come on, stop hiding! Chen Shanshan is here!”
Slowly, the little kid stepped out from the tree’s shadow, and Tang Mo had to hold back a gasp. Fu Wengshen was dressed up as a toothbrush, clearly unwillingly, seeing his embarrassed expression and the toy plane in his hands.
“Chen Shanshan, get out!” Tang Mo gasped, and the girl rolled her eyes to the sky, getting down from the car.
As soon as she saw Fu Wengshen, she grimaced and glared at the two men. Why must the children pay for their childishness?! Still, Fu Wengshen didn’t seem to mind; on the contrary, he beamed when he noticed that Chen Shanshan was dressed like him, clearly happy not to be alone in that shame, and ran up to her.
“Sister Shanshan, how are you?” He smiled, happily jumping in place.
“I’m fine, I’m fine,” she sighed, taking his hand like a big sister and leading him towards Bai Ruoyao’s house, to leave the two teenagers alone.
“I was serious though,” Fu Wenduo coughed after some awkward minutes of silence, “this costume really looks good on you.”
“Can we please not talk about it?” Tang Mo groaned, grabbing the gown and stomping towards the house, his mind completely set on the idea of murdering Bai Ruoyao.
“Be careful,” Fu Wenduo said, running behind him and offering his arm, “here, it’s hard to walk with a gown. I know that very well.”
Tang Mo thought back about the spectacle of Fu Wenduo’s class from last year, where they had collectively bullied the guy into dressing up as Cinderella; poor Fu Wenduo had also been forced to go around and give out flyers dressed like that, and he had admitted that his admiration for women had greatly increased after that day, because going around in a dress had revealed itself as a very hard task. Suddenly, Tang Mo’s embarrassment decreased, as the guy smiled fondly at the other and grabbed the arm that he was offering.
The two teenagers reached Bai Ruoyao’s house, and Tang Mo violently knocked on the door.
“Major Fu, Tang Tang~” Bai Ruoyao greeted them, dressed in a terrible Batman costume, “wow, you both look very good~ Tang Tang especially, you look—”
Tang Mo sent a punch towards the other, who avoided it just by a few seconds.
“Wow, let’s not get so violent, the evening has just started~” Bai Ruoyao sang, stepping back while Fu Wenduo held back Tang Mo from trying to punch him again.
“Hi guys,” Mu Huixue smiled at them, and Tang Mo couldn’t help but note how she was the only one with a decent costume.
She was dressed up as Erin from You’re Next, which should have been an average look, but it looked amazing on her. She was wearing the same clothes as Erin, a pair of blue jeans and a dark gray, long-sleeved shirt, plus the white bandage that she puts on during the movie; even more, she had blood — fake blood, Tang Mo hoped, but one could never be too sure when Mu Huixue was involved — all over her clothes, and she was holding an ax in her hands.
“You look very pretty, Mu Huixue,” Fu Wenduo smiled, and Tang Mo hummed in agreement.
“Aw, I don’t look pretty, Tang Tang, Major Fu?” Bai Ruoyao pretended to cry, and he was about to jump on the two boys, when a hand came from the back and grabbed his collar.
“Don’t be so annoying already, the night hasn’t even started yet,” Ning Zheng commented and, this time, Tang Mo couldn’t hold back his laughter.
“Bai Ruoyao forced you to wear that costume, right?” Fu Wenduo also giggled, much to Ning Zheng’s displeasure.
“He fucking burned my shirt,” the guy glared at the other, then he pointed to his apple-costume, “I don’t even know what the fuck this costume is, but it’s horrible!”
“Come on Ning Ning, you look cute~” Bai Ruoyao giggled, hugging the other boy — or, at least, hugging his apple costume.
“This evening is going to be so long,” the guy huffed, and Tang Mo silently agreed with him.
.𖥔 ݁ ˖🕸️🕷.𖥔 ݁ ˖
The party wasn’t even that bad, actually; Bai Ruoyao had invited many people from the school, and now they were all huddled together on the couches watching Halloween 1978.
“Come on Jamie, look behind! Behind!” Li Wen, one of Tang Mo’s classmates, was yelling heatedly.
“She can’t hear you,” Bai Ruoyao commented, then he turned towards Mu Huixue and pointed towards the back of the house, “bathroom?”
The girl rolled his eyes, but she still got up and went ahead.
“You two can’t even go to the bathroom without each other?” Tang Mo snorted, “childhood friends are so creepy. Ning Zheng, aren’t you also going with them?”
“Don’t mix me with those two idiots,” the guy in question replied, rolling his eyes to the sky, “just because we grew up together, that doesn’t mean I need to be constantly with them.”
“I know you’re gonna miss me, Ning Ning~” Bai Ruoyao smirked, getting up and kissing the top of Ning Zheng’s head.
“GO AWAY!” The guy yelled, trying to punch his friend, who had already slipped away and was almost outside the room.
“Ning Ning, I’ll be right back~” Bai Ruoyao smirked, and the other rolled his eyes at the movie reference.
“I hope the Scream×You’re Next crossover ends 1-0 for Adam Wingdar,” he commented, making Bai Ruoyao giggle before finally leaving.
