Summary
“You’re in love with him!” Steve yelled through tears, his throat threatening to close up on him. He feels as if his lungs were ripped from his chest, crushed beneath Nancy’s foot along with his heart, his dreams, his confidence, everything.
“Steve, that’s not true, don’t be ridiculous!” Nancy exclaims as she gets out of her chair, rushing over to Steve and placing her hands on his biceps. Her voice is calm but her eyes are wide and filled with fear. “I love you,” She tries to reassure but Steve pulls away from her touch as he shakes his head vigorously, tears streaming down his flushed cheeks.
“I’m not stupid Nance, you love him” He sniffles, his voice defeated as he turns away to start packing his things in a rush. “I can’t watch you obsess over him anymore.” Despite her denial she doesn’t once stop Steve from leaving.
This is a story inspired by a Reddit post, there wasn't a happy ending in the post, so I felt the need to write one.
