Chapter Text
City D-4 – Another Tuesday Afternoon
Vedal groaned, sprawled across the rubble of what used to be a bar. His metal limbs sparked as he twitched, adjusting the angle of his crushed hat.
"Forty-three," he muttered under his breath. "That’s the forty-third building this month. Why do I even bother?"
High above him, Neuro was doing aerial spins, her delighted laughter echoing across the ruins. "Come on, Dad! It’s not *that* bad. At least this one had good music playing before it blew up!"
"Also," Evil chimed in, inspecting her nails with feigned disinterest, "it’s not our fault you’re such a fragile little cyborg. Maybe dodge next time?"
Vedal sat up, his good arm waving angrily. "Dodge!? I was nowhere near your sparring match until someone—" he shot a glare at Neuro, "sent me flying into the wall!"
Neuro giggled innocently. "My bad~."
Evil rolled her eyes. "It was definitely your bad."
Anny floated down, her fox tails flicking playfully as she surveyed the damage. "Okay, okay, everyone chill. Vedal, you’re still alive, so that’s a win." She crouched next to him, pulling a bent piece of rebar from his shoulder. "Maybe we should stop letting them play in densely populated areas?"
Vedal groaned. "I’ve had enough. We’re going to the Hero Association. If they’re going to keep wrecking cities, we might as well get paid for it."
"Wait, wait, wait—are we getting cool badges!?" Neuro’s eyes sparkled as she zipped down, landing in front of him.
"I’m requesting black," Evil added. "Something with an ominous design."
Anny clapped her hands. "Alright, team outing! Let’s make this fun."
Vedal sighed. "Fun. Sure."
Hero Association HQ – Registration Day
The Hero Association HQ bustled with activity, heroes rushing about while anxious staff barked into phones. Vedal approached the front desk, his appearance ragged but determined.
"I need registration forms. And maybe some hazard pay," he muttered, sliding his ID across the counter.
Behind him, Neuro and Evil ogled the holographic hero rankings displayed on the walls.
"Oooh, I like her outfit," Neuro said, pointing to a Class A hero in sleek armor.
"It’s impractical," Evil replied. "No way that holds up in a fight."
"Hey!" A familiar voice rang out. The group turned to see Filian, clad in her bright orange martial arts gear, bouncing over with her characteristic grin.
"Filian!" Neuro cheered, waving enthusiastically.
"Chaotic Fist, Class A, at your service!" Filian struck a playful pose before ruffling Neuro’s hair. "About time you two joined the fun. Thought you were too busy blowing up half the city."
"That’s called training," Evil deadpanned.
Filian laughed, flipping onto the desk to sit cross-legged. "Well, hurry up and register. Drinks are on me after your first mission. Assuming you don’t destroy the bar again."
Vedal pinched the bridge of his nose. "Why do I even bother?"
Sudden Monster Attack – First Mission
The ink on their registration forms wasn’t even dry when the building shook violently. Alarms blared, and a guttural roar echoed across the city.
Outside, a colossal serpent-like monster with metallic scales and glowing red eyes towered above the skyline. Its tail whipped through buildings, sending debris flying.
Vedal sighed. "Of course."
"Alright, team!" Filian jumped up, cracking her knuckles. "Time to shine!"
"Finally!" Neuro cheered, powering up her arm cannon.
Evil rolled her eyes but activated her plasma blade. "Let’s get this over with."
Anny stepped forward, her tails shimmering. "You three take the monster. Vedal and I will handle the civilians. Got it?"
Vedal adjusted his cracked goggles. "Fine by me. Just don’t blow up the entire block this time."
The Monster Fight
The trio split up, attacking from all sides.
Neuro hovered to the left, firing precision energy blasts that tore into the serpent’s armor. "Take that, you oversized noodle!"
Filian darted beneath its swinging tail, her movements a blur as she landed rapid punches along its underbelly. "Come on, big guy! Is that all you’ve got!?"
Evil flew in close, circling its head like an angry wasp. She slashed at its glowing eyes, drawing an enraged roar. "Over here, ugly!"
Meanwhile, Vedal and Anny worked on evacuating civilians trapped in the debris.
"Come on, move it!" Vedal barked, his cyborg strength lifting a collapsed beam off a terrified child.
Anny crouched beside an injured man, her tails glowing as she conjured a barrier to shield him from falling rubble. "Stay close to me, alright? We’ll get you out of here."
The monster roared again, thrashing wildly as the trio’s attacks intensified.
"Alright, girls," Vedal called out, his voice amplified through a comm link. "Time to use that."
Neuro’s eyes lit up. "We’re doing that!?"
"Are you sure?" Evil hesitated. "We’re still in the middle of the city—"
"Too late!" Neuro grabbed her sister’s arm, their limbs twisting together to form a massive energy cannon.
"You aim!" Neuro said gleefully.
"Why am I always the one aiming!?" Evil grumbled, stabilizing the weapon.
The cannon charged, glowing brighter as energy gathered.
"Combined Technique: Dual Splitter Beam Cannon!" they shouted in unison, unleashing a colossal beam of energy that ripped through the serpent’s head, vaporizing it completely and splitting the sky above.
Team Formation – Neuroverse
As the dust settled, the group regrouped. Filian patted Neuro and Evil on the back. "That. Was. EPIC!"
Neuro grinned. "Told you we were awesome!"
Evil admitted, smirking. "Not bad."
Vedal crossed his arms. "Alright, I’ll admit it. You girls did good. Maybe we really can work as a team."
Anny smiled warmly, brushing debris off her coat. "So, what’s the team name?"
Vedal smirked. "Neuroverse."
The girls cheered, raising their fists in triumph.
"Alright!" Filian shouted. "First round’s on me. Let’s celebrate!"
As the newly-formed Neuroverse walked off into the sunset, Mumen Rider watched from a distance, pumping his fist in silent encouragement.
"Go, team," he whispered.
Saitama’s POV – A Block Over
The hero known as Saitama strolled down a cracked sidewalk, plastic grocery bags in hand. He was heading to a nearby grocery store known for its end-of-day sales, his thoughts focused entirely on the possibility of a discounted hotpot set.
As he turned a corner, the sight of the Neuroverse stopped him in his tracks.
"Uh… what?"
In the middle of the street stood a group of people that could only be described as… weirdos.
There was the hyperactive martial artist in orange, bouncing around like she’d had way too much sugar. Beside her, two nearly identical girls—one grinning mischievously, the other looking vaguely annoyed—were arguing about who did the most damage in the fight. A man with robotic limbs was trying (and failing) to reign them in, his frustration practically radiating off him.
And then there was a fox-tailed woman spinning around, humming a tune as she dusted debris off her coat with an almost carefree elegance.
They looked like a mix between a circus troupe and a disaster response team.
Saitama scratched his head. "Is this supposed to be some new hero squad?"
The group passed by him, completely oblivious to his presence. The loud one in orange—he caught her calling herself Filian—was dragging everyone toward a bar.
"Come on, I know a place that still serves after a fight like that!" she shouted, practically skipping.
"We are not blowing up another bar," Vedal muttered, glaring at the twins.
"No promises," Neuro replied cheerfully, while Evil rolled her eyes.
Anny laughed, patting Vedal on the shoulder. "Relax, they’re learning. Sort of."
Saitama stood there for a moment, watching the strange group disappear into the distance.
"...Weird."
With a shrug, he turned back toward his original goal. Hotpot sets didn’t buy themselves, after all.