“Your face is very red, are you okay?” Li Wen wondered, completely unaware.
“I’m fine,” Ning Zheng hissed, making Tang Mo roll his eyes to the sky.
“You know, you should just confess,” Fu Wenduo voiced everyone’s thoughts, obviously unable to empathize with Ning Zheng’s feelings, “everyone knows that you like him, besides him.”
“Well, right back at you,” Ning Zheng replied with an angry expression, “everyone knows who you like; why haven’t you confessed yet?”
“I don’t know who you like,” Tang Mo commented, raising his eyebrows and turning towards Fu Wenduo, “who is it?”
“Ning Zheng, careful,” Fu Wenduo glared at him, then he turned towards Tang Mo and shook his head, “nobody, don’t worry about it.”
Tang Mo didn’t say anything, pondering over Ning Zheng’s words. If everyone knew who Fu Wenduo liked, besides the person himself, and Tang Mo didn’t know who Fu Wenduo liked, then would that mean—
“I’m back!” Bai Ruoyao loudly announced, “who wants something to drink?”
“Me!” Li Wen raised his hand, and almost everyone did the same.
“Huh, that’s a lot of people,” Bai Ruoyao commented, “Tang Tang, Major Fu, help me, please~”
Tang Mo and Fu Wenduo exchanged a glance, before they both got up from the couch at the same time.
“Where’s Mu Huixue?” Fu Wenduo wondered, “she would have been able to bring all the bottles by herself.”
“She’s upstairs, talking to Cheng Shanshan and Fu Wengshen,” Bai Ruoyao explained, leading Fu Wenduo and Tang Mo to his basement.
“Huh, makes sense,” Tang Mo admitted, remembering how much their friend loved children, “so, what do we bring up?”
“Mhm, Major Fu can bring the water, I’ll bring the beer,” the guy hummed, “Tang Tang, you can grab the soda~”
Tang Mo nodded, walking towards the end of the basement, where all the soda bottles had been prepared on the ground.
Suddenly a clicking noise echoed in the room, and Tang Mo and Fu Wenduo raised their heads, looking at the closed door first, then at each other.
“Did he just lock us inside?” Tang Mo asked, feeling more and more furious.
“I think so,” Fu Wenduo sighed, walking towards the door and trying to open it, “yes, it’s closed.”
“That little—” Tang Mo hissed, before he heard a sound behind him, and he turned around, just in time to see a figure lunging at him.
“Be careful!” Fu Wenduo yelled, as the guy rolled down and avoided being hit.
The figure was dressed up as Ghostface, a knife in his hands, and he quickly ran towards Tang Mo again.
“Tang Mo!” Fu Wenduo yelled, putting himself between the two and blocking the knife with his bare hands.
Tang Mo, who had managed to get up, immediately ran towards them, punching the figure in the face.
Ghostface stumbled back, then he fell against the ground, and Fu Wenduo immediately used his bloody hands to take off the mask.
Bai Ruoyao, whose whole face was covered with blood, smiled up at them.
“Hi?” He tried to laugh, and Tang Mo groaned in anger.
“Are you okay?” He asked, turning towards Fu Wenduo and grabbing his hands, “come on, let’s get you treated.”
“Aren’t you concerned for me, too?” Bai Ruoyao asked.
“Die in a hole!” Tang Mo replied, grabbing Fu Wenduo’s arm and pulling him outside, breaking down the door to get out from the basement.
“Ning Zheng,” he called once they reached the living room, “oh, you took off the apple costume?”
“It was ridiculous,” Ning Zheng commented, hands folded in front of his naked chest, “I prefer shirtless. So, what do you want?”
“Where’s the bathroom?” He asked, “your stupid childhood friend pulled an absolutely unfunny prank on us; he’s down there with a broken nose, by the way.”
Ning Zheng rolled his eyes to the sky, but he still got up from the couch and led the two men upstairs into the bathroom.
“I’ll just take this,” he said, picking up the ointment and closing the bathroom door behind himself.
“He acts all annoyed, but it’s so obvious that he likes Bai Ruoyao,” Tang Mo commented, sticking out his tongue in disgust, “like and Bai Ruoyao in the same sentence, that feels so weird. Ning Zheng has terrible taste in men.”
“You’re right,” Fu Wenduo laughed, while the other forced him to sit on the bathtub border, “what about your taste in men? What’s your type?”
“My type?” Tang Mo hummed, “mhm, probably a strong guy.”
“What else?” Fu Wenduo insisted, as his voice became hopeful.
“Mhm, he has to be handsome,” the other pondered, crouching down and pressing some cotton over Fu Wenduo’s wounded hands.
“And?” The guy nodded again.
“Well, probably with a good sense of humor,” Tang Mo added.
“Oh, that’s easy,” Fu Wenduo smirked, “something else?”
“Right, he also has to be short,” the other nodded, and Fu Wenduo’s expression immediately dropped.
“Short?” He repeated, “are tall guys… Not fine for you?”
“Oh, I could never date a tall guy!” Tang Mo confirmed, “I mean, how would that even work with me? No, tall guys are definitely a no!”
