“There’s a Bee”. Adam called partway through a random Wednesday. Alvin had been working on paperwork when Adam called out and he looked up in a hurry.
“Where?” Al asked urgently. He hoped his epipen wasn’t expired just in case.
“Over there”. Adam replied as he pointed to Erin’s vacant desk. Her and Hank had gone to talk to one of Erin’s CI’s an hour ago.
“Can we get it out?” Al responded hoping his voice didn’t sound too panicked. He would rather not be stung today. A hospital visit was not how Al wanted to spend his day, not when he and Hank had dinner plans that night.
“Shoo”. Jay said as he headed over to the bee and tried getting it out of the window. A buzzing was heard by his ear and Al looked up to see a second bee. Of course.
Alvin backed up planning to head into Hank’s office or the break room. His moving despite slowly, alerted the bee and Al felt the familiar pain in his arm.
“I got it”. Kevin announced as he shut the window.
“There were two. Adam, I need you to go get Trudy. Tell her it’s urgent”. Alvin said as he sat down and looked at his arm that was already starting to turn red.
“Al?” Jay asked as he walked closer.
“I’m allergic and was stung. I need someone to go get Trudy now”. Alvin said as calmly as possible. He was trying not to worry everybody but he needed someone to shut up and get Trudy.
The difficulty breathing started the next minute and it had been a while since Alvin had gone into anaphylactic shock. He forgot how unpleasant it was. His arm was turning redder and as he thought about grabbing his epipen, Trudy came up the stairs.
“Where is it?” Trudy asked right away. Adam had already filled her in downstairs and judging by how Al already looked, she had to act quickly.
“Top drawer”. Alvin wheezed. He felt nauseous as the world started spinning and he grabbed his garbage can throwing up as Trudy grabbed the epipen and got ready.
“Call an ambulance”. Trudy ordered the worried looking intelligence members while she got the epipen ready to inject.
Alvin felt the pain in his thigh the next moment but breathed a brief sight of relief as it started working. It would take a few minutes to work properly and he needed proper medical attention as soon as possible but he felt way better than he had.
“Feeling better?” Trudy asked softly as she sat next to Al.
“A bit yeah”. Al responded honestly.
“Alvin?” Hank called as he and Erin arrived back at the district to find Al and Trudy sitting on the floor and the rest of Intelligence hovering in the background.
“Were you stung?” Hank asked as he headed over to his husband and knelt down next to him. Seeing the discarded epipen on the floor had helped him put the pieces together.
“Yeah. I’m okay now though”. Al reassured as Hank checked him over and gently grabbed his arm taking a look at where Al had been stung.
“Is an ambulance on its way?” Hank said next and Antonio nodded in response. A few minutes later the ambulance arrived and Al was loaded onto the stretcher, Hank following him as it headed to the closest hospital.
“We may need to postpone our dinner”. Hank said as he held Al’s hand.
“At least we get the day off”. Al muttered, getting a small laugh from Hank.
“That we do. I think I can get us tomorrow off too”. Hank replied as the ambulance pulled up at the hospital.
Al gave a small smile as he was brought to a hospital room and checked over.
They did in fact get those two days off and Hank and Alvin spent them well.
