Chapter Text
It is said that the Sun and Moon will live among us. The sun will shine upon our land, and the moon will change the tides.
It is said that the Sun and Moon will one day collide, and from the collision a star shall fall. It will carry a piece of Sun and a piece of Moon.
Rulers always fear the Witch, and the Witch in return fears the Ruler. The Sun and Moon will ruin this.
War will come, the flower will lose it's rain, the earth will lose it's sky,
and the Ruler will lose his Witch.
The stars foretold this.
Chapter 2: Coarse Blood Runs Cold

Chapter Text
The old man placed the book on top of a night stand. The young prince, no more than 12, smiled at him. "That was a nice story." The old man, a royal captain of the guards, was happy to hear this. The prince then asked him, "What does it mean?" The princes eyes seemed to glitter in the candlelight. "Well, Edgar, some say it is a prophecy from long ago. Others say it is just a simple legend. I personally believe it is a sad tale with a sad ending. "But..." Edgar puzzled, "Why did the prophecy have to sound so sad? Why can't there always be good endings for people and stories?" The story reminded Edgar of his mother, who was elsewhere in the castle, dying of an unknown illness. Plebians once described her as 'The Moon Goddess' for her beauty resembled that of the moon's. This may have been what prompted Edgar to ask that question. The old guard stroked Edgar's hair. "Edgar, not every story can have a happy ending. Sometimes, a great king can win a war, but at the cost of the love of his life. We can't always have everything. Now please, go to sleep." He tucked the prince in, blew out the candle, and left. Edgar thought about the Sun and his Moon until at last he fell asleep.
Many years passed. Edgar was now the old man, his hair slowly disappearing from his head. He learned the harsh truths about love and war, and saw the world he once knew vanish without a trace. His heart grew dark and bitter. But now, King Edgar II had a son of his own, a young boy called William. King George of a close land took Will from him, and he hardly saw his boy. One day, when Will was but 12, he visited his father, as he did every year or so with George's permission. During his stay Edgar stumbled across a very dusty book, and recognized it as the book of legends from his youth. He flipped through the pages until he found his favorite story, The Sun and Moon. That night, for the first time, he read to his son. He read to him his once favorite story, just to see what Will would say about it.

Will's eyes were wide. In truth, he was still recovering from the surprise of his father wanting to read him a story. He couldn't remember the last time they acted like father and son. He then noticed the way his father was looking at him. He quickly said, "Thanks for the story! It was great!" Edgar nodded. He thought his son would say that. "But, Dad, what does it mean?"
"Nevermind what it means. It is just a foolish fairytale, William. Don't dwell on it." He patted Will's sheets and sat up. As he began to leave, his son called out to him. "Wait! What does it mean when it says something like the ruler and his witch?" Edgar's brow furrowed and he sighed, William was so tiring. "How about it means not to meddle with witchcraft, huh? Is that a good answer? Go to sleep, ungrateful mess." Now alone, Will pulled out an old necklace from under his pillow and observed it. It really was a nice story, he supposed, but it left him unnerved. He twiddled the jewelry between his fingers, unable to properly concentrate. Sleep finally took hold of him, and he dreamed about the sun shining and the moon glistening.
Needless to say, Will was very happy to return home. Staying with his parents was always a hassle. His fianceé, Monica, immediately greeted him when he returned, her lips saying what seemed like a thousand words a second. King George rose from his mighty throne to see the prince, and his young butler slowly limped behind him.
"Daddy, look who's back!" Monica shouted. George smiled down upon William. "Good to see you, Prince William. We missed you around here." Will laughed, he had only been gone for half a week. He was glad to be missed though. Monica ran off to find some book she read in his absence, and George and his butler led him to the dining hall for supper.
Late at night he talked with Monica. He told her about his father reading to him, and she found it as strange as he did. He didn't mention the story itself, but it lingered in his mind. When his fianceé fell asleep and left him to his thought, he got up and snuck out of the room. He crept down the halls, never making a single sound.
Chapter 4: Glass Shards
Chapter Text
Why was the night sky so cruel? Damien wasn't sure why he thought this way, but he did. He was in a dark corridor of the castle, somewhere people rarely ventured. There were no windows for light, no where for the moon to peek through. That damn moon, that damn sky, Damien thought. In all honestly, there was no need to blame the sky for his problems, he gave himself those. Even now, everything that happened was somehow his own doing. That's what she said anyway, that girl.
She must have been around his age. With a fair face and charming smile, she won the affections of all that surrounded her. Servants both adored and loathed her golden hair and graceful demeanor. She was rather tall and proud, an almost perfect rival for the princess. Damien brought his hand to his waist, and grew dizzy at the sight of his own blood covering his whole palm.
Damien saw right through her. She was of no noble heritage, and even worse, she was a witch through and through.
Damien's wound hurt greatly. More blood flowed from his side.
That girl was relentless, and Damien had grown to admire her. They spoke to each other in the evenings of life and such.
More blood dripped onto the floor. The young witchling had grown to weak to save himself. There was more to this, he was sure. He would figure it out, if only he could live.
She whispered terrible things that evening, and her words drove Damien mad. In the room just a few feet back, Damien had smahed that dark mirror to the ground because of the madness. She had widened her eyes in shock, not knowing what to do. Before she could stop him, he plunged a shard of glass into his side, and blood immediately began to stain the floor. Terrified, the girl ran away.
His vision now darkened, and Damien just hoped that Will wouldn't find him. He layed his head down on the ground. Damien was sure his dead body would scar his Will. His breathing shortened. As everything went dark, Damien thought he saw the girl again, with glistening tears in her eyes.

