Chapter Text

Zane found Pixal outside staring up at the night sky.

He hesitated for a brief moment before moving to sit down beside her. They didn’t speak, neither finding the need to fill the silence with words, but rather they sat side by side, gazing up at the stars that twinkled up above. At some point Pixal’s fingers had interlocked with his and Zane absentmindedly rubbed his thumb over them, relishing the feel of titanium skin underneath his. 

After a while Pixal let out a long, content sigh, leaning on his shoulders. She gazed up at him with soft, loving, emerald eyes. “I missed this,” she whispered softly, her voice a beautiful sound to his ears. 

Zane hummed back curiously, tilting his head to look at her. “I missed this… gazing at the stars through my own eyes, you know?” she clarified before looking away. “Sorry,” she mumbled, not meeting his eyes. “I ruined the moment, didn’t I?”

Zane paused, pursing his lips as he contemplated on how to respond. He opted on gently squeezing her hand in a silent reassurance. It worked as she turned to look back at him. He smiled back, soft and warm, before bringing her fingers up to his lips, placing delicate kisses on each of her knuckles. 

“I… I missed this as well,” he murmured against her fingers. “I missed seeing you, holding you… touching you,” He reached up, gently releasing her hand to place his on the side of her face.

Pixal giggled a soft melodious sound before leaning into his touch, bringing a hand to cover his. “Aren’t you a flirt tonight,” she teased.

“Only for you,” he replied honestly. 

She giggled once more and at the sound, Zane’s heart seemed to have skipped a beat. Even under the stars and moon, Pixal seemed to be the brightest thing in the world to him at this moment. Her hair shone, reflecting the moonlight and her eyes seemed to glow with love and adoration. Her smile was just as gorgeous as he remembered it. He felt a warm feeling fill his chest as he gazed down at her. 

She was here. Actually here. Not just some hologram in his mind. But here. In the flesh. Staring up at him in all her ethereal glory. Oh First Master…

“You’re beautiful,” he found himself saying.

Pixal blinked at him in surprise before softening, a soft smile dancing on her lips. “You’re gorgeous,” she replied.

“You’re extraordinary,” he grinned back, leaning forward.

Pixal’s eyes flashed with challenge before she too leaned closer. “You’re amazing,”

“You’re incredible,”

“You’re perfect,”

“You’re mesmerizing,”

“You’re magnificent,”

“You’re flawless,”

“You’re mine,”

Zane paused at that, glancing down at Pixal. She seemed stunned as well at the words that slipped out of her mouth. It was then that they both finally registered the closeness of their proximity. Zane swallowed, glancing down at her lips before meeting her eyes in a wordless question. Her gentle smile was all the answer he needed before he cupped her face in his hands. “I’m yours,” he murmured in agreement before their lips finally met.

The kiss was slow, soft and unsure as this was their first time in a long time. But then the familiarity of it finally set in and he deepened the kiss, bringing her closer. Pixal let out a pleased sound at his sudden ferocity. Her hand trailed up his arms before resting at the nape of his neck. Zane sighed into the kiss as she started to gently card through his synthetic hair.

Oh First Master. He missed this. He missed having her here—physically, not just in his mind. He missed breathing in her scent—a soft lavender mingled with the faint, warm smell of cookies they’d baked together just hours ago. He missed her warm smile. He missed kissing her senseless. He missed… he missed her. All of her. 

He felt Pixal’s tongue gently tap his bottom lip, a silent invitation, and Zane eagerly complied. Their tongues brushed together, dancing around each other, tasting, exploring. He deepened the kiss, tilting his head to give her more access. His hand instinctively fell down from her face to her waist, drawing her as close as possible. It was an uncomfortable position since they both were sitting but Zane didn’t care. Every brush of their tongues against each other sent a surge of warmth through him, and he lost himself in the sensation of being so utterly connected to her.

It was ironic, in a way, how he, the Master of Ice, was melting under her touch. 

He hadn’t realized how much he missed her until this very moment. It had been months since he had last held her, and now he didn’t want to let go. They could have stayed this way for an eternity, since neither of them needed to pull away to breathe but Zane desperately wanted to see her face again.

He slowly pulled away, breaking the kiss and opening his eyes to take her in. Pixal blinked up at him, slightly dazed, smiling softly. They leaned their foreheads against each other, giggling like new lovers. It didn’t matter to Zane whether the action was movie-like or cliché. Because regardless of whether it was or not, this was their moment. He was hers and she was his. And that was all that mattered.

“I’m glad that you’re out of my head,” Zane whispered honestly.

Pixal let out a breathy laugh at that, gazing up at him with a besotted, lovestruck expression, emerald green locking into icy blue.

“I love you, Zane,” she whispered softly. 

Zane felt himself melt under her loving gaze,  her words on repeat in his mind. For a moment, everything around them seemed to fade—the stars, the soft whispers of the wind, the faint hum of the world itself. All that existed was her, gazing up at him with love and adoration that seemed to pierce straight through him.

He couldn’t tear his eyes away from hers. How could he, when her emerald gaze held so much? Love, adoration, trust—it was all there, unspoken yet so profoundly clear. Zane felt his processor stutter, overwhelmed by the sheer weight of her presence.

He thought back to the long, lonely nights of before where he had talked with her in the confinement of his mind. He remembered how he had wished to hold her hand again, how he had yearned to see her face to face once more. And now, here she was, more beautiful and radiant than before. 

The soft moonlight bathed her features, casting her in a light so ethereal that she seemed almost unreal. Her smile—so soft, so beautiful—tugged at his very core. He wanted to memorize every detail—the curve of her lips, the way her hair shimmered under the stars, the gentle rise and fall of her breath.

His fingers tightened around hers as if grounding himself in the reality of her presence. She was here. She was real. And she was his.

It was then that he finalized it. First Master, he was never letting her go.

“I love you too, Pixal,” he murmured back, his voice thick with emotion. Without another word, he dipped down and recaptured her lips with his. He kissed her with an intense ferocity that held everything he couldn’t express in words—his longing, his joy, his love . All for her.

Only for her.

Can you believe it?? It’s the end of 2024 lol! It feels like this year has just whizzed past lol. But alas, we’re here!! <33 This year has been full of ups and downs and all of y’all are definitely the ups lol!! <33
