Chapter Text

Chapter 1 A whole New Headache.

Outskirts of Westover Hall School in Vancouver, Maine 

Time: December 14, 2012

Percy Jackson stood at the edge of Artemis's tent, the dim light of the fire casting flickering shadows across his face. He was tall and muscular, with sea-green eyes that seemed to hold the depth of the ocean, and jet-black hair that always looked a bit windblown. He wore jeans and a simple orange Camp Half-Blood T-shirt under his leather jacket, his celestial bronze sword Riptide disguised as a pen in his pocket.

Beside him, Bianca di Angelo shifted nervously, a young girl with olive skin, dark hair, and dark eyes filled with fear and uncertainty.

Artemis, in her child form, sat across from them. She appeared as a young girl of about twelve, with auburn hair tied back in a ponytail and piercing silver eyes that reflected the wisdom of millennia. She wore a simple white chiton and a silver circlet on her head. Despite her youthful appearance, her demeanor was regal and commanding.

Zoe Nightshade, Artemis's lieutenant, stood beside her. She was tall and lithe, with sleek black hair that fell to her waist and eyes as dark as the night sky. She wore the traditional silver hunting gear of the Hunters of Artemis, complete with a quiver of arrows slung over her shoulder and a celestial bronze sword at her side. Her expression was stern, but there was a softness in her eyes as she looked at Bianca.

"Have you made your decision, Bianca?" Artemis asked gently.

Bianca took a deep breath, her eyes flicking to Percy, who gave her an encouraging nod. Just as she opened her mouth to speak, a blinding flash of light enveloped the tent, and both Percy and Bianca were gone.

Percy woke up to the sound of birds chirping and leaves rustling. He sat up, blinking against the bright sunlight filtering through the canopy of trees above him. The forest was unlike any he had seen before, with an almost magical quality to it. As he stood and dusted himself off, he realized he was alone.

"Where am I?" he muttered to himself, reaching into his pocket and gripping Riptide for reassurance.

He started to explore, his instincts on high alert. The forest was eerily quiet except for the distant growls and rustling. As he moved cautiously through the underbrush, the growling grew louder. He spun around, Riptide now uncapped and ready, to face a rock monster standing about his height. The creature had a rough, stone-like exterior with glowing yellow eyes. It was a Gotsumon, its rocky fists clenched and ready for a fight.

Percy lunged at the Gotsumon, swinging Riptide, but the celestial bronze sword passed harmlessly through the creature. Shocked, Percy stumbled back, his mind racing for a new strategy.

A sudden blast of water struck the Gotsumon, sending it sprawling. "Run!" called a sassy, female-like voice from his left. Percy turned to see an amphibious creature with green, scaled skin, a long tail, and fins on its back and head. It was a Betamon, and it was glaring at him impatiently.

"Don't just stand there!" Betamon snapped. "More are incoming!"

Percy nodded and the two of them ran deeper into the forest, the sounds of pursuing Gotsumon fading behind them. They finally stopped to catch their breath in a small clearing.

"Thanks," Percy panted. "I'm Percy Jackson, by the way. Why did you help me, a demigod?"

Betamon's eyes softened. "I'm not sure. I just had this strong feeling that I needed to help you”. Once they found a temporary refuge, Percy asked Betamon why she helped him. She explained that she felt an intense need to assist him, as if her survival depended on it, and asked “Also, what's a demigod?"

Percy chuckled. "Long story. But I appreciate the help. Have you seen any other humans around?"

Betamon nodded. "I saw some near an old wooden building a day ago, south of here."

"Great," Percy said, feeling a flicker of hope. "Can you take me there?"

As they made their way south, Percy and Betamon exchanged stories, learning about each other's worlds. Percy was struck by how similar Betamon's empathic connection felt to the one he had with his best friend Grover, a satyr who could sense his emotions.

Suddenly, they found themselves surrounded by more Gotsumon, Gazimon, cat-like creatures  with their dark gray, furry bodies and clawed hands, and a large Stegomon, a dinosaur-like creature with a plated back and sharp horns. Stegomon's voice boomed. "Capture the human alive for the Master and destroy the traitor!"

Percy and Betamon braced for a fight, knowing escape was going to be hard. Percy swung Riptide, but it remained ineffective. He resorted to guiding Betamon, calling out openings for her to exploit. Betamon fought bravely, firing off electric shocks and water blasts while dodging attacks from their enemies.

Stegomon watched the battle, impressed by their teamwork despite the odds. As the fight dragged on, Percy and Betamon began to tire. Stegomon ordered his minions to close in, and they prepared for a final assault.

Just then, a ball of fire shot through the air, hitting a Gotsumon. Percy turned to see a group of humans and Digimon rushing to their aid. A yellow bipedal raptor-like creature, Agumon, led the charge, followed by a small white dog with pink ears and tail, Labramon, and a variety of other Digimon. Their human partners were equally determined, shouting commands and joining the fray.

Among them, a girl with short blue hair and a gentle demeanor, Shibuya Aoi, directed Labramon. A boy with spiky brown hair and a determined look, Momozuka Takuma, urged Agumon forward. Hinata Minoru, with his casual clothing and carefree attitude, fought alongside Falcomon, a bird-like creature. Kimishima Saki, with her vibrant pink hair and energetic personality, partnered with Floramon, a bipedal plant-like creature

The group’s arrival turned the tide of the battle. Agumon’s Pepper Breath attack sent fireballs at the Gotsumon and Gazimon, creating an opening for Percy and Betamon to escape. However, Stegomon fired his Shell Needle Rain attack, obscuring their vision with a cloud of dust.

When the dust settled, Stegomon stood before them. He knocked Percy away and stomped on Betamon. Percy, refusing to abandon her, fought back with all his might. Betamon, touched by Percy’s loyalty, felt a surge of power. She started to glow gold and was encased in a sphere of glowing hexagons.

The sphere exploded, knocking Stegomon away. In Betamon’s place was a large sea serpent – Seadramon. Percy instinctively knew this was still Betamon.

Seadramon explained that Percy’s desire to save her had caused her to evolve. Together, they faced Stegomon, ultimately defeating him with Seadramon’s ice blast. After the victory, Seadramon reverted to Betamon, jumping into Percy’s arms.

As the group of humans approached, Percy thanked them for their help and introduced himself. He inquired if they had seen any of his friends. The humans, intrigued by Percy’s story and their shared fight, prepared to continue their search together, forging new alliances in this strange, intertwined world.

As they set off together, Percy felt hopeful. He had new allies, and with Betamon by his side, he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. And a whole new headache with what's to come.
