Work Text:
Percy hummed as he wiped the counter down, choosing to ignore the Minotaur wrecking the streets. It wasn’t his quest and the person fighting it probably had it handled…
Okay so maybe it was clear they definitely didn’t, but they hadn’t entered the bakery so Percy couldn’t help them while following his moms rules.
A costumer entered the bakery and Percy shook off his thoughts quickly calling out to them “I’ll be with you in a sec!” He quickly left the back of the shop, and coming face to face with an injured demigod.
Who unfortunately was the one on the quest, based off of how hurt he looked “oh wow you look rough, let me go get you some of my moms cookies.”
Quickly opening the case that held his moms cookies, he took out three before re-entering the front. “Here! She makes them blue for me”
The demigod didn’t seem to be paying attention to the cookies anymore though “are you a half-blood working for Medusa?”
“Yep! And You should know she’s a very nice boss” Percy smiled as the demigod stuttered and simply offered him the cookies again.
This time the demigod ate them, and Percy leaned against the counter “do you need any help with your mission?” The boy looked shocked at the notion of Percy wanting to help, and quickly shook his head.
Percy frowned and eyed his injuries before he spoke again “Alright, but at least let me heal you before you go back” the boy went to shake his head but Percy simply pulled him into the back, and he quickly accepted his fate.
It took him a minute of digging around drawers and cabinets but he finally found the ambrosia that was kept in the store in case of an injury.
Uncorking the bottle he examines the demigods wounds before pouring just enough to heal the wounds into a small glass and giving it to the demigod
He re-corked the bottle as the demigod drank, and put it back into the drawer he found it in.
He turned to look at the demigod “do you have a sword?” “No, broke it while I was fighting” Percy hummed and handed him a kitchen knife
The sudden sound of shattering glass told Percy that the demigod had been here to long now, and the other boy seemed to agree, as he quickly ran out the door.
Percy followed him and, seeing as how the Minotaur was now in the bakery, began to attack it with the other demigod.
Dodging the monster was hard enough to the first time, but at least this time he had some training although it didn’t exactly make it fun.
Actually fighting back was definitely better though, especially since he was finally getting to use the sword his mom gave him in case of emergencies.
Eventually they defeated the monster, and Percy sighed when he realized he was going to have to explain the collateral damage.
It took 20 minutes for both his mom and his boss to get to the bakery, and once he explained what happened nether were happy.
His mom because he fought the Minotaur again, and Medusa because now she had to clean up all the glass shards and hire someone to put new windows in.
Percy was particularly sad about that part, because it meant the bakery would be closed for awhile and he couldn’t go there when ever he needed a break from his step-dad.
It took a month for the bakery to get back up and running, and Percy is pretty sure he almost went insane during the time.
But finally the bakery got fixed and Percy could go back to sleeping in the apartment above it instead of at home.
Hopefully that wouldn’t happen again too soon, because even if he liked the adrenaline rush fighting monsters gave him it was not worth having to deal with “gabe”.
He wonders if Em would petrify him if he asked nicely enough, but unfortunately his mom wouldn’t want her to.
