Chapter Text
"Arthur, you need to destroy the jewel!"
At Merlin's call, Arthur brought his sword down hard on the pendant ripped from an unconscious Morgana's neck. The twisted Dullahan-like creatures that terrorised the kingdom and had injured many innocents now turned to dust, floating in the wind. The jewel, now in half, began to glow a bright blue before a wisp of cerulean smoke wafted out of the cut. It swirled in the air for a minute before vanishing into thin air.
Arthur thought nothing of it. It was a magical artefact, wasn't it? Things like this were bound to happen to broken ones. However, as he slept that night, he was awoken by a voice.
"Arise, Arthur Pendragon. Wake up!"
Lazily opening an eye, his gaze fell upon a light at the corner of his room, glowing bright blue. It was floating in the air. That strange imagery shook him out of his sleepiness as he grabbed his sword and leapt out of bed in a fighting stance.
"Rest assured, young Pendragon, for I do not come in malice. I have only come to show you my gratitude."
The sword was lowered as he asked-
"Who are you?"
The blue light came closer and closer until Arthur could see what was making the blue light. It was a fae, with wings, pointed ears and sharp teeth. It gave a little curtsy before speaking.
"My name is Aislinn. I was once a prisoner in the Jewel of Wilan, cursed to obey whomever used my powers. But you broke the jewel, ending the curse and setting me free. And for that, I am grateful. I wish to reward you for your kindness. I shall grant you a wish. Anything your heart desires. No tricks, no conditions."
Arthur was taken aback by the fae's solemn words. One wish, anything the heart desired. It was no easy decision to make. It has to be used wisely.
"I appreciate your kindness, Aislinn. But, one wish is no easy decision to make. I may need time to think."
"Ah, that is true. Very well then, I shall present myself to you five nights from now and you will tell me your wish. And so that you do not doubt me, I shall give you this to keep until my return."
A pearl was dropped into his hand.
"This belonged to my father. I shall return for it soon..."
It was the last thing it said before the light flew out the window. Arthur, still dazed went back to his bed, thinking about a wish until sleep came over him.