Chapter Text
The castle was shaking with life that night. A small party was being hosted by the king and queen for everyone in the land. He was too careless with his invitations, however, and a small group of traitors managed to file inside.
George dressed rather well that day and chatted with some nobody lord while his servant, Damien, who didn't want to be here, was unfortunately being hit on by drunk nobles. He had no good luck this week, it seemed. Damien glanced over to see William and Monica, together as always. It was seemingly an average party.
Will was wearing a deep green tuzedo, complete with a tie and shoes. He wore a loose jacket and his golden chain was neatly around his neck. For once, he felt organized. Then his eyes caught with someone across the room. Her eyes were ruby-red, and they made him almost quiver. Monica ran off to chase a handsome steward, and Will was alone. The eyes approached him, drowning him with their mesmerizing gaze. The girl stood before him, and he looked upon the rest of her.
She had a lovely pale yellow dress that was just long enough to hide her ankles. It was not poofy or anything of the sort, and the fabric in a way clung to her legs. He observed her face, which bore both stunning conplextion and a graceful demeanor. Her golden hair was very straight and went just below her shoulders. Her red eyes never wavered or blinked, and Will was sure she could read his thoughts.
The girl curtsied to him, and said, "Nice to meet you, your majesty." She smiled at him, the kind of smile that sends shivers down one's spine. "It is a pleasure to be here with you, today." William gently bowed to her. "My lady, I promise you, the pleasure is all mine."

Summary:

