Work Text:

Anne cradled a cup of hot chocolate in her hands. It was quiet this year. Her parents and her gathered in the living room.

A cheesy Christmas movie played on the screen, despite how cliche it was she was crying from the heart-warming message of Christmas. Mrs. Boonchuy, despite knowing that Anne was older, fifteen, still insisted on presents that were wrapped and a surprise. It was really sweet.

Her dad and mom are drinking coffee and talking about the movie, crying with Anne.

They were all cuddled in a bundle on the cushions.

It grew late, and Anne was growing tired. She pushed herself off the couch and stretched.

"I'm going to bed, Merry Christmas! Love you guys." She said and hugged her parents. They squeeze her.

"Merry Christmas, Anne." They said quietly, separately kissing her forehead and saying she loved them.

Anne headed up the stairs, staring at the photos of her and her family. She smiled slightly.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket. Gabby was calling her.

"Hey girl." Anne leaned on the wall by her door.

She heard her friend get settled.

"Anne! Merry Christmas! I'm dropping your present off in the morning. I miss you! We should hang out before break ends!" Gabby said cheerfully.

"Totally agreed. Do you have free time? We can talk for a few." Anne bit her thumbnail.

"Sadly not, I to finished getting packed, we going to my grandma's, it'll take all night to get there. Sorry!"

"It's fine, Merry Christmas, Gabs." Anne rubbed her knee.

"Yeah..! Merry Christmas, love you, girl."

"Love you too." She said, the red head hung up.

Anne opened her bedroom door and got her sweater off and threw her phone on her bed.

She got a pajama shirt and some Christmas themed pajama pants.

She stepped to her bed and laid down on her bed.

Christmas morning has always been strange for Sasha. Every morning, she used to cook breakfast for her mom and herself, then wait for her to wake up. Sasha usually made a really simple present for her mom.

Two years ago, she had to break that routine and gifted Grimes a gift while she was in Amphibia and some small gifts to some of the frogs. They were all really confused.

Today, she had herself and her mother, as well as her step family. She woke up, and breakfast was already cooking. A Christmas song was playing through the downstairs, and her step siblings were waiting for her.

Sasha messed up her stepbrother's hair as she walked by.

"Merry Christmas." She said happily. Her mom called for her soon.

"Sasha! Help me get the cinnamon rolls in the oven, I have my hands full." The woman was in the kitchen.

Sasha entered the kitchen and did as told. She grabbed herself an oven mitt and got the rolls in the oven and then helped her mom.

"Alright! Time for presents!" Her mom said brightly. Sasha helped her mom pass them out. Her stepdad had work today till evening.

She let the two youngers open there's. Her sister got a kids' art set and dolls, her brother got a set of toy cars. He argued he was too old for them, though. He seemed thankful.

Sasha got to her present. She didn't know what it could be. She really hadn't asked for anything. She opened the package carefully and looked inside.

It was a Heron figure and a Sword Keychain. At the bottom of the box was a folded multi colored flag.

"Wow! Thank.. I love it." Sasha smiled softly at hugged her mom and closed the box. "I'll put it away somewhere safe."

Her mom hugged her back.

"You're welcome, baby. You get more difficult to gift for every year." Her mom laughed, Sasha laughed with it.

All through the two homes, not a creature was stirring, not even chirping cricket legs.

The girls were nestled and snug in their beds.

Visions of..

Marcy! danced in their heads.

Marcy spun the stars in the mural on the wall. Gazing at the two girls she put before all. She closed her eyes and imagined their dreams. She hoped to twinkle it more than it seemed.

Sasha stood at the ledge of the stone. She could see that all of the valley was shown. She rested her hand on the hilt of her sword and swore...

Swore? She shook her head as she saw below on the stones stood a ranger in a cape and brave clothes.

Sasha swore she couldn't believe what she saw there. She rushed down the flights and flights of stairs. Her goal clasped her bag tight, staring in awe

The Tower behind her crumbled to rubble. She dared to step closer, fearing trouble. But she crushed those thoughts and grasped their hand.

Marcy started to laugh. Sasha pursed her lips.

"Marcy." She said quietly. She pulled the woman closer.

"Hey, Sash." The blacked haired female smiled and kissed her hand.

"Merry Christmas. I miss you two." She spoke slow, then turned around.

Anne tended to a pesky weed that burrowed in the ground, mending the leaves to be sound.

Before long, she was messy and furrowed her brows. She headed into the house, wiping her hands on her blouse.

On the seat settled a ranger, away for mettling danger.

Anne set fast on her feet. And before she could peep she speaked.

"Hey, Anna-Banana." Marcy broke the stupid rhymes and grabbed Anne's dirty hands and placed them on her face.

"How are you here?" Anne sat in front of her on the wooden coffee table.

Marcy shrugged and smiled.

"CD gifted me permission to see you girls. Who knew a god would keep up with mortal holidays. A little too much, but you know." she let go of Anne's hands and sat her in her lap.

"Neat. Frog, you are looking nice!" Anne exclaimed. Marcy laughed.

"Just a holiday change for you.. I didn't want to look too much different to Sash, TSD doesn't want me to blabber about it to people who don't know."

Marcy laughed and twirled her hair. It was longer, really pretty, and Marcy had a familiar shell clipping it back. Her clothes were a green satin looking dress with a red cardigan and blue bulb earrings.

"I like it." Anne smiled a little. "I've missed you a lot, though, so has Sash, though she and I aren't on speaking terms..." Anne trailed off.

"I know.. though I see brighter days coming, but shh... I didn't tell you that!" Marcy put a finger to her lips and smiled.

"What does that mean?"

"Sh-sh-shh!" The intern laughed. "Merry Christmas, Anna-Banana. I'm running out of time here, Rem doesn't last that long, apparently!" Marcy pressed her finger to Anne's lips.

"Aw! Alright, can I hug you? Before you go?" She asked softly.

Marcy nodded and pulled the curly hair woman into a hug. Anne moved onto the space by her and hugged her closer.

"Merry Christmas, Mar-Mar."

Anne sat up in bed, she illuminated her surroundings a little from the start she had waking up. She sighed and rested her chin on her knees.

She wasn't scared, though. She fixed her hair and laid back down.

Sasha woke up and rubbed her eyes. She's never had a Marcy dream like that before. Usually, it would be a nightmare. That reminded her of her severing the core's connection to Marcy's body and officially killed the thing, keeping them with hope of Marcy being alive.

No, this dream was odd. It was just Marcy, and Marcy wished her a Merry Christmas.. does her therapist need to know this?
