"Is something burning?" Sigrun's head snapped up as her daydream of a romantic tropical vacation dissipated around her, and she ran to the kitchen even knowing it was too late to save the fish she'd put in the oven twenty minutes ago.
It was completely burnt, and while she'd expected it to shrink while it cooked, it didn't even fill half the pan by now and the vegetables she'd surrounded it with were basically ashes; the only edible thing left was the rice she'd taken off the heat anyway.
The embarrassing thing, Sigrun decided, was that Tanith of all people had been the one to catch her daydreaming so deeply she'd forgotten all about dinner; luckily, all Tanith did was smile and offer to take her out to eat instead.
