Work Text:
Razor recognizes Sucrose’s scent before he even sees her. It is a mixture of honey, burning candles and sweet flowers. Razor follows her trail to the outskirts of the forest and lingers among some trees before revealing his presence. He admires how her hair billows in the winter breeze, noting how her usual light coat was replaced by a thick one and a heavier scarf. Sucrose rubs her hands together and blows warm air into them, not yet noticing his presence.
Taking a step forward, Razor greets her casually.
“Good morning Sucrose.”
Her face lights up at the sight of him, and his heart begins to pound in his chest.
“Good morning, Razor.”
Razor smiles, even if he is a little worried. It's been a while since the two of them have spent time together, and Sucrose’s scent is permeated with the strong scent of the city. How many nights was Razor waiting for her on the outskirts of the city, unable to enter it? He knows she was busy too, but a part of him worries that they are no longer as good friends as they used to be.
Sucrose must have noticed he was thinking something, because with cheeks flushed from the cold, she steps forward and hugs him. Her coat is soft, like a wolf's fur, and for a moment Razor feels warm as if he's snuggling with his lupical.
“I missed you.”
Sucrose’s words are barely a whisper, but they cause the tight tension in his chest to release. Razor hugs her tightly, holding her body in his arms and hiding his nose in her neck, inhaling that scent that is hers alone.
Sucrose begins to pull away, and though unwilling to let go, Razor takes a step away as well.
“W-well.” Sucrose’s ears flap up and down slightly. Adorable. “Since today is a day when we finally get together after a long time, is there anything special you want to do?”
Razor shakes his head. “Today, relax. I have gift for you.”
“For me? That's pretty nice of you. Unfortunately, I came empty-handed, but if there's anything you need, I can do it for you.”
“I don't need anything.”
“A-Ah, I understand.” Sucrose’s expression drops for a moment, but soon she raises her head and, more determined, smiles at him. “Don't worry, I'll think of something!”
Razor nods. Then, he takes hold of Sucrose’s hand and begins to lead her through the wolvendom, ignoring the curious and playful looks from his lupical as he leads a human, or semi-human so deep into it. It's similar to the first time they walked together, in complete silence until Sucrose relaxed. She squeezes his hand, and he stops to look at her, a small smile graces Sucrose0s face and joy slowly fills his body.
They continue walking hand in hand until they reach a cave discovered by him. Seeing it, he thought this place would be perfect to take her to it.
“Close your eyes.”
Sucrose closes them, and Razor guides her inside.
Sucrose is his friend, indeed. There is no doubt that this protectiveness he feels towards her is similar to the one he feels for his lupical; however, it is different. He wants to be closer to her than to anyone else.
He wants to be special to her.
Reaching behind her ear, Razor whispers. “Open them now.”
Opening her eyes, Sucrose notices a pile of Hilichurls bones on the floor.
“I got them for you.”
“I love them! Thank you so much Razor.”
Razor watches closely the flash of excitement in her molten gold eyes, and the big smile showing her fangs. Sucrose is so pretty. She really is. The warmth that fills his chest is akin to being under the sun, and how full his heart feels just looking at her, is almost comparable to what he feels when he is with his lupical. Almost, because now that he is together with Sucrose after days of missing her, the feeling seems to have grown without his consent and at the slightest of touches it seems that it will overflow.
Sucrose finishes putting the bones away in her bag, directing that sweet gaze towards him.
Without really knowing what he's doing, Razor moves closer until his lips collide with hers.
Sucrose looks up at him in surprise, her ears flicking upward and her cheeks exploding in color. Razor doesn't quite understand the impulse that led him to do that, but seeing this reaction from Sucrose is more than enough.
“W-Why did you kiss me, Razor?”
“Because I wanted to.” Answering honestly, Razor pouts a little. “Sucrose didn't like it?”
Sucrose swallows hard and then shakes her head.
“It's not that I didn't like it... I just think we're going a little fast.”
“Fast?”
“Yes... I-I mean, we've only met twice before this, so it would be logical to think that we need to get to know each other better in order to engage in a loving relationship. Although, speaking outside of logic, the moments I've spent with you replay inside my head even in the lab.” Sucrose takes his hand, unsure. Razor squeezes it tightly, though perhaps his speech is inconsistent, he understands well what she is saying. Sucrose fixes her glasses, continuing after a sigh. “I've spent so much time studying that I think I've also completely forgotten about human relationships, and being with you has made me feel more alive than I ever have before. I... What I mean, is that I really like you and given the short time we've been together, I don't know, could you think I'm crazy?”
“No. Sucrose isn't crazy. So does Razor. I think about you. More than Iupical. This is all for you.” Razor points to the cave, to the bones, and finally places a hand over his heart. “Sucrose likes me?”
With eyes watering with emotion, Sucrose nods.
“Yes.”
Razor caresses her cheek tenderly. Moving closer to her, he stares at her lips.
“Again?”
There is no answer, but Sucrose is the one who comes closer and kisses him. Razor simply follows her pace, letting her entwine her hands around his neck and hugging her waist, keeping her close to him. Sucrose breaks away to breathe, and Razor hides his head in her neck. Sucrose and her sweet smell. That mixture of honey, burning candles and sweet flowers now includes him too. Razor finally understands.
“Sucrose. Mine.”
Raising his head to look at her, Sucrose smiles sweetly at him. Placing their foreheads together, she whispers, “You too. Razor you are mine now.”
Razor smiles radiantly, pressing their lips together once more.
