Summary
On a vacation in Southern California, Gerri is looking for something she can't quite define, but she runs into someone she never would have expected.
Gerri wonders, what exactly is it about the rose that is nagging at her so loudly? She doesn't understand why she can’t stop thinking about it. What is it about this lone rose that resonates so profoundly?
It’s only after she’s finished a chapter of the book she’s reading, only after she turns off the lamp next to the bed, when she feels herself start to drift off to sleep… she realizes the rose reminds her of him. A lonely flower adrift all by its lonesome, looking upon the shore at the oncoming waves, not fully able to hide itself from the elements. Misunderstood, Gerri thinks. Lost. The rose has so much potential if only it could find others more like itself. Flowers that will nurture it, feed it, protect it.