Chapter Text
The hospital wing was very quiet the following evening. The king and queen were currently in a private room discussing the concerning matter. Not because they really cared, of course. George was just desperate to cover the whole thing up. If word about the assault on his private assistant got out it would certainly spell disaster.
The nurses told him about the current condition of Damien. He had a deep wound in his side, which contained small pieces of glass. What must have happened was this: The big mirror kept in one of the spare rooms was shattered upon the ground, and Damien grabbed a thick shard of glass and impaled his side with it. It was unclear as to what led to the assumed attempted suicide, but it was suspected that there was another person in the room. The doctor also noted a gash in his throat. Someone had seemingly attempted to slit his throat. There were also many small cuts covering his arms and legs, most likely from the glass mirror breaking.
He felt his somebody tug at his cape. He looked down and saw his poor daughter, her face wet with tears. She demanded that whoever was with Damien was found and banished immediately. Monica hadn't seen anything and only knew what people told her, but that didn't stop her eagerness for justice. As much as George wanted to fulfill her wishes, it was unclear who had been there. The young prince, William, as well as a few sevants had found Damien assumedly half an hour after the stabbing, and the prince did not notice anyone nearby. Currently, there was nothing George could do but wait for good news.
William woke up without warning, startling one of the many birds outside. He blinked quickly, his mind troubled. 'What time was it? How long was I asleep for?' He looked about the small area. The windows were dark and drawn, and there was a lit lamp, which implied it was late in the day. He figured he fell asleep for about an hour. If it was so late in the day, why did no one come to move him? Usually a guard or trusty handmaiden would move him if he tried to sleep anywhere princes weren't supposed to sleep. Did they feel sorry for him?
His eyes moved down towards the fragile hand he was holding with both his own. Damien lie in a small bed within the health quarters, or so the nurses called it. There were stitches in his side and a bandage across his throat, painful reminders of what had happened just the night before.
Will frowned. He was sure he knew what happened. When Will was taking a small break from the party, he noticed Sudoka running towards him. Her crimson-red eyes looking wild. She tugged fiercly at his arm, shouting: "William! Please, I don't know what happened!"
Looking back, this was certainly a lie.
"You have to do something! I need to leave! Now!" She tried to flee, but Will stepped in front of her. "Wait, what's going on?" He had asked. "My dear, what have you done?"
"You would never understand! I felt like I had to, Will. Damien was so vulnerable and-and he basically made me do it! Honest, I sw-"
"Sudoka, what do you mean?" There was a slight edge in his voice. Tears sprung from her eyes. "If you must know," she swallowed. "He is just down thay hall. To the left. Don't blame me, William." She quickly fled.
Nervous, Will ran down the corridor, catching the attention of quite a few servants. When he found Damien, his heart momentarily stopped. Damien was lying very still on the ground, his blood drenching his shirt and dripping onto the floor. The sight made an old maid feel nauseous, and she ran back to tell others. He knelt down besude his little fairy and examined the wound. Another sevant went off to alert authorities. Will's memory grew a bit foggy here, and he couldn't remember much.
No, that was a lie. Will remembered holding Damien in his arms, being ever so careful not to hurt him. His mind was spinning, and tears may have begun to slowly leave his eyes. Damien hardly felt alive, his body almost cold. The only comfort was his shallow breathing and his faint but vital heartbeat. He remembered a dark feeling. It felt like Damien's life was fading away, and he couldn't do anything to save him. Eventually help arrived, and Will's memory grew foggy then. He couldn't remember what happened after. No, that was a lie as well. But he would revel later. At the moment, William the Second had something very important to do. He couldn't wait any longer, he needed answers. Leaving Damien's side for the first time since the incident, he went hunting for Sudoka, the girl with blood for eyes.

Chapter Text
Sudoka stood transfixed at the blood neatly staining her hands; tears glistened in her eyes. Her mind went back to that moment. Her knife had been pressed into his throat. Sudoka remembered the wicked laugh she let out went as blood began to leak onto her blade. It felt surreal. That memory couldn't be hers, she would never do that! And yet she had, she attacked the only person she really cared about. And all because of fear.
She remembered the way his eyes looked as he picked up a shard of glass from the broken mirror. The insanity in them as he repeatedly plunged it into his side. They certainly had both lost their minds.
After ages of searching, Will finally found her by the doors to the balcony. Her hair reached her shoulders, and her eyes were possibly even more red than before. Though none of this mattered to Will, his only focus was getting answers and justice. Instantly, he ran towards her and grabbed her arm to prevent an escape. Terrified, Sudoka locked eyes with the prince. He glared at her. "Sudoka," he said. "What happened?" She freed herself from his grip, her mind in some sort of turmoil. "I don't know, William. One moment, everything was fine, the next Damien was dripping with blood." William's gaze darkened, causing Sudoka to grow a little nervous. He shouted at her. "No, I don't believe that! Tell me the truth. Now."
"I'm honest, I don't know! I was too busy trying to block out noise. You know how it is, William. It's that voice. That voice in my head. I already told Damien this, but, I think she is haunting me!"
"What are you talking about?"
"Oh? Tell me, what do you want from me?"
"I..," Will sighed, his shoulders shaking. "I need to know the truth. I need to know everything." Then, to Will's surprise, Sudoka began grinning madly. "You think it's all my fault, don't you?" She laughed softly. "I hardly did anything. Damien stabbed himself, and I witnessed. I cut him a little bit, but that is nothing! It's not like I went through with slitting his throat!" She pointed her finger at William accusingly. "And anyway, at least I know I love him! No one else in the world will ever love him as much as I do! William, I don't think you even know how to love."
"Stop it! Sudoka, What has gotten into you?" Angered, Sudoka surged towards him, and he flung her towards the wall.
"If you really love Damien, why did you attack him? Why did you do nothing to help him?" Will almost sounded sad. She pushed him away with immense force. "Because, Dipsh*t, I am trying to prevent an awful future!" Seeing his confused face, she decided to tell him. "Very soon, a war will begin, caused by the Wytte family. I should know, I have known the wretched family all my life. William, your people will not win. The Wyttes will destroy everything. Including you and me." Her eyes softened. "Every Wytte must die." He stepped towards her. "What is the full truth?" Sudoka grinned once more. "A voice has spoken to me. It has tormented me for weeks. I have learned many things." Her smile widened. "Damien has to die, it's destiney. You can't save him. I love Damien, but I have to fulfill the writing, it seems."
She began to walk away, and Will did not stop her from doing so. "Not everyone deserves happiness, William. The voice is always right." Her eyes looked as though she was possessd. Her pupils were unusually small, and her whole face didn't look natural. "Don't worry, I'll fix this. I don't know how, but I will. We will meet again, William. Wait for me until then." She hesitated, then spoke again. "The wheels of fate are already turning. Don't try to fight it, Sunshine." And with that she was gone.
Will found himself standing alone. He thought long and hard about all the strange things Sudoka had said, and felt deeply unnerved.