“Oh,” Fu Wenduo whispered, suddenly dejected, “you would never date a tall guy, then?”
A pair of lips pressed on his cheek, and the guy widened his eyes, looking at Tang Mo, who had moved away and was now smirking at him.
“Mhm, who knows,” he hummed, “maybe there’s one tall guy who I’d date.”
“You were joking?” Fu Wenduo gasped, touching his cheek.
“You’re smart, you should know,” Tang Mo grinned, “was it funny?”
“Not at all,” Fu Wenduo huffed, grabbing Tang Mo’s waist and making him sit on his laps, “not a funny joke.”
“Now you know how I feel whenever you—” His next words died in his mouth when Fu Wenduo kissed him, opening his mouth for a deep kiss which Tang Mo immediately returned.
The shorter guy’s hands immediately traveled on Fu Wenduo’s pectorals, as he used them to hold himself close to him. Fu Wenduo, on the other hand, kept pressing Tang Mo’s waist closer to his body, forcing all the balance on his back.
“Be— Mhm— Be careful or we’re going to—” Once again, Tang Mo’s words died in his mouth, when Fu Wenduo put too much weight on his back and the two guys fell into the bathtub.
“Sorry,” Fu Wenduo whispered, making Tang Mo laugh.
“It’s fine,” he smiled, giving him a quick peck on the lips.
“Tang Mo,” Fu Wenduo asked, coughing in embarrassment, “does that mean we’re— Do you want to— We—”
“Yeah, yeah,” Tang Mo sighed, laying his head on Fu Wenduo’s chest, “let’s date.”
“Mhm,” the other man smiled, closing his eyes and stroking the guy’s hair, “let’s date.”
.𖥔 ݁ ˖🕸️🕷.𖥔 ݁ ˖
In the meantime, Bai Ruoyao was still lying on the cold floor, staring at the ceiling, when Ning Zheng’s unimpressed face appeared above him.
“Ning Ning~” The guy beamed up at him through all the blood on his face, “you took off the apple costume, what a shame~ Luckily, you also look good without a shirt~”
“You’re one of the most stupid people I know,” Ning Zheng sighed, sitting on the ground and unceremoniously placing Bai Ruoyao’s head on his lap.
“Ouch, ouch! That hurts, Ning Ning~” The baby-faced youth complained, before grinning, “I guess this plan didn’t work, either, huh?”
“No, I actually think it worked,” Ning Zheng hummed, taking out of his pocket the ointment and putting some on his fingers, before slowly tracing the wounds on Bai Ruoyao’s face, “they went to the bathroom alone, to take care of Fu Wenduo’s injuries.”
“According to that logic, then you and I are also kissing now,” Bai Ruoyao snickered, and Ning Zheng didn’t reply, while he silently kept passing the medicine on the other’s face.
The baby-faced youth closed his eyes and rested on Ning Zheng’s lap, basking in the constant touch.
“Done,” Ning Zheng said after a while, as he moved his hand away.
Bai Ruoyao didn’t say anything, just grabbing it to stop him and bringing the hand back on his face. Then he opened his eyes and stared up to Ning Zheng with a little smile on his lips.
“Ning Ning~” He called, and Ning Zheng felt his chest tighten at the fondness in Bai Ruoyao’s tone, “you look very pretty from down here~”
“You look ugly as usual from up here,” the guy replied, pinching his nose, but he knew better than anyone else that it was a lie; even with a broken nose, Bai Ruoyao still looked disgustingly pretty to him.
“Aw, that’s so mean, Ning Ning~” the guy smirked, “I’m very beautiful and—”
Whatever other flattering adjective he was about to add, it got shut down by Ning Zheng’s lips, which were pressing against Bai Ruoyao’s owns. The baby-faced youth widened his eyes, then he immediately closed them and returned the kiss, grabbing Ning Zheng’s cheeks and bringing his face closer. The kiss, which had started as just a peck, quickly became more, as the boys opened their mouths and intertwined their tongues. Kissing upside-down felt a bit weird, but the two guys thought that it was perfect for them.
“Ew, gross,” a voice commented from the door, making the two jump and break apart.
Mu Huixue was smirking from the basement’s stairs, the ax in her right hand and a bottle of soda in her left one, sipping from her drink with raised eyebrows.
“This is not what it looks like,” Ning Zheng muttered, as his face became extremely red.
“It’s not?!” Bai Ruoyao gasped, immediately pretending to cry, “my first kiss was stolen like this, and now you don’t even want to take some responsibilities?”
“Shut it, it’s not like that, either!” Ning Zheng hissed, pinching Bai Ruoyao’s cheeks.
“Then prove it and take some responsibilities,” the baby-faced youth whined through the pain, “date me, if you really want to take some responsibilities~”
“I’ll date you, if that’s what you want!” Ning Zheng huffed, as his face became redder, “I’ll date the hell out of you!”
“Okay~” Bai Ruoyao grinned, “I’ll also date the hell out of you, Ning Ning~”
Ning Zheng frowned, probably realizing that he had fallen right into Bai Ruoyao’s trap, and Mu Huixue sighed, shaking her head and commenting: “Happy Halloween, I guess.”