Chapter Text
The following day, Damien woke up. Prince Will was there when he did, and his face lit up with joy. The whole room seemed brighter, as dark as it usually was.
When Damien opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Will's face hovering dangerously close to his. Flustered, he squeezed his eyes back shut and gently out his left hand across Will's face as if to move it. Damien removed his palm and began to slowly sit up. He blinked several times. "Will...?" He slightly tilted his head. "What are you doing here?" Instead of answering him, though, William quickly wrapped his arms around Damien and hugged him tightly. Damien returned the hug, and noted the quickened pace of both heart beats. Will began to talk. "Damien, I was so scared." He pulled back so that he could make eye contact with him.
"How do you feel?" Damien briefly touched his side and flinched. "It hurts." Will held Damien's hands. "Why did you do it?"
"I wan't entirely aware of what I was doing." Will squeezed Damien's hands."Please don't do that again, fairy. Your life is so precious." The stars that once filled Damien's eyes returned for a moment before once again fading out. He simply nodded.
While Will was left unsatisfied, he decided that now wasn't the time to dwell on that matter. And there was something eles he wished to know.
"What exactly happened with Sudoka?" Damien became nervous. "I really wanted to trust her." He momentarily paused. "We drove each other..crazy? I don't know, last time she didn't look like herself. Sudoka...attacked me. I think she was enraged by something from the past." A few tears fell from Damien's eyes, and Will knew he was scared, too. He hugged him again, and was sure to be very careful around the wounds.
They stayed like that a while, each too tired to go on. But a question was burning in Damien's mind. "Will, where is Sudoka? What happened to her?"
"She left the castle. I don't think she will bother coming back." Damien nodded. He rested against Will, who at some point began laying next to him on the crowded hospital bed. Damien's nervous thoughts and feelings eventually lulled him back to sleep.
With Damien nestled in Will's arms, William began to think again. He hadn't meant for Sudoka to go off like that, but her words speaking of a prophecy, for some reason, left him feeling deeply unnerved. What if she was talking about.. that. Or something worse. Suddenly, an image appeared in his mind, the only book his Dad ever read to him. Will then realized that the truth was only going to be terrible, and he braced himself mentally, fearing the worst. William dozed off, however, and the feeling was forgotten

Shout out to Panini for suggesting Damien slapping Will for trying to wake him up from slumber XDXD

Chapter Text
Will ran as fast as he could. Why was this happening? Eventually, he stopped. He soon realized he was lost, and this wasn't good. Desperate, Will tried to think of a plan. He wasn't sure what was going on, he just knew he needed to hide. He opened a random, old castle door and slipped inside.
Things had been getting better. Damien had almost fully recovered, and Will's new-found anxiety finally let Damien be by himself for more than three hours. Unfortunately, some damage couldn't be undone. While it was unobserved by others, there was less life in Damien's face, and his eyes would almost look dead if not for the shreds of life still shining through like moonbeams. No matter how hard Will tried, he couldn't get those beautiful and dark stars back in Damien's eyes for more than a few moments.
As he was thinking, Will came across a large tapestry he had never seen before. It depicted a beautiful kingdom much like his own, and in the sky there was both the sun and moon. The king in the tapestry notably had a sword like his own. Out of nowhere, the tspestry caught flames and burned to the ground. William quickly ran away.
Will found himself in the library, which meant he was no longer lost. But they were still coming. The witches. William could feel it in his every fiber. He than heard a voice call out to him from the otherside of the library. He ventured over and saw nothing, only an old mirror. As he began to head back to the council to get help, a voice whispered in his ear, "Are you afraid of me yet, Sunshine? It's not over." His eyes widened. "What-?" Large force swung at his head, and he crumbled to the floor.
Sudoka stared down at him, no expression visible. She hoped Angela would be pleased with her.
